We seem to be jumping around a lot. Hopefully we'll fall into a rhythm soon enough so it's not as chaotic. I thought we were still on the road while I wrote my first post, but I got ninja'd by Ponats :D.

I know what you mean, I like to take my time with my posts and make them good, but then I get ninja'd by like three people (Ponats) and suddenly I have to re-write my whole post... very annoying

Perhaps we should stick to turn-taking, so everybody gets a chance to update their character's status before another round begins. But of course we can't wait around forever if somebody's taking too long to post, so in that situation it would be alright to move on.

Agreed. We need a form of 'order' in the posts. At least 5 people need to post before you can respond, unless you are in conversation amongst only two characters. This should cut down on our problem.

Also, if a battle erupts between the caravan and the bandits, the bandit NPCs will be under my control.

After about 4 today (US Central Time) I will be gone, and not have access to the internet for the remainder of the day until late tonight when I get back home. I'll check back here then; but after 4 don't expect any Dungeon Master Posts. Attempt to wait for those who have not posted at all in the thread, as they need to roleplay their entrance and how they are getting to the Tor.

As for the bandits, one of them just died (Lightning bolt, 10% chance and I rolled it... how lucky can I get?) This may serve as a warning to the other bandits that the storm is getting very much worse. I've wrote up a quick info sheet for the bandits, and I'm assuming that there were four plus the PC. I will post the lightning bolt scene, and what it means for the PCs (Particularly Elros and LidenZarroc's rogue).

Final version of Denford.

Personality/History;

Steady-headed and down-to-earth, Denford seems an average-minded lad for his age, not quick to anger nor enquiring... except for when magic is on the line.

Born to a pair of city conjurers fond of displaying their talents in the metropolis square, he learnt the trade at home slowly by peeking glances at his mother's and father's spellbooks, never getting caught. At the age of sixteen, presented with a spellbook of his own inscribed with the six spells Acid Splash, Dancing Lights, Arcane Mark, Magic Missile, Obscuring Mist, and Mage Armour, and a small backpack with pockets, filled somewhat with clinking gold coins, he was sent off into the world to make a living for himself.

He left the city and, years later, came about a human-filled gatepost, within which he was detained for a few days while the soldiers posted there inspected his belongings; evidently the land past the gate was beleaguered by what survivors said were horrible storms, raining down hail the size of a book and lightning burning down entire villages. His spellbook was soon found, and a few stationed wizards attempted to read the script inscribed by Denford's parents, to no avail, and soon they requested he read it to them. Of course, as there was nothing in the tome that could possibly create a storm of similar magnitude that was described previously, he was let past into the vast, vast world that lay beyond the post...

For the previous few days he's had no luck finding shelter or people. Finally finding the familiar landmark of the Tor on the horizon, he angled his position towards it and headed off...

Appearance;

Clothed in a blue linen shirt and a pair of clothen leggings, his attire does practically nothing to defend him from the elements and combat. He wears all-purpose boots on the foot-wear side.

Denford has short, brown, unkempt hair; his eyes are the commonest shade of brown found in his parts. His skin is pale, no doubt due to the lack of sun seen in Faerun since the coming of the Lightning Storms. He stands approximately 5'7 and would weigh 107 lb. on a Terran scale.

Remember that Elros gets a +1 on his Spot check against Saoirse and the bandits' Hide checks, and a +1 on Listen as well, though he probably can't hear anything anyway.

StandardFiend: Which is negated by the -4 penalty due to the storm. Which will get worse shortly.

Edit! Actually, I will be waiting till later tonight to post again. I need to have Rigel to post what his character is doing. I also am waiting for SlowlyCrazy's Loche to update saying if he is inside, or outside the entrance to the Tor. If so, I will need to make spot checks for him also (But I doubt he will be able to see anything)

When I post tonight, the storm will begin worsening (Those familiar with the DMG will see that it is turning into a powerful storm), and it will force everyone to seek shelter somewhere. As the Tor is the only place around, you will have to get inside, and stay 5 feet away from the entrance, as the winds will be hurricane force. Since the bandits are under my control, we are effectively waiting on Rigel, and myself to post. Conversation may continue inside the Tor without any threat of outside or inside interference.

