The terrain of Transylvania, the snow white banks looking like foam from the salty ocean hitting the rocky bottom, seemed so vast when standing upon the tallest of hills. Trees were spread out among the white snow, their piney branches covered with the powdered white snowflakes. Squirrels were nestled tightly in the trees, snuggling with each other for warmth and comfort, their bushy tails wrapped tightly around their bodies. Although some bears still roamed the land, most were hibernating in their caves, their dreams littered with fish and food that would be waiting for them when they awoke in the spring.

Large paw prints pressed deep into the snow climbed up this hill and ended where large paws stood holding a long, lean yet slightly muscular frame. She was young, perhaps just turning an adult, her clouded epidermis glistening. It camoflagued with the snow so only her green pools shone. A sliver of yellow spiked her lens in both iris'. A single spot of obsidian fur circled her left orb. She lifted her aperature to the grey cloudy sky and released a long mournful howl.

The howl seemed to rise and fall with the wind, being carried around the land, reaching for the skies perhaps even reaching the ears of Tor and Fenris. Tor and Fenris were the gods that the wolves believed to have created the earth and land they roamed on. The battles that had occured over the years were all the results of Tor and Fenris' own struggle with each other. This was believed among all wolves and stories spread like wildfire. All pups were told of Fenris and Tor, Tor's daughter Sita who brought peace when war was between wolves, and even of the golden wool made by Fenris and how a wolf by the name of Bren, the strongest of all wolves went to try and steal it.

Even the nightmare's of Wolfbane spread as well in hushed tones. Even his name spread fear into the hearts of many. He had been a god, created by Tor and Fenris, sent down to Earth when he had betrayed and sent evil thoughts to the wolves on the ground. Wolfbane had plans to create a world different from what Tor and Fenris wanted and it was even said that Wolfbane had the power to speak to the scavengers, the birds. He had been banished into the shadows and sent away into the land of the dead.

It had been about a year since the Prophecy family had defeated Wolfbane and Morgra, the evil wolf who had used the ancient howl that had brought the specters back from the dead; The evil wolf who wanted to become the Man Varg. The fight between the rebels and the Night hunters was over and done with and everything now was at peace. The wolf who had the Sight, Larka, had given her life to protect the world of the Varg(wolf) and all who inhabited it. Blood had been spilled upon the battlefield but it soon led to the peace before the wolf now.

Her howl was filled with the past, reminding all what had to be sacrificed to obtain such peace and tranquility. Of course, there were still the spontaneous run ins with the humans but everything had been dealt with on that day. So she stood here now, her fur being ruffled by the passing wind almost answering her howl. Her own eyes held the past of her own. She was one of the pups captured by Morgra. She had escaped though, the only one. She had gone without food for days but an eagle who seemed so different from the other putnar (predator) she had seen. He brought her meat almost daily as if he knew something she did not. It probably did and thus what filled her mind now as she looked out across the land.

What had made him so kind as to feed me? Then again, everyone was going mad from what had been happening. she thought. Unless... get a hold of yourself Tida. It's impossible. Tida turned from the open country and headed down the hill, her body sliding down slowly. Once at the bottom she looked up into the sky releasing another howl that seemed to be asking for wolf contact. She had been alone for so long without a run in with another wolf that perhaps it was time for her to find a pack. She would soon and so Tida turned her head and sprinted off into the forests in search of another or maybe a meal to satisfy the burning hunger that was boiling in the pit of her stomach.

A fluffy vanilla colored hare seemed to hop out from the brush, its ears pricked forward in an attempt to hear the surroundings around it. Tida crouched low, unmoving, her gaze frozen and hard, fixated on the creature. Its head swiveled around, its nose twitching at the slightest sound. Tida could almost feel its heartbeat through her paws, running up her long pillars into her mind. She liked her chops, saliva dripping from her fangs now. Hunger took over as her pupils dilated and she launched her physique at the small creature, dagger like claws extended out. The hare leaped in terror away as Tida scrambled after it. Her appendage kept her balanced as she swerved around a tree trunk, the hare only inches from her. She suddenly launched herself once more, enamel digging into the throat of the hare. She bit down hard making sure it was a quick death for the creature. She could remember hunting hares as a pup and had a horrible experience of what she believed to be an illusion. She thought she could see through the eyes of it. Of course she didn't ponder on it for too long but ever since that, she made the kills quick so it wouldn't hurt as much. Tida tore off strips of the carcass, eating happily as her tassel swayed lightly, her mood quite felicitous.

