murder in the dark,,
~ A PureInsanity and MEGAcya RP ~
{IC}

Doctor Archibald Lancaster has always been a beloved, and well-respected member of the community in his Victorian Village, so it was a great shock to everyone when he was found dead one morning in the village square- clearly having been murdered. His wife and two daughters, Ava-Lynne and Lily, have hired a private investigator to uncover the mystery of the killer's identity, but that task is proving more difficult than expected. It seems that, beneath the surface, almost everyone in the village had some sort of motive to want the doctor out of the way....

But our story starts three days before the start of all this unpleasantness, when all appears to be well. Your character- weather they're a governess, a butcher, stable hand or a house-maid, will have time to convince the rest of the villiage that they're in the clear before all hell breaks loose. Once we have enough members, PureInsanity and I will select one person to be the killer, and then all the real fun can begin.

Lancaster, Ava-Lynne
Age" 17
Appearance: Standing at about 5'5, Ava is a slender girl with porcelain skin and classic soft features with striking emerald eyes. Her long hair is a golden chestnut that curls slightly.
personality:Ava-Lynne is young and wild at heart, though she can come off as prim and proper when needed, though mostly a free-sould. She has a keen mind for adventure. She loves wearing what is considered typical male clothing and it makes her laugh when she is chastized about not looking like the young lady she should be.
history: Ava-Lynne is one daughter of Mr. Lancaster. Lived in an average sized home with a governess and servants in their comfy adode. One servant boy in the stable in particular has caught her eye ever since she was a child.

Glenn, William
Age: 20
Personality: Being the local grocer's delivery boy, Will is quite outgoing, polite, kind and loves to talk to all of the grocer's customers. Will isn't a gossip, though he does pick up on lots of rumors that circulate the town. Once delivering groceries at the Lancaster residence, William began to fall head over heals for their nineteen year old daughter, Lillian-Grace. Ever since upon setting his eyes upon the young beauty, he has met up with her whenever she is able to sneak out of the home of their, as William thought, protective father.
Appearance: Tall and thin, though well build, especially from having to carry basket loads of groceries. He has light golden brown hair that is long enough to just cover the tops of his ears, though it is wild, it still looks kept, and striking navy blue eyes.

yeah yeah its not cookie cutter at the moment, but I'm exhausted. Deal, lol :p

Oakley, Harrison (Harry)
Age: 19
Appearance: Tall, well built though not bulky, a beautiful head covered with suave golden hair, slightly tanned skin, and golden hazel eyes.
Personality: Harry has known the Lancasters for a long while, trying to work for Mr. Lancaster. Harry liked to stay with connections, which he had all over the town. Harry is also single....

Lancaster, Lillian Gracie

appearance,, Friends of the family often tell Lillian that she looks much like her mother did in her younger years, with her clear, porcelain complexion and dark, curly hair, it's hardly surprising that the eldest of the Lancaster daughters has so many well-to-do suitors on the table. Lily may not be snobby, but that doesn't stop her from loving to dress up. She often wears elegant, yet simple gowns in soft colours, tailored to cling to her lithe, slender form in just the right places, while still remaining tasteful. It's a cliché, but Lily is often told that her best feature is her eyes; an unnaturally pale shade of blue, framed by thick, dark lashes that are much longer than those of the average person, and more expressive than most, too.
personality,, Fun-loving, cheerful, friendly and warm, Lily has always had big dreams. Ever since she was small, she's wanted something different than most girls, and has never been happy with the idea of being just somebody's wife. Lily wants adventure, she wants excitement. She craves the drama and the bright lights of the west-end, the buzz of performing on stage. She wants a husband she chooses, not one picked out for her by her father based on their bank balance. Lillian is protective of her family and friends, and would never let anything hurt them if there was any way for her to prevent it.
history,, Lily's father has been the village doctor for as long as she can remember, and has always been given everything she could ask for growing up. Just less than a year ago, Lily opened the door to the grocer's delivery boy, only to have him walk right into her heart and make himself perfectly comfortable there. Since then, she's snook out of the house at every possible opportunity to see him, and spent every waking moment thinking about their next rendez-vous. She also shares an especially close relationship with her younger sister, Ava-Lynne, and the two often talk about whatever is on their minds, one topic that seems increasingly common for them is that of a certain delivery boy, and a stable hand...

