Re: Roleplay Plots

You need to figure out your demographic, get some analytics, hire a campaign manager... just kidding. I recommend the following: tl;dr Start with what you know, write a hook, and hype it up. ⋅  Start with what you know. It is easy to fantasize about outer space, or the elven kingdoms, or t...

Re: Unique Worldbuilding/Roleplaying Project

I suppose I have no choice, so I'm re-in :), but I'm afraid I can't lead this (if that was anyone's expectation). That shouldn't be a problem though - the only real requirement of this project is content, without the need for continuity or correctness. A good way to think of this, from the perspecti...

Re: Unable to SEND Pm

Darth, This is a recent site policy change that affects new users' ability to send PMs. Although you can't send PMs right now, we encourage you to use the forums where possible. Your PMs should work soon, we just ask you to stay active in chat and on the forums and be patient. I've moved this topic ...

Re: New here

Heya Balmung! Welcome to RPG. We've got all sorts and types of RPs here, so I'm sure that you'll find the Action RPs you're looking for. The way that the Character system works here is a bit wonky to catch on to, but once you have it's easy as pie. First, look through all roleplays or only the featu...

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

If you've got writer's block (which I had all week thanks to playing EVE) I suggest you step away from that pathway for a little bit and write about some other part of the story - say in the Consulate or on the ship Horman Cambo is in, or about Elan the short order cook from the very beginning of th...

Re: Dear Reader: I would like to help you.

Well well, what an old thread! Well, since it's been raised, I might as well get back in the groove. fl3x, I'm not particularly familiar with either phenomenon, but I suppose that I'll try my hand anyway. You can correct me if I'm off the mark, but then please supply an example (either in summary, q...

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

No need to apologize - you wont get booted for going over, especially if your character might be giving a speech. Do try to keep within it though - I'm of the belief that the limit improves both writing ability, readability, and also makes proofreading both easier and more likely (as you start tweak...

Re: Mentors want YOUR help to help you.

The recent concerns over GMing have gotten me thinking, and two days ago I took an inventory of what I find works (and does not work) when I GM. I've written my success story - and why I do the things I do - in http://www.roleplaygateway.com/good-practices-play-post-roleplays-t43822.html for your pe...

Good GM Practices - in Play-by-Post RolePlays

I wrote this originally for the RPA website, but I figured that there wasn't much point in waiting for it to show up before posting it in here as well. Please feel free to comment, question, and even disagree. These are my thoughts on a technique that I find personally successful, and want to share....

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

No worries. The 1024 limit is actually to improve writing, b/c I've foud it works for me. It also keeps you from jumping around too much in a single post. No reprimands tho :)

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

In case you guys haven't been following, there has been quite a bit of new content since Soviet Rei joined us. Go ahead and post! Luckily, the 1024 char limit makes it easier for y'all to read :)

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

I have updated the Introduction and rules, but am no longer able to edit this OOC topic. Here are the changes, which can also be found in the Introduction tab of the roleplay: Verdanus, a planet so named long ago for its verdant forests and beautiful natural landscapes, the spawning pool of humanity...

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

It's not an IC topic - its in the RP Tab. There is a link in the first post of this thread, and here it is again: http://www.roleplaygateway.com/roleplay/verdanus-and-tertius-war-of-the-world/ Just click the Activity tab to read through everything that has happened so far - mostly my own "episo...

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

Of course! In like with this being more of a 'book' than the standard RolePlayGateway, I'm trying to avoid writers block by posting daily. Jump in anywhere! I'll keep on posting once a day or so, and everyone else can post as often as they want.

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

I suppose that most weapons research would have been done specifically not to affect metal objects. I say this because the weapons I am thinking of would be used by the security forces on Verdanus, and that is becoming increasingly more of a single cityscape. I'm sure that effective crowd control ha...

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

Aliath, Beam weapons were likely developed because Verdanus, before it laid claim to Tertius, was not resource heavy (the cityspace that now covers it is largely a result of the colonization efforts). So bullets would probably have actually become more expensive than energy during the Verdan rise, b...

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

I think the Reclaimers might have that kind armor, but likely only them - I'm assuming they are as much an experimental soldier pool as they are a special forces team. But you are welcome to roleplay in any details you want - we will simply avoid contradicting them once they are posted. You're under...

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

I suppose you could kill with just one shot, though that's likely not been the culture for quite a while through the recent peaceful expansion. Most often the guns are used to cause topical burns, though you might propose an alternate technology that allows for stunning or knocking someone out via b...

Re: Issues with blindmode.

Is this in php? Or in Javascript? If its php, I suppose a rudimentary solution might be to explode each string based on punctuation (though explode might not retain that punctuation then, so creativity is necessary) and then ucfirst() can be used to uppercase just the first letter of each substring....

Re: [OOC] Verdanus and Tertius: War of the World

I have not defined the technology of the times, so androids may very well exist. However, I would suggest that such technology is likely being developed in secret, if at all, and knowledge, rumors, or even imagination of such things is not pervasive. Much of Tertius is mechanized, however, including...
