Liam let out a deep sigh, and held Hayley to him, as he thought about the best way to answer. "It's okay," he told her. "She had to find out eventually, and it would've been more stress on you and the baby if she'd have found out later on in the pregnancy. We're gonna deal with this, alright? We'll go see her after school and straighten everything out; that we want to keep it, that I'm going to stay with you, okay? How does that sound?" He didn't have a clue that Hayley was wishing she hadn't gotten pregnant; his mind had been filled with elated thoughts of fatherhood ever since he'd seen the pink box watching him, and didn't think Hayley would be any different. He gave her shoulders a reassuring squeeze, and smiled down at her.

Hayleys heart lifted as Liam spoke, saying that he would sort it out after school. She was nervous for when they got to hers, wondering and worrying about what her mother and Liam would say. Perhaps her mother wouldn't let her keep it? Hayley disregarded such thoughts and her bright smile was genuine this time, she kissed Liam softly on the cheek and ran her fingers along his jaw before thanking him and moving to sit next to him. Her eyes darted to Luke and watched cautiously as he wove his way, through the maze of desks and chairs, towards them.

Luke got to his feet and started to walk towards the back of the class room, avoiding chairs and desks trying to trip him. He stepped over to where Liam and Hayley sat after she had gotten off his lap, something that was obvious, to Luke, she had been trying to do all along. He put his hand on Liams shoulder, gripping onto his jacket, and pushed him roughly against the back of his chair. "What the hell did you do to Hayley" he spat at Liam. He pulled him up so he was standing and let go of his jacket before punching him in the face.

Liam followed Hayley's gaze, confused by her expression, until he saw Luke walking toward them, and he groaned. And then he was on the floor. Liam blinked, dazed, as he lay sprawled on the floor, still on his chair, the back of it digging painfully into his ribs. It took him about five seconds to collect himself, and then he stood up, calmly replacing his chair under the desk. Luckily, the form teacher hadn't arrived yet, and he looked at Hayley. "I'm sorry," he said simply, before jumping over the desk and allowing his fist to collide with Luke's jaw. "I didn't do anything to her, you scumbag! What the fuck do you think you're doing, waltzing over here like you own her, throwing punches wherever you like? You have no idea, do you?" He punched him again, this time in the stomach, and Luke doubled over. "So go and sit down, and shut the fuck up, and don't fucking even dare look at me like that, or I'll kick your face in, you understand?" He sat back against the desk, breathing hard, and shot a glance at Hayley. "I'm sorry," he said again.

Hayley stood up sharply as Liam jumped over the desk and started attacking Luke, she watched as Liams fist attached itself to Lukes face. "What the hell do you think you're doing?!" she shrieked at the two of them over the sound of Liams shouts and the screams and encouraging chants of Fight, Fight, Fight of the others in her class. "Luke, Liam hasn't done anything you prick, how dare you even consider doing something like that?!" she added, in the same tone. She followed Liam with her eyes as he walked back with an apology for her. She nodded her head ever so slightly and quickly turned, watching Luke walk off like a scolded puppy with its tail between its legs.

Luke glared in the direction of the 'happy' couple before diverting his gaze towards the floor in front of him, he walked back to his desk mumbling silently to himself before sitting down and tapping his foot impatiently against the table leg. He could not believe that Hayley has screamed at him for trying to defend her, Couldn't she see what was going on? Could she honestly not see what Liam was doing?? He sat down quietly, silently vowing revenge on Liam for what ever it was that he had done to her.

♥♣♠♦ Timeskip, After School ♦♠♣♥

Hayley and Liam walked back to her house holding hands. She squeezed his hand gently, needing the support, like she was preparing for an oncoming storm, Hurricane mum. She unlocked and opened the door as quietly as humanly possible so as not to disturb anyone even though she knew they would be disturbed in a manner of minutes. She led Liam towards her front room door and slowly opened it, peeking her head round it like a timid mouse checking for prowling cats outside of its mouse hole. She saw her mother trying to busy herself on the computer, refusing to look at the door to welcome her daughter with her usual smile and a brief hug.

"Mum... We need to talk... It’s not just me, Liam's here too..."

Liam followed Hayley into her living room, but paused in the doorway. He didn't want to intrude; this was a family thing, and no doubt her mum would think he was interfering. But he was part of this now - his family, with Hayley and their baby - and her parents needed to know that.

