Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

OOC

Somewhere on the Moon

Everything was running smoothly that day, the two Astronauts were there to investigate abnormal energy readings coming from the Moon's surface, and so far nothing seemed out of place. It wasn't until one of the men spotted the dumpster that everything changed, "Mission Control, we found something! Repeat, we found something!" said the one leading the mission as he approached the strange device. It didn't look like anything besides a trash can, in fact it even gave off a similar stench strong enough that even the astronauts could smell it within their suits, and so they dubbed the device a dumpster.

After confirming orders from Mission Control to open the object, the two men went to work prying it open, but when they did there was a flash from within and a powerful force knocked the two back and unconscious. Then, there was suddenly shrilling laughter as a peculiar woman emerged from the container, "Ah!" she screamed, "After 10,000 years of being trapped in that smelly prison! I'm finally free!" she was then accompanied by four otherworldly creatures, each one unique from the other.

One was a winged creature in golden armor. There was an older looking one with white, wrinkled skin, glasses, and pointed ears. There was a small, thin one with black fur, and another who was short and plump with a single horn on his head, "This is great Mistress Rita, how's about we have a party to celebrate!" suggested the short, plump creature in a goofy, incompetent voice. This was met by a sharp thud on the head from the woman's staff.

"No you stupid dunder-head!" the woman named Rita yelled, "We're going on a conquest for the universe, and that...." she pointed to the nearest Planet, which was Earth, "....will be our first stop!"

"Ah... but, er, Mistress, what of Zordon?" asked the old one in a nervous voice.

"What about him? That old goody good's probably lost his power by now, he's no threat to me! Ahahahahaha!" Rita replied in a most arrogant tone, "Now come, Goldar, let's start our conquest with a bang!" she commanded, giving another screeching laugh.

The golden one finally spoke, his voice gruff and beastly, "As you command, Mistress." he said with a short bow before drawing a sword from seemingly nowhere. Clearly, this one was the warrior of the group, "I will destroy all who oppose you!"

Angel Grove, Ernie's Juice Bar

The day was pretty much sucking so far. Two work loads were waiting for Marcus back at the Car Clinic, the garage he worked at. One was a Kia with a radiator that was pretty much screwed, and the other was a Nissan Minivan with a ruined engine because some idiot didn't bother changing the oil. Well, that meant more money for the garage to charge, but that still didn't change the fact that Marcus was gonna have a hell of a time working on those two cars over the next couple days. The only reason he wasn't working on them now was that he was on lunch break over at Ernie's.

Ernie's Juice Bar used to be the most popular hangout twenty years ago, back when Ernie still owned the place. Now it was owned by a retired cop who decided not to change the name of the place for the sake of nostalgia. Of course, these days people only came for the Juice Bar. Used to, kids would use the built-in rec center for Karate, Gymnastics, and a number of other things. Now it was just a washed up old place since kids today prefer hanging out at game stores and Starbucks, or just going home and chatting on the internet.

"Sounds like you got a rough couple of days in store..." said Lt. Stone, the cop who now owned the Juice Bar. He was behind the counter, washing glasses. Marcus had been chatting with him about the two cars he had waiting for him at the Garage. Marcus wasn't usually one to talk about his stress much, but he knew Lt. Stone fairly well and chat with him fairly easily.

"Tell me about it..." muttered Marcus as he dug through his lunch bag for the sandwich he had picked. The Juice Bar did sell food, but Stone never cared if someone brought their own food in and bought a drink. As long he was able to get some business, it didn't matter. As Marcus started eating his sandwich, Lt. Stone put a glass of strawberry malt on the counter for Marcus to drink before switching on the TV.

That's when it happened. The ground started to rumble and shake, then two distinct voices could be heard all over the city, "Greetings, humans! I am your new ruler, Rita Repulsa!" the first voice belonged to a woman, "Resistance is futile! Show 'em why, Goldar!"

