Samantha only narrowed her eyes even more. "So you actually think I'm just going to let you take me, go quietly?" she let out one mirthless laugh, "I'll have you know that there is no way I will let you get away with this. This is not my life, and so help me God if you do not return me to port this instant-"
She was cut off as the captain pushed her into the open, salty air of the upper deck, the cutting words disappearing on her lips. Dealing with the rocking of the boat on water, a constant reminder of where she was, was one thing when she was below the deck and guarded by blissfully solid walls. But the upper deck, with nothing but a small railing that hardly reached her upper arm standing between her and the merciless waves below...that was a whole other story.
Determined to show no weakness, however, Sam sealed her lips into a tight line, and jutted her chin up, half in defiance and half so she wouldn't have to see the dark, foaming water around her. The captain gave her a little introduction, though she could hardly call it that, seeing as she was being forced out her against her own will. The cheery smile that adorned the man's feature made the whole matter all the more infuriating, as he seemed to believe that she didn't at all mind being kidnapped by pirates.
Stiffly, she turned her gaze to the first gentleman that the captain had addressed, and was mildly surprised to find that he looked only a little older than her. Even more shocking was the fact that, upon looking around, her eyes fell upon a girl no older than 11. The youth looked up at her with a slightly giddy curiosity, and Sam wasn’t quite sure whether she should smile or look offended.
She turned her attention to an older man, one who at least looked tough enough to be on a pirate ship. His features, Sam assumed, would probably appear intimidating to most, but she actually found them more interesting than frightening. Much unlike most of his crewmates, he held a rather welcoming expression, and most certainly didn’t look like he was about to toss her overboard.
Well. This was unexpected.
Tentatively, Sam allowed her lips to curve up into a small smile directed at the man. Inside, her mind was reeling. All ships had to stop some places, right? So, the next time the ship stopped, all she had to do was sneak off and contact her father. Obviously the task was easier planned than done, but she tried not to think about that. And until they reached a port…although it pained her to realize it, Sam was pretty sure it was in her best interests to try and not set off the crew, captain in particular. Didn’t want them to realize she was going to be more a burden than treasure any sooner than necessary.
With a pained exhale, she looked up at the younger male-Aiden? Yes, that was the captain had called him, Aiden-who had appeared by her side, still an appropriate distance away. Forcing herself to meet his mischievous, glinting blue eyes, she gingerly took his arm, with a resignedly mumbled, “Alright, then.”
[I’m so terribly sorry it’s taken me so long to post! I couldn’t find the thread for a while, so I thought it kind of ended, but then Walrus posted in the OOC thread this morning, and I found it, and…I’m sorry!]
