Mordecai started the day just like any other, he slept in. Unfortunatly, his sleep was not sound. Most of the night, he kept waking up from nightmares he started having about a week ago. He was in the middle of one of them. The nightmares were very blurry, so he couldn't make them out after he had woken up. After some minutes of tossing and turning, his eyes shot open and he lunged upward, drenched in a cold sweat. He placed his right hand over his face and lowered his head. "Damn, these nightmares are starting to get more intense." He scratched the back of his head and sighed. "For now, i'll have to deal with it." He got up, threw some clothes on and went downstairs in his make-shift house. Grabbing some bread, he concentrated on his hand and it began to glow orange. the bread started to get warmer and became toast. Once he had his quick breakfeast, he went outside for some fresh air. But something wasen't right when he went outside. There was no one there.
When he opened his door, he was greeted by the nothingness. He looked all around him, trying to see if the people were all at another place somewhere. But there was no one in sight. "What the hell?" After some time watching the ghost town, he shook his head and started to walk further into the town. "They have to be somewhere, they couldn't just have disappeared." He saw the buildings as he walked by, all of them looking as normal as they ever were. There just wasn't anyone in them. Mordecai started o get a little nervous, was there really no one here? He stopped, then went over to the lake, where he always went whenever he wanted to get something off his mind, though this maybe harder than his other problems were. He kneeled at the lake's edge, staring into the crystal clear water that filled it. During the time, it was still pretty dark at the time, with the sun just coming up, so his being looked much darker than it would be in the sunshine. He snapped his fingers and made a small glowing flame. It was pretty cold at the time, which made him happy that he had the power of fire.
Just then, a voice came out of nowhere, yelling 'Hello? Who's there!?' After that, Mordecai, startled from the voice, diminished the flame and had the shadows pull him out of sight. He was now behind a building, panting some from the shock he had. He didn't think anyone was here, so the voice caught him of guard and his instincts took over and told him to "retreat". "So, there are some people still here?" Once he calmed down, he walked off back into the town. "Guess i'll talk back to them if they can find me again." He then went inside a building and rested on top of the roof, just gazing at the clouds as they rolled by.