He walked into the living room, facing her mother, who eventually turned away from the computer she was attempting to occupy herself with, and took Hayley's hand in his. "Look, Mrs. F," he began, unsure. He cleared his throat and started again, and when he spoke his voice was stronger and more sure of itself. "You know Hayley's pregnant. You found the test. Okay, you caught us, but you had to find out eventually. But there's something you should know." He took a deep breath as he asked himself for a final time whether he meant what was about to come out of his mouth; but of course he did. "I love your daughter, I'm in love with her, and we're keeping this baby. I'm not going to leave her to raise it on her own, I'm not asking her to have an abortion. We want to keep it, and I want to help raise it; I want to be with her, and I want us to raise our baby together. And, if I do say so myself, I think I'm going to make a great dad, and Hayley will make a great mum. So we're asking for your support on this - not because we need it, but because we'd like it if we had it. If we don't have it, well, you're going to have a grandchild anyway."

He breathed for what felt like the first time since he'd walked through her front door, and looked down at Hayley, hoping he'd said the right thing. Raising his gaze to Mrs. Fisher, he waited somewhat nervously for her reaction.

Hayley smiled at Liam as she listened to him say his piece then bit her lip waiting for her mothers’ verdict. She knew her mum wouldn't make her do anything, but Hayley was scared in case her mother shouted at her, she hated conflicts, she hated people shouting, especially at her, and besides, she hated the idea of hurting her mum.
"Mum I... Are you ok?" She questioned warily, she could see her mothers expression change, She didn't know what to make of it, was her mum angry? Was she going to shout at her for getting pregnant? Or was she so overwhelmed with it all she didn't know what to make of...

No daughter of mine is having a child at the age of 17. Hayleys mother choked, holding back tears, before pausing to turn away from the computer screen and watch her daughters expressions. The other day -before all this had happened- it had seemed only days since her daughter was the little child with pigtails in her hair who never seemed to tire no matter how much she ran around. But now... Now it seemed like the years it really had been. "I'm sorry Hayley but you are not keeping it. You can't make me change my mind. I'm going to take you to the clinic tomorrow."she paused before focusing her attention in Liam "Liam... I want you to leave my daughter alone, go any where near her and you will regret it. I am going to phone your parents later, i would like you to now leave my property." She said, deciding that, that was it, she turned back to the computer screen expecting Hayley to run to her room and for Liam to either attempt to have a go at her or to leave. Except...

Hayley stared, still as a statue, watching her mother, in utter horror, she couldn't comprehend what she had just said, her own mother was forcing her to have an abortion. "No..." She said looking at her mothers face as it fell into a state of shock as if her mother couldn't believe her daughter had defied her. "No mum, you can't tell either of us what to do... I'm keeping my baby. You’re going to be a grandmother whether you like it or not." even Hayley was shocked at what she had just done, she had told her mother off, she had been brought up to respect them, this time, however. Her mother over stood the mark.

Liam's eyes narrowed. Okay, Mrs. Fisher had made her wishes very clear, and that was all well and good, except for the fact that he wasn't going to take them into account. She was talking about taking Hayley to the clinic, to get the baby - his baby - aborted. And Hayley didn't look like she was going to say anything. Well that wasn't on. He opened his mouth to protest, but Hayley cut him off, hurling abuse at her own mother.

Liam stood there, staring at her, amazed, but proud. He put his arm around her shoulders, his other hand on her stomach, and decided to say his piece anyway. "She's old enough to make her own decisions now, Mrs. Fisher. I know we're young, but we know what we want, and we want this baby. I'm going to give everything I have to your daughter and our child, Mrs. Fisher; I'm not just going to leave them in a gutter to look after themselves. I'm not a bastard, Mrs. Fisher. I do have morals. And its not just morals; I love her, I love them both. So if we don't have your support, well, I guess we'll manage without it." He sighed, realising he'd just seriously hammered Hayley's mother into the ground, but didn't really care. "Come on, Hales, lets get out of here." He released her to take her hand, and pulled her toward the front door. Pausing before stepping out of the house, he pulled her into a tight hug, and kissed the top of her head, murmuring against her hair; "You did really good in there. I love you."

Hayley leaned close to Liam as he held her and squeezed his hand gently as he led her out of the house. She felt a tear roll down her cheek "Liam... Where am i supposed to go? I can't stay there, not now." She buried her head in his shoulder as she felt more tears join the original. She had just had a go at her mother. Her mother had tried to force her into an abortion! "I can't believe my mother... Uhm Liam..." she looked behind her at the front door "Liam... If I grab some clothes I... I don't suppose I could... crash at yours?" She rushed, looking into the depths of his blue eyes attempting to blink back tears. She nervously pushed her fringe away from her eyes waiting for his to decide what to say.