As he heard this, Marcus scrambled for the door, when he was outside he saw something incredible over in the Downtown area. Standing taller than any building was a giant, winged creature in gold armor holding a massive sword. He was using that sword to demolish buildings. Buzzing around him was the owner of the female voice, she was standing on an orb of some kind that flew her around as she used a magic staff to blast random objects, "What the...?" whispered Marcus, too stunned to even run. Suddenly, red energy encased itself around him and he was whisked into the sky.

"As you can see, my Mistress and I are unstoppable! But if any human wishes to try, let them step forward and face me! I welcome any challenge!" said the creature named Goldar, his enlarged size causing his voice boom like thunder over Angel Grove.

The Command Center

Located in a remote desert area outside of Angel Grove, the Command Center sits in isolation. Within the compound, a number of computers and lights went off and on with a buzzing, alarm sound signaling there was trouble. In the middle of it all, a metallic being was frantically walking about, "Ay yi yi yi!" said the nervous robot as it hit a few buttons, "What will we do? What will we do?"

"Calm yourself, Alpha." a deep, but kind voice said. It came from a large tube housing what looked like a holographic head, "We stopped Rita in the past, and we will do it again. But we will need aid. We will need a team of 5 overbearing, over-emotional humans."

"No, not that, Zordon! Not... teenagers!"

"That's correct, Alpha."

"I was afraid of that..." Alpha sighs, pushing a button that would teleport 5 specific youths from Angel Grove and into the Command Center.

The cafe buzzed with the usual energy of college students sipping on coffee and complaining about work that was due later in the week. The coffee shop had become a common hang out for college goers and something that never changed was the girl that stood on the stage, her classical guitar swung around her shoulder and laying against her back. She played her a couple of times a week, and was well known in the area, by both the owner of the cafe and all business that she brought to the small cafe. It was a win-win situation for her and the owner.

With her hands she fixed the microphone, raising it so it was just below her chin. She then swung her guitar around and strummed the strings in a beautiful melody, catching the attention of the students that sat before. She then turned and looked the band, a couple of college kids she hung out with. They each nodded and ready their instruments before giving the usual thumbs up. Zoey returned it and then turned to face the crowd once again. She ran a few fingers through her brown hair filled with short tight ringlets, before she began to play.

The melody started of soft and sweet, before getting more dramatic. She switched chords quickly and then finally her voice rang out across the cafe, earning claps and cheers. Behind her the band picked up and Zoey closed her eyes, letting everything but the music and the crowd slip away from her. She was in her setting and she loved it. She loved everything about letting her voice and music being heard and the smiles that she brought to others once she finished.

"Your words were like an explosion,
Glass raining down on my parade-"

Suddenly everything began to shake and the music came to an abrupt stop. How ironic... Zoey thought to herself. The radio whirred to life, and a high pitched sinister voice rang out.

"Greetings, humans! I am your new ruler, Rita Repulsa!" she began ,"Resistance is futile!"

The ground shook once again and soon the cafe was a mess of college students racing outside of the cafe to see what was going on. Zoey set her guitar down and leaped off the stage, her curiousity peaked by the nose that was going on outside. Her band followed her lead, but as they stepped outside, Zoey soon regretted coming out to see what the commotion was all about. Towering above the even the tallest buildings was a large creature covered with gold arm, swinging his sword, cutting buildings clear in half. Riding on a floating orb was a woman that Zoey guessed could be no one else but Rita Repulsa. The streets were filled fearful people, running for their very lives. Zoey stood their too shocked to move and run for safety.

"Oh, crap," she whispered to herself.

But before she could get to safety or help those around her, a pink light fell over her and she was whisked into the sky. As the light faded, Zoey stumbled back and fell onto her butt, and that was when she caught sight of the worrisome robot that paced the room, and the large holographic head that watched her with infinite wisdom.

"I must be dreaming..." she whispered to herself as she rose to her feet.

There he was, teaching some high school students some dance moves at the dance studio in Angel Grove. His day always started with a trip to the dance studio in order to accumulate experience and help out. He volunteered a lot lately, though he didn't mind, it was always good to give back to the community.

"Mr. Carrera I'm lost, can you slow down a bit," a soft voice spoke, the owner of which stood before Eijin with a smile on his face. Eijin smiled and looked at the kid.

