Zack stopped long enough to give his knuckles a rest; he massaged them gently, desperately trying to relieve his hand of the cramping. He looked at the person he had been beating. The man had a bloody nose, and his eyes were purple. His shirt was also torn at both shoulders.
Zack had asked politely asked for the man’s wallet, but the man had refused. Zack had been consequently been forced to teach the man a lesson he wouldn’t forget. The man fell back and slid down the wall. Zack smiled. He loved the feel of victory when someone fell because of his might.
There was a sound out his right. He turned ready to sprint, but saw it was only Fang. The cobra’s slim, but massive body slithered along the ground towards Zack. “Did you take care of this gentlemen’s animal?” hissed Zack communicating with his linked serpent.
Fang hissed repeatedly, his form of laughter and replied, “His cat was of no difficulty. You should of seen scream as I spat venom in its face.” Zack joined in with the snake’s laugh, then crouched down beside the man and calmly removed his wallet. He opened it up, took all the notes and coins and tossed the leather item back at the heavily-breathing man.
Their business now finished the pair left the alley and made the way into a main road. It was fairly empty with the exception of a few tourists and a couple of people taking a walk. Deciding to take a left turn, Zack and Fang were about twenty-five meters up the road when a woman shrieked.
Turning around in alarm, they both felt nervous as the man they had just robbed appeared at the mouth of the alley, leaning on the arm of the screeching woman. As soon as his eyes fixed upon the boy and his serpent, he pointed and shouted “IT WAS THOSE TWO!”
Then Zack and Fang bolted for their usually rendezvous point: the usually empty chapel. Zack ran like a machine, and despite having no legs Fang kept up just fine. When they reached chapel they stopped outside for a moment, and listened carefully for the pursuing police. He looked at Fang, who was in desperate need of water. When the sounds didn’t sound like they were coming in their direction, he stopped and saw two girls sitting on a bench.
He approached them calmly, and said in a suave voice, “You fine ladies wouldn’t happen to have a bottle of water I might be able to borrow. My friend Fang,” gesturing towards the exhausted snake, “is in desperate need of a drink.”
