Weather: Sunny. Partly Cloudy. 46 degrees Fahrenheit
It was beautiful outside. Spring was definitely coming. The birds had begun to chirp, squirrels played "King of the Hill" along power lines, the breeze blew the now growing leaves of trees, finally covering the naked bark after a cold winter. It was the perfect day. Though, as Riku sat in his class, staring out the window, the Spring afternoon was the last thing on his mind. What he was concerned about was what he had experienced last night...
He exited the arcade, removing his phone from his pocket. 11:56 p.m. Shit, his mom was going to kill him. He was supposed to be home an hour ago, but he had become so caught up playing games that he completely forgot about it. He sighed, placing his phone back in his pocket and jogging towards his car. He was screwed and he knew it. Hopefully, he could talk his way out of it like he usually did. He opened the door to his car, turned the key in the ignition, and the engine roared to life. It was a nice car. A pure black 2012 Mitsubishi Eclipse. It was his birthday present when he had turned 18 five months ago. He looked as a couple walked past his car, holding hands. He bent down in the car, looking down at the iPod docked on the console and flipping through his library via the small device's touch screen. He found what he wanted after a while; a band called Deluhi. One of his favorites. The metal began to fill his car, the muffled double bass drum being audible even outside the car. As he sat back up straight, his eyes widened.
Where the couple had stood moments ago now stood two coffins. He quickly jumped out of his car to investigate, pausing his music and removing the keys. The sky around him had turned a deep emerald green, the clouds turning black. What the hell was going on? Was this a nightmare? Though, this was the least terrifying thing that happened. No, he had yet to see the full extent. He turned to his left, looking at the arcade to see a large tower looming over the city. He stumbled backwards, tripping over himself and landing on the ground. What was happening. He stood back up, quickly jumping into his car. It felt like ten minutes had passed, but the clock still read 12:00 a.m. Though, the unexplainable phenomenon did not end there. In the rear view mirror, he saw his own reflection. His eyes glowed an intense red and, what were those on his back? Wings?
He shook his head, jumping out of the car. He was an avid fan of horror movies, so he began to treat this like one, him starring as the main character. He sighed, looking around him. All he could really do was investigate this odd tower in front of him. He approached it, cautiously opening the doors. Inside, the place looked like a mansion. The floors were pure black marble tile with a burgundy carpet leading straight from the door to the only thing in the room: A large black marble staircase leading up into a black abyss. He gulped, praying that the red eyes and wings would mean that he had been granted some sort of power. Managing to suppress his fear, he placed one foot on the steps, slowly climbing.
The room upstairs was quite dark, though he could still see. It looked like a labyrinth. Off in the distance, he heard an odd wiggling noise. What was it? It sounded like a slurping sound, sort of like lips smacking. He leaned forward, attempting to see through the dark better. A dark figure lurched into view, looking like an amorphous blob of shadow. Though, when it got close enough to him to see, his eyes widened. It was, unmistakeably, a ghost from Pac Man. Though, the thing had a demon-like face. Large jaws revealed menacing teeth dripping with saliva as the thing breathed in a raspy manner. He panicked, falling backwards once again, his hand bumping into something. He looked down on the ground to see two handguns sitting right next to him. Somehow, he knew what to do.
"Persona." He whispered, bringing one of the guns to his chin, pulling the trigger. A large and demonic creature appeared in front of him. Though, he knew that this creature wouldn't harm him. He wasn't afraid. The creature felt like...a part of him. The thing chuckled, holding out its arm. A column of ice rose around the Pac Man ghost, freezing it. As the creature before him closed its hand, the column shattered, shattering the ghost with it. It turned, looked back at Riku, and smiled before disappearing.
The bell rang, snapping him from his daydream. He grabbed his messenger bag, slung it over him, and exited the class, heading to hang out at the park which was right next to the school. He needed a bit more time to reflect before he did anything, though he'd definitely be hitting the library later. He removed his iPod from his back, placing the earbuds in his ears and turning on the same music he had that night, making the memories that much more vivid.