Graymane waited, as he had waited for several moons passes, forelegs tucked neatly under its mass of muscle and fur, sinew and bone, head angling upwards, eyes scanning the horizon. He continued to wait, eyes gazing down his gray and light brown muzzle over the edge of the cliff, yo usee, Graymane was waiting at the highest place he could reach, watchong the turmult of the white waves in the sky, clouds, the horizon where the sky and ground met were indistinguishable from each other, both holding the blanketing whiteness.

Letting loose a low growl, one scattered with inner emotion, long and throaty, as if angered... only to eventually tail off into a quiet whimper, barely audible past his own ears. Perhaps he was remembering old wounds, old memories as he twisted his head, looking back along his body and fur, where a small patch here and there could be brushed aside to reveal tooth marks, claw marks, even the mark of man or worse. As he finished his self appraisal, he let loose another growl, as if acknowledging what had happened, only to be answered by a howl, faint, drifting across the wind.... it held something in it, a message? a emotion? a memory? Graymane didn't know, but it tugged at him as if it was what he had been pondering on for so long.

Rising from his restful watch, his firm hind legs squating down as he sat, tall and proud, he decided he'd placate his own inner thoughts for a moment as he rose his head, prior to his jaws opening wide, rows of sharp teeth for biting and tearing, these would be used for other things for now, breathing deeply he slowly but surely howled in return, hoping for it to fly along the wind to the one who had howled their dreams to him. His own howl continued, filled with many different meanings to different ears, all seemed to divulge onto the same thought, those who listened would know, it was Graymane calling out, 'Who are you?' simply.

Tida began knawing on the bones of her most recent kill, the fluffy hare that crossed her path. She was lying down now, her tassel brushing through the snow revealing dead or dying grass. The bone was in between her two front paws as her sharp dagger ivories began biting the bone and tearing off shreds of it only to end up in the stomach with the rest of the meal. Her auds swiveled back as they picked up the sound of a distant howl, a howl ansering her previous call. Her head shot up, her body ridged, muscles strained.

Tida lifted herself onto her pillars, her neck twisting towards the sound of the howl. She left behind the fragments of bones and headed towards the howl. She wasn't planning on going all the way towards the wolf but she wanted to get a bit closer.

Tida travelled a bit before stopping and sitting on her haunches. Her back paw came up and scratched her ear before she pondered what to reply to the howl. It questioned who she was, and she didn't even know the question. What she did know was that she was Varg; She was Putnar. Lifting her muzzle to the sky, she parted her jaw slightly and released a melancholy note. I am a lone Varg, with nothing was her reply. Sadness was visible in the howl as her eyes were filled with pain.

Ears twitching as they awaited a response, the only sound was of that of his howl echoing off the rock and trees, the occasionaly thumpfing sound of snow drift falling to the ground below, the wind brushing against him with a almost ghost like wail, frankly, Graymane had not expected a reply but had felt compelled to wait out of respect, she who howled was different, he could feel it in his marrow, in his beating heart. Drooping slightly, Graymane was saddened, half turning away from the overlook, he was about to trot off to the overhang of rock he had been slumbering by to avoid the elements, paw reaching upwards and stretching to begin his move, he froze, the wolf voice howling back through the winds at him.