Liam looked down at Hayley in surprise. She wanted to stay with him? He loved her, but would he be able to live with her? What would his parents say? None of this mattered, of course. He couldn't say no, not to her, he knew this; not when she looked at him so hopelessly. It broke his heart. He placed his hands on her shoulders, running them down her arms and finally stopping at her waist. "Of course you can," he told her, leaning into her to rest his forehead against hers. "Stay as long as you want, my parents won't mind. They don't care much about what I do anyway." He pulled away to brush his lips against her blonde hair, and then released her hips. "Go get what you need, I'll wait in the car. I think your mum'll hit me with her rolling pin if I stay much longer." One last, brief kiss, this time on the lips, and Liam pushed past her to his car, sitting in the drivers seat but not starting the engine as he waited for her.

Hayley smiled when Liam said she could stay at his, but her smile barely reached her eyes, she was scared about what her mother would say, and how she would cope on her own with her little brother. She was scared of what her dad would say if he ever bothered to come home. She turned back to her front door, pushing it open as quietly as possible. She tip-toed up to her bedroom and grabbed a bag out of the back of her cupboard, throwing in her clothes, makeup and shoes before wandering to her en suite and grabbing her toothbrush and then scanning her room for anything else she should take. She grabbed a couple of items before zipping the bag up and leaving her room and started walking towards the top of her stairs. She looked around at her brothers’ bedroom door. He was out with one of his mates, she remembered him telling his... Their mother, that he would be going there after school, this morning.

Hayley walked through his door and looked around absorbing every detail, from the socks strew across the floor to the X-box controller sitting haphazardly on the edge of the TV, doing everything in its way to stop itself from falling to its possible death. She grabbed a piece of paper off the floor and a pen from his shelf and scribbled a quick note of goodbye and left it on his pillow before leaving the room and making her way back downstairs and out of the front door towards Liams car.

Liam glanced at Hayley as she got into the car, and took one hand off the steering wheel to cup her face. His eyes searched hers, and he could tell she was feeling apprehensive about leaving, and he smiled softly. "You're not leaving forever, you know," he told her, his voice gentle. "But are you sure? I know your mum's a bit of a cow, but she only cares about you, and she is your mum, so I'd understand if you wanted to stay. It's not too late."

He released her face and put his hand back on the steering wheel, watching her closely, waiting for her decision. He would drive her back no matter what time of day or night she decided she wanted to go home, no doubt about it, but he didn't want her to have to return with the guilt of having left on her shoulders to face the music from her mum if she was having second thoughts now. He didn't want her to deal with that, and not just because stress wasn't good for the baby. He smiled wryly. Since when had he become so mushy?

Hayley thought about ditching the idea, but she looked behind her and into the front room window and she could see her mother tapping at the keyboard somewhat violently and decided it wasn't a good idea. When the time came she would face the onslaught head on, but now this time, not now. "I'd really rather not... But if you'd rather, I... I would face her..." She mumbled, looking down at her stomach, was Liam only offering because she was such a pathetic thing he couldn't say no? No way, this was Liam! He was no way near bordering soppy. He got into fights, he ignored his parents, he walked out on his teachers. But then... He'd seemed to change since they had become expecting parents, what if he really despised the idea of her moving in? The idea of Liam of all people pitying her made her feel almost as huge as a mouse. She battled furiously to hold back the tears. Yeah, crying, that's not pathetic in the slightest. "Liam... what do you think of me? Honestly?"

Liam looked down at Hayley in bewilderment. What was she thinking, asking such a question? He reached out and touched her face, tucking her hair behind her ears. "I think you're crazy," he laughed, obviously joking, but then became serious. "Honestly? I think you're the most amazing person I've ever met, Hales. You're beautiful, you're strong, you're the mother of my child. And I think you're going to make a great mum." Had this been what she wanted to hear? He didn't know; he didn't care. This was the truth. He placed two fingers under her chin and raised it, making her look at him. There were tears in her eyes. "I love you so much, Hayley. You know that, don't you?"

Hayley couldn't help but smile at Liams words and leant forwards to kiss him before leaning back against the seat and running her hands across her stomach."I love you so much Liam, I wouldn't be able to do this without you... of course I wouldn't have to but I’m glad that I do and... I’ll shut up now" Hayley rushed out before slowing to a mumbled halt. She looked back through the front room window and looked to see her mum but she wasn't there anymore, Hayley looked up and saw her spying through her bedroom window pretending to be folding sheets. Hayley turned back to face Liam "Can we go now?"

