Pokémon: The Legend Hunters (Sign-Ups/OOC) ( )

Postby Makokam on Wed Jan 20, 2010 3:58 pm

-Story-

Team Omega. They chose this name because they will be the last.

Having seen the failures of the organizations that preceeded them, they have taken steps to ensure that they will not fall the same way.

Their pokémon have been implanted with a control chip that inhibits all sense of morality, allowing them to attack anyone or anything at any time with fatal power. They are no longer teamates or partners, they are weapons.

Team Omegas plans are not so simple to end with mere weaponized pokémon, no. They seek the legendary pokémon. Pokémon who are forces of nature. Pokémon who are so strong as to be uncatchable, leaving only an Essence behined.

For those trainers who have an Essence, in times of great need, they can use it to call that legendary pokémon to their aid.

Team Omega seeks to posses every essence that exists in this world, believing that if they control all the essences of a Legendary, that they will be able to control the pokémon itself, allowing them to take over the world with an army of God-like pokémon.

But to do that, they will need, every, single, essence.

A new tournament ground has recently opened, the largest of its kind, and the owner has invited all trainers from all regions, who are at least thirteen years old and have participated in a pokemon league tournament, to participate in a grand opening tournament. Team Omega recognizes that this is a perfect oportunity to retrieve the remaining essences.

"Good and Evil" is too complicated. I prefer, "Us and Them".

Postby Makokam on Wed Jan 20, 2010 4:27 pm

-Your Role-

You will be playing as one of the invities to the tournament, as well as one of the holders of a Legendary Essence.

-Your Goal-

To protect your essence from Team Omega, stop their plans for world domination, and maybe win the tournament.

-The Rules-

Play fair. (If you don't know what this means, don't sign up)
Player vs Player(PvP) tournament battles will take place in their own thread.
Player vs NPC tournament battles will be completed in one post, in the main thread.
Each pokemon may know every move they would learn by leveling up in addition to any HMs they can learn and four TM/Move Tuture/etc. taught moves.
HM moves are context sensitive. (Dig can only be used on dirt, Fly in open air, Surf on water, etc)
-No pokemon bios(because appearently I need to say this)
-No Gym Leaders (Ex-Leaders are fine
-Each trainer must have one, and only one, legendary essence.
-Mewtwo is not available

*A note on Essences*
An Essence is a mystical object that represents a Legendary pokemon. They can be used to call the legendary it represents, but that is all it can do. Call them. Whether or not it appears depends on three things; Distance, Purpous, and Consent.
Meaning how far apart you are, what you are calling it for, and if the pokemon will consent to come at all. Keep this in mind.
It is up to you what your essence looks like, though I would like you to follow the examples I've given.

Love the idea.

Height - 5'4
Weight - 129
H. Color- pink
E. Color- green
Pokemon:
Eevee AKA Edward

Brief History: Magenta, Mage as she is often called, was born to both her parents and a loving older brother. Her brother was always nice to her, and when he was home, let her play with his pokemon. She grew up, waiting for her time to get out of the house. For her 14th birthday, her brother brought home a present for her. An Eevee, who she named Edward. For the last two years, she has trained, bonded, and trained some more. Now, she is out of the house and heading to a tournament, determined to win. She has already won 8 badges and competed in the League, which she won.

Yeah... I wanted to get this up before I went to work...but writting the story took longer than expected, and... I kinda rushed the second two sections... and I didn't realize until after work that I had forget some rather important information. My bad. Don't hurt me. >_<

I'll edit the relevant info into the posts so be sure to check them again.

As for legendary requests, Suicune is fine, as for Mew, I was planning to make him/her a plot point, so if I can figure out ... oh to hell with it. Yes you can have Mew.

BE SURE TO READ MY EDITS! They'll be important.

You can each have the legendary pokemon of your choice, represented by an essence. Dialgas essence, for example, would be "Diamond Shard" there are other examples in the edited posts.

I hope that I covered everything because I'm tired and doing this is hard when you don't have a working computer. >_< -sigh- It's good enough I guess.

Oh, and yes, you only have the essence, as the idea is that there is only one of each Legendary. Now go write up a profile because I won't hold them forever.

