Rosemary Woke early, before the sun had even risen and quickly busied herself with preparing for the day. She went to the small dusty mirror in the servant quarters and quickly brushed her long red hair back into a tight ponytail at the back her head. She Scanned over her face with her emerald eyes quickly, making sure no dirt or grime messed her features. She had to look her best or the lady of the house would send her down to be punished. She shivered at the thought. Punishment in the lady's home was not pleasant.

"Up early as usual Miss Rosemary." The kind old cook said with a motherly smile. Ever since the death of her mother Rosemary had more or less been adopted by the cook. The kind old woman always looked out for Rosemary and was always had an open ear should Rosemary have a need to share her thoughts or feelings.

Rosemary smiled and Nodded bowing her head respectfully to the woman. She could feel the curls bounce at the back of her head with the gesture. The old woman smiled back and licked her thumb, rubbing clean a smudge that was on the side of the young maid's nose. Rosemary smiled once more. "Thank you Hilda." She bowed her head and turned to her bunk with the one drawer set aside for her uniform.

The uniform was a basic maid's outfit, black dress with white stockings and a white apron. The little white hat wasn't required so Rosemary chose not to wear it most days since it was itchy and uncomfortable. When she was pleased with her attire Rosemary quickly ran from the servants quarters and out to the barn where she was to feed the horses. Her morning chores always took her right up until breakfast. Once finished she returned back to the kitchen to grab the waiting silver platter piled high with all the young master's favorite breakfast foods. Rosemary took the tray up the stairs and gently knocked on the heavy wooden door with the plate of food. "Good morning Sir. I have your breakfast." She waited patiently for a response from the young master. Her cheeks barely tinted a rosy pink as she waited for the order to be given that she could enter.

James opened his eyes slowly, looking ahead he saw the familiar face of Rosemary. Her shiny red hair was glinting off the sun and her emerald eyes were staring into his. "Good Morning" He stated slowly as he stretched. He sat up in his bed and took the plate from Rosemary. "Thank you" He said calmly as she left.

He ate his breakfast quickly, going first through his perfectly golden pancakes, then his fluffy eggs. He loved how Rosemary made his breakfast, perfect every time. He stood up out of bed and shuffled to the mirror. Staring back at him was a tan, and smooth face. His brown eyes glared back at him and his caramel color hair seemed to be shimmering in the light. He locked his door and undressed quickly. He changed into his clothes and walked down the winding staircase. "Hello James" His mother adressed him quickly. "Hello" He said while continuing down the stairs.

Rosemary smiled and bowed after placing the tray on his morning breakfast table. "Good morning sir." She smiled and stepped back waiting for her orders. Rosemary was strictly Jame's maid, and her job was to always be within reach should he need anything.

When he finished his breakfast she took the tray and carried it downstairs, rushing it to the kitchen so she could return to her masters side. Spotting the lady of the house she bowed and kept her gaze on the floor. "Good morning m'Lady." She said in a cheery voice. Once greetings were out of the way Rosemary turned and continued to follow James.

"Is there anything i can get you Sir?" She asked with a bright smile. Rosemary enjoyed serving James. He was easily the nicest to her in the whole house.

James spun around and looked at Rosemary. "No, I don't think so, but thank you." He said while smiling. He continued walking through the house till he reached the door to the garden. He loved it there, it was so peaceful and quiet. He stepped outside enjoying the sunshine warming his face.

Rosemary nodded and followed the man anyway. It was her job and she would not be caught anywhere but at James's side. If she was found doing something other then her job she didn't even want to think of the consequences. She followed him into the garden, watching the plants and flowers. Her favorite part of the garden was the roses.

As they walked Rosemary spotted a few dead flowers and reached into apron for the clippers. She clipped the dead buds and tossed them into the dirt, to add nutrition to the soil. Rosemary did what she could to keep the garden as nice looking as she could. She often helped the gardeners in her free time.

James heard footsteps trailing behind him. He turned around to see Rosemarys smiling face. He saw her tend to the flowers then look over at the roses. Quickly, he cut off a rose and handed it to her. "Here," he said. "I love roses too.". He winked.

Rosemary turned slightly pink and accepted the rose with a smile. "Oh thank you." She grinned and held the rose close. "The roses are Beautiful this year. The gardener is doing a lot of work this year to keep everything nice." She smiled. and looked at the rose he had given her. She knew better then to look deeply into the action but her heard sped up either way.

"I've noticed," he stated. "someday maybe you could help me plant some more flowers. We could have our own private place." He winked again and with that he walked over to the fountain In the center of the garden.

Rosemary turned a brighter pink and smiled. "Perhaps we can go to the market and find some bulbs?" She smiled lightly walking with James. "What kind of flowers do you want to plant?" She smiled. She would have to ask the gardener to leave a plot empty for them to use.

He looked over at her and smiled. He couldn't help smiling when he talked to Rosemary. "sure" He continued, "How about we both pick out our favorite flower? I already know you love roses." He smirked.

She smiled lightly and nodded. "Roses are Beautiful. The orange and white ones are my favorite. They turn pink and white right before they die." She looked at the various roses. "What are your favorite?" She asked lightly snipping off a few dead rose buds again.

He looked at her and shrugged. "I've always had a thing for mums. They always seem to be in bloom". He looked around. It was almost noon, which meant it was almost lunch. "Rosemary, would you like to join me for lunch in town?"

Rosemary smiled and nodded. "That sounds wonderful Sir." She bowed her head to him. "what would you like to get? there is a lovely new meat pie shop in town i think." She tapped her lip thinking of the last time she had been sent to the market. "I hear good thing about the place." She smiled.

"How many times do I have to tell you to call me James!" he joked. "But the pie shop sounds wonderful, well leave as soon as you get dressed for town. I'll be downstairs waiting.". With that he smiled and walked back into the house. He could not remember the last time he and Rosemary went to town together.

Rosemary nodded and ran into the house. She went down to the servant quarters and smiled as she passed the cook. She went to her little dresser and pulled out a much nicer dress then her maid clothes. She dressed herself and let her hair down. She had no reason to leave it up if she wan't working. With a quick hug from the cook she ran out to meet James again.

She was now in a dark emerald dress, passed down from her mother. It was far nicer then most servants were considered to have. Rosemary's mother had saved most of her life to purchase the dress. She smiled when she spotted James and stood next to him. "Im ready sir...James." She paused and smiled.

He smiled and looked her up and down. "Wow," He stuttered. "You look beautiful." He gave her a wink and led her to the car. He put the keys in ignition and drove out the driveway.

Rosemary turned slightly pink and watched as they left the estate. It had been a while since she and James had gone to market together. It was nice to get away from being just a maid, even if only for an hour or so. She looked at James for a moment. "What do you want to do first?" She asked softly.

He smirked, 'Well I'm starving so let's go get some food. Any ideas?"

She nodded. "That pie shop sounds good. It's just up the road i think." She grinned. "let's go there?" she asked softly.

James turned to her and grinned. "Sounds good to me." He parked in the parking lot and opened the door for Rosemary. "Ladies First" He smiled.
