Mentor services available ( )

Postby Pseudosyne on Mon Jun 15, 2009 10:30 am

This service has been moved to mentoring-services-t25179.html and combined with Alias's for everyone's convenience!

Hello, all. I'm now an official RPA roleplaying mentor and am open for business. I've been roleplaying for quite a long time now and have picked up many interesting concepts that can be used by amateurs and veterans alike. You might find that my mentoring method is a little different from others, but I can guarantee you that you'll learn quite a bit from me, and me from you.

As an FYI to all those wanting a mentor, I'm always open regardless of who I happen to be mentoring at the time and I'll be available to you long after we supposedly "finish" our sessions. So, please, don't hesitate to post away with your questions and comments.

A NOTE: My mentoring approach differs from Alias's, who takes a more direct "critique and suggest" approach. That's why you most likely won't see any of much mentoring occurring in this thread. I prefer to work more closely and continuously with the people I mentor, and so, I usually like to conduct sessions over IM in which we will discuss your posts, how you feel you roleplay, and what you think your problems/solutions are. I may also have you complete short tasks for me such as writing a paragraph according to a prompt or revising a post. I treat each person I mentor as a constant work-in-progress (as I treat myself) and my mentoring will be tailored as specifically to your needs and learning style as possible. If it's a question I feel is straightforward enough that it can be answered directly, I'll just write up an answer and post it in this thread; otherwise, we'll work one on one.

Hello there.

I think my literary prowess has slipped away. Well, not so much slipped away, as diminished from its heights directly after the summer of '08. More to the point, I want a refresher course, and any constructive criticism you can offer.

Alright.

I think my major is with incorporating scenery, actions, and plot into one unified entity. I can envision great plots, do relatively good but insular descriptive work, and describe my character's actions with ease. But I can't seem to combine the three for some really good writing. That, and my style of writing seems to be chocked with wholly unnecessary descriptors.

Do you want a sample of my more recent work?

Yeah, send it on by. I'd prefer if we worked over IM since it's easier for us to discuss it, but if you're not comfortable with that, than just let me know what medium is best.

Thanks, man.

I've gotten some very insightful and altogether useful tips and help from this guy. And, above all, he's not rude, or bitchy, or anything of the sort. Real easy to get along with. To say anything else would be unneeded.

If you want some help with your RP'ing, I would really suggest Pseudosyne.

Ekm hi.
I've been writing for quite a while and I always get author's block whenever I start writing a longer-than-usual story. I've been trying to work on it, but usually, when I'm stuck, I get rubbish out. Beside that, I would like to have somebody to help read my work, not proof-read but sort of read and give comments on how to improve. Also, people have often commented that my work lack substance and I would also like to find out if it's true.
Just a request, I'm okay if you don't accept it. (:
My roleplays! Ehh. I created them myself. So I'm proud of them.

No problem at all, intoxicated. I'd be happy to work with you. I like working over IM if possible, and to get started, just PM me a sample of your RPing that best reflects your abilities and also your screenname if you're comfortable.

Hi, I'm new to Gateway and to RPing for that matter, but I've been writing for a while now. I was wondering if you might help me improve myself.

I don't have any samples available, but I could write up a few paragraphs to give you an example of my style.

Thanks--

Sure, simplic, be glad to help. Write up a few paragraphs and PM them to me, and we'll go ahead from there.