Name: Travis Darrell Mura
Age: 44
Gender: Male
Hometown: Born in Pallet Town. Lives there and on an island outside Vermillion City.
Appearance:
Travis stands at a towering height of 6'10'' towering over all people he knows. He weighs in at about 180 and is normal in appearance, meaning he is not buff or fat or too skinny. His hair, is black, and messy. He used to keep it short, and still gives it an occasional trim, but it usually just grows around his head. His eyes are a very dark blue in color. He has no facial hair, and mostly shaves it off when it grows on him. On his head, he usually wears a bandanna or sweat band. He sometimes wears aviators but most of the time is known to have them off.
His pants are baggy black cargo pants that zip off at the knee to form shorts in hot weather. He wears a black leather belt. His tennis shoes are dark blue Nike, and his socks are wool navy blue. On his torso, he will usually have a tee shirt with a Metallica symbol or Pantera symbol. At other times it's just plain black or dark blue. Over that shirt is a black vest which hold many of his personal belongings. It holds his cell phone, iPod, matches, just normal stuff. He also carries a backpack that is black with him containing more things like clothes, a sleeping bag, food, and other equipment. He is very prepared on these journeys.
Around his neck is a necklace. It's black leather string, and dangling, is a moon stone. It means the world to him as it is his only possession he has left of his mother. It was given to her by his father the day they were married.

Personality:
Travis is very mysterious. He hates talking about his past, he tries his best to stay out of the public eye, and has a deep respect for each trainer who has fought him. He also cares and loves each and every one of his pokemon very deeply. Trying to separate him from one of them is a very bad idea. Having been a wanderer of the pokemon world for a very long time, Travis has learned to keep a very low profile. His success in all regions has been seen in the world and he has trainers request battle. These are trainers who are not ready, and Travis does not enjoy battling trainers who are not ready. Travis has a gift to know whether a certain trainer is ready to face him or not. He also can tell one's emotions and how they feel. He's not a telepath, but he can read emotions like a book.
Once a wanderer of the world, he knows how to live, good advice, and which pokemon live where. He doesn't own many, in fact he hasn't captured a pokemon in almost 30 years. He sticks with his team of about 17, and trains them all to be very brutal in battle.
Travis is a very hard person to make upset. He does not like getting insulted, but when insulted he most of the time just smiles blankly as if to say "that all?" or will just walk away. However if he is upset, he can be one guy you don't want around. His mood darkens greatly, he lashes in anger, and may walk off alone. He hates these moods and his team doesn't like to see him that way. However over the years, he has learned to tame these moods and has not had one for a very long time. He feels them, but will usually strike them down.
Despite this very serious looking attitude, Travis is one of the most respectable persons around. He helps when help is needed, he comforts those who need comfort, he's one of those guys that look rather unpleasant at times, yet are one of the kindest guys around. Travis may not like the public eye, but he likes company. Travis, has always had a huge passion and love for heavy Metal music, especially Metallica.

Bio:
The past of Travis is not the past he enjoys looking back on all the time. His parents have been dead a long time now. His father left the family when he was 11 to become a trainer. He was killed in the Rock Tunnel outside of Lavender Town. His mother was killed four years later in an accident. After his mother died, Travis went to live with his grandparents, who raised him like a son. Travis knew them as the nicest people anyone could want as family. Travis became a trainer at the age of 17, though most became trainers when they reached 10.
After he became a trainer, he began the journey he would love the rest of his life. He rarely caught anything but it didn't matter to him. He didn't always try to catch pokemon. with his team, he quickly became the subject of some major trainer gossip, and he began receiving a lot of trainer challenges. He became a wanderer after his victory in Viridian City. He never challenged another gym leader, and has never challenged the pokemon league. He doesn't plan to.
His grandparents are now sadly gone as well, his grandfather passed shortly after Travis left to become a trainer. He was 76. His grandmother lived 17 more years after his grandfather died, and died at the age of 91.
Travis was gym leader of his own gym for a very long time, and still is, but was called up to lead the pokemon league in Kanto a few years back. He lead the Kanto pokemon league for 4 years before stepping back down as a gym leader and that is what he is today. Travis is one of the most feared trainers in all four regions, however he is mostly known in areas of Jhoto and Kanto. Very few trainers in Kanto don't know the name Travis Mura. He is also one of Team Rocket's greatest threats, as he has never had a love for them or any pokemon gang. He has fought off every gang known to the regions (except this Omega), and is also famous for helping in the stopping of a team known as the Purifists. (reference to an earlier RP he took part in)

Despite this great fame, there is one problem entering Travis' system now. His old age. Travis is now on the verge of finally retiring from battle forever. But he is still unaware of the current plans at the moment so he continues his business as a gym leader outside Vermillion City, along with one of his greatest friends, a trainer named Ritchie.

MAIN TEAM
Travis specializes in no particular element of pokemon. His pokemon team is unique and powerful. He also didn't use TMs, he taught the moves ,but his taugtht moves were based on TM moves.

