Liam chuckled as Hayley moved the laptop and came back to him, kissing along his jaw. "Well..." he said thoughtfully, wrapping his arms around her waist and drawing her closer to him. "It involves... This." He placed two fingers under her chin and raised it slightly so his mouth could slant across hers, and they stumbled backwards toward her bed. Liam went down first, pulling her with him, and they landed, still kissing, on the edge of the bed, causing the pillows to roll off the other side and onto the floor. Laughing, Liam looked to his right, to retrieve the pillows, and stopped dead. Sat there, right next to his head, a pink box watched him. He raised his eyebrows at it, and took his hand off Hayley's cheek to pick it up, and the colour drained from his face. The label on the box said, in big white letters, Pregnancy Test.

"Uhh..." Liam chuckled nervously, and sat up, picking Hayley up with ease and sitting her on the bed next to him as he swung his feet onto the carpet. "Hales..." he said slowly, holding the box up. "This is a pregnancy test." He was stating the obvious, but it was clear by his voice that he was begging her to tell him he was halucinating. She didn't. He met her gaze evenly, and when he spoke again, his voice was more controlled. "Is there something we need to talk about?"

Hayleys face faded to a sickly, haunted grey. She pulled her knees up to her chin and nodded slowly. "I wanted to tell you... I...", Hayley bowed her head onto her knees as tears cascaded down her ashen cheeks. She wished and prayed that it had never happened; maybe it was an awful nightmare? Hayley felt her throat constrict as she thought about what her parents would say if she was, in fact, pregnant. She looked out the window, towards her door, at a ladybug climbing her wall, anywhere but at Liam and that box.

"I'm scared Liam."

Liam's stomach lurched as Hayley admitted that the test was for her, and he dropped the pink box onto her bedside table. The room spun as she started to cry. She couldn't be pregnant, it wasn't possible. Why? He wanted to go to college, - although, the way his grades were at the moment, most of his teachers thought it unlikely - and he wanted that for Hayley too. What would a baby do to their chances of making something of themselves? He'd seen teen mums before, pushing a buggy with several little kids in it down the street, with no job and no incentive to get one, but hardly ever a teen dad. It was always a much older boyfriend that had sired the children, or a young lad who didn't know what he was doing, but no matter who it had been, they'd bolted the second the test came up positive. Positive... Would Hayley want to keep it? Would she want him around? Would she hate him for doing this to her?

"I'm scared Liam."

Liam snapped back to reality at her words, and it took him no more than five seconds to decide that he wasn't going to be an absentee dad, he wasn't going to bolt if the test came up positive. Reaching out, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to him, so that they were lying back against the bed. He tightened his hold on her, and rocked her gently, kissing the top of her head. "Me too," he murmured against her hair. "But we're going to get through this, I promise. No matter what happens, or what you want to do, I'm going to be here. I won't let you down."

Hayley smiled through her tears when Liam said he wouldn't let her down. She rested her head against his chest letting him rock her back and forth. "Thank you, so much..." She remained in his arms for what seemed hours until her tears had dried up and she felt calmer and more composed.

"I guess I’m going to have to..." she looked sheepishly towards her bathroom door. “I don’t wanna do it Liam... What if it is positive?” she bit her lip praying she would wake up from the nightmare she was in, looking up to Liam hoping he'd tell her everything would be ok, that everything would be as it was before all of this.

Hayley walked out of her bathroom and looked at Liam watching her; she had left the test in the bathroom on the edge of the sink. "Liam... I'm sorry I just can't... Can you look for me...? I know I sound so pathetic but I don't think I can do It." she rushed choking on some of her words.

Liam smiled softly at Hayley's request, and nodded, getting up off the bed and pulling her into a tight hug. "Of course," he breathed, brushing a strand of hair out of her eyes as he pulled away, and then released her, making his way into the bathroom. The test was there, on the sink, watching him just as the box that had held it had done. He sighed, and picked it up. He checked his watch; there was still another minute to go, so he sat on the edge of the bath, and waited.