Spinning on the stop as he faced back the way he had a moment ago, ears perking this way and that as they consumed the depth of the howl, his heart being tugged at by the emotions that had been placed into it, as it were everything this she wolf was. Feelings tugged at emotions, emotions tugged at memories, memories broke him into action as he howled, solemnly, You are not alone now, with that, a harumph escaping his muzzle as he sprang back, legs making hos paws beat at the packed snow fimrly as they carried him at speed. Traveling in the direction he'd heard the howl, he meant to keep good of his expressions, binding him like a blood promise.

Tida stopped, auds perked forward in anticipation. To hear another wolf's howl was something that brought great excitement into her being. She could feel her heart pumping blood to every muscles, through every vein and she could feel her lungs expanding and contracting. She could feel adrenaline in her and that always seemed to come to her whenever there was a howl in the wind even if she did not respond to it. The howls always reminded her that there was still life around her if she wanted to become part of it once more. Once the second howl came back to her, she seemed frozen. She could hear that it was male, and that he was coming.

Tida rose from her haunches, her pillars beginning to walk in a circle now. Her torso twisted with every turn as her appendage turned into new directions. He was going to be here soon because she could tell that their howls were close together and much louder. He'd be here very soon. The lobes pushed back along her neck then perked up once more in fright, and anxiety. She begun to dig into the snow, reaching all the way to the frozen dirt. She scratched at it, hoping to release some of the energy inside her. It helped only slightly.

Tida lifted her plush to the sky, sniffing out any new scents that came around. Her pools scanned the horizon, only seeing vast amounts of pines. Gah! Why am I so afraid of contact with others? she thought to herself as once more she padded around in a circle. Her head shot up as she felt something about to happen, something to do with the weather. She lifted her cranium to the sky as white flakes began to drop aimlessly to the ground. A few landed on her aperature and she laughed. She licked her chops removing whatever melted snow was left on them. Jumping up, she began to balance on her back pillars and snapped her maw at the flying white puff balls and soon she lost her balance and fell backwards onto her her back, laughing at her silliness. She was in a moment of complete Blithe almost forgetting why she was anxious.

Graymane sped along, wind rushing through his ears with only the sound of his powerful paws thumping the snowdrift to acompany it, a primal, natural music that he'd heard so many times, whether it be on the hunt, the chase or otherwise, he loved the feeling of his fur matted back by the sharp gusts of air, the cooling sensation upon his chest, overall, his 'gallop' was one of the few things that made him feel alive within the world of late. Pounding along, Graymane stopped short of a pine tree, a great one at that as it lay fallen in the direction he was intending to take, cracked and splintered, he would no doubt be injured attempting to climb it. Tilting his head this way and that, ears twitching apprehensively as he ponders what actions to take, nose sniffing to keep a constant check on if anything might approach him.

Luckily, for whatever might approach, didn't, air clean of scent, Graymane chose to bound onto a smaller tree the larger one had dragged with it, using it as a stepping stone as he gave a great push with his back legs, pouncing over the fallen giant, landing with a roll, Graymane shook his head with a wolfy grin to abate the snow that had piled on him from the drift.

Climbing back onto all four pours, he gave a quick overview of himself, checking if he hadn't wounded himself in the escapade, satisfied with his lack of harm, he set off once again, the worn game trail marked visibly in the snow, nose slowly picking up the scent of the she-wolf and the scent of a fresh kill. Stopping just before the trail that would lead to her, Graymane pondered what had been mentioned by her, 'alone', 'with nothing'; he contemplated those scant feelings, his mind working on a more base level from his self exclusion, not that he didn't understand their language, he just preferred to look at things in raw substance of emotion and feeling. He inwardly debated, whether to follow up on his given actions to her, deciding to keep his pride in the matter, he slowly trotted his way along the trail, her scent becoming clearer and stronger as he did. Head eventually poking through the foilage that clung to the trail, he watched with some amusement as she played in the snow.

Quietly breaking away from the trail, he crept to the side, paws gently pushing against the snow as he moved closer to the ground, his fur giving a stark contrast to the snow. Eventually laying down nearby as he found a suitably firm spot, he gave a quick bark to grab her attention, only to follow up quietly and almost reassuringly "You are not alone now.", echoing his previous words, he would truly keep to them as he had planned.