Wilson, Edward

appearance,, Edward is pulled aside on a regular basis at work for his appearance, being instructed to run a comb through his messy, brown hair, or make more of an effort to keep his loose-fitting, crumpled attire clean. Standing at almost six foot, with a lean, muscular physique from 5 years of hard work in the stables and deep, brown eyes, if he put in more effort to earned enough money for some nicer clothes, and took the time to get a haircut every once in a while, he might be a very attractive young man. Or at least, that's the usual spiel he gets from his mother, anyway.
personality,, It's not that Edward doesn't take pride in himself, or that he isn't a hard worker, it's simply that he thinks there are more important things in life than wearing fancy clothes. The best way to describe Edward's personality in a word would probably be to say he was humble, or sweet, but that really doesn't give enough scope into his outlook. He's a positive, polite, conscientious worker, who values the simpler things in life- the feel of breaking into a canter on a horse in the middle of the country side, the thrill of leaping into a river from a bridge, the restful peace of lying in the sun and doing nothing at all for hours on end. It's all these things that he love most that make Edward who he is.
history,, Edward's mother, Yvette, worked as a maid in the Lancaster household from the age of 14, when she worked for Mr Lancaster's parents, right up until the day she fell ill, last spring. Because of this, Edward and his older sister Ruby did much of their growing up there, and are considered practically family by the two daughters. Growing up, Edward was always especially close with Ava-Lynne, who was the same age as him, and they quickly became best friends. That all had to change when Edward turned 15 and started work in the family's stables, leaving him less time to spend with Ava-Lynne, as well as making her the boss' daughter. She still visits him frequently in the stables, however, although he has become pretty nervous around her recently.

Wilson, Ruby

age,, 24
appearance,, Ruby Wilson has always seemed young for her age. With large, blue eyes and a gentle, innocent face, she is often mistaken for Edward's little sister, rather than his older one. She is not exactly pretty, but at the same time, isn't too hard on the eye, and her slender, petite form is usually clad in a plain white dress, teamed with a corset made of cheap, black fabric. Ruby's long, auburn curls are usually pulled up in a ribbon when she's at work, but when she has time off, she prefers to wear her hair down.
personality,, Since childhood, Ruby has always had an anger problem. It's not that she's especially violent- she just has a rotten temper when things don't happen the way she likes them to. Ruby has a very compulsive personality, and she likes things to be just-so; she has a place for everything, and everything in it's place. It's been painfully obvious since she was about 7 that she is bitterly jealous of the Lancaster family- Ruby just doesn't see why they, the two daughters in particular, should have so much money, when her family has so little. She works hard for what little money she has, most of which gets spent on her mother's medicines, as the doctor refuses to help pay, even though Yvette's worked for him for years.
history,, Like Edward, much of Ruby's childhood was spent playing with Mr Lancaster's kids while her mum worked. Unlike her brother, though, Ruby was never really close to the two girls, and disliked their whole family, purely because they were so much richer than she ever could be. When she reached the age of 17, Ruby finally realised it was time to find work, and got a job at the local grocer's weighing and bagging fruit and veg to be delivered.

Chester, Adam

age,, 16.
appearance,, Adam has always been told that he is too thin for his age. He is pale, with thick, dark hair which only makes the very white quality of his skin stand out more. He has striking dark eyes - they are a deep, intense brown and are surrounded by constant dark circles in his thin face. His features are not overly handsome, but nor is he ugly, and given the chance he might one day have grown to be a good-looking young man. However, malnutrition in his youth and over-working in his teenage years have led to a slightly gaunt appearance which does not seem to be about to improve. Adam is very thin, but he is also muscled from years of manual labour and is wiry but strong.
personality,, Adam is quiet and does not trust very easily. He is not very intelligent and does not have a high opinion of himself at all - he believes, probably correctly, that he will amount to nothing. Despite his quiet nature, it has been noted that when he loses control, he does become extremely angry and unstable and prone to violence.
history,, Adam was found at the tender age of seven by the doctor. He was homeless, living on the streets of the nearby city and struggling to survive one day to the next. His mother had died, and he had never known his father. He was desperate to avoid the workhouse and he was half-starved. Doctor Lancaster took pity on the waif of a boy and took him back with him to his estate in the small country village. However, he had a constant fear that Adam would prove to be untrustworthy and seduce his two daughters; therefore, he was never adopted as a son but instead sent to live in a rickety wooden building on the grounds of the house, there to spend his evenings whilst the days were passed either working as a stable hand, cleaning the house and serving the tables, or helping with the harvest if it was that time of year. He was also sent on daily errands around the village and offered out as a farm hand to the farmers in the area. Never accepted into the family and always treated as nothing more than a servant, in Doctor Lancaster's house, he grew up seeing more luxury than he had ever had, or could ever dream of having, and some said that this made the boy very bitter towards the doctor. Events that transpired early in his sixteenth year would increase this rumour.

