This is a story of four high class debutantes and the supernatural.
Four families who are well respected among the ton each raised a beautiful girl, each one more beautiful than the other in different ways. The girls are of the same age as one another, with either older siblings or younger, and have been the bestest of friends since childhood. The four of them are to make their debuts that spring, with the help of society's most respected Dowager Duchess, Lady Christine Hawthorne and her sons as the girls' escorts, who are well off and married, each with an important title.
That early spring, a mysterious family of orphans arrive to Britain and move into a mansion "supposedly" inherited from their late parents. Two young women and four young men. They claim to be the children of late Count Morgane, who passed a decade back and was well-known to be childless with a wife who passed away two months into their marriage.
Many stories circle the new arrivals, but with mystery comes intrigue and the six are invited to the grandest balls in London and elsewhere.
What the ton doesn't know about this family is that they drink blood to survive and sleep by day, each as gorgeous as marble statues. As fate is the only power working in their universe, the four girls, each in their own way, meet the young men. The only problem is that their sister, Amantha, is brewing with jealousy and plans to rid of the girls however way she wishes, without her brothers' knowing, of course. The only person who accidentally discovers Amantha's plans is their other sister. The shy and detached, Carmina doesn't believe her brothers' should court human girls, but she will not, by any means, allow there to be bloodshed when they had finally found a perfectly lovely home.

Otherwise, the golden haired angel is polite and lady-like, and not at all empty headed like the rest of the girls among her class, who only see diamonds and pearls and riches in their suitors. Maggie wishes to find a handsome, smart man, who is as daring as her, and can hold a conversation about astrology with her, one of her favorite studies.
Magdelena has motherly tendencies when she's among children, having four younger siblings, all ten years younger than her, which in turn had trained her to be a second mother. Maggie isn't shy among men, she's rather talkative, but is often discouraged from doing so because he Duenna always told her, "Men are intimidated by smart women, just keep your brain to yourself," But how was she going to find a perfect match, when she has to lie about who she truly is, that is one of the main issues surrounding her debut lately.

Lady Anabelle and Lord Keyton have had trouble with having children, and once Anabelle was pregnant with Magdelena, she was sure she would lose this baby as well. Through the rough pregnancy, Magdelena survived, and was dubbed a miracle baby. Her mother, though, was told that she will never have children again. It wasn't until Maggie was ten years old, did her mother begin popping out children one by one. Now, she has four siblings, all around the ages of 6 to 1. Maggie always found pleasure in helping their nanny take care of the lively bunch, but now she had duties of her own. To find a husband, with a suitable title, have children and live extravagantly, as if she didn't live richly now, even with her father's gambling tendencies.
She has a very pleasant dowry on her name, which is almost irresistible(her father believes), but all this sickens Maggie, because now, she has to choose between suitors who like her fake, typical female act, as well as the ones for her dowry. But she isn't the only one, her best friends are in the same situation. Although, Margaret is already on her second year debut, and is bound to inform Maggie what to do, and how to behave, as well as name all the well-to-do names she has met last year. Alice and Augustine are also accompanying Maggie on their first year. The girls believe these balls are going to be the times of their lives, surrounded by handsome men who would be asking for a dance. It's a dream come true.
