"Kingdom Come" D&D 3.5e (OOC Closed to New Characters)

Topic Tags:

Forum for completely Out of Character (OOC) discussion, based around whatever is happening In Character (IC). Discuss plans, storylines, and events; Recruit for your roleplaying game, or find a GM for your playergroup.
Also, Ponats, where is your character located? Hopefully the caravan has not already reached the Tor. (The Tor is not just a hill. Its a Tomb that dates back to an ancient evil humanoid kingdom that was located in this area.

You could happen upon our pitiful little group as we huddle beneath minimal shelter, and offer to help. Just a thought; play with it as you will.

O heart, lament not, for this world is only metaphorical.
O soul, grieve not, for this abode is only transient.

Um, I've posted my bio/personality and finished appearance in the Accepted Characters thread.
So... Yeah. I'll probably wait until one or two other people have posted before I start, just so I can get a grip on what exactly is going on/what everyone else is doing.

Thanks, Liden.

Also, the real shelter is inside of the Tor. As the storms in this area aren't simple lightning storms. They are vicious storms, containing high winds, hail, lightning that seems to strike everywhere, massive rain that seems to blind you, so you can see that staying outside in this time, even for a druid, would be very difficult.

Er... oops? xD

Uhms... so what should I do now? xD

In all reality, I had no idea what I was doing with Tor. I was just trying to start cooking there. >>
Meh.

Haha, thats alright. Perhaps you could edit your post and act like you are nearing the Tor with the NPCs in the Caravan? Inside the Tor there is plenty of room for the 8 PCs, and the caravan, assuming that they are numbered less than 20. I was trying to keep a level of suspense, but that may not be appropriate for this kind of play-by-post :P The Tor and the Tomb is where the first adventure will take place.

So, can we start posting In Character now?
Beware the darkly cute ones ^_^

I edited it, not in Tor. On the path. I sent Aythr a whisper in chat that we are not in Tor. >> He/she should be editing too.

Okay. Yes, you can post IC now. If you aren't with the caravan, your character probably should be heading to the Tor, unless he/she has an intelligence score of... 1. I'll post the description of the Tor in probably 30 minutes. :)

Okay, I'm about to make my post in the IC, but I'm not quite certain about the skill checks (Ponats took a cooking check and Aythr a survival one.). What kind of check would I need as one of the bandits approaching the Tor through the storm? And how, in general, do I state a 'check'?
Sorry I'm so clueless, but I haven't played in forever, and even then I only played once or twice...

He/she?

Riiight.

Anyway, yes, I edited my post, and that should work. It something is still wrong, hit me in the face with your hammer or morningstar or whatever bludgeoning weapon you most certainly enjoy having at your side, Ponats.

I can see how listen and spot checks are gonna be a pain in the butt. He can't assume that we heard or saw something, so we have to cut our posts short... bummer.

Well you can hear the rain and thunder and you can see the rain drops causing things to move, I won't even image what kind of penalty there is. I am going to assume the DM allows automatic listen/spot checks. (Cause you are kinda always listening and spotting. xD ) But it is whatever Krogren prefers. ^^

Is there a specific order that we have to post in outside of combat?

You have no idea about the penalty... Its pretty huge. I was just double checking the DMG, and there were a couple of penalties I forgot about, so yeah, its ridiculous. The winds also give a penalty on all ranged combat.

SleepyShadow: No, there is no set order to post outside of combat. However, I would prefer it if we had most of the characters post before the same character posts again; unless its a line of conversation or something of that nature.

New Concept:
Storm Peace:
The custom of storm-peace evolved many, many years go when another few years of storms plagued this area. As this new set of storms has been hitting this area for the past year, the custom has come alive again. Basically, an automatic truce exists between all parties that seek shelter, regardless of people's feelings toward one another. It applies to all thinking humanoids, and the characters native to this area already know about it. The merchants also know of this concept, and will explain it to the other characters if needed. Even Chaotic - Evil humanoids are bound by it, as fighting in this sort of weather is far too dangerous.

Ah, interesting concept. I am going to assume it was explained by the caravan leader. (Or druid.)

Yeah, the penalty is some number I don't want to see to be honest. xD

I'll guess I work on my next post. Are we assuming automatic rolls for that? (Listen/spot, etc.)

Okay... So that pretty much makes the bandits a bit useless.
Perhaps they'll just attempted to attack? (But not because of a reminder of the Storm Peace???)

Anyway, it's 1 Am here so I'm going to head off to bed... Hopefully I'll be able to catch up to you all tomorrow...
Night.

I suppose it's time I got my feet in the door, so to speak. Sorry for waiting so long to post, but I have had no access these past couple hours.

Oh yes, I forgot that answer. Mostly automatic rolls, so you don't need to give me spot checks unless you want to (If you can aptly describe exactly what you are looking for, I give circumstance bonuses to the rolls. )

Several choices: They could decide to go for different shelter, attempt an attack but stop because of the Storm Peace, wait too long and are forced to go into the Tor then be reminded of Storm Peace, or my personal favorite, I could have them killed by a lightning bolt, and then your character could join up with caravan because she can't really take them all on by herself.

Well, the bandits don't have to listen to the 'peace' thing tho. Could always just try to roll thru. Who is controlling them would be interesting to know, cause player characters can't 'control' people until level 6 with the Leadership feat. (Unless something special happens. xD )

Well, I am going to hold off for now. I'll wait to see how everything is posting out before making another.
