Outland Island ( )

Postby RockAlive on Wed Jul 16, 2008 10:29 am

"Ok. Move in."

The police officers burst into the warehouse, guns at the ready. The terrorist reached for their firearms, but the agents had the element of surprise to their advantage, and soon made waste to the terrorist.

The firefight was over. Four officers made their way to the center room, where the weapons the terrorist had been working on were supposedly stored. Instead of high-tech atillary, they found people in cages and bound by chains filling the room.

What could they have possibly been doing with these people?

They found out after the prisoners were sent to a lab to be tested. The terrorist had succeeded in twisting around the prisoner's DNA to create super-humans, ranging from fire-controllers and even vampires. Unsure of how dangerous the people were and who they were loyal to, the government left them on the island they were created on, coming every few months to provide clothing and food and medical checkups.

So the beings lived, facing many daily dangers.

The wood was peaceful as it seemed to sleep through the night until suddenly a figure shot through the trees. It was gone as quickly as it had appeared. An awakened bird blinked, searching for the culprit that distrubed his sleep. When this failed, he ruffled his feathers and drifted off again.

The figure had now reached the beach. It was a fox, but an unusual one. Its fur was dark as an inkwell, except for its white-socked legs and eeriee red eyes. Still, it was unusual in other ways. The fox stood on its hind legs and seemed to grow taller. Fur fell away to reveal a teenaged girl, about eighteen or nineteen, clothed in tattered attire. Her skin was tanned and her hair was ebony. The bloodchilling eyes remained the same.

Moon, as she named herself, stepped into the water. Her bare feet split the cool waves easily as she moved forward. She went in knee-deep before spreading her arms out and lifting her head up to the great milkly orb in the sky. She closed her eyes and prayed to any God that may or may not exist. She prayed for everything that came to her mind. She did this every night, sometimes for a few minutes and other times a few hours. Like every other night, she felt another's eyes on her. Not that it bothered her. Let them watch.

The water lifted itself onto the beach, the milky sand lightly shifting under him. He had been out here for some time, not exactly sure what the day was, or even the time, all he knew is he was stuck on an island. Sadly something was different about him his appearance was the same, but he could, he didn't even know how to explain it. It wasn't something seen every day, he could actually turn into a Dog, or wolf, whatever you called it, but maybe it was worth it, he could hunt after all. He just smiled and he laid there thinking about it, to himself. Finally before he knew it, he shrunk down into a slinder body.

His snout was large, and his fur was a dark black, wit a small hint of White. He layed there, his tail twitching, he was as good as a dog now, not that it mattered. Lightly he began trotting down, walking, his instincts kicking in. He kept running now, staring to his sides, watching the brush close to him, not knowing what was inside. He kept walking and stopped, it was, a girl. He was dead in his tracks, staring out, confused, he got down, not wanting to hurt her he watched, and softly walked closer...

Moon started when she heard a distrubance in the sand, interrupting her prayers. The water splashed as she turned around. Her eyes roved around the beach until she spotted - barely in the night - a black wolf. She settled somewhat. She knew the wolf, actually a boy, only by sight. He always seemed quiet and shy to her. She never knew him to approach her our any of the others. Moon wasn't sure if he was cruel and lack a conscience like some of her comrades, so she stayed on guard but, still, there was no reason to be rude.

"Hello," began Moon, cooking her head to the side and smiling sweetly. "Are you the one who always watches me?"

He stared, and just stepped back a little, before finally running towards the girl stopping next to her, he brushed his fur off her side and let out a sutte bark. He looked up sitting in front of her, kneeling down, softly pawing at her feet. He hadn't really came this close to her, but after awhile he somewhat saw she wasn't going to hurt him. He rolled around in the sand, onto his stomach, staring over at her, touching her leg. He let out a small pupish growl and just returned his gaze to her.

Moon smiled and knelt next to the wolf, stroking his gleaming fur. Her hands disappeared in his thick fur. He seemed nice enough. Shy, but kind. Moon morphed into her fox form and nudged the wolf playfully before running off a bit. She turned and growled scampishly at him, urging him to chase her. She figured he was too shy to talk right away, so this would be a better way to get him to open up. There were'nt many friendly beings around her age on the island.

The wolf stared and growled, kneeling down it started chasing her, moving quick after her. He kept moving, staying close on her tail. She seemed nice, and maybe he would get a friend from this, but for now he wouldn't let her get too far.

It was dark, and the moon shone across the water, occasionally covered by clouds.
Ella swam around in the lake slowly, not making a sound.
Her webbed feet and hands propelled her forward in the cool water.
She surfaced; taking in some air, which she only needed a little of; she was just about to dive in when she heard a patter of paws.

She looked around, straining her eyes to see whatever it was in the dark.
It was a black wolf and a fox.
She swam in one spot for a while; her dark blue eyes watching them, her head just above the water so she could see.

Black paws hit the ground lightly as Moon raced accross the sand, the wolf on her heels. She could run faster and longer than a normal fox, but so could he, and when she started to lose wind he was still fresh.