♠♣♠

Hayleys mum heard Hayley try to open and close the door quietly and walked up to her room, she wasn't spying she just wanted to see if Hayley was alright. She grabbed a random sheet out of her closet and unfolded it pretending it had just been lying around and stood at the end of her bed folding it and unfolding it watching as Liam and Hayley spoke to one another. She had decided straight away that Liam was bad news, Luke, however, was always the one Hayleys mum had mentally paired up with her daughter, he was a respectable kind person who didn't look for trouble and he had never gotten her daughter pregnant.

Liam pushed his key into the lock and pushed the door open, motioning for Hayley and her bags to stay outside for a moment while he worked out exactly who was in. "Mum?" he called into the house. "Dad?"
"Liam, is that you?" His mum came into view, walking through from the kitchen to pause in the living room doorway. She smiled when she saw him. "You're late."
"I know, I had some stuff to do. Uh, Mum?"
"Who's that behind you?" Her smile widened when she saw Hayley; it had been so long since Liam had taken an interest in a girl.
"That's what I wanted to talk to you about." Liam reached behind him to put an arm around Hayley's waist and guide her into the house. "This is Hayley, Mum. She's my girlfriend, and we need to talk to you." He watched his mother's face fall, and felt incredibly guilty for not having warned her before bringing Hayley here.
"She's pregnant, isn't she?"
"Yes.." Liam said slowly. "And her mum kicked her out, so I said she could stay here. That's okay?"
His mother's eyes narrowed. "Why did her mum kick her out?"
"She wanted her to have an abortion. We said no."
"Hmm..." Her brow furrowed, and she seemed deep in thought, but eventually her expression softened and she stepped sideways to allow her son and his pregnant girlfriend into the living room, closing the front door before following them herself. Liam sat down on the sofa and pulled Hayley onto his lap, wrapping his arms around her middle; his mum stood infront of them. "Of course you can stay here, Hayley," she said. "You're most welcome. I'm Emily, by the way. I'm not sure what your father will say, Liam, but I won't let him fight me on this."
"Good. Thanks Mum, this means a lot."
Emily flashed a smile at Hayley and made to leave the room, pausing just before entering the kitchen to give Liam a worried look. "I hope you know what you're doing," she said softly, before leaving the room. Liam sighed and tightened his hold on Hayley. "You okay?" he asked her, his eyes searching her face, his voice concerned.

Hayley followed Liam towards his front door and waited when he motioned to her that she should wait. She heard his mother talking to him and saw her head from behind Liams. She nodded her head politely at Liam’s mother as he introduced her but didn't lift her head after that. She didn't know what to say or where to look. Hayley wished that they hadn't suddenly sprung it upon Liam’s mothe... Emily. She followed Liams and his mother into the front room letting Liam pull her onto his lap. She looked gratefully into his mothers eyes but looked away again as she felt tears tickle her eyes as she thought about her own mother. She flickered a smile at Emily as she made to leave the room but it soon disappeared. "I hope you know what you're doing," Emilys word brought it all back to her. She was pregnant and she had no idea what she was going to do, how she... they would cope. She heard Liam ask how she was. She didn't know what to say, how to answer, she just pulled his arms away and muttered an excuse to leave the room. She felt sick. "I'm going to get my bag before someone steals my stuff... Shall I leave it... Where can I leave it?"

♠♣♠

Hayleys mum jumped when the doorbell rang. She quickly composed her self before walking down the stairs to open the door. She had been sitting on hayleys bed, looking at the stuff she had left, in particular a picture she had found laying on her desk. It was of the four of them, before everything had gone wrong. Before Neil had run away. She cracked the door open and peered outside. It was luke, she open the door fully and sighed softly "Why couldn't it have been you" she muttered silently before signalling to him to enter her domain. "How can i help you love?" She asked, leading him into the living room, her smile reaching her eyes, thinking how it'd be if he was with hayley instead, but it soon fell when he asked where Hayley was.

♦♥♦

Luke rapped his knuckles lightly against the door and waited. He knew someone was in, he had looked through the window and saw the computer screens light intruding the serenity of the natural light seeping through the net curtains. He rang the bell deciding that knocking wasn't going to favor him today. He saw Hayleys mothers figure behind the textured window and greeted her with a smile when she opened the door to him. He allowed her to lead him to the livingroom before asking after hayley. He could see her face fall, clearly she wasn't there. He wasn't in the mood for heartfelt sorrow and so cut her off when he saw her lips crack apart. "Mrs Fisher, Can i speak to you instead then? I think you'll agree with what i have to say."

