Hi everyone. I have once again caught the Harry potter bug, and I really want to make and excellent roleplay for one of my favourite book series. I find Harry Potter roleplays die out very quickly, and I want to prevent that by having a number of involved people working on the plot together to create a lasting interest outside the first sparkle of attraction. That will also involve a few requirements for the game such as:

-Not everyone can be in Gryffindor and Slytherin, the plot will go nowhere if there is. Because of this, I encourage multiple players, but not to take on more than you can handle. This way you can have your first choice of character, and still have other side ones that continue to move the plot.

-No run-of-the-mill, or Emo characters. It's ok for them to have problems, or be innocent, but don't make it to the point that it’s all we ever hear from them, or the point has become redundant. Make your characters grow as people over time. It gets annoying really fast, and contributes to low posting.

-At least one paragraph per post. Take your time when writing your responses, and be descriptive. I know I’m not the only one who gets put off by lightning fast short posts.

-Don't be afraid to create new creatures, spells, secret passages, ect. Just be sure they don't completely go against the magical laws that J.K created, and be fair with them.

-I also think using the OOC thread will be useful for discussing what we plan to do collectively, and accumulate ideas

General Bio: 'Mudblood' as some would call her, but she doesn't care. She's known about her powers since birth, and was more than happy to recieve her hogwarts invintation. Her first crush called her ugly, and ever since she has hated boys. She hates griffyndor because everything exciting always seems to happen to the students in that house. She will always act nice and friendly, but when it gets down to it she plays to win.

Personality: bubbly, out-going. Likes things done her way.

Other: her pet is named SweetPea, a persian feline

Appearance: A blonde-haired female. Brown-eyed. Her normal robes are dark grey ones.
General Bio: Aldebaran was born as the elder (by about fifteen seconds) of the Lake twins. As a baby, she showed a somewhat strange lack of tears.

At two, things changed.
Rigel was born.

As for her relation to Rigel, they've always acted rude towards each other, but had a bond nevertheless. He's one of the only particular people she's cared about, although indeed she cares for all her family, despite her allegations to the latter.

When Hogwarts came 'round, she was sorted into Slytherin straight-away.
Personality: Aldebaran's usually sickeningly kind to all whom she deems important; she's a kiss-upper. To all she deems unimportant, she tends to just ignore them.
Naturally, she tends to be slightly apprehensive of Solarian, he being a Gryffindor prefect and all, and is fake-argumentative towards Rigel.

Other:
She's absolutely horrid at History of Magic.
Al's good at Charms and Transfiguration.
She's allergic to peanuts.
Wand is maple and stiff.

General Bio: Solarian was born as the younger (by about fifteen seconds) of the Lake twins. As a baby, he showed a rather aggressive nature, and learnt language at a slow pace.

As for his relation to Rigel, Solarian was always creeped out by his strange intellect. They're cordial to each other, but are quite distant.

When he finally came to Hogwarts, the Sorting Hat seemed to have a bit of trouble choosing his House. Apparently, it was quite divided about sending him to Gryffindor or Hufflepuff, but at his urging it sent him to the former, where his father came from.

Appearance: A brown-haired, slim boy.
General Bio: Born into the Lake family, he grew up with his brother and sister. Despite his claims to the contrary, he has bonds with either of them, and the lot of them all stick up for each other.

In his third year, he tried out for Quidditch trials. Naturally, he got it.
Personality: Peculiar, sometimes rude. Somewhat prodigious and uppity.

Other:

Wand is holly and unyielding.
Hates History of Magic, but excels at it.
Not good at Transfiguration. Hates Divination; is good at Charms.

Personality: She's hyper and random but can be responsible. She is a caring person and a loyal friend. However she has a strong sense of revenge and can hold a grudge against someone for a very long time. She's unafraid to stand up for herself. She is a hopeless romantic and loves to write.

Matthias is tall and fairly built, standing at 6' and weighing 230 pounds. His eyes are a bright blue, contrasting with his dark tanned skin. His hair is dark brown, and is always kept short-cut. Matthias wears a goatee on his face, always keeping it masterfully groomed. Being from the society he came from, Matthias's body is covered in lean muscle. His face is sharp and angular, but has subtle curves in places. His chest and back are broad, tapering down to his waste, where his leg muscles flare out the skin again. His arms, thighs, and calves are all definitively muscled, and his hands and feet are fairly large. All in all, Matthias is a large young man.

