The chicken didn't taste much different than garbage-chicken. The only time food from the trash tasted different than it normally did was if it had mushed together with other food. "Nom nom nom..." He muttered quietly as he took an actual bite of the chicken piece. He watched Eric begin talking at his phone. Weirdo. Then Eric moved the phone to him. He stared at it with wide eyes as he chewed his chicken, blinking once.
Then the two girls returned, one with a new companion in tow and the other saying she had another on the way. The skateboarder swivels the phone's camera to fall on each of them. They converse while Matt finishes his chicken. The girl called Emerald looks at him and asks his name, but thankfully Eric answers her for him. He stares at Emerald's little dog, who is staring back.
By the time the phone is back on him, Matt has swallowed his chicken. He licks the device with a long, somewhat pointed tongue, not quite Gene Simmons-worthy but long nonetheless. Just as he does, the girl with crazy hair, Amber, takes a picture of him with her phone. The flash startles him; he cowers slightly and takes a few steps back. Emerald suddenly rushed off to the nearby escalator, sliding down it and skillfully landing on her feet. ... These people are weird. Matt's thoughts were rarely clear, almost always subconscious. But this thought he formed into a sentence.
All the activity was making him nervous. He could go for another cookie... He gazed around the tables, but as he might imagine no one would have left their cookie behind even in the rush of an evacuation.
And I'm pretty sure that I'm only human;;