"Call me Eijin, and sure, I can slow down for you," Eijin replied as he repeated the dance move at a slower pace. The boy smiled and repeated the move he saw Eijin do with near perfect precision. Eijin nodded and watched as the group continued to dance. His classes at the University didn't start for some time and he'd hope that his teacher wouldn't have an attitude as she seemed to always have with him. Every time he got to class she'd approach him and ask him questions that had no relevance to school. He'd end up ignoring her and she'd end up marking him late for class. Though he had reported her many times over, she yet remained his teacher, in fact he was pretty sure the Dean was tired of hearing his complaints. Sighing, he snapped back to reality and looked at his clock. The dance class was suppose to have ended twenty minutes ago.

"Alright everyone, that's enough, you all are doing great. I want you all to keep practicing and get ready for the regional dance off. Remember, you have within you the strength to do great things. I look forward to our next meeting," Eijin said dismissing the class. The owner of the studio walked over to Eijin as he was grabbing his gear.

"Nice job Eijin, you work well with those kids, have you thought about becoming a choreographer?" Mr. Allen asked. Eijin smiled as he looked at Mr. Allen. Mr. Allen was the owner of the dance studio. He was famous around Angel Grove and other places. His dance studio was known to crank out some hot dance moves for celebrities of various genres.

"Yea, I'm actually going to college to become a Choreographer or a Entertainer," Eijin replied as he hefted his duffel bag over his shoulder.

"How about working for me Eijin? I can credit you hours to your college as well as pay you for your help. You have great potential, of which I'm sure can be fine toned here, what do you say?"

Eijin could have jumped up and down and screamed yes, but he had to think about it. He was sure he wanted to become a choreographer, but he still needed time to think about it.

"That's amazing Mr. Allen, I'd love to, but can you give me a little time to think it over?" Eijin replied. He hoped Mr. Allen wouldn't get upset from him not accepting right away, but he was sure Mr. Allen understood what Eijin was going through at the moment. College was stressful enough and juggling a job would only add to the stress.

"I understand, let me know when you've made a decision Eijin," Mr. Allen replied, "now get going, don't want you to be late for class."

Eijin smiled and nodded as he left the studio. Just as he was about to exit the studio, everything began to quake and quiver. It was then that he heard the voice fill the air. It was a nasty squeaky voice that Eijin didn't care to much for. People were scattering like roaches, running in a panic. Eijin simply stood there, as he saw the giant creature stomp through Angel Grove. He noticed the floating woman and had solved the equation of who she was.

"Rita Repulsa? who the heck is Rita Repulsa? Man this is some straight up comic book crap," Eijin stated as he looked around noticing the creature slice a building in half with its sword. Eijin couldn't believe what he was seeing, but he couldn't move, it was as if his legs didn't want to run like everyone else around him. Suddenly, black energy wrapped around Eijin and before he knew what was happening, he was wisped away into the sky. When the light faded, he was in some strange place filled with beeping machinery and a big giant globe with a floating head in it. He could have fainted right then and there, but his masculine side allowed him to simply stand there and look around. It was then that he noticed the robot beeping about the area.

"Umm, where am I? Who are you? Why am I here?" Eijin asked as he looked around for an exit. The floating head was unnerving enough, but the robot just made it seem as if he was dreaming. He pinched himself to make sure, but the pain that came was real and he nearly cursed under his breath. After finding no place to escape, he turned and looked at the floating head.