Usually, when in his dorms or in Hogsmead, Matthias wears a simple, no-sleeved tunic, trousers, and leather boots, all black. Around his waist, keeping the tunic tight, Matthias usually wears a silver sash, a little bit of it hanging off of him. His outfit doesn't vary much.
General Bio:
Matthias grew up in a small (Fictional) country of Saelar (Say-lar). Saelar being the country it is, Matthias grew up working constantly, learning various trades and being taught the values of Saelari society. Both of his parents were able to use magic, but in most of his daily tasks, Matthias was forbidden to be aided by magic. Also in keeping with Saelari tradition, Matthias forged his first sword at age eleven, and his first bladestaff at thirteen. Personally, he prefers the bladestaff, but keeps both at hand. He was invited to Hogwarts, which his parents grudgingly agreed to let him go to, and arrived four years ago. Ever since then, he has been growing in magical aptitude, as well as physical.
Personality:
Matthias is quiet and introspective, though can be talkative when he wants to be. However, he is always kind and tries to respect everybody, even if he doesn't want to. Matthias also has a violent temper, but tries to keep it under control.
Other:
Matthias wields both the bladestaff and his wand with trained movements, though he is always improving himself. He also owns a Aerocai SB-5000 broom, given to him by his parents just before he left for his first year.

Age/Year: 13, Third year.
Apperance:
General Bio: Simon grew up in a muggle orphanage and was unaware of who his parents were and how he was able to make strange things happen. He was delighted rather than afraid when he received his letter from Hogwarts and immersed himself in the magical world, seeing the Muggle world dull and uninteresting. He's made few friends, being the loner type.
Personality: Simon is a bit arrogant and is very cunning. He is kind, though mostly to his friends and is ambitious. He believes in himself and longs to be a great wizard. Simon hates the thought of knowledge being wasted or destroyed so he is wary of Dark Magic from his studies in the History of Magic Class and the books he's read, but he doesn't see it as completely evil.
Other: Has a pet snake named Fang.
His wand is made of ebony wood and 11 inches long with a basilisk-skin casing and a phoenix feather.
His greatest fear is that he'd end up as nothing and his name won't go down in history.

Appearance:
Nathaniel stands 5’9” tall, has cropped dark brown hair, and emerald green eyes. Nathaniel often wears dark green robes and sports a similarly colored pointed wizard cap. He has an average build, long arms and legs, and wears stylish dark brown loafers. His calico cat Buttons normally follows beside him when he’s walking through the school.

General Bio:
Nathaniel Makarov was born to Muggle parents and raised in a comfortable home in Moscow, Russia. Nathaniel began to display signs of his talents at the young age of 3, when he accidentally transfigured a bicycle into a fully functioning ice cream truck. His parents, while hesitant after receiving the initial invitation letter from Hogwarts, eventually agreed to send Nathaniel to the famous wizarding school to immerse him in his true culture.

Nathaniel soon discovered that he had a natural talent for transfiguration, and excelled in the subject while motivating and mentoring others. After graduation, the obvious career choice for Nathaniel was a professor at Hogwarts, and his Muggle parents couldn’t have been prouder. Nathaniel’s methodical teaching style won Hogwarts several awards and garnered worldwide recognition for the school, which turned out more successful OWLS and NEWTS in Transfiguration than any other competing institutions.

Popular with his students, Nathaniel often volunteers to schedule additional tutoring and training sessions well into the night. As someone who is also fond of magical flora and fauna, Nathaniel occasionally assists the Gamekeepers in their efforts to maintain the grounds of Hogwarts.

Personality:
Always one to watch out for others, Nathaniel is constantly on the lookout for threats against the safety of Hogwarts. He doesn’t tolerate bullies and severely punishes rule breakers. While extremely strict, he is also very fair and does his best to make his classes fun and help his students excel at the same time. Nathaniel is often cooperative with other staff members and does his best to be of assistance to other teachers and the headmaster.

