Okey dokes, I'm reserving this spot for my piccie of Brennan which is currently still in progress (having issues with the d*mn face). I'll chuck it on as soon as it's done and add my character's profile then.

Well, I've finally finished drawing him! I'm going to attempt to colour him with photoshop but at present, my camera battery needs charging so I can't get him onto my pc... doh! Still, hopefully you should see him here tomorrow.

Yay, Brennan won! I'm so excited to see the submissions. Feel free to ask me anything about Brennan, I can answer any questions you might have. I'm online pretty much every day and I love to talk about my characters.

Well, he's finished to the best of my abilities. I'm attaching both B&W and colour copies just in case you prefer one over the other (personally I prefer the sketch). Below is also my character profile.




My character profile:
Name: Queen Nstif’ikta I’lar

Race: Rau-lass

Appearance: No matter how evil they are, no one can say that a Rau-lass isn’t beautiful and Nstif’ikta is no exception. Designed for both seduction and strength, the Rau-lass Queen’s body is perfectly toned and in proportion, the flawless alabaster skin marred only by shadows and her features reminiscent of a woman in her early thirties. Tall even for the Rau-lass (5’ 11”), her long legs are undoubtedly her best asset and not even the strength in her arms is simply for show: born to the sword, Nstif’ikta could easily hold her own in battle. As all members of her race, the Queen’s hair is a mass of writhing black tentacles – each about the girth of her smallest finger – and each ‘strand’ has sensory endings that act like individual appendages, touching and sensing things, though without much strength. Large, black, pouting lips hide her slightly pointed teeth and her narrow, crimson eyes settle upon sharp cheekbones. Her nails are longer than a soldier’s usually would be and are slightly curled, the black tips embedded with a natural toxin that burns on contact with flesh (the Rau-lass naturally are resistant). She generally wears leather armour but during battle has a tendency to wear something more practical and made of steel. She may also wear long, hooded robes of deepest indigo during times of ritual or ceremony of a cloth that clings tightly to her upper body before fanning loosely around her limbs. She bears a three-hand-and-a-half sword at her hip in a polished black scabbard, the steely grey hilt carved into a thorny resemblance and the pommel set with a single, thumbnail-sized garnet.

Personality: She is a highly seductive woman (as most of her race) and many find her and her suggestions hard to resist. The Rau-lass Queen’s main vice is her greed and her curiosity, for it is both of these that have caused her so trouble with a certain Major Ambey – her ‘fire-bird’ – and may cause her concern in the future. She has a great weakness for power and is willing to sacrifice anything but her own life for it – even children. Generally a selfish woman, she will however consent to joint ‘leadership’ as it were... as long as she holds the reigns, obviously.

Bio: Virtually nothing is known about the Queen of the Rau-lass. Her presence in Aduro was unknown until the battle at Tumulosus, though there were the inevitable rumours that often had more truth than people realised. Clearly a knowledgeable woman, it is obvious she was brought up to fill exactly this role, though not even I can see her as anything other than an adult. Who knows, she may have a whole complex thing going on where she had a bad childhood, didn’t make any friends etc etc... somehow, I doubt it though...

Her recent history involves the battle at Tumulosus – the last stand that she herself supervised to ensure it really was the last. The human Phoenix Raine (aka Major Ambey) is a matter of curiosity to her due to the strength and determination she possesses, though the clearer objective is her want for a link to the faeries (which she believes the human race owes her) and a return of the magic with which she gifted the first traitor of the human race, General Llanna. After the disappearance of her ‘fire-bird’ – along with the remaining mages under the faery Sorea Pardai’s command – Nstif’ikta has been temporarily distracted from the main battles decimating Aduro with searching for those mages missing from Tumulosus.

During the seven month period before the fall of Occalus - the faery capital - the Queen managed to locate and capture one of the faery mages – Foertis Deus – who leaked the knowledge that someone close to Commander Pardai was helping him rescue children from the Rau-lass’ experimental plans. Sidetracked by the battle at Occalus, she is unaware that Foertis was rescued by his companions (‘cause let’s face it, who wants to tell the Rau-lass Queen that one of her prize captives has managed to escape..?).

Strengths and weaknesses: Nstif’ikta has an innate telepathic ability that is virtually second nature to her and along with her extensive shadow magic, she is a formidable mage. Neither would you want to face her in a one-on-one swordfight for, though her prowess with the sword doesn’t even compare to the magic she bears, she is still a dangerous opponent in battle.

