"Warn your warmth to turn away...

Here it's December, everyday.
Press your lips to the sculptures,
And surely you'll stay.
For of sugar and ice, I am made.
It’s in the blood.
I met my love before I was born.
He wanted love,
I taste of blood.”
-Love Like Winter; AFI
Rockport, Massachusetts is your average town. Families live comfortably in this coastal town, although many of them are only residents during the summer months. The beach and street-shops all close down once October hits, and it seems like once that happens, there is nothing for the town’s youth to do… other than to get into trouble.
Friend 1, Friend 2, Friend 3, Friend 4, weren’t harming anyone on the night of December 12th. It was a Saturday night, and like most teenagers in the town, they had resorted to alcohol to have a good time. Since the police were shutting down most house parties, the five friends had found a deserted railroad to be their nighttime haven. They would grab a few packs of beer and a pack of cigarettes or two, and head down to the tracks. The town was safe, and because trains no longer ran on the tracks, the kids were content with their findings. When they were all reported missing the next morning, the town went crazy. Rumors started to soar about kidnappers, rapists and serial killers prowling in the tranquil seaside town.
The idea of them being hit by a train never came to mind, even after the backpacks and empty beer cans were found along the side of the railroad. There were no bodies, no blood, and no evidence. They were hit by a train, but it seemed that on impact, there bodies were transported to a different world, and it wasn’t Heaven.
The five bodies were perfectly intact when they seemed to fall out of the sky, landing on the snow-covered ground of a thick forest. They thought that they died, moved onto a different life, but the creatures that they met after exiting the forest explained to them that they were not dead. They were in Shilo; a world that had once been bright, but was darkened by the vampire Everest rulers. The four of them were no older than twenty-five, but had hearts of ice, perfectly fitting in the winter-world they had created.
Everything in Shilo isn’t all bad, though. Some of the creatures still have hope that their saviors will return from “the other world” and bring light and warmth back to Shilo. Whether they like it or not, those four teenagers are destined to save Shilo.
Rules:
1. Please be literate when applying. I understand that everyone makes mistakes; trust me; I probably made a few in what I wrote above, but use spell-check before posting. If you are known to make careless errors, I won’t be lenient.
2. If you are going to join, please keep up your role. I would hate to see you quit after only a few posts, and ruin the roleplay for everyone else.
3. I don’t mind cursing or sexual references, but try not to let it get out of hand. I except romance to be a key factor in this story, so if you can’t handle it, please don’t join.
4. If you are joining as a creature of Shilo, please pick a race that isn’t almighty. Vampires, elves, pixies, werewolves, and those types of things are cool with me. Also, Shilo isn’t some advanced world. There are no cell phones, iPods, televisions, or any form of electricity. Picture it to be a world similar to Narnia.
5. My vampires follow the rules of being able to live off of any form of blood. It can be human, which is most preferred, but animal blood can supplement for it, although it doesn’t fulfill their hunger for as long as human blood. These vampires are not scared of sunlight, can feel temperature and can eat human foods. They have a much longer durability in cold weather than humans, and have greater physical strengths.
6. The relationships between the vampires and humans listed below obviously won’t come up until the story progresses, but the humanxhuman relationships should be from the start.
7. Don’t ask me to reserve roles. If you

Role: Oldest ruler
Name: King Michael Edward Everest
Age: One-hundred-ninety; appears twenty-five
Race: Vampire
Side: Evil
Personality: To put it simply, Michael is a bit of a control freak. He tends to boss around his siblings, not meaning to be rude, but just out of protection. He needs things to run smoothly in order for him to stay calm, and when events aren’t going as planned, he tends to freak out. Freak out meaning that he will storm around the palace, yelling at servants and blaming them for everything. When he isn’t dealing with his political career though, he is really a nice guy. He is very intelligent, and has spent years studying every race known to Shilo. He loves his family and would do anything for them, even if he doesn’t always act like it.
Likes:
Ruling: Being the King, or one of the Kings of Shilo is what Michael was meant to do, and he loves being in charge.
Reading: Sitting by a warm fire in the library and reading a good book is his favourite pastime.
History: The history of Shilo appeals to Michael very much, although he would never want the kingdom to return to its old state.
Hunting: There is nothing more exciting then hunting down prey for blood, but Michael would rarely miss an opportunity to go hunting for animals in the lower class, as a sport.
Snow: Living in a world where snow is always there, you have to love it.
Red, white and navy blue: What ruler wouldn’t love the colours of his kingdom?
Silence: It seems so hard to get a moment of peace and quiet, but when he does, Michael enjoys every minute of being alone.
Dislikes:
Being questioned: Absolute power would be Michael’s choice of rule.
People who never stop talking: As simple as that. Michael dislikes people who go on for hours about useless matters.
Other people’s opinions: As the King, and the oldest of the four, he feels like his views are the ones that count the most.
Werewolves: Who likes their enemies?
Background: Shilo was a kingdom that was once filled with diversity. There were creatures of all types living in harmony with humans. The world was filled with plants, animals, oceans and different ecosystems. Everything seemed to be peaceful, until the beloved human King, Marco II died of natural causes. Shilo was put into a state of chaos and the government was seized by Edward and Charlotte Everest; two of the strongest vampires known. They claimed Shilo as their own and were quick to make class systems, putting the humans at the bottom of the chain. They had them enslaved and harvested but the population steadily decreased, and soon enough there were no more left, or so they thought. Some had escaped, living in small caves deep in the forests, and forming a small community of their own. They grew as the humans reproduced, but with little contact with the rest of the kingdom, many of them died off early. Today, only four humans remain, but there are still rumors circulating of the return of five humans who will restore the peace to Shilo.
A group of rebellious creatures stormed the palace ninety years ago, and using a potion that was concocted, they killed the King and Queen. Their plan failed though, as loyal warriors to the Everest family killed off the rebels, and only days later, their four children were given joint-rule over Shilo. For the past ninety years, the laws have been as strict as necessary, but there have been few rebellions, and everything seems to be running smoothly.
Appearance: Michael stands at 5’10 and weighs around 160 lbs. Although he may not be the biggest vampire out there, he is very strong and combined with his speed, he can compete fairly with many of the creatures in Shilo. His brown is ruffled and messy looking, but he doesn’t have the time or desire to keep it any other way. When hungry, Michael’s eyes change from their normal silver tint to one that appears like a dark orange. They can stay like that for days without Michael having to have blood, because over the years, he has controlled his desire and can withstand the urge to tear someone apart while speaking to them.
Other: Michael hates bringing up his parents, because he remembers them quite well. He is still upset over their deaths but feels like it is better to keep it in the past than to bring the soft subject up.