Other:
While Nathaniel loves the sport of Quidditch, he has admitted to being absolutely terrible at it.
Nathaniel’s mother tongue is Russian, but he has become accustomed to speaking English (with a slight accent).
He has a calico cat named Buttons.
In his spare time, Nathaniel likes to read books on botany and potion making.
Nathaniel’s wand is built into a tall wooden staff, which he frequently uses as a walking stick.
His favorite dessert is treacle tart.
His favorite candy is the chocolate frog.
Nathaniel excels at the Impedimenta spell, and does not require a wand or incantation to use it.

Appearance: James is a fairly hardy-looking student, not quite considered fat. He actually, when wearing robes, looks quite muscular. He has wild sandy-blond hair and a very slight tan. His bright blue eyes, almost childish in sheen, makes his 6'0'' body appear a little too big for him.
General Bio: James is a half-blood, and since his father never knew his mother was a witch until James was 13, he never received much about this world before he came to Hogwarts.
Personality: James is a kind person, usually taking a little extra time to tutor and to help in the herbology department, where he feels most at home under the many dangerous and deadly plants.

General Bio: Blaine was born into a rather large, prominent wizarding family from a very upper-class area called Charnwood Forest, which is in Leicestershire, in the East Midlands. As stated before, his family is quite large, having four older siblings, two males and two females and also two younger brother and one younger sister.
His mother and father met like many others, at Hogwarts itself, his mother a Gryffindor and his father a Ravenclaw. There's not really very much to say about his upbringing that would suprise one, though some children find it amazing that most of his grown family work in the Ministry of Magic.

His mother works for the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures, in the Being department, his father once worked for the auror's office, though was killed during a job. His eldest brother, Zane, works for the Accidental Magic Reversal Squad, whilst his second eldest brother, Dane, makes a living working for the Obliviator Headquarters.

As a present for his becoming a Head Boy at such a young age, Blaine's parents helped him to become slightly stronger in his most lacking of Magic's, Transfiguration, as he doesn't exactly have perfect creativity which is almost vital to becoming a better Transfiguration wielding. They taught him more about certain Human-based transfiguration works, mainly how to transform himself into different objects, though he could only transform a finger or thumb, a full hand at the most. They did, however, manage to teach him how to become an Animagus, as did their parents before them.

Personality: Having such a large family, most of whom are powerful witches and wizards in their own rights, atop of having his father ripped away from his during the night, when he was still rather young, seems to have had a rather profound effect on the boy. He is usually rather withdrawn when meeting new people, though hides behind a tough exterior and is never usually one to back down from anything. Blaine is usually extremely to the point, and upholds the 'laws and rules' of Hogwarts with an intense, and sometimes scary, passion. Though, he is also rather defensive of certain area's of his personality, such as his love of old jazz and soul songs, and hides these things, as well as his past insecurities behind his need of absolute perfection, meaning ever some of the Ravenclaw students find him increasingly upperty. Though, if he were to find a friend or two, he would most certainly be a friend to treasure, as he is both loyal and courageous, along with his 'Ravenclaw traits'. Oddly, and quite the opposite of his strict personality, he actually has a love of music, and can sometimes be heard singing along with these songs, though he would always deny this.

Other: He has a rune-inscribed maple wand. It is eleven and three quarters inches long. It has a core of dragon bone and phoenix tailfeather.
- He also owns a purple-furred Pygmy Puff he named Archie. Archie is usually found performing tasks for Blaine and chasing spiders.
- His wand was specifically made because of the boys multiple talents in Transfiguration, Dueling, Conjuration and Charms, though he is also quite an accomplished Quidditch player, he admits only actually playing the game to stop himself from gaining too much weight
- He doesn't eat sweets so much, though he is quite partial to a Deluxe Sugar Quill
- His favourite dessert is a Chocolate Eclair
- Blaine's favourite, and most practiced spells are Incendio, a self-created version of the Flame-Freezing Charm which freezes the flame, but still injures the target, and Herbivicus.
- His favourite teacher is the Transfiguration Professor Makarov, Transfiguration being his best subject.
- Despite his immense following of the exact rules and regulations in the night-on unwritten hogwarts code, Blaine has actually [though unwittingly] broken one of said guidelines. He is the youngest Head Boy in Ravenclaw, and for that matter, Hogwarts history. He is Fifteen, and the usual guideline is for the Prefect to be at least seventeen before acceptance as a Head Boy/Girl.
- His Animagus form is that of Peregrine Falcon, though this falcon has a darker, almost black pelt, and a fluffy marking of feathers around it's head. It also has two small rings around it's eyes, signifying the teens glasses.
- Blaine took after his father's grandmother, a famed Metamorphmagus, in that he can change pretty-much everything about his body except for his voice. Though, he has taught himself how to easily throw and disguise his voice to match his new forms.

