Hayley was lying on her bed tracing the lines of cracks on her ceiling with her eyes, her hands fiddling with a random piece of cardboard they had hunted out from on top of her quilt. She could hear birds out side her window calling to their lovers, and faint music from one of her neighbours. The only thing that disturbed her was the blasts that ripped through the tranquillity of the evening and sliced through the silence, that was her bubble, like a knife. The sound of gunshots emanated from her brothers room. He was addicted to the Xbox, it didn't surprise her that he was so pale.
After a while she heard her mother walking slowly up the stairs into her bedroom and opening her cupboard of which Hayley thought nothing. Roughly 5 minute following this she heard her mothers footsteps move closer to her door and turning the handle, from which emerged a shrill squeak, she had meant to get it oiled a long while ago.
"Hun... I've got your clothes from the wash I’ll just put them in your..." She stopped abruptly looking down at Hayley laying on her bed, or more precise, what she was holding in her hands.
"Hayley... what... Hayley why have you got a box for a pregnancy test..."'pregnancy test' her mothers words brought her sharply and cruely back to reality. She sat up slowly and looked at the box in her hands
"I... Mum I... I was going to tell you I..."She watched helplessly as her mum dropped her clothes on her bedroom floor beside her door and walked, almost as in a dream like state, as if part of her was missing, into the bathroom before locking it sharply behind her. Hayley could almost hear her mothers tears splash onto her cheeks as she subconsiously tugged her quilt up around her shoulders.

Hayley walked into the formroom, it was obvious she had been crying but she couldn't stay at home, not while her mother was there. She bowed her head trying to avoid the watching eyes of the people in her class, and could only assume what rumors would be thought up next.
