Or maybe the box contains how to use both of them, therefore one is useless without the other. Dracula could well and have his little scroll but without the box he has nothing to go on.

Well... maybe it could be used for good? Maybe the incantation can also open another door, a door of good and pure spirits to weaken (but not kill) the evil.