Squirtle (Gill):
At the age of 17, Travis recieved Gill, his first pokemon. Gill has been with Travis ever since. Gill is undoubtedly Travis' most powerful pokemon, and a huge challenge for trainers today. His power in his attacks is not that of any normal Squirtle, and his defense is even better. Travis, through tough training has trained Gill to withstand electric attacks, and Gill has been known to beat very powerful electric pokemon since then. Despite this huge power/defense level, Gill has yet to evolve. Travis actually likes Gill the way he is, he doesn't want Gill to evolve, and Gill doesn't seem to want to evolve either. Gill doesn't like being kept in a pokeball and walks with Travis or sits on Travis' shoulder. The two have been together for almost 30 years. He is usually the last choice Travis uses in battle, because of his power.
TM Moves: Focus Punch, Dig, Endure, Rock Tomb

Raichu (St. Anger):
St. Anger was the first pokemon Travis caught. He was caught as a Pikachu in the Viridian forest after he attacked Travis and Gill. After his capture, he would arguably be the biggest challenge to train. The Pikachu was hard to communicate with, and would often attack Travis. But through tough bonding, Travis finally gained the respect from him, and the trust. St. Anger chose to evolve and become even more powerful. Travis has gained the full trust from him, and has trained him his most of his trainer life. He is Travis' fastest pokemon, and his electric are stronger then most Raichu, St. Anger one of Travis' favorite choices in battle.
TM Moves: Iron Tail, Thunderpunch, Mega Punch, Mega Kick

Alakazam (Sanitarium):
Travis caught an Abra after his victory in Cerulean. Sanitarium quickly evolved afterwards into Kadabra. Travis trained him very hard. It wasn't until after he became a wanderer until he finally evolved into Alakazam. Sanitarium is another one of the biggest challenges in battle. His psychic powers are fasinating, but his defense is nothing short of phenomenal. His light screen and barrier defenses are one of the toughest things opponents have to penetrate in order to attack Sanitarium. Travis sometimes chooses to start off with Sanitarium in battle mostly because of his defense.
TM Moves: Protect (light screen but extremely tougher), Shadow Ball, Hyper Beam, Shock Wave

Tyranitaur (Damageplan):
After his 18th birthday, Travis decided to spend a day with his team on an island outside Cinnibar to find a Larvitar. It was the rarest pokemon of the island. Travis found one, but it ran off. Travis tracked it down and finally found it unconscious. It had fallen into the river and nearly drowned. Travis took i in and camped out for the night. Larvitar regained consciousness that night. Travis fed him, and warmed him by the fire. Larvitar was also rather weak then, as he had a natural weakness to water. Travis nursed him to health over night. Travis offered to return him to where he was, but Larvitar chose to stay with Travis and his team as a thanks. He was given the name Damageplan. It took a very long time to fully evolve him, but the time paid off. Damageplan is very strong physically, and his armor is almost as good as Sanitarium's defenses, maybe even better. He and Gill are very hard to compare as far as power goes. Travis does not always call on him in battle because of one little slip. Travis has tamed this slip, but Damageplan is still a bit unpredictable. This slip is Damageplan's territorial behavior. Damageplan is Travis' most territorial pokemon. He gets along with Travis, and his team, but that's about it. He shows very little mercy to opponents in battle, and if he feels like Travis is in danger, he may even attack humans. Travis is well aware of this, but thankfully, if he is stern enough, he can calm Damageplan very quickly before any harm is done.
TM Moves: Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Thunder, Endure
Pidgeot (Aerials):
This pokemon was caught by his grandfather after Travis left to become a trainer. The Pidgeot had injured itself in the backyard of his grandparents house, and his grandparents helped it recover. To show it's thanks, it stayed with Travis' grandfather. However, about two weeks later, his grandfather went into cardiac arrest and died. The pidgeot was passed down to Travis, as his grandfather requested before he died. Travis holds this pokemon very close to his heart because it was the only pokemon his grandfather had owned. Aerials is a very fast flyer like all pidgeots, but is larger than most. He can carry up to 3 other trainers on a non-stop trip. Though rarely called upon in battle, he can present a good challenge to trainers. His gust attacks can reach almost tornado-like winds.
TM Moves: Aerial Ace, Steel Wing, Fly, Giga Impact

Turtwig (Orion):
This is Travis' most recent capture. The turtwig was wild, and challenged Travis as he relaxed near the Sinnoh/Hoeen border. The turtwig showed some amazing strength, and some cunning strategy. But in the end, Gill won in a one-on-one with it. ravis knelt to the fallen Turtwig and offered to make it stronger. Turtwig accepted almost immediatly. Travis has taught him well, and is another favorite of Travis in battle. It has a strong will to win and does not like losing. However despite this attitude, he is also one of the most playful pokemon Travis owns. He loves paling around with Gill, St. Anger, and even young kids when Travis stops to relax at a beach or other populated area.
TM Moves: Solarbeam, Protect, Iron Tail, Rock Smash

