Hosting of the Grand Tournament ( )

Postby SSJ3Mewtwo on Sat Mar 05, 2011 2:34 pm

With weeks and weeks of absolutely no information from Rem regarding the progress of the Tournament set-up, reaction to the rules he originally posted, or if he'd even assembled a ladder of those who have opted into the fray, Pseudo and myself on the Hall of Records forum us have settled on saying 'Fuck it'. No communication for this long has prompted us to say the hell with either expecting it to happen, or at least for it to happen while being hosted on this forum. We could opt to organize it ourselves, and leave Rem out of the equation entirely, but he has locked out access to the Tournament section of the forum. So we wouldn't be able to set anything up or really keep anything organized.

There is still interest in getting the Tournament started, however. And The GT was never meant to be hosted solely on the original site. The HoR was the kickoff point, but following the GT06 it was meant to serve mainly as a hub for members of other communities to track their battle records. RoleplayGateway was the home of GT08 (which ended less than stellar).

So I approached Ran about his forum hosting and organizing the GT2011. He accepted.

I'm sure Ran's sent everyone his forum addy already, but just incase: http://isamahii.com/index.php

This will be an endeavor on Ran and his staff. The GT format was meant to be flexed to fit the rules of whatever forum it was hosted on. Since Rem is not being involved (by us, and by his own inactivity), this means that Ran and his forum staff will be the ones setting rules, formats, and organization. He's offered Pseudo, QB, and myself staff positions, and I'll accept the one he offered me to help. But I'll be operating in an assistance capacity only. I myself still intend to compete. I have been watching the sign-up progress, and I've seen a few Gateway members and staff have wandered over there. But I felt that it'd be good to put up an announcement here, since the one on the HoR forum might not have been seen.

Part of organization will need to be re-accepting names, getting a ladder set, and establishing a general tournament scheme. I am closing the Invitees thread on the HoR forum, and Ran's staff will need to create one of their own on theirs. It will be the only valid listing of players. If you don't post on his board in the sign-up thread his staff creates, then you're not in.

The tournament is aiming for 32 participants, and is about seven or ten away from that number, I think. So there's definitely time and room for more participants.

RolePlayGateway is a site built by a couple roleplayers who wanted to give a little something back to the roleplay community. The site has no intention of earning any profit, and is paid for out of their own pockets.

If you appreciate what they do, feel free to donate your spare change to help feed them on the weekends. After selecting the amount you want to donate from the menu, you can continue by clicking on PayPal logo.