Moon twisted around quickly, hoping to catch him off-guard, and leaped at the wolf.

Superior stopped in his tracks, the Fox jumped at him and he found it all fun, and jumped on on her, very lightly puncing behind her. He then talked. "You should be faster..." Superior said, licking his paws. He just looked up turning his head to the side. "I'm Superior..." He said staring wide-eyed. He walked a little closer and just stared.

"No you're not-Oh, wait. You mean your name." Moon laughed. "I'm Moon." She sat down across from Superior. "Maybe you should be faster. You ever thought of that?" She shook her head. "Well, anyway, I wasn't built to be the fastest. I was built to be able to fight any opponent. You?

Re: Outland Island ( )

Postby Vyrwolf on Wed Jul 16, 2008 12:56 pm

The invisible spirit spotted the fox and the wolf playing, and decided to join in tonight. But a thought struck him: what would he be? This troubled the unimaginative one, who had the elements at his disposal but could never think of a form to utilize them. As he watched the two, he had an idea. He really liked how both of them looked, so maybe he should try it as well! With this idea in mind, he began to gather the elements around him, to form what he desired to become.

Near the two, a swirl of wind began, small at first, but growing larger. Dirt, grass, plants, dew, and twigs spun around in the mass, and eventually began to take shape...When it all finished, a creature that looked like some cross between the fox and the wolf stood before them, the features perfectly mixed, and the height and weight at the exact medium between the two original creatures. But the fox/wolf was made out of compacted dirt and twigs, with stones for eyes and a green coat made entirely of grass from head to tail, with wooden claws and the occasional dewy slobber coming out from the tongue made out of woven roots. It wagged its tail, and let out a small, playful bark, which also sounded like a mix between the two, before shyly going closer.

"...Hi," he said, not looking straight at them, as if a little abashed to be here, looking like this.

Ella floated in shock as she saw a swirl of wind as grass and plants and dirt swirled near the fox and the wolf.
She was even more shocked when it turned into a wolfish animal.
Ella swam a little closer to get a better view and heard it speak, but couldn't make out the words.

Moon blinked as the strange creature approached. She had never seen anything like it before. A shiver went down her fury spine. While it didn't seem to be there to harm them, she still didn't trust it. Something about it rubbed her the wrong way. Suddenly her mood changed from friendly to cold, as it always did when she felt threatened. She even felt somewhat cruel.

"And what are you?" the small fox sneered, her red eyes avoiding the stone orbs. Yes, the stone eyes. That's what make her so distrusting. "Superior! Don't go near it!"

Superior stared at Moon before turning back. He stepped backwards, curiously, not really afraid, since he never was, but he was still curious. Moon seemed a little scared, and he felt bad for her, and ran to her side, pawing softly at her, trying to make her feel happy.

He seemed to lighten up as he was greeted by the wolf, but the fox shot his hopes down. He recoiled, as if hit, and made a small whine, still in the mix between the two's voices. He tried to be brave, though, and looked at her to answer her question, if not stuttering every now and then.

"I...I...I really don't know...I can't remember..."

Maybe that was why he had to copy everyone. Because he didn't know how to be anything else. All he knew was how to make himself take a physical form, and nothing more. It wasn't even his fault that he used the stones for eyes...There weren't many alternatives, after all. They had to be big enough, so twigs and grass were out of the way, and they had to have some weight, so no leaves either.

Moon shook her head at Superior. "Don't you sense it. He's just not right." She felt like a hypocrite saying it, knowing none of them were really "right" either, but that creature was strange, even for Outland Island standards. She half-hid herself behind the larger wolf while simultaniously being ashamed of her cowardice. She glanced at the creature and growled.

"What do you want? Go away!" Moon shouted. All the stress triggered flashbacks from when she was a prisoner. The "preformance exercises" that were no more than pain endurance test.

She knew why she loathed this creature. It reminded her of what was wrong with them, especially of the dark side caged inside her - all the chaos and pain it would cause if it was released....She whipered softly and nuzzled against Superior, seeking comfort.

Superior nuzzled her back, lightly rubbing his head against hers. "Hey it's okay..." Trying to comfort her. He kept rubbing against her, feeling some warmth, and he felt like he had to protect her and just started to show his teeth and growl. Lightly he pulled back, turning his head.

Now he was taking steps back, whimpering pitifully. He couldn't understand why they were being so mean to him! He just wanted to play, and talk to someone for once...Were they angry about him taking their forms? Maybe that was it! He tried hard to think of something different, to take a new form so they wouldn't hate him so much...But he just COULDN'T. His mind was blank, and all he had to work with were those two. Ostrazised, he started to turn away from the pair, but looked back over his shoulder, dewdrop tears running down from the now wet stones.

"Why are you being so mean?" He asked, before turning away. He felt like running, but didn't know where to go. All he knew was that those to were there, and it was scary anywhere else. But it was also scary with them! He couldn't decide which was worse, and began to hiccup, obviously his version of sobbing.
