Izzy looked up at him, and then, realising she was still trembling, relaxed and smiled at him.
"I'm fine...I think it's just...,this weather, i'm not used to it- as you can probably see," Izzy gestured to her pale face and sighed.
There was an awkward pause and then Izzy had an idea," Shall we go get some ice-cream?" She asked, grinning.

Matthias looked back as he heard a splash behind him. Looking down, he found a cellphone slowly sinking into the sandy water. Snatching it up, Matthias cocked a quizzical eye at the phone. It had a name on the back. "Autumn Carlton". He remembered Autumn. She was Adam's younger sister. She'd hung out with the group, not really talking much, but there. Wading slowly out of the water, Matthias walked up to her and knelt down. "Y'know, I don't think ocean water is good for a phone. It tends to fry stuff out." He smirked and nodded.

Setting the phone down, Matthias sat down in the soft sand and smiled. "How've you been, Autumn? It's been awhile."

"Matthias!" Autumn said with suprising excitment in her voice, reaching over to hug him. She hadn't seen the rest of the group for a while... Pretty much since her junior year of high school. Things definitely have changed since then. She smiled sheepishly as she looked at the phone. It was a stupid move, but she would do it all over again. "Things are really... different. I'm worried about Adam. Have you talked to him at all? I feel like he's abandoning me... Abandoning everyone for drugs. He won't talk to me. I don't know what to do and the media is so overwhelming. It's everywhere, even work!"

Autumn slowed down, looking back down at the sand, her golden hair hiding her face. "Sorry, I don't mean to keep ranting." She wasn't really sure what to do or say. Autumn hated venting to other people, making her feel selfish.

Matthias returned the enthusiastic hug, and moved to sit next to Autumn. He looked out to the ocean, thinking of what to say. "I haven't really been in touch with him since way back when..." He motioned behind him, as if the past was laid out on the beach. "I've kinda been busy with things. But, now that we're all back together, maybe we can talk him out of it, eh?" He nudged Autumn with his elbow. "And don't worry about the media. They'll always find someone else to bother with their stupid questions."

Sighing, Matthias fixed his bandana, rearranged his glasses, and looked back out to sea. "It's weird, being back after four years...A lot of things have changed, and a lot of things have stayed the same." The young man motioned to the growing group of friends behind them. "It'll be interesting to see who's broken the pact the most." Smiling, Matthias breathed in the ocean air deep, reveling in the cool air in his lungs. "So, I heard you're a model?"

Autumn shrugged as he talked about Adam, and the rest of the group. He was probably right about the media, but it still seemed to bother her. Autumn figured she wouldn't worry about all of it now; she would worry about it later anyways. "The pact..." Autumn said quietly. Technically, Autumn wasn't supposed to know about the pact. She had followed Adam to the beach that night to hang out, but when she got there she realized that there was something different happening, a new vibe. She stayed behind, watching with a curious eye and found out about the pact they all had made. As Matthias mentioned it, she laughed lightly, realizing that it must be a promise hardly anyone could keep to the fullest. In Autumn's eyes, it felt like Adam had changed the most.

But Matthias changed the topic, to her career, no less. She supposed it was the right type of conversation, since none of them really knew much about each others lives in the past four years. "Yeah, I guess I am. Maybe I should be used to the media," Autumn said, blushing as she looked up at his blue eyes, and then back down to the sand. "How about you, Mr. Buff?" She was amazed how she got so caught up in a different world after high school, not knowing where any of them had gone since her junior year.

Matthias smiled and looked down to the sand, watching it as his feet slowly slid under. "Well...Remember how I used to talk about the military and stuff?" He looked back up to Autumn. "Look at my back." He shifted slightly so she could see his Semper Fi tattoo better. "It means "Always Faithful". I joined the Marines." He turned back around. "It's...different than I thought it would be. And a lot harder too." He chuckled slightly. "But yeah...just got back from a tour in Iraq. It's hot as hell over there." He chuckled some more, and smiled. "But it's good to be back. At least for a little bit."

Izzy rolled her eyes and smiled," Always the same, scavenger Addy," She said, chuckling, but pulled out a couple of coins anyway.
Ah well, there was the bus fare home.
They reached the caf, and Izzy ordered without hesitation," Hey, um we'll have two vanilla cones with one wafer and extra sprinkles please," Her voice appeared warm, inviting- and the man at the till smiled at her.
The man disappeared for a moment and then when he returned a little late Izzy saw he had brought their ice-creams.
"Thanks," She smiled at him,
"Anytime."
The man handed her the change and then winked at her.
Izzy's face burned and the hairs on the back of her neck prickled slightly as she turned away hurriedly, colour drained from her face.
Izzy picked out a small two seater table and sat down on the one end, "I hope you still like Vanilla Ad, last time I remember it was your favourite.

"Show...?" Izzy frowned, she hadn't known there'd be a show on....
Izzy smiled at Adam," Would you Ad? I love to come see you play..." She said grinning at him as she recognised the boy she had once known beginning to resurface- hopefully.

Izzy raised an eyebrow slighty and attempted to hide a laugh.
It failed miserably.
"You cocky bastard..." She mumbled, chuckling to herself- embarrisingly aware that people were staring at her.

Joseph grinned at her," It was great, I'm on your fan website..." He said, chuckling again, "No really though I enjoyed it, I can't wait for the next one..." He said winking at her teasingly.

"Did you really!" Autumn said, looking at the tattoo. "Wow, you really were serious about that," she said, smiling to herself a moment. Maybe some people didn't completely change, Autumn thought to herself. She looked back at his face, and then down again at the sand as she wriggled her toes in the soft sand. She listened as he told her about Iraq and its heat. It was difficult to paint a clear picture from everyone's perceptions that had been posted every where today.

Autumn felt like a child again, sitting there next to him, telling and listening to stories. "You're not going back, are you?" She felt stupid the moment it came out of her mouth, but she had always had a fear of someone she cared about leaving and getting hurt, even if it was simply to the next town.
