Mystery of the Caribbean ( )

Postby Akishra on Thu Jan 24, 2008 12:34 am

OOC: Pirates of the Caribbean spoof, people! :P Here's how it works. You pick your charecter, then chose someone corresponding from the movies! I'm going to be Alex, and I call Captain Jack! (Because this is my roleplay!) Now, for reasons as of yet unknown, your charecter and the POTC charecter have traded places. For example, my charecter, Alex, is now captain of the Black Pearl, holder of a Peice of Eight, and brought back from the dead! Your charecter does not have to be like the charecter you chose -- acctually, that's half of what makes it fun! You can have an utter pansy pretend to be Davey Jones, and a boyish person take the place of Elizabeth! You can even be the Kracken, or the monkey, Jack, or Cotton's parrot! I must, however, ask that whoever takes control of Cotton recognise he does have a parrot, and you may take that role. Same with Barbossa and Jack (the monkey) or Jones and the Kracken.

Synopsis of the plot: Your charecter has taken the place of someone from Pirates of the Caribbean, and are utterly confused about all this. They automatically know their place in possition to others, but that doesn't mean they have the skills -- or the desire! -- to be that person. Now, you all want to find a way to get back. Perhaps near the end we can meet up with the real people from POTC!
-- I will control all movie charecters. It's my roleplay, I'll do all the hard work.
I will assume all charecters not taken are in their present roles. I will replace them accordingly as more people come in. Your charecter will be appearing in the movie charecter's clothes. Don't worry, you don't have to describe these -- if it's a specific article of clothing that they wore in any one of the movies, then say "It's Elizabeth's wedding dress", or "It's Norrington's peasant's clothes -- the ones he was wearing on Tortuga". And one more thing -- please, do not choose an obscure charecter. We want to be sure everyone recognises them.

Basic rules, no god-modding, ect. MY RULES: No swearing, no pornography. I don't mind violence (I don't live on it, but it advances the plot) but I don't want any violent charecters/criminals unless they're NPCs. And one more thing, please, no religious themes. I'm just fine with you're religion, but not many people are fine with mine. No, it's not satanic, but there's no god in my religion, so I've been persecuted by a lot of people for it. So, please, no religious themes. We all want to get along here

I DEMAND GOOD GRAMMAR!!! One thing people get wrong: commas. Read the sentence out to yourself. Where ever you naturally put a pause, put a comma. I don't want to see "He got up and went to the door then got his coat", I want to see "He got up and went to the door, then got his coat." A second thing people get wrong: semicolans. Semicolans combine two sentences ("It was cold; he was glad he wore his coat" instead of "It was cold. He was glad he wore his coat". I DO NOT want to see "It was cold, he was glad he wore his coat" because commas don't go there!). So please, if you use a semicolan, use it in that format.

Some other mistakes...:
- "there" = "over there", as in "Look over THERE, at the tree"/"their" = "belonging to them", as in "That is THEIR dog"/"they're" = "they are", as in "Look at what THEY'RE doing"
-"to" = indicating directing. ex - "I went TO him" "I handed it TO him"/"two" = 2 "There were TWO smarties"/"too" = also "I want to go, too"
-eachother is two words (each other)
-"your" = "belonging to you", as in "Is that YOUR cat?"/"you're" = "you are", as in "YOU'RE going, too?"
-"aloud" = "out loud", as in "He spoke ALOUD"/"alowed" = "not forbidden", as in "Yes, it is ALLOWED"
-alot is two words (a lot)
-"lose" = "to misplace", as in "He was afraid he would LOSE it", or "He would LOSE all his money"/"loose" = "not tight", as in "The shirt was LOOSE and hid her body" or "The tie was LOOSE and hung far down his chest"

Also, no short forms. I don't want to see "plz give it 2 me", I want to see "Please give it to me". This isn't MSN. You have time to type out your messages properly. So please, do so. If you don't, all it can mean is that you don't care enough to be in the roleplay, and your post will be deleted.

Now, if all my rules haven't gotten you down, lets begin!