Tida had been so involved in the snowfall that she completely was oblivious to the growing scent of the male and to the sudden sounds of not only the male but other creatures such as an eagle soaring above and landing delicately on one of the strong branches of the pine tree. His eyes seemed full of knowledge and experience as it watched the brute come forth towards the femme.

Tida heard the soft bark and reality seemed to come speeding back to her, her entire body growing stiff and rigid. She turned quickly, her fur bristling almost instantly, her tassel raising into an aggressive manner. Her lip curled back into a snarl but she realized that it was the male she had been howling to. Her face became completely pallid, and her tail lowered to a regular position. She bend her head to the side, interested as she took a small step forward. She was still not used to contact, since the last time was when she was a pup taken from her family by Morgra.

Tida lyed down and crawled foward on her belly, her back legs propelling herself forward and her front paws needing the ground. Her tongue hung out in a relaxed manner and her maw was in a goofy grin. "I can see I'm not alone. So you're the one that answered my sorrowful howl." she spoke finally, her voice was a bit rough in the beginning but soon it softened and came out almost song like. She rose back to her feet, arching her back to stretch out her muscles. Be careful Tida. A voice sounded in her head. Her auds swiveled to the side and she raised her cranium up to see the eagle fulffing its feathers. It looked at her, its giant eyes inquiring and almost watching.

"Eagles, They think they know everything..." she spoke. He probably would think her insane.

His furry mind considering her actions, Graymane pieced her together bit by bit in his head. From her cavorting in the snow, to her sudden changes and general acting. He could agree, yes, she has been alone for some time, even he once had a pack, she made it seem like she'd never known one at all. Watching her scuffle on her belly across the snow, drawing closer, he vaguely remembered the humans hunting dogs, the way they acted around their masters and generally how low they might go, No pride... he thought, but like them and her, neither had a chance to learn such pride.

Sniffing the air carefully, he watched as the eagle landed on the branches, as it squawked, as the wolfess seemed to turn and intone something quietly in response, or atleast in reaction. Many of their kind, his and hers, were supersitious of such creatures, thinking they held power, others thought some might hold power through them. Amusedly but unknowing, Graymane was close to the truth. Head twisting to face back at her, her form stretching, he pondered of how many winters her fur had covered her from. Growling for attention, he spoke simply and roughly, as if he had not spoken in a very long time and was unsure of what he might say.

"I am... and I came, in all senses I should not of asked. Your howl was everywhere in the valley, others might come, you may need to move elsewhere and I know a place where no others would go, not even the know it all eagles if you call them such.", standing onto all fours, Graymane gave a wide open mouthed yawn as he cleared his throat, his laying on the ground having displaced some spittle which tickled him ferverently. Happy with his condition, for a muted howl would do him no good in any event to come, he began to turn, head tilting to her as if inquiring if she would follow.

"He thinks I should be alert. I know that but he seems to think otherwise." Tida said with a goofy smile, her tongue hanging out slightly. There was a squack behind her. You must listen to me Tida. Tida rolled her eyes returning them back to the wolf in front of her. Lowering her muzzle as though feeling bad that she had turned her attention to the eagle.

The eagle eyes narrowed and it flapped its great wings and lifted into the air. It swooped low towards them and then with its talons at scraped at Tida's head, pulling out a few hairs. She yelped and the eagle continued flying. Be cautious Tida. You must remember this. "I'd remember it all better if you didn't attack my head!" she howled after the Eagle before it disappeared out of sight.

Tida mumbled under her breath, rather upset at the eagle. Why'd he decide to show his face today? Tida looked up when the wolf spoke of a place where others wouldn't go. Her tassle raised slightly and she lifted her head up. "Alright then. Let us go to this place." She wanted to make up for the strangeness of her talking to a bird. She hoped this wouldn't send him away or anything. "Well, My name is Tida. I never caught yours." she said now. She watched him with her green spiked yellow eyes inquiringly. She padded foward towards him now, her ears perked in his general direction. A crow kawed in the distance and her ears flattened slightly. "Will crows be at this place? They have the nastiest things to say." she spoked more in a whisper now.

