Without waiting to hear the response of the snow-white wolf, Braeden turned on his heels and ran into the woods, directly the opposite of the way to the town. Let the armored one deal with the youngster, he thought just before he gave his mind over to his senses. It would take extreme concentration and keen senses to find Willow, he had to be a tracker.
He traveled south for a day, and then headed west. He ran at full speed, all the time following the invisible link between him and Willow. When he did finally find her, he knew that she wouldn't be surprised to see him. She would have seen him coming, from the moment he decided to come and find her. This was quite useful, she would make herself very easy to find.
And sure enough, half way through his second day of travel, Braeden could smell her on the wind. He slowed to a walk and stopped at the first hotel on the edge of the town. He paid for two nights, though he knew he would only need it for one, and went to the room to freshen up. Now that he was in town, Willow would find him, and he wanted to be ready. The link between Braeden and Willow had developed after they had committed themselves to each other, but after living together for 120 years, they both decided that it would be better if they just went their separate ways. Now that he was finally going to get to see her again, Braeden wanted to make sure that he looked presentable.
There was nothing he could do about his clothing, he didn't have time to go to a store to buy anything new. But he knew she wouldn't care about that, clothing had never been important to her. He washed his face in the sink and returned the stare of the piercing blue eyes he saw in the mirror when he looked up. Next, he wet his hair and ran his fingers through it. A deep chestnut brown, Braeden's hair had never posed a problem for him. He never needed a brush, his fingers worked better than any he had tried.
Through with his preparations, Braeden sat on one of the beds and flicked on the television. Not really paying attention to what he was watching, he waited until he heard her thoughts. She was still about a mile away when he turned off the t.v. and closed his eyes. He could still see her, could still see her smile and the way she laughed. The sound of her thoughts brought back a flood of memories from the time they had spent together. He truly did love her, and the time they had spent apart had only served to strengthen his feelings for her. He hoped this reunion would be the beginning of another century of them together.
Willow entered the hotel room, not needing a key. Dressed in a wispy dress, her long brown hair fell in soft curls around her shoulders and down her back. Her green eyes were filled with nothing but love as she regarded Braeden, pleased that he had taken the time to clean himself up. After a long embrace, she broke the sweet silence with an answer. "Yes, I will go with you" she simply stated, not wanting to ruin the moment.
Nothing more was said about it until the next morning. Braeden checked out of the hotel while Willow went back to her house to get things set for her long absence. They met at the edge of the woods, exactly where Braeden had left them when he had arrived. Running hand in hand, Braeden and Willow headed for the meeting place. As they ran, Braeden explained everything Willow hadn't seen in her visions. Even though she could see events, she couldn't hear the words that were spoken, so she was quite confused about a few things, especially the armored one.
They arrived at the designated meeting place ahead of schedule, but that was fine with Braeden, he didn't mind the chance to spend time alone with Willow. Finally the time came for the meeting, and Braeden and Willow walked apprehensively. They both sat on the ground with their legs crossed, and waited for the others to arrive.