Chapel, Louisa Anne

age,, 15.
appearance,, Louisa is very youthful in appearance. She does not look her age, but she is still a pretty girl and will no doubt be beautiful when she is older. Her eyes are a soft shade somewhere in the middle of brown and green, and her features are generally very gentle. She has long black hair with strands that often hang over her face whilst the rest is pinned up - despite her mother's protests that leaving chunks of hair dangling across her features is displeasing to the eye, she hates her own looks and seeks to disguise them by leaving her hair like this.
personality,, Louisa is obedient and very quiet. She appears to follow every rule exactly and seldom speaks to strangers because she is incredibly shy. She enjoys her own company and is an intelligent girl with a talent for drawing and writing. She has a small journal in which she crafts poetry and still-life sketches. Believing she is worthless, she has never had the courage to show these to anyone.
history,, Louisa is clearly terrified of her father, who works as a bank manager in the nearby city. He often beats her and her mother because he is devoutly religious and uses his beliefs to proclaim that as a male, he is superior, and thus he will not tolerate any form of insubordination from his wife and daughter. Interested in money, he is seeking a rich husband for Louisa, and wants her to marry a much older gentleman from the city, (one of his connexions from the bank) - she is repulsed by this idea. Louisa just wants to be understood, and sought comfort in the arms of Adam Chester. Before she knew it, she found herself pregnant with his child and when Doctor Lancaster found out, he had a furious argument with Adam and beat him before threatening to throw him out onto the streets. He was on the verge of informing Louisa's father of the pregnancy when he was killed, and of course at this time any woman who was pregnant before she was married, particularly to a boy of lower class and no status, was extremely disapproved of. It would have put an end to her marital prospects and, knowing Louisa's father's temper, it might have resulted in her death.

Chapel, George Edmund

age,, 26.
appearance,, George has inherited some of his father's strong, handsome features and his striking brown eyes, but there is a superior, cocky turn to his mouth which disfigures what could be a pleasant appearance. His hair is always perfectly groomed with not a strand out of place. Standing at 6'0", he is tall and has broad shoulders whilst remaining thin. He dresses impeccably and walks with what is almost a swagger - he is fully aware that his family is upstanding and that he is going to be very rich once his father passes away and leaves the management of the bank to him.
personality,, George is not intentionally cruel, but he is so relentlessly cocky that he makes everyone around him feel inferior. This, of course, is not the best way to make friends, and he is not very popular in the village, although he does not realize this. Some of the sillier girls do like him, but the more level-headed ones believe he is an idiot and dread being forcibly engaged to him. Despite the fact that he believes his father's male chauvinistic ways, he would not hit his wife himself - he is not as violent as his father. However, he is relentlessly irritating.
history,, Like his father, George works at the bank. He is already quite rich in his own right and has his own home in the village outside of his father's estate. One day, he will inherit the bigger house; for now, he is content in his own reasonably-sized home. George is very interested in money and believes, correctly in some cases, that many women would love to marry him because of the huge inheritance he is promised and the wage he is already earning. He has his sights set on the doctor's daughters, probably the eldest - Lillian - although he would have no qualms about marrying the younger sister. However, George never got on well with Doctor Lancaster and was said to complain that he would stand in the way of his engagement to one of the two girls. Now that the doctor is dead, George thinks his path is clear - he cannot think of any reason why they would refuse to marry him.

Just little details that annoy me.
Hopefully not, though; think I've got it sorted now

And I know they do, but it took me at least half an hour to find pictures close to what I wanted, and this was the best I could find

Walters, Alice Marie

appearance,, Standing next to her stunning sister, Alice may look rather drab and average. She is pretty, but doesn't hold the typical feminine beauty that's so appreciated by society. Alice is more boyish in looks, petite with broad shoulders, a small chest and a lack of curves. Her face, in contrast, is made up of softer, slightly rounder features. She has bright blue eyes not unlike her sister's, although hers are more thoughtful and intelligent. Unlike the thick, long tresses that are so sought after by many girls, Alice's hair is cropped short in a pixie-like cut. Even more scandalous than the cut is the color of her hair, being a unmistakable and startling red. Her skin, drastically different than her sister's perfect ivory complexion, is golden, due very much to endless hours spent in the sun.
personality,, Alice has always been strange, or at least, compared to her sister. To strangers, she might seem quiet and distant, which is partially true; she doesn't go out of her way to talk to people, at least not usually. But when spoken to, she is extremely forward and almost always speaks her mind. To put it simply, she doesn't hold back. This doesn't go over well with her mother, who believes very strongly in the idea that young ladies should be seen and not heard. This being, Mrs. Walters usually does all that she can to stop people from asking Alice questions, as she is most likely to give an incredibly bold answer. She has a habit of thinking too much, you see. Being a rather intelligent and observant girl, she can make the most incredulous deductions, ones that catch people entirely off guard. She is not easily rattled or angered, and keeps up a very calm demeanor. She's also always been rather tomboyish, much to her mother's disdain. Alice loves spending time outside, either riding or climbing trees or simply walking through town.
history,, When Alice and her sister, Tanya, were girls, the Walters family seemed to be the image of perfection. A successful father, a charming mother, and two promising young ladies. Alice and Tanya would be married off as soon as they came of age, and Mr. and Mrs. Walters could retire comfortably. Things were looking bright. That is, until George Walters became awful good friends with alcohol. Mrs. Walters was horrified; if the town found out her husband was an addict, they would be ruined. She tried to hush the whole thing up, having the doctor treat her husband in secret. To explain her husband's constant absence? "He's away on business." Of course, after this long, many in the village have begun to question Mr. Walters' whereabouts, despite Mrs. Walters' desperate attempts to keep the whole thing a secret.