Liam frowned when Hayley didn't answer his question, but overlooked it for now and stood up with her to pick up her bags. "Come on," he said gently, walking up the stairs and into his room. He put the bags down just inside the door - they could be sorted later - and wrapped his arms around Hayley's waist, pulling her to him, holding her close. They walked backwards until walked into the bed, and then they were lying against the pillows, her head on his chest, his fingers running through her hair. "Talk to me," he murmured, his voice pleading, like it was causing him physical pain to see her upset. "What are you thinking?"

Hayley obediently followed Liam up to his room and was somewhat surprised that she was staying in his room despite it making sense, where else was she going to stay? In the bath? She layed with him on his bed resting her head on his chest loving his company. "Mum hates me, she's ashamed of me... Uhh, I don't care... I just wish I could have said goodbye to my brother, I’m going to try talk to him at some point, even if it means sneaking to my own house." She sighed gently, feeling sorry for herself. She had never dreamt she would be pregnant, but then, she had never dreamt she would be with Liam. She ran her hand inside his shirt and across his stomach. "I love you Liam..."

♥♣♠♦Timeskipping♦♠♣♥

Hayley laid on the bed in the clinic squeezing Liams hand, clinging to him for the support she needed. She listened to the doctor speaking to her but didn't really hear her. She could feel the cold jelly on her stomach and looked at Liam as the doctor ran the device across her stomach, scanning for her child. She looked up at the screen as she heard the doctors’ voice pipe up again. "Hayley, there's your baby, It's looking healthy, I can tell it's going to be absolutly beautiful" the doctor said to the couple, smiling brightly, it was clear she loved this part of her job. "And... Would I be correct in saying you didn't want to know the gender?" she directed at the pair, at Hayley in particular, and saw her nod her head before blurting out

"No, no way, I want it to be a surprise" Hayleys smile lit up her face, she was really looking at her baby... Their baby.

If Liam had been asked to describe the emotions coursing through him when that peanut-shaped creature appeared on the monitor at the end of the bed Hayley was lying on, he would have been unable to. He felt tears prick at the corners of his eyes as an overwhelming joy enveloped him. He was going to be a dad - and right there, that unbelievably beautiful blob on the screen, that was his child.

He looked up as Hayley answered the nurse's question, and squeezed her hand as he nodded in agreement. "Yeah, me too," he managed to choke out, his voice constricted somewhat. "I don't care if it's an alien, it'll be our alien."
"Right then." The nurse chuckled softly, but when she glanced down to consult her clipboard, her face fell slightly. "Although I think I already know the answer to this, given your age, I have to ask you - both of you - if you are one hundred percent certain that you want to keep this baby. You see, it will be too late to do anything about it very soon."
Liam wasn't the least bit bothered by this. He knew his answer, and he was fairly certain he knew Hayley's. But it was probably better to ask her, just so he didn't insult her or something.
The nurse smiled. "I'll be back in a bit, to let you two talk." She left the room.

Liam looked down at the mother of his child, so beautiful even now, sat in a hospital gown - although he couldn't say he wasn't surprised; Hayley would look beautiful in anything - and smiled softly. "So," he ventured, in an almost sarcastic way. "Are we keeping this baby?" He frowned slightly. He understood why the nurse had had to ask them this, and it really wasn't a question to be taken lightly. If she was having any second thoughts, he needed to know so they could talk about them. "Really Hayley," he said quietly, clearly serious now. "Are you sure about this?"

Hayley looked at Liam in disgust; he was asking if she wanted to abort her baby. She jumped off the hospital bed and grabbed her clothes from the chair behind the screen before turning towards Liam "How dare you. You know I wouldn't give it up. Do you want me to?! Do you really want me to abort my baby???" She walked out of the room without waiting for an answer before turning in the direction of the ladies. She locked herself in a cubicle before pulling the gown over her head and dressing in her own clothes. She abandoned the gown on the side beside the sinks and grabbed her bag, making her way outside.

She looked around at Liam’s car wishing she had another choice but this was her only way of getting home. It was too far to walk and she had no money with her. She leant against the side of the car, presuming that Liam was talking to the doctor.

♥♣♠♦timeskip♦♠♣♥

The drive home was chillingly silent, not a single word was exchanged. It seemed to Hayley that the world knew what had happened and knew not to disturb them. When they got back to his it seemed as if the car didn't want her to get out, once she had fought her way out she steamed across his garden and slammed the door open. she left it open behind her as she ran up the stairs to lock her self into his ensuite bathroom.