After what felt like hours, his watch beeped, and he looked down, the nervous feeling in his stomach intensifying. For a moment, he thought he saw two words imprinted on the stick, but he blinked, and when he looked again, the smaller of the two words had vanished. Pregnant. Liam sighed.

Leaving the stick on the side of the bath, he walked back into her bedroom and crossed the room, enfolding Hayley in his arms without a word. He held her closely, tightly, his hand behind her head, guiding her face to his shoulder, and stroking her hair softly. "I'm here," he told her, his voice shaking as he strove to remain calm. "I'm here. For both of you."

Hayley watched as Liam walked over to her and took her in his arms, she felt a solitary tear roll down her cheek. Words betrayed her. she remained motionless in his arms, her safe spot, until she sat down in the center of her bed cradling her knees against her chest... She was pregnant; she had a human being inside her.

"I can't tell mum... not until I have to, she'll kill me, and besides... she's got enough on her plate having to look after me and Joe with dad away on that "business trip", let alone being a grand..."

Hayley cut herself off, she was going to be a mother... a real mum, she unwound her arms and grabbed her blanket, slowly gripping it in her fists...

""I'm going to be a mum..."

Liam was lying next to Hayley on her bed. She had her back to him, and he had his arms around her, their bodies close together for the warmth aswell as the comfort each gained from the other's presence. He hadn't left her side all night, although her mother probably assumed that he hadn't returned when he'd 'left something in his car'; neither of them had bothered to change, and they lay, fully clothed, on top of the duvet. Liam hadn't got much sleep, and he doubted whether Hayley had either, but when the first light of day finally filtered through her open window, he decided it was time to find out. Leaning up slightly, but taking care not to relax his hold on her, he kissed her neck, and rested his head on her shoulder. "You okay?" he asked softly, his hand absentmindedly slipping beneath her shirt to caress her stomach.

Hayley laid in Liams arms for a minute thinking how best to respond to his question, enjoying the feel of his hand on her stomach. She watched as the sunlight crept ever so casually up her wall. Her heart was torn in half; she never asked to be a mother, she didn't know is she would be able to cope with it. what about her future? What about her mother? How would she cope with it? Sure it was a blessing, but a blessing in disguise. She knew how rare it was for the bloke not to run off.

"I'll survive..." She murmered still facing away from him.

She turned and looked Liam in the eyes. At that moment she realised what he must be going through, he didn't want to be a dad, did he? And besides, what would his parents say?

"I love you more than life itself..."

A smile finally worked its way onto Liam's lips at Hayley's words, and he kissed her softly. "You know I love you," he told her, pulling away slightly to rest his hand on her stomach once more, moving his thumb lightly across her skin. A sudden image worked its way into his mind; Hayley, a few months from now, healthy, glowing, her body round with his child. His smile widened at the thought, and he touched his nose to hers. "Have you decided what you want to do yet?" he wondered, his brow furrowing as he thought about the possibility of getting an abortion - and then his eyebrows shot up into his hair as he realised that he didn't want to. But of course, that was Hayley's choice, and he waited patiently for her answer.

Hayley smiled at Liams touch, but that soon faded when he asked her what she was going to do. She couldn't knowingly murder her child, but of course there where complications... as always. What would Liam do if she kept it? Would he really stay with her, or would he loose his bottle and abandon her? What would her parents say? The people at school...

"What... What would you say if i said i wanted to keep it?... God, 'it' sounds so cruel, like it's not even human."

She looked into his soft blue eyes and sighed gently, "I'm sorry..."

Liam smiled wistfully and, not saying a word, pulled Hayley's shirt up and leaned down, pressing his lips to the smooth surface of her stomach. Unlike Hayley, his mind was far from how their parents and people at school would react; that wasn't for now, that was for a Monday morning - the Monday morning that Hayley was finally showing, and they walked into form; her with her hand on the obvious bump straining against her school shirt, him with an arm around her and his hand on hers, as together they supported their unborn child.