Walters, Tanya Kate

appearance,, Tanya is a beautiful girl, her mother's pride and joy. Her frame is small with subtle, feminine curves, her skin of ivory complexion. Her face, heart shaped, is made up of innocent, demure features, framed by soft golden tresses. And her eyes, the same stunning blue as her sister's, yet somehow more lovely than startling on her soft face. She has this all together very feminine look to her, from her thick eyelashes to her dainty, long fingers.
personality,, Tanya is the image of a proper lady, to put it simply. Charming but not bold, she never wavers the expectations of a young lady. To strangers and suitors, she's polite, pleasant, and all together quite alluring. But that's only a part of her. Although she'd never highlight this, she's rather vain, knowing all too well how beautiful she is and expects people to notice as well. She has a certain obsession with being considered an ideal wife, and is only satisfied when she has suitors breaking down the door for her-which is, oddly enough, usually the case. Tanya loathes her father, because to her, he is a disgrace to the family name for being an addict. This being, she is just as desperate as her mother to keep her father's "condition" a secret. She dislikes her sister quite a lot as well, and thinks herself higher than Alice. Once upon a time, she really was as charming and carefree as she may seem, but the stress of constantly trying to impress her mother has taken a toll on her persona.
history,, Tanya has always considered herself suited for the wealthy life. Since she was a little girl, people in the town have always thought highly of her, being the beautiful, pleasant girl she is. When her father became a drunk, it became all the more important for her to be married off, and preserve the family name. However, suitable men in the town always seem to be charmed by the Lancaster sisters rather than herself. For this reason, Tanya has always hated them, yet envious at the same time.

Davidson, Zachary Robert

Reddish brown unruly hair, lightly tanned complexion but nothing that would make him look as though he works hard, fairly tall around 6ft 3", very angular features and a dazzling crooked grin.

Zachary is a a bit of a loner, intelligent, curious, quietly reserved but can be very charming when he wants to be, Zachary is overall quite a mysterious being.
history,,
Zachary grew up in a wealthy manor house with his parents Catherine and Robert and his younger sister Isabelle, he however, although has not led a deprived life, has led rather an unhappy one, Zachary felt as though he never really fit in, and the only person he could ever be close to was his sister Isabelle.
Zachary did not get on with his father, a pompous, large man who was far too full of himself as Zachary liked to say, and was richer than was healthier for him.
Zachary is a disappointment to his father Robert, not only for working purposes but for marriage too, Robert has more than often introduced him to many young, beautiful, and most importantly, rich, ladies. However Zachary has never seemed to be able to settle down with any one of them.
Robert is looking into an arranged marriage between his son Zachary and one of his colleague's daughters, a Wilson girl.
However there appears to be some competition, and Zachary isn't exactly helping considering he doesn't appear to be interested in either of the daughters, and is not willing to meet them.

Soft blonde long curly hair, pale skin, big blue eyes, very angular features like her brother but quite a striking face all the same, slender and petite.

Isabelle is quieter than Zachary, she's more of a dreamer but just as intelligent, Isabelle is quite shy around others except for her brother, she is actually very opinionated but is young so her opinion is often silenced or dismissed, Isabelle is a very free spirit.
history,,
Isabelle, unlike her brother, is not shown as much attention from her father but fears that betrothed marrigae might just effect her too, Isabelle is determined not to let this happen, she wants to marry for love alone, like the characters of her novels. BUt Isabelle yet strives to find her happy ending, he mother is a suffocating woman, beautiful but not very smart, she is convinced that no woman is worth anything unless she is beautiful, knows what the latest fashions are and is married to a wealthy man, she thinks that women are only good for giving birth. This hurts Isabelle, because she wants to be so much more than that.

Not feelin' so hot myself right now, couldn't get to sleep til about 5 am.. I need to go to school, ugh.
But I did just post and finally got Harrison in there, yay! He's pretty simple, so I think I'm going to try and broaden his character when I can, since he's not in major particular relation to anyone even though he practically knows everyone. I'm thinking about using him as sort of a detective type later on.
