Adam walked through the halls of the high school, his ears occupied by earphones blaring "So Cold" by Breaking Benjamin. On his locker was a flier. He read it and shook his head, taking it off and looking around, waiting for his friends and bandmates to show.
The three of them all had Audio/Visual during the last period of the day while Adam had P.E. They had just come from their own lockers as well, holding similar fliers.
"Do you believe this?" Shaun, the band's bassist asked as they came up to Adam.
"We should be the entertainment for that party," Danny, the drummer, said, appearing in a slight rage.
"It's still a party," Adam said to them, "And it's hard for us to deny a party," he said with a smile.
"We didn't say we weren't going," Danny grinned.
"Is there practice tonight?" Michael, the lead guitarist asked, looking at Adam.
"Yeah, got some new stuff I wanted to play around with," Adam nodded, "See how you guys like it. See what we can do with it, you know."
"Cool, see you guys then," Shaun said as he exited the building, walking out to his '89 Ford Bronco and driving away.
"New stuff, huh?" Danny said, "Looking forward to it," Danny waved as he left, entering his '97 Pontiac Grand Prix.
Adam and Michael lived next door to each other as well as close to the school. They figured they were close enough to the school that it wasn't a real hassle to walk home.
They chatted as they walked home; Adam couldn't help but think there was something fishy about a party at the beginning of the year. He didn't even think it had been organized by the school, but he didn't say anything.
Adam and Michael dropped their stuff off inside Adam's house as they went to the garage. Inside were the band's "weapons" as they called them. In front, near the mic was Adam's Ibanez RG220. Behind that and off to the side was Michael's Gibson SG and Shaun's Gibson EB-3. Finally, in the back was Danny's drumset consisting of Pearl Drums, Sabian cymbals, and Vic Firth drumsticks.
While the two waited for Danny and Shaun to show up, they began to jam to some music they knew. When they arrived, they got set up quickly. Generally, as a warm-up, they would perform a cover song from current rock bands. Their favorite songs to do were "Stricken" by Disturbed and "I Stand Alone" by Godsmack. Each member had been trying to coming up with new material so they could develop their own sound. They wanted success and seemed well on their way to get it.