Main: Wears a robe-style blue tunic that falls to knee length with white trimmings on cuffs and neckline. Black sash tied in front

Accessories: Green pendant set in silver on a silver chain, falls slightly beneath shoulder blades

Personality: Shy and a bit reserved, but warm and friendly around family and close friends. Bright and intelligent with a good sense of humor, strong morals. Full of energy and willing to stand up for what she believes in, has strong abilities in literature, art, enjoys being around nature.
Posture: Standing up straight, a small smile on her face, appearing to be on guard.
Bio: Claire was found abandoned on a beach when she was only a few days old, and adopted by an elderly couple. At age ten, a natural disaster destroyed half of her village and killed many people, including the two who she had come to call her parents. Ever since then, Claire has wandered the country, surviving off the land and staying away from people much of the time. Anyone could tell you there is something strange about her, but can never figure out what it is.

Height: 190cm/ 6' 4"
Weight: 181lbs/ 82kg
Build: Slightly muscular although spare of fat.

Color: A light tan

-Hair
Length: Short-Medium (ends just under his brow and at about the middle of his ears.)
Style: He has no particular style, he lets his hair flow loosely.
Color: Cherrywood (redish brown)
-Eyes
Shape: Oval
Size: Medium
Color: Gray with a tint of blue.
Eyelashes: short, black.
-Clothing
Main: He wears a tattered dirty dark brown trench coat that ends at his ankles. It is never shut and reveals his tattered white tunic underneath.
Bottoms: He wears black trousers, they have been worn from years of use, they surprisingly have no holes.
Shoes: Leather boots, nothing special about them.
Accessories: He has a darkwood arquebus with some symbols carved into the butt. He also wears slim metal framed glasses.

Personality: A cold heartless man he is uncooperative and cares only about what benefits him. From his rough childhood he learned life was easier to get through if you ignored the comments and never got angry at them. He still persists in that theory and lets almost nothing bother him, but he finds slight joy in the anger of others. Monotone in every way imaginable he gets straight to the point and doesn't fear to voice an opinion. All in all he seems like an unlikeable bastard, which is close enough. However, amidst all this negativity, he never disrespects people from their social class, he respects them as much as they respect him(unless they're a costumer). All of this seems to fit him perfectly however, as an arms dealer he wouldn't be too convincing if he were always cheery, smiling and helping everyone.

Name:Charlie

Species: Monster

Appearance: Charlie is a small creature about 3 feet tall. He has an orange body with a purple belly. On his head are three horns that are purple/black striped. He has two purple wings on his back that do not attach to his body, and on his tail is a small triangle. Finally, his toes and fingertips are black.

Personality: Charlie is a bubbley, naturally happy monster. Full of energy and life, he gets into a lot of trouble. He is mischevious and silly, and loves to play. Although he is quite old, he has the mind set of a five-year-old. Other than playing with his witch 'sweetheart' Elii, his favorite thing to do is chase butterflies.

Brief Biography: In the early stages of Charlie's childhood, he was kidnapped by the evil mastermind Van for his terrifying alternate form. For many years he was tortured and used, causing him to stay in his childhood stage of life although aging every year. He very recently was able to escape because of a young witch named Elii. Now they are gathering other monsters to overthrow the disgusting overlord and return peace to Charlie's world.

I wouldn't call it artwork. Stylistic, sure, but yeah... After entering a character of mine last month I couldn't not participate.

Sorry for the delay, MFC-er's. The last contest was really hard to judge! We judges thought the pieces were pretty much equally matched, so it all came down to how closely the winning piece stayed with the essence of usererror41's character.

Well done everyone, and congrats ShadowWake! I was a guest judge for this one and I have to agree with Dovey, the entries were very evenly matched.

I'd enter the next mfc, but I can't draw...oh well, I guess I'll just watch to see who wins.

Btw, Dovey and Ingrid, you guys do an awesome job on the logos for the MFC winners. When I first saw the mfc December page I loved the logo for Dark Nova, and I've just looked at the Jan page and the new logo easily lives up to my expectations.

Lol, I'm interested in what people come up with as well! She a favourite character of mine at the moment, simply because her personality is so delightfully evil that I can do anything I want with her (you can't be a good guy all the time... )

I'll be sad when her inevitable downfall comes about in the RP she's currently in (http://www.roleplaygateway.com/freedom-forsaken-t11591.html) and as I've used her in 2 RPs so far (the current and the prequel) I don't think I can use her any more after that... *sob*

So January's MFC is, in a sense, a pre-emptive tribute to my fave character! And I definitely agree with usererror: the title font you've used fits her perfectly.

Pff, "all entries were evenly matched", that's downright insulting. I didn't even give him a shirt people ;x Don't be so derogatory towards the participants/yourself.

Kestrel, there were things about every image that I liked, and I really believe that it was a close contest. The shirtless Dark Nova isn't my style, but it was drawn well. If it makes you understand how I felt about the image, I personally gave it a 6/10. The score it received was based on several factors, and yes, keeping to Dark Nova's style was one that the shirtless image got penalized on.

BTW, I liked the eyes, and the image reminded me of the original Dark Nova (who had fire and electricity powers and a superhuman strength and agility, but I toned him down, or I should say honed him down).
