The coffee machine had finished it's black brew as they had been talking, and Michael poured a cup taking a sip of the steaming liquid, before taking the credit card from her. He stared at it for a moment, then blushed deeply and scratched his head. "I uhhhh....I don't know how to run credit cards...my secretary did all that for me," laughing lightly and shaking his head at his predicament he set her card on the desk where she could reach it. "It's ok though I'll get your car fixed, and write up a bill. You can pay me back later or when I get a new secretary you can stop by and run your card."

Business finished Michael turned to leave the unknown world of conversation with females, and move to the world that he knew, engines and grease. "I'll be done soon, take all the coffee you want cups are in the drawer under the machine," he said as he walked out. Approaching the Mercedes he rolled up his sleeves, set his coffee where he could reach it, and set to work.

"My aren't you trusting," Brooke said in response to his comment about not knowing how to run credit cards. "luckily enough for you I'm incapable of lying or taking advantage of people. I can be by tomorrow or later today with a check, assuming you know how to cash one of those."

The ice in Brooke's voice made her wince, and she hoped Michael hadn't caught it. He had been amazing all day and was going out of his way to help her. That rude streak was just something that happened sometimes. It was uncontrollable. Of course she couldn't sit and explain all this to him. It would be a very long story. For now, Brooke just chose to blame her sleep deprivation. It was easier that way.

Michael walked away, leaving Brooke with a terrible knot in her stomach. She made a mental note to apologize once he had finished with her car. Absentmindedly she reached for the coffee pot, slowing pouring the dark liquid into a nearby cup. She pulled the cup up to her face, letting the steam warm her cheeks before taking a sip. The black coffee burned it's path from her throat to her stomach. It tasted sour to the girl who was used to things such as foam and mint in her brew. However, it was warm and caffeinated, so to her, as of that moment, it was perfection.

It didn't look like Tyrone had followed Helena out of the coffeeshop, which is exactly how he wanted it to look. He was having fun, not trying for a girlfriend. No matter how much fun this little girl was, he must allow her to escape. It was part of the rules of not appearing desperate. So he let her go without a word, and moved into her chair as she left, watching the door close behind her.

However, he grew bored the second the door closed and was out of it quietly within the next few second, sidling down the street at an easy pace, keeping a casual eye on what these "other tasks" she had to do really were. It didn't look like the tasks were really anything she had in mind, unless it was running head first into a--ow! Oh, that actually looked painful.

Two strong hands helped Helena up from the cold, wet ground and steadied her on her feet. "Jesus, you okay? That looked like it hurt."
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

Final twist of the wrench, close the hood, wipe grease from hands off hood, put away tools, done. Michael smiled as best he could in his exhausted state, then a huge yawn came destroying the smile and reminding him of bed. Zombie like the mechanic trudged over to the office where he had left his female customer twenty minutes ago. Peeking his head inside he tried again to make some assemblance of a smile, "Alright she is done, just bring me the money whenever you can. Now if you don't mind I think I am going to take a shower and sleep for a hundred years." Michael hated to shove Brooke from his shop so quickly, he usually tried to let his customer hang around as long as they wanted. However he was exhausted, and he was fairly certain Brooke wanted to get home and change out of her wet clothes anyway. Another enourmous yawn over took Michael although he tried to stop it, it was to no evail.

The deep sound of Michael's voice broke Brooke from her trance like state. How long had she just been staring into the now empty coffee cup? Brooke smiled in appreciation, too tired to muster up anything more convincing as a thank you. Feeling no traces of the caffeine in her body, the dark remnants on the bottom of the cup were the only proof that she had actually drank the warm liquid.

"Thank you," Brooke said as she rose from her seat in the chair. The muscles in her legs were stiff from being curled under her for so long. She extended her slender fingers out towards Michael, gently removing the keys from his hand. "I'll be back with the money once I do the same." she said, another weak smile playing across her lips.

The smile quickly turned to a frown when Brooke opened the door and emerged back into the chilly, wet air. She hugged the Michael's coat (which she just now realized she had forgotten to return) tightly around her slender body to keep out the cold air. Quickly as was humanly possible, Brooke got into the luxury car and began to drive.
