Name: Danoi Bloodfin, simply called Bloodfin
Age: 30
Gender: Male
Race: Merman with evident Queath ancestry.
Appearance: Larger than most Merfolk, though not quite so large as Agu, and hairless. He has smooth gray shark skin in place of scales, and an actual fin on his back. His eyes are deep red, giving others an unsettling feeling when he looks upon them. As if that weren't enough, he has a slightly extended jaw with two rows of jagged sharp teeth. Also, he has "street shark abs." His usual attire consists of Seashell armor, a kilt made completely of pinkish shells and a pauldron on his right shoulder, of the same make, which is connected to the kilt by a sash of dyed red kelp. He carries a slim trident with a barnacle here and there along the shaft.
Profession: Retired Officer of the Palace Offensive
Bio: During a Sea Monk raid on an outpost somewhere in the deep, the commander's daughter was captured by the Queath. On the orders of it's Sea Monk master a beastly Queath with numerous scars going down the length of it's body and missing it's left eye raped the mermaid in front of the incapacitated guards and commander. After a bloody struggle and the arrival of unannounced reinforcements the mermaid managed to escape. Bloodfin does not know his mother or even the family from which he came, though he does know the story of his birth.
He was raised by an elderly rich couple, called Rubyfin, in one of the beautiful capital cities. It wasn't until he reached puberty that the rages began. The first time it happened only one of the house hold guard was injured. The second and third times were more gruesome. The Rubyfin family that had taken him in had not been able to have children of their own and thought of Danoi as a son. So it was the young half-breed took it upon himself to take long treks into the deep. At first guards were ordered to escort him, but loyalty will only take a man so far when he sees the unleashed rage of a Queath in even a young boy. Eventually Danoi would take only a spear and disappear into the murky depths, sometimes for days.
Despite his episodes he managed to graduate from the Academy with honors and then join the Palace Guard as an Officer. He was quickly ushered into the Place Offensive and due to the rages was quickly dubbed Bloodfin in place of Rubyfin. While visiting the Academy after a year of service he met Sedna. Sedna's cool and somewhat aloof mannerisms seemed to put Bloodfin at ease. He began courting Sedna that same season. When called to an outpost within the deep he promised Sedna that upon his return they would marry.
Bloodfin spent a year in the outpost known as the Bone Reef. Constant skirmishes with Sea Monks and their Queath minions gave the half-breed a new purpose for his rage. He was almost happy. Eventually his term ended and he returned to the Atlantean Palace (Yes, I did it. Atlantis. Hell yes.). He had gained a few field promotions in the deep and returned to be awarded numerous medals and decorations. No matter his valor and evident usefulness, the truth of the matter was that Bloodfin scared his subordinates and superiors alike. He was kindly asked to retire.
Shortly after he married Sedna his foster parents died, leaving the Rubyfin Estates to Danoi. It was renamed unofficially the Bloodfin Estates and now even Danoi calls it that. His guard is made of the few Palace Offensive soldiers who would follow Bloodfin into the heart of Queath territory. Before preparations could be made to move the Bloodfin family into the Estates, Sedna grew wide with child. At first Bloodfin was ecstatic, full of overwhelming joy at having a child.
Then the doubts came. Would it take after him, or it's mother? He was a rare case, the only other cases of Queath-Merfolk coupling he knew of had produced only monstrosities that ate themselves out of their mother's womb. Would that happen with his child? Should he kill it now to save the mother's life? He knew of algae gatherers that claimed to have concoctions that would stop the life within and leave the mother unmolested. Sedna was glowing with her version of happiness and Bloodfin could not bring himself to even broach the subject with her. Every time he saw her the doubts and sometimes even frightening urges would fill him. Kill it! Kill it now!
All this would start to put a space between Danoi and Sedna. She one day claimed she would spend the rest of the pregnancy with her mother, who knew of such things. Danoi assented, though there were many in the city who could do better than his somewhat estranged mother-in-law. It was the distance between them. After two months of her absence Bloodfin has finally come to terms with the child. Though he feared all of the same things, he realized that the child could not be to blame, only he could. With this knowledge he was finally able to convince himself all would be well. The child is more Merfolk than Queath, right?
Bloodfin is now making his way to the home of Nuliajuk. Though excited to his see his brother-in-law and anxious to see his wife, the doubts still lurk just beneath the surface.
