Thorgaar the Bloody wrote:Dude, I know what communism is. The end result is supposed to be a lack of government. I never said anything about totalitarianism... what made you think I did? I've read the damn manifesto, it's the reason I follow communism. And anyways, those people weren't communists, they were oppurtunists. It's like saying that Nationalist Socialism is socialist... it's fascism, just because it calls itself by one name doesn't mean it is that.

What manifesto would this be? If you say Das Capital I will have to correct you, because Marx was neither a communist, nor the father of communism. He did not even suggest the idea, his writing was concerned solely with an analysis of history and a conclusion of future political and social development based on that analysis. He was not providing a basis for a political standpoint.

Democracy is indeed confused a lot with capitalism, and two party systems. Democracy is meant to be a society run by the people that society contains, for the good of everyone concerned. Meaning that no one person or council can vouch for the will and needs of all, because this is not representative of all the peoples will and needs. Communism is similar, this is what I feel Villag Alchemist meant when he said they're not mutually exclusive, Democracy as an actual social hypothesis, is, like Communism not tyrannical or of the belief that the will of some should be imposed on the population.

In short: Democracy = good. Communism = good. Present system of government calling itself democratic = bad.

I don't tend to go for labels too much either. I tend to go for the old jeans and t-shirt method, and often look a little scruffy. But in terms of how I look when I'm going somewhere, and in terms of what style of clothes I would wear if I had any cash to buy things . . . I've been described as hippy-ish? I like Glam too, but struggle with it because I won't buy clothes from normal clothe ranges because of their 'ethics'. I figure on making my own one of these days but it's not so easy.

Treali, I'm a sketchy writer who is slightly insane too :D

Can someone please explain preppy to me?
When the end seem to justify the means, you've tried too hard to find an excuse. When 'by any means necessary' means 'violence may become necessary' you've lost sight of your goal. When people lay down and die rather than endure any more suffering, worry for the state of humanity. When people do not comment on how wrong this is, become angry at the world, because feeling that upset is too hard to bare. When people say 'you care too much' don't answer, because there is no such thing.

Wakboth, these two kids can explain preppy far better than I could: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4J6JQ0lhdkQ

Having a Southern Californian accent is encouraged, even if you are not from that region, and note the amount of pink in the video.

I'm a rather formal person, if the situation allows that to be so, and the more professional you are, the more likely I am to take you and your opinions seriously. One thing though; too often, people are one end of the extremes, no moderation to them. (I.e. professional people tend to poorly take humor and humorous people too often handle serious matters poorly.) I myself happen to fall more along the serious walk of life. I tend to critically assess everything , possibly a side effect of my walk of life, be it for better or worse. My knee jerk reaction is to defend myself, first and foremost and snatch what I need to quickly. One thing though; my empathy is always there to give me a change from my typical, sharp as a sword self.

1 liner version;

Style subcategories; Professional, defensive, critical, empathetic, anti-extreme, serious.

Nonononono. A preppy person is not necessarily a bimbo. First, "bimbo" is an exclusively female term, and a boy can be preppy as well. Second, to call someone a bimbo implies that she is of low intelligence. You can be smart and still be preppy. OH-EM-GEE, I just got my doctr8 degree in metafisics!! I wrote my thesis on the subatomic propertees of heeee-lii-UM! Kkool, luv u, bye! *dances off into the sunset*

Also on communism:

"In Communism, will there be KGB?"
"No, comrade, in Communism the people will know how to self-arrest for subversion!"