Well, it still evens out at a -3 instead, right? ;)

Basically :P I believe I could apply several other penalties too, haha. But I'm not right now (Doesn't help that I rolled a 3 on your spot check :-/ )

Hah! Fail! Apparently Elros spun around to have a gander at the lovely stone wall behind him.

Do you people honestly read anything I post? I said that Loche was sitting just outside under a lip watching the storm.

I read it. He was sitting there "still and quiet as stonework" if I remember correctly. I was going to have Elros say something to him, since according to Krogren, Elros spotted him incoming at the last moment, but then we sort of jumped forward a bit, and Tanya began talking to Elros, so I had to respond to that.

I'm not mad at you Standard Fiend, I'm frustrated because it's happened twice now where people fail to realize where my character is when I spell it out very clearly like you said. Krogen, Loche is still outside, watching the storm... I'm also not a big fan of the random time skips people take.

Okay, I was under the impression that the Standard rules don't allow for using Diplomacy or other such attitude changing skills on other Player Characters. PH: "You can change the attitudes of others (nonplayer characters) with a successful Diplomacy check" (Page 71). Since we are roleplaying our characters, I won't allow a diplomacy check between two PCs. Necrolegion will have the choice of saying if his character is affected by the Diplomacy check/intimidate check by Ponat's Character Lancet. Also, my post will be up in a few minutes (10 probably), I will address the battle, the worsening storm, and the various checks.

How will we be handling combat? Will a description of our attacks matter at all?
Beware the darkly cute ones ^_^

Yes, they will matter. Though take into account that I will give penalties for certain complex maneuvers "I spin my sword around like a jedi, and in quick fast strikes attempt to simultaneously disarm and strike my opponent" <- that kind of maneuver, depending on how I roll, will probably get your own leg cut off, rather than your opponent's. However, good descriptive posts of what you wish your character to do (And possibly how he will respond to a counter-attack since we can describe how we block attacks.) may be given bonuses depending on if you give knowledge that would help you hit your opponent. Also how you strike your enemy (For example you cut his arm, he will receive a penalty on attacks with that arm from then on until it heals).

Also a good line of combat post:
"Loche calms his being, and prepares for his strike. Knowing the anatomy of a human, he plans to hit the bandit in the side with his unarmed attack. The force should knock the wind out of him, and perhaps damage his kidney. Loche attempts a feint, faking a strike to the left side of the bandit's face, before lashing out with his other hand attempting to strike the human on the side. He plans to jump back to evade the bandit's sword, as it seems that the bandit is preparing for a horizontal strike (A sense motive check would be required to see if this is true. If passed, Loche would gain a +1 to his AC for the next attack from the bandit.)"
The Dungeon Master: Loche fails his feint, and the bandit is prepared for the real strike to his other side. However, Loche still succeeds his attack roll, and hits the bandit in the planned spot. He gains a damage bonus, because of the knowledge he gave about the human anatomy, and does knock the breath out of the bandit. The bandit has a -1 to concentration, fortitude saves, and his next attack roll because of his breathless condition.

-----
That is why a description of your attack is rather important, and helpful! Combat will go turn by turn, if it isn't your turn: don't post. if we have to wait too long, I will message the player of that character, and I will adjudicate an attack for his character, and play will continue.

SleepyShadow, sorry to kind of ignore Tanya's question to Elros, but Elros isn't inside the tor; he's still guarding the outside. Her question would be better directed at one of the others nearby, such as Lancet or Roy. I'm sure she and Elros can converse later, if that's what you're after ;).

Also, since there is going to be a considerable amount of OOC interaction between us all, I suddenly got the idea that it might be worthwhile to tell each other our genders, so we don't have to constantly refer to each other as "he/she," "him/her," or "they." This is of course optional, so don't nobody feel you have to share information if you don't want to.

I am a male member of the species, myself.

I am of the female persuasion and I have a question.
*Drumroll*
Is it okay for me to describe half-elves as humans seeing as Saoirse, as an Elf herself, might make that assumption? Or should I just say they're the race that they really are to avoid any kind of confusion? I've been going with the earlier in my posts, but I just want to be sure.
