If you are reading this thread, there is a possibility that your existing Interest Check was just locked. Or, you are looking to write an Interest Check, and are curious about the additional guidelines that exist for doing so.
There are a variety of reasons that a thread in the Interest Check forum could be locked. For reference, the following items all stem directly from the official RPG Rules, which you can view by clicking "Our Rules" at the top of the page.
So, what will get my topic locked?
- 1. CYBERING - We do not condone pure smut roleplay. This is not meant to censor creative freedom, but to ensure that this public board is maintained on a level of maturity, and literary value. Requests for roleplays that are essentially explicit pornography will be removed.
However, adult content is permitted under the following conditions:
- 1. The content is tagged appropriately
2. The content is written collaboratively, so as not to clutter the story.
Sexually explicit (kissing, fondling, etc.) interactions must be concluded immediately in the responding author's post and must be separated by at least 5 posts of other non-adult writing. Help keep RolePlayGateway smut-free by working together with your game's players to meet this requirement.
2. GENDER REQUESTS - You may not request the gender of your writer, but you may request the gender of the character.
3. SLAVE/MASTER ROLEPLAYS - Generally, when these sorts of roleplays crop up, they are purely an outlet for cybering (see #1). Because of this, requesting a slave/master RP is disallowed. However, topics of slavery and abuse can be approached with literary value and creative care, but the core of the story should be revolving around characters, goals, conflict, not who happens to be wearing the collar.
4. YAOI, YURI, "SLASH" - This does not ban homosexual relationships! Similar to the previous point - generally, when roleplays are labeled as this, they are an outlet for cybering. If your roleplay is about a same-sex relationship, that is perfectly fine. But this tag has dominant associations with sex roleplay, rather than a narrative tale.
5. IM REQUESTS - The Interest Checks forum is for users looking to host their roleplays on this website. We want you to be open to explore friendships through RolePlayGateway, and grow as a community. We give you a great deal of tools, tricks, and tips to host your story here, through our variety of services. Seeking roleplays to be held off-site through IM (Skype, AIM, MSN, Yahoo, etc) is considered spam.
6. ONE-ON-ONE/PRIVATE ROLEPLAYS - You are allowed to have a roleplay with just one other partner. You are not allowed to label your thread as "Looking for 1x1" or "Private Roleplay." This encourages you to put more thought into your story, and give it a proper title to differentiate it from other roleplay requests.
7. CREATING MULTIPLE TOPICS - You are allowed to bump your Interest Check if it is not getting attention. Do not post additional threads in this forum, or any other forum. This is a busy forum with lots of requests going through. You might not get the replies you expect. Please do not spam, in compensation.
8. OOC TOPICS - These should not be here, but in the main Out of Character forum! This place is for people looking to start a roleplay.