He couldn't desert her any more than he could stop loving her, and she needed to know that. He finally pulled away, still not speaking, and met her gaze evenly, a soft smile lingering on his lips as he fell once more into the depths of those beautiful grey eyes.

Hayley smiled at Liam before carefully sitting on the cheap plastic chair behind her desk. She could feel the prickly hot glare from her classmates like daggers digging into her back, watching her every move. "God it's like fricken big brother" she silently mumbled to herself before biting her lip in anticipation, waiting for her form tutor to arrive.

"Oi" It was mark, the cameras were now on him. Hayley focused her attention onto the display on the wall beside her. "So... How much did the poor bugger pay this time?"

She felt hot piercing tears prick the corners of her eyes, she tried to blink them away but it only encouraged more. She let out a loud sob before running out of the classroom and round to the side of the main school building.

Liam sighed as Hayley ran from the room, and he jumped up, pushing his face closer to Mark's from across the desk. "You just couldn't leave it alone could you?" he spat, before pushing away from him and running after Haley.

He found her outside, walking down the side of the main building, and walked up behind her, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her to a stop. His hands found her stomach, and he rocked her gently from side to side. "Heyy, hey, shh," he murmured, resting his head on her shoulder. "Shh. He's just a prick, you don't need to listen to him." His hands circled her stomach, and he kissed her neck softly. "We've got everything we need right here," he told her. "I don't care about anyone else's opinion, especially not Mark's. Do you?"

Luke remained staring at the spot she once was, that fat slut the love of his life. Pregnant, with that jerks baby. He tapped his fingers softly against the desk infront of where he was sitting. Liam wouldn't stay with her, it was clear, he would get scared and abandon her with a baby... and guess who'd be there for her. Luke thought, allowing himself a small smirk.

Hayley slowed down to a brisk walk when she reached the side of the school building and she ignored the sound of foot falls behind her. She almost smiled when Liam came up behind her and she turned round to face him. She lightly rested her head against his shoulder hugging him loosely.

"I thought they would be a least a little bit considerate... But no, they don't see the me they've known for ages and ages, they see the rumors, and the gossip..." She murmured "I thought mark was one of your friends?" Hayley added as an after note.

Liam closed his eyes and held Hayley to him. He had no idea what she must be feeling, but he wanted to make sure she knew that she hadn't just been a quick fling gone wrong to him, as Mark had implied; she meant so much more to him than that, she always had, even when he hadn't shown it. He frowned as he thought about what Hayley had said about Mark being his friend, and realised that she was right; he wasn't his friend, he was a backstabbing bastard who liked making fun of other people's situations - and, more to the point, upsetting his girlfriend. He leaned back, keeping one of his arms around her waist, and smiled softly as he brushed a piece of hair out of her eyes. "You know what? Screw this. Screw Mark. Screw school. We're getting out of here, come on." He took her hand and led her to his car, opening the passenger door for her - something he rarely did - before getting into the driver's side and starting the engine. "Where shall we go?" he mused as he backed out of the school gates, glancing at Hayley with a wistful expression. "Our spot by the lake, maybe?"

Hayley enjoyed the feel of Liams arms around her, protecting her. She looked into his eyes as he brushed a piece of her fringe from hers, Nodding her head slowly at the idea of being beside the lake with him again. Just the two of them, together.

She rested her head against the headrest on the back of the seat she was in, looking out of the window at a small, chocolate coloured, rabbit hop along the edge of the water. She turned her gaze to Liam who was sat beside her. "Do you really want to be a father... or are you only staying because it's the honourable thing? I'm not calling you a liar but please, please be honest." Hayley rushed praying he wouldn't take it the wrong way. She looked into his calm blue eyes and searched, probed for signs of emotion. Of hatred or of insult.

