Welcome to The New Age
A Pirates Roleplay

IC Thread (Click Link): A New Age (IC)

This is a roleplay establish by those who enjoy the old times where conflict occured frequently by those called Pirates and the armies of European Countries. Here you can choose your own side, Pirates or Colonial (Colonial being the general term) of a European Nation. It's basically a roleplay that lets you live out your life within the shoes of those in the past, and doing basically anything you think they would or you would do in their place. There will be a total of three crews of pirates (until the roleplay expands) and three European Countries involved with those crews; England, France, and Spain. These will change as the roleplay progresses, and new people join.

The Crews

There are three total crews so far in the roleplay.

Description
The Marionette is the most famous Pirate Ship to ever lay in the bays of the North Sea. It's captain, Captain Edward, is a previous noble of England, who sought adventure and chaos. The ship itself belonged to Edward throughout his nobility, and was re-modeled after he abandoned the country of England. The name "The Marionette" was given to the ship because of it's previous occupation, as a theater ship. Mostly ventriloquists came and performed, which is how Edward received his money. He was a famous ventriloquist himself, which plays a major role in his infamousy.

Description
Known for its speed and seeming indestructibility, the Hanyewi has survived storms, fires, and treacherous waters not usually survived by ships. The Hanyewi got the red sails when a previous owner had nothing to make new sails with but a bunch of hooker dresses. (Don't ask.) They have become a sort of trademark of the ship.

The Colonials

There are currently three European Countries Ifiliated to the Roleplay

Description
Great Britain is currently suffering and trying to recooperate from the loss in America after their revolution. They still have one of the biggest trade companies in the world along with the strongest Navy. Their main export is tea, gunpowder, and gold, which they trade to both America and other European Countries. They are currently dealing with the recooperation but also the treachery of Edward Cunning and his brigade of pirates.

Description
France is in an interesting predicament, currently within a revolution of it's own under the lead of Napoleon Bonapart. The revolution had only begun a few years ago and is currently raging on as Napoleon takes control of most of France's army. Of course, while suffering from the revolution, the government in France is also suffering from piracy, off the West Coast in the Pacific Ocean.

Description
Spain is suffering major conflicts from piracy, which is the only thing that currently troubles the nation. Spain is the most popular area for Pirates to travel and attack due to the stories they hear of the gold found in Spain and Portugal.

Conclusion

I have a question: If this is American Revolution era, why does Britain have Aviation, which didn't come about for another century and a half?

Caspian is witty and oft-times somewhat rude. May induce feelings of hurt.

A small dagger, his garb (consists of leather leggings and a whitish clothen shirt), and a small spyglass.
+ History:
Caspian was introduced to piracy by a few 'friends' of his at the oh-so-innocent age of twenty. Now that they've disappeared in a rather suspicious journey to try raiding Spain, he's joined in the crew of the Marionette to have a bit of "innocent fun", as he assures all who cross his path. His claims are undermined, unfortunately, by the fact that most who do cross his path often find their wallets somewhat lighter...

Casp grew up in an unnamed village. His father was the tramp of the village, and his mother was little better in the eyes of society. Their son was similarly despised, and he turned to thieving and pilfery early in his adolescence. At eighteen, when he was considered of age, he left the town of his own desire, and, of course, with a sagging pocket.
He travelled, slowly spending his money until he got to a town and made 'friendly contact' with all the petty criminals. He honed his skills at sneaking, stealing, and explaining himself there, until at last he joined the crew of the Marionette.

Born into nobility, he was taught swordsmanship from an early age. The family tutor hammered into him knowlege of firearms as Sir Niat ran a firearms company. Though he learned all of this well, he always had craved adventure on th eopen sea, and taught himself all about ships and Naval Warfare in secret. At the age of fsixteen he ran away from home after his parents tried to arrange a marriage that wasn't to his liking. Taking on his craving, he joined a pirate crew and has been working with them since.

Anyway, I decided to post Edward's biography early, so we can begin.

+ Psychological Analysis:
He is usually extremely quiet, and when he talks, he doesn't talk for long. He is an excellent strategist, which also makes him an excellent thief. He doesn't like the pirate language used commonly in folklore and would prefer it if everyone stuck to their original accents. He doesn't like it when people purposely make themselves sound idiotic. Other than that he is an easy person to get along with, and he doesn't usually do many things for fun. He's often found in his quarters reading maps, charts, and books. He also enjoys ventriloquism, which he incorporates with most of his 'jobs' as he calls it, and likes to entertain his crew using them. How they are used is strange and almost as if he doesn't use them at all, and they have minds of their own.