Watching with veiled amusement at her as she spoke, definitely reminding him of the hunting dogs and their antics he decided, he startled when she spoke of how the bird 'spoke' to her, how she screamed when the eagle flew at her and pecked and scratched her. Darting ahead a step as if to scare it off, having turned back to her, he shortly found it flew off of its own volition instead.

Turning back towards the tracks, Graymane shook his head as he spoke, his voice simple and plain, betraying no real thoughts or emotions beyond what might already be known, as he spoke his feet carried him back down the path, "No, there are no crows there, not many go near where I created my den, Graymane's den.". His words most likely answering both questions as his thoughts milled like grindstones at what he'd seen, her behaviour... it reminded him of tales from when he was a pup but nothing more.Clearing his mind, he let the thoughts pass as his head turned to peer back at her, checking if she was following.

What did she remind him of?

"Oh Really? Great. The birds just don't seem to shut up. I can't even eat in peace without them begging me to let them eat as well." She sighed, one paw coming up to scratch an itch that began to bug her. Unable to get it, she turned her head and nipped at it, finally silencing the little bugger. She grinned, her pearly ivories shining.

Tida padded forward, her paw prints left in the snow where somewhat larger than what she thought they were. She shook herself, snowflakes falling around her pure white fur. "Well then, lead the way Greymane." she said.
_____

A wolf stood staring into a pool of water watching the two wolves begin walking in the forest from a small clearing. A snarl escaped her furry lips as a paw came crashing down into the water. She glanced up howling with rage. "Kravance!" she screamed. A raven of pure black came soaring down from the walls. He landed on a stalagmite, its beak suddenly going into the folds of it's feathers plucking at itself, fluffing its feathers.

"Yes, Morgra?" it spoke, its voice scratchy and somewhat annoying.
"I want you to find these two.. Find them and then come back to me." She hissed.
"Of course Morgra.." It said before flapping its wings and taking flight. Morgra's body seemed to go limp as her eyes became one with Kravence's. They blinked as one, they thought as one, and they flew as one over the sea of trees towards the two wolves.

Graymane gave a slight incline of his head in acknowledgement, his padded paws rythmiticly beating against the flattened snow of the path he had come up, leading the way for Tida to follow. Brushing through the growth at either side of the path, his nose began to pick up on the scents of animals that had passed by, from game, to other wolves, to Tida herself. He also caught the scent of another Wolf, one he had not smelled in a long time, considering it a trick of his mind he quickly cleared his head of the thoughts.

Morgra wouldn't be here he thought, but it seemed to infer and reinforce his earlier thoughts that Tida did remind him of something. He'd heard the tales, of powers, mystery... after his more recent events, he readily hung onto those tales for some inexplicable reason. Turning his head back towards Tida as he watched the snowflakes frame her form. He checked if she was following as his pace increased, soon into a ready speed he began to move swiftly back the way he'd used to get here, moving over the same fallen tree.

Moving up the slopes to his perch, hopefully with Tida in tow, he glanced this way and that to see who might be watching before finally scrambling up another rock to the entrance of a shallow cavern that reached into the rockface, warm air breathing out of it compared to the chill of the open skies, gesturing his head into the entrance, he spoke lightly, "I found this place many moons ago and I've found no others would come here, its a bit of a safe haven amongst the brush and trees of the forest."

Tida grinned once more before the began to run, her paws beating rythmically with his, her own tongue hanging out happily as they ran. She loved the feeling of the wind flying past her as she sprinted over snow. She couldn't wait until spring just because she enjoyed running through the flowers. Although she was a loner, it didn't stop her from having fun.

A sudden scent seemed to wade over to her and she instantly stopped, a wimper escaping her throat, her ears flattening to her neck and her tail instantly being tucked between her legs and lying against her belly. It was all too familiar, a scent she could never forget as the pain rushed back to her mind sending waves of dizziness towards her. Looking up she realized she had fallen behind Greymane and she instantly jumped back after him. She wasn't going to fall behind.