Please, when posting your charecter profile, use this format:
Name:
Sex:
Age:
Movie charecter:
Movie charecter's rank:
Qualifications (or lack of them):

Now, for mine:
Name: Alexandra (Alex for short)
Sex: Female
Age: 14
Movie charecter: Cap'n Jack Sparrow
Movie charecter's rank: Captain of the Black pearl
Qualifications (or lack of them): Alex is rather shy, and so would have trouble getting out there. She is, however, more on the boyish end of the spectrum, and is a pretty good leader, once she's comfortable with people and knows she has their support.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(OOC: And now, we start!)

Alex sat bold upright, not sure where she was or what had happened. She was on a ship, that was for sure. A ship with black sails.

People were standing all around her, staring at her. Looking down at herself, she gasped -- the clothes she was in weren't like hers at all.

'The captin...seems to have changed a bit,' said a certain bald migit.

'Aye,' said another man, in a blue vest and with greying sideburns.

It was only then that Alex realized where she was, and who she was.

This was the world out of Pirates of the Caribbean.

She was Jack Sparrow.

((This sounds quite amusing, I think I'll join))
Name: Danny
Sex:Female
Age:25
Movie character: Tia'Dulma
Movie charecter's rank: Goddess of the Sea ((bound to land of course))
Qualifications (or lack of them): Danny is an observer of life, always watching the sea with great interest, studies everything before actually taking the risk of something. She is quiet, soft-spoken, and suspicious of everyone.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Danny had been dreaming of the sea when a sudden rock of her bed woke her with a start. "Wha... Where am I?" she asked softly. She looked about her room and realized that it wasn't exactly her room. "Is this some type of joke?" she asked aloud and then looked down at her clothes, expecting to see the white t-shirt she had worn to bed, but instead she was wearing a rather large skirt and shirt. 'Wait...' she lifted her hand to her head and felt her hair. It was beaded exactly like Tia'Dulma's from Pirates of the Carribean. 'What the hell?' she thought and jumped up to her feet.

She ran to the door and pushed it open. She froze as she stared out across the deck of a rather large wooden ship.

(OOC: ^-^ Welcome!)

Alex looked at the girl who recently came out of the cabin, dressed like Tia'Dulma. She didn't look like the witch doctor, though -- she looked far more like someone from Alex's own time, except slightly older.

'...Hello,' she said. 'Who are you?'

'Slap me thrice and hand me to me mama,' muttered the man Alex had now identified as Gibbs. 'There's two of them!'

"I'm... I'm Danny," she said as she looked around. "Is this for real or some kind of sick joke?" Danny scratched her head as she studied each person. 'What in the world? Is that Mr. Gibbs?' she thought to herself. 'This has got to be a freakin' dream. It has to be.'

Alex set her mouth in a firm line. 'I wish it was,' she said. 'But it doesn't look like it.'

The sea began to rumble. Looking behind her, Alex thought she saw a ship rising quickly out of it, barnacle-covered and desolate. With a sinking feeling in her stomach, Alex realised, to her horror, that it was the Flying Dutchman.

"What in the...?" Danny asked and then froze when she saw the Flying Dutchman. "Someone slap me, and do it quick." Her head tilted to the side as she blinked, trying to clear her mind. 'What the heck? The Flying Dutchmen? The clothes? Mr. Gibbs? I've been thrown into the Pirates of the Caribbean!' She groaned lightly, but it had been her favorite movie.

Alex looked back at the girl who she was calling (in her mind) Tia'Dulma. She nodded shakily, the shock having gotten to her so that she was numb. 'Yeah...Yeah, that's what I thought, too.' Turning back to the Flying Dutchman, she wondered why no body was doing anything. Then, she remembered that, as the captain, she had to give the orders.

'...Come about!' she yelled. 'Ready the cannons!'

Suddenly, everyone sprung into action. They ran to the steering wheel, turning so that their side faced her. Below, Alex could hear crashes and thuds as people put cannon balls in their places and moved cannons into position. Bracing herself against the noise as the first cannon fired, sending a hole through the side of the ghost ship, Alex put a hand to her stomach, hoping everything would turn out all right.