Liam's eyes, like Hayley's, had also been on the little rabbit at the water's edge, until she spoke, questioning his reasons for staying with her. He let out an exasperated sigh, resting his hand over his eyes. "Hayley, I love you," he said simply, shaking his head. He looked up at her, and saw in her face how scared she was of his answer, and his expression softened. She deserved a better answer than that - an honest one. He sighed. "I didn't want to be a father, no. It wasn't something I ever planned on happening, especially not now. I'm not sure that I'd want to be now, if this was anywhere else - anyone else. But now that it has happened, Hayley... Yes, I do want to be a father. I want to father your child, our child. I wouldn't be here if I didn't, honourable or not." He reached out to stroke her cheek with the back of his hand, and rest his other on her stomach, a soft smile on his lips. "I love this baby as much as I love you, and yes, I genuinely want to be there for both of you. I want to make us into a family."

Hayley was lying on her bed tracing the lines of cracks on her ceiling with her eyes, her hands fiddling with a random piece of cardboard they had hunted out from on top of her quilt. She could hear birds out side her window calling to their lovers, and faint music from one of her neighbours. The only thing that disturbed her was the blasts that ripped through the tranquillity of the evening and sliced through the silence, that was her bubble, like a knife. The sound of gunshots emanated from her brothers room. He was addicted to the Xbox, it didn't surprise her that he was so pale.

After a while she heard her mother walking slowly up the stairs into her bedroom and opening her cupboard of which Hayley thought nothing. Roughly 5 minute following this she heard her mothers footsteps move closer to her door and turning the handle, from which emerged a shrill squeak, she had meant to get it oiled a long while ago.

"Hun... I've got your clothes from the wash I’ll just put them in your..." She stopped abruptly looking down at Hayley laying on her bed, or more precise, what she was holding in her hands. "Hayley... what... Hayley why have you got a box for a pregnancy test..."

'pregnancy test' her mothers words brought her sharply and cruely back to reality. She sat up slowly and looked at the box in her hands "I... Mum I... I was going to tell you I..."

She watched helplessly as her mum dropped her clothes on her bedroom floor beside her door and walked, almost as in a dream like state, as if part of her was missing, into the bathroom before locking it sharply behind her. Hayley could almost hear her mothers tears splash onto her cheeks as she subconsiously tugged her quilt up around her shoulders.

Hayley walked into the formroom, it was obvious she had been crying but she couldn't stay at home, not while her mother was there. She bowed her head trying to avoid the watching eyes of the people in her class, and could only assume what rumors would be thought up next.

Liam's head snapped upas everything went quiet in the classroom, and met Hayley's gaze. It was obvious, even from this distance, that she'd been crying, and he gave her a questioning look, concerned for her, not to mention the baby. There was something up - but what? He stood up quickly, crossing the room to meet her as she made her way through the aisle of tables, and took her by the elbow, gently walking her to two seats on their own at the back of the room. Sitting down, he pulled her onto his lap, and stroked her hair away from her face. "What's wrong?" he asked, his eyes searching her face.

Luke watched in silence as Hayley walked into the classroom, bowing her head like a man facing hanging ropes, ashamed of their actions. She had been crying, that much was clear, but why? What had happened, or rather, what had Liam done? Luke watched as Liam led her over to their seat and sat her on his knee, what was he saying? Perhaps he was threatening her making sure she didn't tell anyone what he had done? Maybe he had told her he would leave her? Or had he made her get an abortion? Perhaps he had actually physically harmed her. Hayley deserved better than Liam.

Hayley allowed Liam to walk her back to his seat and put on a weak smile as he sat her on his knee but it didn't last long. She felt a tear blossom in the corner of her eye and wiped it away quickly. She paused for a moment, wondering whether she wanted to tell him and what she should say to Liam. "Mum knows, she found out last night I..." Hayley whispered, her voice creaky from crying too much. She stopped her self, feeling the tears well up in her eyes again. She bowed her head once more, looking at her stomach, wishing she had never gotten into the situation she was in.