They began to move up some slopes and Tida had finally caught up. She wasn't panting as she could easily run for long periods of time but sooner or later she'd be out of breath, but not now. They scrambled up another rock before entering a shallow cavern that she had never noticed before. She had roamed the lands for some time and she never even noticed it. She stared up at it in wonder and she couldn't help but to smile softly. A warm breath of air spread over her body, warming her bones. "It's great. I never noticed it before and I've been by here so many times, as well as in my dreams. It is almost like deja vu." She said before sitting down on her haunches and looking at him, her head slightly tilted to the side and ears perked forward as though expecting something.
____

A crow soared over the lands, its call filled with death. More crows seemed to gather around it as the group swarmed over the trees. There was one crow that stood out of the rest, the one leading the group. It was different as its eyes seemed to hold knowledge, something one wouldn't see in the eyes of a crow. It looked around spotting two wolves flying over snow. If it was possible, a smile would most likely be on its beak. It watched as one stopped, looking as though lost, worried. The crow's eyes narrowed, sensing something it was not expecting.

She cannot sense us, master. Kravence thought. Morgra could only hope so as her power did not seem strong enough to figure out anything at the moment. She could only focus on staying inside the birds small mind. Kravence, she knows something. Follow her, do not lose sight! Morgra thought sharply.

The crow dived down leaving the group of crows behind as it entered the pines and snow. It stayed quiet, its beak not moving. It barely flapped its wings unless it was completely necessary. It stopped and landed on a branch watching as the two jumped over slopes and behind a rock, disappearing from view. [i]Gotcha.[i/] Morgra hissed.

Derk walked tiredly through the snow, his stomach constantly reminding him of the fact that he hadn't eaten anything in two days, and while he could keep going for a few more days, if he didn't find anything to eat soon, he doubted he would have the strength to catch anything anyways. He sighed, sitting down on his haunches to rest breifly, closing his eyes as he thought back to what had brought him here. HE had always been a bit strange to the group, always playful, even after he had grown into adulthood, but more importantly he was always seeming to be asking questions, what, where, when, how, and most of all why, questioning the world around him. Recntly his questions had gone far beyond what he could learn in his pack and had left to find his own answers. "Heh, not exactly looking like this was the best move in the world." he said to himself.

The snap of a twig brought back from his thoughts, whipping his head around to see a arctic fox walking out from behind a tree, seeming as though he was smirking at him, "And here I thought all you wolves were supposed to be the great hunters of the world, but you seem to be a rather poor specimen." he said with a slightly amused tone "In fact, I'm geussing the reason you are here by yourself is your pack got tired of taking care of you."

Derk's fur rised at the comments, a growl beginning to emit from his throat, "What did you say you mangy fox, and who the hell are you any way," he growled at the white furred fox. "Merely noting that you seem to be in a poor state of physical condition, not that you comeback seems to be any better show of your mental capacaties as well. As for my name, I have gone by quite a few by now, though you may use Gatal" The fox said to him, turning away and heading deeper into the forest. "Your not much of an entertainment when it comes to conversations though, so I doubt it will be much use to you."

Derk growl escelated quickly, "Get back here you damn fox," he yelled at the fox, not planning on letting the animal get away with his numerous insults, quickly following after him, catching glimpses of him through the trees.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gatal walked through the entrance of the caveren, looking around at the small area, well this is cozy isn't it. Why it's almost a home." he said, looking behind quickly before turning back to the two wolves. "As much as I'd love to stay and make what I'm sure would have been a stimulating conversation, I don't plan on being here much longer, seeing as you two will be having company soon." He said pausing as he looked back to the entrance again. " Infact one of them is almost here, and my what an intellegent one he is, but there are more coming soon," he said, turning to Tida, "Infact I think you two have met before. And here comes the first arrival if I'm not mistaken, and he seems to have taken offense to me for some reason so will be off." He said, walking calmly out of the cavern, seeming to disappear into the snow, though it was probably only the color of his fur.