Danny gulped as she watched the other ship. She shook her head and started to help out. 'I've always wanted to be a pirate,' she thought and shrugged. She worked quickly to help get the cannons in line and rolled over some of the bombs.

Alex had herself a sling, made of leather she had found in a back alley. She lengthened the wick on a bomb and lit it, then swung it in her sling until she had built up enough momentum to fling it onboard the Flying Dutchman. It blew up in a crewmember's face, causing him to fall and lie still, though Alex doubted he would stay that way. Doing the same with another, she did it again, this time destroying two men.

The crew of both ships fell silent as a new man came up onto the deck, clunking every other step. He had tentacles on his face and a claw for one hand. With a chill, Alex realized he was Davey Jones, captain of the Flying Dutchman.

Stopping at the railing of the ship, he called out, 'Where be Captain Jack Sparra?' he said, his accent making "Sparrow" sound different. Swallowing, Alex stepped foreward. '...I-I am Captain Jack,' she said, in as loud a voice as she could muster without yelling.

Danny gulped lightly and watched the two captains speak. She did not like this, not one bit. 'Oh man... If she's Captain Jack.... that means.... I'm Tia'Dulma,' she thought to herself. 'Oh great.' She stepped up and joined the captain. She was the bound goddess of the sea, wasn't she?

Davey Jones looked at Alex for a moment, then threw back his head, and began laughing. It was a deep, humourless laugh, the laugh of a man who knew what he was hearing was B.S.

'No more lies,' he said, looking at the two women again. 'Tell me the truth, where be Captain Sparra?'

Alex licked her lips, a hand automatically going to her abdomen. '...Th-this is the truth. I am Captain Jack. Just...in a different form.'

Danny watched the other girl from the corner of her eye and then she looked at Davey Jones. "It's the truth. This is the captain," she said in hopes that he would believe her.

Davey Jones looked at her, seemingly horrified. Seeing this, Alex glanced beside her -- it took her a moment to make the connection.

Davey Jones spat at her. 'And who asked you?!' he said to her. Alex put a hand on her shoulder, hoping this new girl didn't take the obvious insult personally.

Danny stepped back, slightly away from Davey Jones. 'What in the world did I just do?' she thought to herself. She was horrified of the Flying Dutchman and its captain. She scratched her head lightly and stepped back. She became very interested in her surroundings that she wondered off the deck and went below.

Alex watched the woman go, then turned around to look back at Davey Jones. The captain continued to stare at her, then said, 'Get me Captain Jack, before I take you in his place.' Turning away, he walked away, and the Dutchman fell beneith the seas.

Going below deck, she seeked out the girl who had taken the place of Tia'Dulma. Finding her, Alex put a hand on her shoulder. '...Excuse me...Are you okay?'

"Yeah... yeah, I'm fine," she said nodding her head. "I don't know why I said that. Why are we here? This isn't where we're supposed to be?" She shivered slightly and scratched her head. "Oh well, I've always wanted to be a pirate." She laughed and went off, observing things and the people on board.

Alex smiled to herself, then sat down beside the girl, not knowing why she suddenly felt so...in charge. 'I know,' she said. 'We're not supposed to be here. But...Hey, you can't be all that bad. You stood up for me,' she said, giving the girl a half smile. Looking down, she rested her arms on her knees and dangled them between her legs, then looked back at the girl. 'I wanted to be a pirate, too,' she said. Looking at the opposite wall, she sat up slightly, remembering days long past. 'I was six years old. I thought I could sail the seas, and finally learn where my parents were.' She smiled sadly. 'Wasn't I naive.'

"Yeah, I know what you mean," she said as she studied the below deck. "And now, here we are.... shoved into our dreams. It'll be interesting for what's worth it." Danny smiled and laughed lightly as she shook her head. "It makes you wonder who else we'll end up seeing, though, and what the world will look like." She thought about home, but didn't care if she was supposed to be at work or anywhere for that matter. She was now her dream, a pirate, but aren't I also in Tia'Dulma's clothing? she thought. "I guess I'm Tia'Dulma."
