As per request, here is our party so far (sorry for taking the liberty, Krogren--just thought I'd help you out a bit).

1. Loche Stratien -- Half-Elf Monk (SlowlyCrazyIAmGoing)
2. Tanya Silver-Card -- Vistani Sorceress (SleepyShadow)
3. Roy Coldhilt -- Human Fighter (Necrolegion)
4. Lancet Garreth -- Human Cleric (Ponats)
5. Elros Carnesir -- Half-Elf Duskblade (myself)
6. Tolgen Dal -- Human Druid (Aythr)
7. Saoirse Alaric Navid -- Elf Rogue (LidenZarroc)
8. Denford Corixson -- Human Wizard (Rigel Lake)

Our party is huge, but we've covered the necessary roles. Lots of offense, lots of defense and support. We'll definitely be seeing a lot of magic in this campaign. (And we'll certainly cause a mighty ruckus in most small-town taverns.)

My apologies if I misspelled any names.

Edit: Even more magic now! Oh, so many spells shall be cast....

Sigh... and, just like the cleric bit, no-one wanted to play as a dwarf/gnome/halfling...typical

I like dwarves, too. But I always play as dwarves, so that's why I went a different route this time 'round. If Elros dies permanently, I'll gladly replace him with a dwarf, if you really want to see one.

Actually, what seems most typical to me is a whole variety-box of races in a party, rather than a lack thereof. It is my opinion that a less diverse party is somewhat more realistic, as even in our own society, it is apparent that races tend to stick together. Our group consists mainly of humans or half-humans, with just two exceptions. This makes sense to me, as humans will tend to be attracted to other humans (in any sense of the word "attracted", for that matter).

You generally wouldn't see, in a regular old neighborhood, a group of buddies consisting of a white guy, a black guy, a Latino, an Asian, and a Middle-Eastern guy. It's just not that common. The same could be said about a group of adventurers consisting of a human, a dwarf, an elf, a half-orc, a gnome, and a halfling. While making a diverse group, it's just not realistic when you think about it.

Sorry to rant, but I was dreadfully bored.

Okay... I really do need to check back more often, there's way to much to read otherwise!
But yeah, thanks for helping me out with all that Ponats, I've only actually played organized D&D once (when I was like 9) so I don't really have all the calculations down. Thanks for pointing them all out to me, although I'm sure I'll still get some of them wrong. (If you could, maybe, look it over again after I've finished correcting it that would be really helpful.)
As far as the middledaged thing goes, I had thought Elves life to be around 700. Wouldn't that make 350+ middle aged? I'll check the players manual, but I suppose I'll lower her age anyway (Because you're probably right.), just so everything's fair.
Also, would it be possible for us to get all of the character profiles in one place? That way we don't have to search the entire subject to read someone's stats. Although I suppose that would make it difficult to alter them...

Edit: Alrighty, I've lowered Saoirse's age to 134(Since I did this was I right to get rid of the -1 on strength and to lower the +2's on intelligence and wisdom to +1?) and altered her skills and such. I really should have written up the apperance and bio, but I've got to leave in 20-something minutes and I don't want to start and stop. I promise I'll have it done later today!
I'm really excited, Saoirse is going to be so impulsive!(Which is really different from myself, as someone who can barely decide what she wants to eat for lunch...) Hopefully this will be a lot of fun!

StandardFiend wrote:The whole party? Oh, you must explain how that happened.

I was not aware that a half-orc had the capability to produce such intriquite vocal sounds... hilarious!

He got the whole party killed off because we had been summoned to the king's court after we cleared out the Temple of Elemental Evil. The king was Prince Thrommel's father, and we ... accidentally killed Prince Thrommel right after we rescued him. Personally, I blame the paladin, but that's a tale for another time. Anyway, while the rest of us were trying to think of a way to explain what happened to Thrommel, the half-orc bard was telling the king all about our exploits (rhyming the whole time of course) ... including the part where "Brave Knight did slew and slew, and split your prince right in two."

Needless to say, between the eight palace guards, the court sorcerer, and the king himself, we were a bit overwhelmed ^_^
Beware the darkly cute ones ^_^

@ SleepyShadow

O.o

hahahahahahahahaha! that is hilarious. that reminds me of some good times i had playing our 4E campaign..... they keep trying to make me leader for some reason, even though i am usually playing the stupidest characters ever..... one of them even has a Good/Evil split personality that somebody randomly rolls to decide when the personality changes. that is a good one to get you in trouble, thats for sure!

*AHEM*

now that all our characters are relatively ready, perhaps we should start thinking of how we meet, or how we have already been traveling together.

i vouch for somebody stumbling across my passed out body........lol!