Seconds later derk appeared at the entrance, panting and looking wildly around the caveren. Hehad been following Gatal for some time now, though only by the glimpses of the fox he had seen and insluts that he heard come at him. He finally seemed to calm down long enough to see the two wolves inhabiting the cave, and took a catious stance, waiting to see if they would attack first.

Tida had almost jumped when she saw the little arctic fox. She instantly stood on her pillars, her fur bristling up, a snarl emitting from her throat as one lip rose to reveal a shiny ivory canine. She instantly lowered the lip when the fox mentioned more company. What did he mean by that? Lifting her muzzle towards the entrance, she sniffed and picked up a scent, almost familiar. She shook her muzzle and looked at the fox but it seemed to have disappeared.

Suddenly, only a few seconds later, a wolf came through and it took on a cautious stance. She knew that stance and had once been in that position before. Walking forward, the light revealing more of her appearance, she tilted her head to one side almost hit with recognition. "Do I know you?" she asked.

Graymane growled as the fox appeared at the entrance, his fur bristling as the scent wafted inwards to his nose, spinning on the spot, he lunged forward a step and bared his nashers in an attempt to scare off the creature. Considering the fact this cavern had been scent marked by graymane enough to warn even the stupidest of creatures that it was the habitat of an alpha wolf, not some mottling pup who would fumble in the snow.

Growling again, albeit not as aggressive as the fox stated its intentions to leave, Graymane began to pad back further into the cavern, hopefully with Tida following before his nose and ears caught sense of the other newcomer to replace the irritable one prior. Graymane knew the feeling of another wolf, albeit he was more of a pup to him than a grown and dangerous thing, the fox was annoying, this one was simply in the wrong place. Turning on the spot once again, Graymane eyed Derk for a moment, as if appraising his wolf before giving pause as Tida spoke.

Graymane knew he hadn't met this one before, or heard, smelled or felt his presence as such, it didn't strike him as odd either that another wolf such as Tida might have crossed paths with him, by the looks of this newcomer he was worn, beaten and starved. Outcast from his pack no doubt Graymane thought bitterly. "I will make point that this is my den; strangers are often not... wanted or... welcomed here, but by the looks of things you would die from another night in the snow.", voice raised for a moment, Graymane left the words hanging as if a small invitation, consensual of the other wolf's presence, for now.

Moving further back into the cave, he beckoned with his head and muzzle, "Come, it is cold near the entrance and warmer further in."

(What Gatal meant by someone you had met was Mogra, but I'll try to work with this)

Derk cocked his he'd to the side, confusion at the she-wolf's question, before easing up a little, taking in her scent before answering "It's strange, I'm almost sure I haven't met you, but your scent is familiar," He said before shaking his head, his temper at the fox coming back, looking around the caveren once again, "That damn fox dissappeared, I know I saw him come up here," He said sighing.

Derk gave a start at the other wolf, before hearing his words. "Thank you, I won't plan on staying too long, as I wouldn't want to overstay my welcome," he said, coming out a bit cold from his impression of the wolf, but knew he was right, he wouldn't last much longer if he couldn'y get a good rest, so he'd have to take the wolf's attitude for now. He started to go where the other wolf told him before stopping "I think there might be a dead animal near here, I saw a flock of crows nearby.By the way I'm Derk"

Tida shook her head as though forgetting the thought. Perhaps they knew nothing of each other, maybe his scent was familiar because she probably smelled it in her travels. There were many explanations. Tida turned to Greymane who was beckoning them further into the cave. Tida nodded before returning her gaze to Derk with a smile. "I'm Tida, I'll allow him," she nodded her head towards Greymane, "to introduce himself. Right now, I'll go get something to eat." Before anyone could object to her, she dashed out, her body melding with the white snow almost instantly.

