A new day, a new year. January 1st, 2008, a fresh start for many, hopes and dreams reignited with the beginning of a new year. Little do they know that their dreams will be shattered like so many panes of glass.

A few days after the new year was ushered in, the city of Fairfield was hit by a string of violent attacks on members of the community. Witness described attackers as 'in a sort of rage, as if the only thing that controlled them was bloodlust itself'. After the first attack, the stage was set for the greatest crisis in the history of mankind. The victims were sent to the main hospital of Fairfield, Mercy Hospital, for treatment, the staff not knowing that these victims were infected with a mutation of rabies, which causes its victims to spiral into a rage from which they cannot recover. Over the next few days, weeks even, the virus began to spread, more attacks were reported and the city soon fell to the vicious onslaught of Infected that grew with each person infected. The police and military were not enough to stop the spread of the infection, and they too fell. Only a few handfuls of people managed to survive, but they did not get far out of the city as they were cut down by the Infected that chased them. As the city fell, the infection spread to other cities near to Fairfield. Riverside and Newburg were the next two major population areas to fall. The infection spread throughout the United States, taking down each and every city in a matter of hours.

Only a small handful of beings survived. These people, although they are normal in every way, are mysteriously immune to this infection. Hailing from the original infected city, Fairfield, these survivors are determined to stay alive in any way possible, and find help wherever they can. Armed with only the weapons they can find, their first stop in Fairfield is to head to the now abandoned Mercy Hospital, where infected patients were treated without effect, where they must get to the roof to allow a news helicopter to rescue them. These survivors still have not learned of the fate of the cities outside Fairfield, so their hopes that they can find more survivors are high.

Info about how the RP is gonna work :

The RP will cover the action from the very first stage of the No Mercy campaign i.e. the rooftop where the original four survivors, Louis, Zoey, Bill and Francis, were deposited after the brief intro movie of L4D. The story will progress through No Mercy up until the helicopter escape, after which it will be linked to the next campaign, Death Toll, in a way only the players can imagine. The story will span through all four campaigns, ending with the APC escape at the end of Blood Harvest.

Players at the beginning of our story are only armed with a M1911 semi-automatic pistol and their fists, but as the story progresses, you can have a post detailing how your character finds a new weapon, which is not only limited to the pump-action shotgun, UZI, M16 assault rifle, Benelli M4 Super 90 semi-automatic shotgun or hunting rifle, but can include other weapons, like different shotguns or rifles, and a second pistol, or other weapons that the military might have abandoned, like grenade launchers and RPGs, but the chances of finding those are slim. Other objects that can be found are Molotov cocktails, which are essentially a bottle of flammable fluid that has a cloth stuffed into it, which, once shattered, create a wall of flame, and pipebombs, which are pipes filled with explosive material and fitted with a fuse and an alarm strapped to the pipe. Once set off, the pipebomb produced a high pitched beeping which attracts the Infected, and the bomb explodes after a short duration. Objects that can be picked up by characters but replaces their current weapon are gas cans filled with petrol that light on fire when shot, or propane tanks, which explode when shot. Players can also find first-aid kits, which can be used to treat wounds and injuries, and pain pills, which provide a painkiller-like effect upon consumption. This effect wears off over time.

Of course, I don't want this to be like the game, very constrained in terms of weapons and explosives. So feel free to make up your own explosives and break away from the norm seen in the game. You can loot from stores, examine things and do things that you wouldn't be able to do in the game.

He wears a pair of rimless spectacles, which have rectangular plastic lenses and a thin black frame, over sky blue eyes. He wears a white long-sleeved collarless t-shirt over a sleeveless undershirt. A silver chain hangs around his neck. A locket dangles from the chain, in which are photos of his family and his brother. He wears faded blue denim jeans over a set of white-silver design sneakers. A pair of fingerless leather gloves reside over his hands, and a wristwatch is around his right wrist. A silver ring resides round his right ring finger.

Brief bio : He worked as a librarian after he graduated from high school, so that he could earn enough money to get into college. He did so for a couple of years, then went to college and graduated with a degree in literature. He continued his job as a librarian since it would keep him in touch with all the lit books in the library's shelves. He would occasionally go to a gym to exercise and also had a membership in a local gun club, which earned him some mockery by his friends. This experience in guns, however, helped him during the later stages of the infection, when the Infected attacks were regular, and going out without a gun was highly dangerous.

Brief bio : Corbin had a chance to play in the NFL out of high school but he was told by his strict Irish father that he had to go to college, to learn something that was real, the dream seemed to be put on hold. He would have been a great running back for The Lions, but college came. Studies soon became unimportant as Corbin lifted weights and ran for miles on end, to become faster and stronger. It was a beautiful Sunday when after a big game he was told he lost his scholarship forcing him to leave school. When he came back to his hometown he did the only thing he could do; become assistant coach at his old high school. Everyday for 3 years he helped coach on a minimum wage salary instead of the multi-million he could have made. After the old head coach retired Corbin was placed in charge of the team but up until the day when all hell broke loose, all he could think about was hearing his name over the loud speaker at Ford Field.

DJAtomika, So is this going to be a straight from the game roleplay or can we improvise a bit like breaking into pawn shops and stealing there guns. Plus another thing I was wondering is, are pipe bombs and molotovs going to be the only explosives we are allowed to use?

@ Drakona5 : Like I said earlier, this is not limited to the constraints of the game. Not only just molotovs and pipe bombs, gas cans and propane tanks. You can improvise explosives of your own. And you can RP things like that. I stress again : This is not limited to the constraints of the game.

Appearance : Despite her height, she's quite curvy. Standing at about 5'9 without heels on, her shoulders, bust, and hips are quite wide, though her waist is tiny. Her hair is dark and curly, and her eyes are usually green. She wears lots of jewelry and eyeliner, but that's about all that remains constant from day to day with her appearance.
Brief bio : She's had a perfectly normal life, really. She had a bit of a scrap with her parents when her chemistry degree turned into a job with a company that does fireworks shows, for obvious reasons, but she talked them into letting her live out her dreams. She was at work when the infection broke out, but rushed to her parents' place to see if they were alright without taking any ammunition, and found the house already raided. She thinks her parents are dead as of right now, and has been haphazardly living on the moment.

Exactly. I was thinking that a couple of you, especially the over-powered ones, make some changes so that this RP won't begin overbalanced in the favour of the survivors.

I mean, think about it. The original L4D had only four people, only one of them was really prepared for this kind of thing, which is Bill, him being a 'Nam War vet. Zoey was a horror movie enthusiast in her early twenties, Louis works at some IT company, about the same age, and Francis is a biker. We here have five, maybe six people, four of which are prepared for the apocalypse. If those aren't overbalanced odds, I don't know what is.