Justin Lenero was in his own little world. He was in his favorite spot in the world, Ernie's Juice Bar, and it was filled with a numerous amount of people. He smiled at the sight of all them, knowing fully well that Ernie's bar could easily use the bussiness. Justin really did care for the bar, as it had many memories for him that he shared when he went out with girls.Speaking of girls..There was one climbing onto stage, probably performing. He didn't like to go out with anyone due to him being oh-so paranoid about how they would cheat on him, or lie to him. He hated that feeling but no matter who he spent time with, it was always there. Not that Justin had many problems finding a date..It was just something he didn't need spend time on.He took a deep breath as she continued gettign ready and focused on the matter at hand.He was once again challanged by one of the punks who just wouldn't give up.
He was dodging a punch from a highschool drop out, keeping his body low to the ground and shifting as if at any moment, he would have been striked and knocked out. That was far from the truth because he could take a few punches to the face. He would quickly backflip as he avoided a roundhouse and jumped into the air and then kicked, stricking the man underneath the chin.He howled in pain and looked at Justin and began to speak through ragged breaths."Lenero..you are so dead!"The man would throw another heymaker but he made it very obvious and like clockwork, Justin easily dodged. He would strike the man with a flat palm besides his head and he would go down.
He began to look around and watched a crowd gather around him. They were here to watch another slaughter performed by Justin Lenero. He sighed out as he watched the man get up slowly, begging him to stay down and not force him to finish this fight. The man would grin at him, a bit of blood in his teeth.
Justin would hear the sound of a beatiful voice and quickly turned along with the crowd to listen to it. He heard the song being strummed along with the guitar and began to enjoy it's beat and rhythm. He felt pain enter the back of his head and fell towards the ground, his eyes nearly rolling to the back of his head.It might have been some muscle memory, or maybe he was just lucky, but Justin rolled to the right, avoiding a large stomp by the man.Justin would catch himself and began to dodge the barrage of strikes that the angered man had on him.The crowd turned to face him once again, and when they did Justin quickly kicked the man's foot, sending him towards the ground very rapidly.Justin would throw an uppercut and catch the man under the chin once again. He fell limp.Justin shook his head, feeling the back and glad that there was not a lump.
He turned to his head to the side and watched a dark skinned man coming out of the dancing studio. He seemed kind of sick and tired of something, but it seemed as if Justin could not help him. Then to his left was a man eating a sandwhich type that was not served here.He wanted to say something about how rude that was, but decided against it. He must of had his reasons, and times were getting harder and harder. He then turned back once again to listen to the rest of the song and came upon the final lyrics before all hell broke loose..
"Your words were like an explosion,
Glass raining down on my parade-"

Then everything began to shake. He heard the words new ruler. Like hell was he going to bow to anyone, much less someone who was cliche enough to shake up a juice bar."Resistance is futile"Justin began to glare at the radio and television set, wondering who he had to push to the curb now.He saw everyone running to the exit, and calmly followed them, thinking that they were just getting punked. He would finally reach the outside, and see a large creature with wings and a sword begin to cut down buildings. One of them was where Justin purchased video games wen he had the money for them.He felt anger rise towards him and wanted to shout at the monster, but held his tounge. He then felt himself cold and when he looked around, he was in a strange room with a bunch of other teenagers. One of them was the boy with the sandwich, the dancer, the singer, and another female he had never seen before. He looked up and noticed the floating face. This day was just getting stranger and stranger by the second.
Dude where is my respect?Where is my love?Where is my treasure?I don't get enough respect around here...OOOH A PENNY.

Ah road rage, the pinnacle of America's intelligable and highly missunderstood art form, cursing. You'll be happy to know that Bonnie was what more geek inclined people would call a dojo master of road rage. The geeky knowledge of this stemming of course, from her so far awesome expirience in college. "Git' yah damn face out y'ass then CHERI!" She used the otherwise thoughtful and endering nickname she fondly gave to anyone from strangers to friends, and said it this time in a mocking tone, thus expressing her great annoyance at the car cutting her off. It was difficult enough as it was, driving a car that was starting and stopping at irregular intervals, without a person driving like their face was a donkey's butt.

Bonnie was desperately trying to get her poor red truck to a decent mechanic, though by this time, she'd much prefer lunch. A cafe perhaps? No, those places ended up being crowded despite promoting themselves as calm abodes, these days everything was topsy turvy, restaraunts were now the quiet ones.