Tida sniffed around the snow attempting to find perhaps the kill Derk had mentioned. She had also seen the swarm of crows but she had a strange feeling that they had nothing to do with a carcass. She padded around the area of the den first in hopes of finding a hare or anything that had wandered off. Lucky for her, she spotted a lone fawn. It was probably still quite young, its spots still visible. It was bleeting sadly, sinking in the snow; an easy prey.

Tida got low to the ground, her heart pumping blood and adrenaline through her veins to her muscles and brain. She needed this energy, this powerful burst of desire. She watched with giant orbs. She was practically invisible except for the black spot around her eye. The deer didn't notice and when it was close enough for her to pounce, she took the chance and lunged. Her claws extended and dug into the hide. Her fangs slammed into the neck and the deer went down, her entire weight on the defenseless creature. She bit into the jugular and it instantly was silenced.

Tida grabbed its hide and begun dragging it, quite proud of her kill. As she made her way to the cave, she spotted a small river that was surprisingly unfrozen. She dragged her prey over to it and dropped it then stuck her muzzle into the river to clean it. As she pulled it out, she looked into the water, her mind completely relaxed. Suddenly images began to spring about the water, colors coming together forming shapes. She spotted a wolf, dark and mysterious, coming over a large hill, its body worn and full of experience from the way she walked. She had an evil gleam in her eye. Tida gasped. She knew the hill. It was the hill she was previously on.

Tida didn't like the fact that she could see it. "I closed it! I refuse to see this!" she shouted, her body growing shaky. She splashed the water, the images coming apart and she grabbed the deer and ran as fast as she could with the carcass in her mouth. She hurried back to where the cave was and dragged it in. She dropped it infront of the two wolves and stood away for them to devour all they wanted. She licked her lips before heading towards the entrance, her anxiety overcoming her. She was twitchy, her tail moving to keep her mind busy. She's coming... she thought.

Graymane padded his way further into the cave, seemingly going deep into the rock face of this small mountain, the natural geothermic steam and heat making it amiably warm and hot in the further recesses, leaving small puddles where the stray snow from the outside melts rapidly in piles. His paws causing the occasional splashing sound as he went through one of these puddles, his ears twitching at the sounds, including that of Tida declaring her intent to go prowl for food in the growing blizzard outside.

Turning his head back towards Derk, he appraised the wolf further in the dim light of the cave, the low light of the outside sun reflecting off the weather beaten and smoothed rocks just outside that would shield the entrance from view. His mind pondering the acts of the wolf, his tone and his statements, he obviously seemed annoyed with Graymane's own personal opinion, but considering the situation it was to be expected. In their society, an Alpha was the law in his area and frankly a 'pup' would do well to know that.

Opening his muzzle to speak, his jaw line glimmering slightly before he stated quite simply, "As Tida said. I am Graymane, a name that is known in these parts, I used to lead my pack through the snow and tundra out there, this was our den during the cold periods, now it is only mine.", pausing, as if something had caught in his throat from the words, he began to grumble to himself before wandering around the bend of the cave and out of sight, his voice seeming to raise for a moment to carry back to Derk, "You may go where you please while your here, but I suggest you don't try to follow where I am going."

The word 'suggest' seemed to be laced with threat, as if it was more of an order than a question, eventually the noise of his toughened underpaws and grumblings were muffled out by the noises from outside and the hum of the heat within the cave.

Tida had been standing outside the cave, shivers crawling up her spine and puffing her fur out. She watched the blizzard forming, the snow swirling around the trees and any creature that would get caught in the blizzard most likely wouldn't make it. This made Tida relax a bit at the thought of Morgra having to turn around and wait for the blizzard to end.

Tida picked up the fawn in her jaws and dragged it deeper into the cave. She saw the two wolves, Greymane moving deeper in. She dropped the deer in front of Derk now and called into the cave. "Food..." she yelled.

Tida couldn't sit still. She knew Morgra was out there. How she survived that plummet, she didn't know but she knew that she was coming... for them. Her ears plastered to her head as she waited for Greymane to come back. She needed to tell him. It wasn't safe to stay in the den for too long. Maybe until the blizzard started to subside.