Ooh, I bet that was a hassle lmao. I remember that the paladin in the campaign with the half-orc bard had like a six intelligence score, and paladin's magic horses get smarter as they level up so eventually the horse became smarter than the rider ^_^ It was so funny because at more than one point during our adventures, like if we got stuck with a puzzle or something, the paladin's player would look over at the DM, the most dead-serious look on his face and say, "I ask my horse for advice."

Oh, yeah. Thinking of how we meet is a good idea. Well, however it happens, I vote against the usual set-up:

"Alright, so, you guys are all sitting in the tavern ..."

That would be a lot of fun ^_^ It's just too bad my old group has since scattered to the four winds. I haven't played played in a steady campaign in two months now. Oh well. Sometimes the one-shot adventures at the local game shop are pretty fun, too. What about you? I want to hear some of your outrageous campaign exploits. Surely you have some good stories to share.

Actually, since only a single one of my friends was ever really into D&D (and is no longer, unfortunately), I never got to play very much. Though we did have fun when we played. It was just the two of us, so I, as the DM, also played a character.

Our most lengthy campaign was a Ravenloft sort of thing. I liked the setting, so instead of shelling out for the book I just made up my own Ravenloft and my own vampire to inhabit it. I played as Ayame, the quick and nimble ninja (wtf was a ninja doing in Ravenloft, you ask? Don't...) and my friend played as Broth, the 4-points-of-intelligence barbarian with an axe as big as his partner Ayame.

Oh, it was so much fun watching Broth try to solve the intricate puzzles Castle Ravenloft had to offer (obviously Ayame couldn't be of much help in that regard). This was many years ago, so the only thing I remember really well was the time when they fell through a trap, and they were falling for so long they had time to devise a plan... Ayame simply climbed on top of Broth and used him to break her fall. Broth escaped unscathed, too... somehow....

And then there was that time quite recently where a few of my friends, including the one above, got together and started a D20 Modern campaign designed to mirror the first Resident Evil game. We never got past the first couple rooms, but I remember quite clearly when one of the characters shot and devoured one of the zombie-dogs. Yes, you heard me. Devoured.

Back to business for just a moment:
As for how all our characters met, we don't all have to have come together at the same time. It may have started with just one of us, and that one picked up the other companions one at a time along the road. Somebody might have needed rescuing at some point, for example, and from then on the rescued traveled with his/her savior, etc. You know, things like that.

I will soon make another thread that will contain the Character sheets along with personalities and descriptions/biographies. Also, you needn't figure out why you are traveling together, because the intro 'hook' for the first adventure will cover that. You only need to figure out why you are traveling through Chondalwood (And for some reason or another, forgot to take the road). This should be easy for the druid, and probably more difficult for the other characters, but it doesn't really matter why you're there as long as you're there. The Chondalwood is not like the description from the Forgotten Realms Campaign Setting. It is not inhabited by elves, or centaurs. Besides that small detail, most of Faerun should be the same. The IC thread will be up sometime soon, as I need to finish writing it, and adjust the adventure to the party. Also, Rigel I did not see a character sheet? You'll be accepted as soon as you get it posted up, and I make sure it looks alright. We do have a very large party, but the more the merrier! You could name your party 'The Merry Men,' but you do have a few females in there too. No ranger in a green hat and green clothes to lead the party either. Oh well.

Now its back to work for me!

Elves attain middle age at 175 years, old age at 263 years, venerable age at 350 years, and then live another 4d% years after that, meaning that an extremely lucky elf will live up to 750 years.

Once you attain middle age, you get -1 to your STR, DEX, and CON, while gaining a +1 to your INT, WIS, and CHA, signifying the aging of your body and your mind, growing weaker but wiser. If you did not calculate these effects into your character at the beginning, don't put them in now, since you lowered your age.

I'm not sure how you assigned your stats, but I'll give you an example of how it would look.
Here's how I would assign them:

STR 10
DEX 14
CON 13
INT 15
WIS 12
CHA 9

Then, you apply your racial bonuses/penalties (for elves, it's +2 DEX and -2 CON), so your stats would look like this:

STR 10
DEX 16
CON 11
INT 15
WIS 12
CHA 9

Your Ability Modifiers are different from those bonuses and penalties, and are dependant on your final scores. To easily determine the modifier, use this formula: Simply minus 10, then divide by 2, rounding down (counts for negative numbers, too--you'll see that it works out).

So your Ability Modifiers for the above scores would be:

0 (10-10=0, 0/2=0)
3 (16-10=6, 6/2=3)
0 (11-10=1, 1/2=.5)
2 (15-10=5, 5/2=2.5)
1 (12-10=2, 2/2=1)
-1 (9-10= -1, -1/2= -.5)

Hopefully that helps you out, so you can fix your scores.

By the way, I assigned those scores based on my personal preference; that may not be the best setup for an elven rogue, so don't copy them thinking that it is, if you choose to copy them.

As for our party name, how about (and this is a joke, of course) FIST? Friends In Search of Treasure.