Mmmmmm, she wanted a burger, hell yes. From the well heated bowells of hellah yes, burgers were the food of a goddess. A goddess like her obviously. A highly, now focussed on nothing but food goddess like her, and I inform you of this trivial detail because it clearly explains her excuse for not seeing that a villain popped out of nowhere, claiming her imperial identity as Rita Repulsa, and creating havoc in front of her, meanwhile Bonnie dutifully but accidentially runs into one of her minions with her truckone with a horn on his head, . "Ho-ly Shit!....Holy shit...." The second holy shit was her stepping out of her truck, and looking up, you would make a similar exclaimation at her findings I am sure.

In a flash of light, Bonnie's gawking face went from Rita to a Floating head which she immediately associated with the great wizard of OZ. "So should I be th'one tah clip mah shoes t'gether and chant th'ere's no place like home?" She said openly in her usual smooth and even voice. Quite overloaded more than anything. She looked around, a rather pretty girl with darker skin, black business major looking sort of guy, a more artistic sort of guy, and another who looked like the sort that a girl would admire from afar, but be too shy to actually say hi too. Good thing Bonnie was not shy.

The brief flash of red was rather sudden, and so the realization that he was in a different place was delayed in Marcus. When he had realized where he was, Marcus stepped back in disbelief, looking about as if expecting to wake up in bed at any moment. It was the deep, wise voice that finally got the mechanic's attention. A floating head in a... tube? A frantic robot? This couldn't be real. What the hell was going on?

"Greetings." said the head in the tube, "I am Zordon of Eltar. And the robot you see before is my assistant, Alpha 5."

"Pleased to meet you." said the robot with a bow as if he were a butler of sorts.

"You have all witnessed the attack on your city by the sorceress. Her name is Rita Repulsa, and her goal is nothing less than to rule the universe. She intends to begin her campaign with Planet Earth. You will now see just what it is that threatens your world, behold the viewing globe." as Zordon said this, Alpha would direct the group behind them where a spherical monitor began displaying the part of the city being attacked.

For the first time, the five youths would get a closer look at the one calling herself Rita Repulsa, as she used her magic to destroy cars, signs, and other things, "Rita is a powerful sorceress who once tried to take over the universe 10,000 years ago. At the time, I was able to use my power to imprison her and her followers from which I had hoped she could never escape. Earlier, human explorers happened upon her prison by chance, and without knowing they released her."

"I'm afraid we no longer have the same power we once had," Alpha chimed in, "and so, using 5 Power Coins, artifacts given to Zordon from on an old ally long ago, I was able to create a device that should bestow one with the power needed to combat Rita's forces. The Morphers."

"The truth is, I have been watching the five of you for some time now, and I believe that you can be the ones to defeat Rita once and for all. The 5 Power Coins hold the ancient power of the dinosaur, and with the Morphers that power will be harnessed and can transform you all in the Power Rangers." said Zordon, as the 5 Buckler-shaped morphers appeared at the waists of each person. "Eijin, the strength of the Mastodon will give you the role of the Black Ranger. Zoey, the grace of the Pterodactyl will make you the Pink Ranger. Justin, the tenacity of the Triceratops will make you the Blue Ranger. Bonnie, the cunning of the Saber-Tooth Tiger will make you the Yellow Ranger."

Marcus stepped back, unable to believe what he was hearing.

"And leading them, Marcus, you will harness the power of the Tyrannosaurus as the Red Ranger."

Marcus chuckled, "You can't be serious..." he stared directly at the head calling himself Zordon, "...you expect me to just immediately buy your story and lead some fight that you apparently failed to finish yourself? No way. Even if this is real, Rita is your problem, not mine. Besides, if you really have been watching me like you claim, then you know damn well that I'm no hero, not by a long shot."

"Please, Marcus, Zordon does not choose lightly. He is very wise and you can trust that he knows what he is-" Alpha started.

"It's alright, Alpha. Whether these young people accept the roles shown to them is their choice alone. If they do not feel up to it, then they are free to refuse the offer."

Marcus took his Morpher thing and held out for Alpha to take, but Zordon's voice stopped him.

"No, Marcus, you may keep that Morpher for yourself. It will help protect you from Rita's inevitable attacks on the city."