His family is a long line of ventriloquists who used to serve as a jester for his majesty, the King of England, but soon they branched off and became a noble family. Eventually even, ventriloquism was stopped being used by his family, until Edward came along. Edward re-opened his family's ship and gave it adjustments to fit the new age, even weapons for the near future, which he planned deliberately. He already received money each month from the Kingdom but Ventriloquism was his 'second job'. After murdering his family, he used his ship, The Marionette, to escape England for the life of a Pirate, becoming the captain.

+ Specialty: Medicine and Alchemy(Chemistry), Lore(Mysticism), Swashbuckling alongside some parlour cantrips and if need be Diplomacy

+ Physical Description: Blonde hair, blue eyes and skin abit too fair to hint his allegiance to a pirate crew. Cidian has once too many times infiltrated the ranks of the Nobles with solely his looks, albeit his mannerisms could use more work. A Felt Bucaneer's Hat that rests on his scalp, denotes his position as the ship's Quartermaster.

+ Psychological Analysis: Both Protagonist and Antagonistic, he judges any given situation on how much it would benefit him. The world revolves around him, he doesn't go to lengths to deny that often admitting to his self superiority complex rather humorously. This has led him to become slightly greedy, though his own set of philosophies and his crew mates are often in battle to contradict or set free this trait of his. Being one of the more well educated of the lot, he sees things as a whole and understands the intrinsic values of things (even as a pirate!) to a much greater extent. He values freedom, rich rum and a good set of bosoms(along with a good sense of style).

He can be found in his quarters during any spare time, an apothecary of strange objects, catalouges, plant nurseries, instruments of all sorts and trinkets from across the seven seas resigning himself to projects and quiet reading in recluse. Cidian seems like someone who is at home on land, or at sea.

+ Inventory: Two Falchions, Agetha and Mariane/Mariam
A Flintlock Pistol named 'Mundo Espada'
A hidebound toolkit, complete with tools ranging from scapels to lockpicks
A silver plated canister, which holds rum for most part
Journals of sorts, recording the finds of his and others often containing encyclopedias and books on esoteric subjects
A contract with the Voyager's Guild of Northern Europe
Cache of plant parts and alchemical reagents, includes a magnifying monocle

Typical classy pirate garbs, a red overcoat rimmed with gold color, a white undershirt that overlaps two belts where only one is needed to hold his trousers.

+ History: As the aristocrats grew corrupted in their petty wars, so did those beneath them. The dividen that crossed wealth and poverty grew wider and wider, the rich revelled in luxury while the poor had to rob. The land, all so innocent, confident in it's neutrality. In one night, fire swathed it's surface and the homes of many were lost. Whether this was a rebellion or coercion, no one knew. Those too old fled or were never seen again, those too young were abandoned to witness the destruction of their homes. One lone soul stood staring at the roaring blaze, seeing the conspiracy in it's true hideous form.

He now resides upon The Marionette, seeking greater fortune and freedom of will. Rebellion and revenge, he masquerades between the two factions to cause chaos that will shatter the corruption that has befallen the land.

+ Trivia: Cid possess unique knowledge to literally create sailing wind that blurs the line of science and the work of miracles, a well kept secret that grants a navigational advantage to the Marionette.

+ Profession: is a Pirate
+ Rank: Captain, but he goes by Commodore, because it's longer if nothing else, and he's a pirate; he can do what he wants.
+ Specialty: A good marksman, and none too shabby with a sword. But his big thing is being able to do anything boat-related. He is a captain, after all.

+ Physical Description: Tall, with coarse black hair and a short beard and mustache. Wears the usual outfit of one in that day (you know, ruffles, boots and all that), with a long Captain-Hook-esque jacket, except his is black. He has a matching hat.

+ Psychological Analysis: If he were on a forum, he'd lurk. He's none too social, and would probably prefer to be in a little one-man boat in the middle of the ocean if it wasn't for the fact that he needs food. And money is nice too. And, despite his solitary nature, he does like to get drunk in a bar once in a while.

+ Inventory: Gun, knife, ammo, spyglass, watch, skeleton key, some rum, and star charts, although he rarely uses them.

+ History: He started out as a fisherman, and he got captured by pirates. Faced with either joining them or getting thrown overboard, he picked the smart choice. The captain noticed his instincts for sailing early on, leading to Bill's quick movement through the ranks. Bill didn't have much of a sense of morals to stand in the way as a career as a thief, but he usually had misgivings about robbing people who were less rich than he was. This was beaten out of him.
Anyway, his captain took up a partnership with another pirate captain, and the two ships worked as a fleet. The death of the other captain caused his captain to decide on retirement, leaveing Bill as commodore of the mini-fleet. Within a month, the two ships had broken up again, leaving Bill as captain of the slower ship, which he swapped for the faster Hanyewi.