[Oh, and I know nobody really does. But if anyone doesn't want to make a big history or such up, and would like to make one of the characters as a main or alt, just go ahead.]]

Anyway, I was wondering if we were going to discuss what this RP was going to be about. Kohana - this is your RP, so you should be the one that decides the details, but I think doing something along the lines of what Vexar had suggested in your Interest Check thread would be unique and different.

Instead of a manic Minister of Magic, a terrifying monster lurking deep within Hogwarts, or a terrible Dark Wizard trying to outshine Voldemort, the main “antagonist” could be something that threatens the entirety of Wizarding (and Muggle) kind, a magical power so great that if it cannot be stopped, it would mean disaster.

I’m not sure what the “threat” would be, but it would be contained somewhere within Hogwarts. Just playing off some ideas already provided… anyone else? I'd like this to start up soon...

Nice idea. And maybe there could be some people inside of Hogwarts that are possibly under the control of said entity or such. That would cause the characters to think the enemy was said Dark wizard[s], when in fact it is something much worse.

And I know it sounds very much like the books, but this could also cause some sort of war if the entity gains enough power to take over certain numbers of wizards. Maybe?

And your only my favourite because you teach Transfiguration classes. So nyah. >.>

yeah we will have to find something truly malevolent if we are going to go along the books, i mean how to outshine voldemort...

i know that will be a tough one, so i would say do not center it around the antagonist to start off anyways, let the story get bigger as we go, so we can have room for any other characters we need to add.

i say we need to decide on an antagonist though so we know where the story needs to head in the future, but lets not dwell on that way too much right now.

House:Gryfindor (really it's amazeing at this rate I'll be the only Gryfindor!)

Age/year:12 (almost) 1st
Appearance:Syaja has red brown hair, and pierceing hazel eyes. She is almost 5'4", and well built if a little bit plump.

Genral bio:her family northern Ireland, and are your typical pure-bloods, they were quite shocked when she said her fav. House was Gryfindor, her daily has always been made up of Slytheirens and Ravenclaws. Her parents never told her anything so she had become very good at evesdropping, she also has learned how to be a class A theif (not a robber, robbers hurt poeple, a thief just steals.)

Personality:she's nice and has a good heart, though few would belive that with the number of their things to disapear into her room, she will only steal from poeple who are mean to her, (she's ADHD and dyslexic) and has some trouble spelling and is a slow reader, though she reads any fantasy or interesting history she can get to.

Other:if people had to choose sides than none knows for sure what side she be on, whichetver it is would no doubt gain a brave fighter. Also she is sure some of her fellow, um, non-existent Gryfindors think she is there as a spies for the really pure-blood crowd.

Idea. Maybe this person understands how powerful love is, isn't afraid of death, and isn't off 'is rocker

Apperance: Lean figure, with messy brown hair streaked with black. Slightly handsome, but not anything girls obsess over.
General Bio: A half-blood, transferred from the small wizard division of the Salem Institute in the United States.
Personality: Generally cheerful, with a wit as quick as it is strange, and this intelligence grows larger as he grows more and more mad, in the insane sense.
Other: He's an Animagus, something he learned in his three years at Salem, where it's not as frowned upon. Has a special sort of visiting license, with markings and species, with the Ministry. His form is a brown cat with black spots along the spine.

Uhh..I don't think so, Nano. That's no where near a profile good enough to become an animagus. And could some people please make some Hufflepuff and Slytherin instead? Like a few of the ..shall we say, lacking profiles, could you possibly change your houses? There's no point in the rp if everyone is in Ravenclaw? And it IS one of the rules for people to spread out. Like a dozen Ravenclaw, Two Gryffindor, Two Hufflepuff, and one Slytherin is not spreading out. I mean, if I NEED to, I'd happily make Blaike a Slytherin. But only if I had to. Anyway! Could some of you do that?