"Whatever." said Marcus, walking toward a door he hoped would lead out of there. When he walked outside, Marcus cursed under his breath, "This is way outside of town! Ugh, it'll take forever to walk back..." he took some steps forward and slowed himself as he could see the monster in the distance, the one called Goldar, still swinging his massive sword around. Marcus sighed, he was probably walking home to his death, but damn it, how could that floating head guy just expect him to clean up after his mistakes? If these Morphers were so powerful, why didn't Zordon use them himself? Marcus shook his head, trying not to think about it. It was none of his concern, after all.

When Zoey had finally managed to gather her bearings, she soon realized that she was not alone in this place, four others stood beside her. Her hazel eyes looked at each of them and found that they too had the same look of shock and confusion that had once been painted on her face. Her eyes then turned to the head that had introduced himself as Zordon, and then the robot who was called Alpha 5. Alpha truly reminded her of a butler as he bowed, and continued about with his worrying. Zoey crossed her arms, her mind racing as she listened to Zordon explain just what was going on.

Every now and again, her eyes would flicker to the viewing globe, watching as both Rita and Goldar destroyed the city. Her family was still back there, and her thoughts immediately fell to her mother. She didn't need this right now, and even though she tried not to show it on her face worry began to build within her as she watched the scene play out before her. Zordon was granting them the power to save not only their city and their loved ones but the entire planet. She looked down at the pink buckler shaped morpher that was no around her waist. Her thoughts consumed her for a moment until she was brought out of her reverie as Marcus began his out-cry.

She watched him leave before running a few fingers through her hair.

"Zordon, Marcus has a point. This is a lot to take in at the moment. I mean we've just been confronted with a sorceress intent on conquering earth, and now you tell us that we are suppose to become these Power Rangers and fight her off. It's a bit off putting, to tell you the truth," she began, "But at the same time, with something like this we need to put our own worries and selfishness behind us and think about the common good. If we are the only ones that can stop it, then I can't really refuse. Rita may have began as your problem, but she's ours now."

She took a step forward, her mind focused on what she would be giving up and gaining if she did in fact accept the offer. She had family, and the last thing she wanted to see was harm coming to them, especially if she could stop it. With a strange calm that she's had with her since her youth, and the understanding that was uncommon in this day and age, and took a step forward her hands planted squarely on her hips.

If someone were to ask her how she was so calm and how she was able to accept all of this, she would of said that it was just her nature. But in reality she was worried, and terrified. Hell, apart of her was still trying to convince the other half that this was all a dream. But it wasn't. This was happening here and now, and as scared as she was, this was something that she had to do. Perhaps it was her since of justice, or perhaps the love for her family. Well whatever it was, it was propelling her and urging her to do what she thought was right. And that was defending the city.

"Count me in. I have people to fight for and protect, and I'm not going to let some sorceress and her henchmen hurt them, or destroy the only place that I've ever called home."

She wasn't sure about what the others might do, but to her this felt and seemed like the right choice. At least in her eyes.

Why was all of this happening? That is the question that continued to plague his mind as he stood there. He listened to the explaination and watched the viewing globe, but the only question he could think of was why this all was happening. Yes, he was being asked to become a power ranger, but why was it happening to him, more so why was it happening at this particular time and to these four others. Sighing, he watched as Marcus left, disagreeing with the entire thing and throwing the offer out, though Zordon had requested he keep the morpher.

Eijin looked at the morpher and then at the viewing globe. He began to think about the students that were in such danger, and he began to think about his mom and his dad and this grandparents and all the people in Angel Grove who'd be dead soon if they didn't do something soon. Pushing his insecurities aside, he stepped forward beside Zoey and nodded.

"Though this is a lot to take in at this point and time, I can't let her destroy the city I've grown to love and cherish, not to mention my family is there. I will help you stop RIta Repulsa once and for all."

He didn't know what Marcus was going to do, and he hoped the guy would be alright. If they survived this, he'd make sure to look him up and see if everything was alright, but at the moment he was going to protect the innocent and do his best to put RIta back in her place.