Other Pokemon Travis Owns
(Bios and personality will be given if Travis uses them in the RP)
Aggron (Davidien) - Caught as an Aron in Hoeen after a Team Rocket grunt attacked it
Bulbasaur (Solar) - Given to Travis by an elderly woman who had a Venasaur.
Charmander (Pyro) - Given to Travis by another Trainer.
Garydos (Floods) - Caught near Vermillion City after it attacked Travis,
Golem (Mechanix) - Caught as a Graveller in a cave near Cerulean.
Heracross (Battery) - Caught in a forest in Jhoto.
Machamp (Engel) - Abandoned by a Rocket Grunt, who abused it non-stop.
Magmar (Hollow) - Caught inside the Cinnibar island volcano.
Steelix (Trendkill) - Caught as an Onix in the Rock Tunnel.
Sandslash (Whiplash) - Caught as a Sandshrew in Kanto.
Scyther (Unforgiven) - Caught within the Safari zone.

Essences:
Travis does not believe catching legendaries are right. He has however befriended the two pokemon Latios and Latias.

Hope this is cool!

Pokemon: (None of them have nicknames. Oh, and as a note, Alex doesn't know the gender of his pokemon, so I'll just roll a die IRL to decide if they're boy or girl when battle time comes XD I won't do it during the battle, but before, so yeah... XD)

Espeon: Move Set: (No HM Moves) TM Moves: Protect, Shadow Ball, Substitute, Signal Beam (Move Tutor move XD)

Empoleon: Move Set: (No HM Moves) TM Moves: Ice Beam, Earthquake, Flash Cannon, Hydro Cannon.

Weavile: Move Set: (No HM Moves) TM Moves: Focus Blast, Poison Jab, Shadow Ball, Crush Claw.

Spirtomb: Move Set: (Can't Learn HM Moves XD) TM Moves: Water Pulse, Shock Wave, Hyper Beam, Will-o-Wisp.

Legendary Essence: Multi-Plate (Summons Arceus IF Arceus choses to come)

Brief History: Alex was born in the Sinnoh region, and got his first pokemon, an Eevee there as well. He traveled everywhere in the region, getting new pokemon and new partners to fight along side him. After a few years of traveling in his home region, he began to get board of the same thing over and over again, and set his sights higher, going to far off lands such as Kanto, Johto, Orange Islands, you name it, he was there. He faced every Gym and won them all, but could never seem to place very high in the Pokemon League itself. Always coming up two or three rounds short of the finals. As he was beginning to wonder if there was anything he could do to show the world he really was a good trainer, not just one of those people that are somehow able to get all the badges then fail in the League, he got a message saying that he was invited to an amazing event that was being held in a new stadium. Being a man that could never back down from a challenge, and seeing as this was the perfect opprotunity to show the world what he was made of, he got the first boat right to the stadium and was ready for his first battle the day he got there.

Re: Pokémon: The Legend Hunters (Sign-Ups/OOC) ( )

Postby Makokam on Thu Jan 21, 2010 12:14 pm

SamuraiMaster, can I call you Sam? I'm sorely tempted to reject your profile out of pure spite for making me read all that. I asked for a brief history and 75% of that was nothing but history. History I didn't ask for, and didn't want. Hell, you even crammed in a personality section! It's great that you thought it through that much, really, it is, but neither I or the other players have any need for for even half of all that.
So instead of rejecting you, I'm just going to list the problems, largest first, and let you fix them or leave.

-You need an essence. One essence, from one legendary. Meaning no Latios AND Latias. It's the key point to this plot.

-Too many, if not all, of your pokemon are listed as being super strong for their species. Bullshit. Don't make slap the dreaded M-word on you.

-I asked for a team of six. Remove the rest. They're unnessecary and potentially confusing.

-Remove the personality section(we'll know what he's like by talking to him), remove the pokemon bios(there is really no need for this), and shorten your trainer History.

-No to being a gym leader. Ex-leader, fine, if you must. But not current. You'd have better things to do otherwise.

-180lbs is a normal weight for someone who is 5' 10", not 6' 10". At that height and weight you're just skin and bones.(Yes, this is nit picky, but what you listed makes you emaciated.)

Oh. I do really like the nicknames you came up with. Very nice. ^_^

Now, Cloud, if you don't know after reading that to get rid of the pokemon bios... get rid of the pokemon bios.

Emoneko, your profile is promising so far, just add five more pokemon(You're really not going to get far with just one, lol), your legendary essence and tweak your history to match the tourny requirements.

Rasche: Good. You just need your essence.

Again, make sure you've read the edited rules( Which I now need to edit again >_<) and character skelton and adjust your profile accordingly.

Postby Makokam on Thu Jan 21, 2010 3:03 pm

I wanted to edit this into my previous post but I hit mt text limit.

I did a little research on Arceus and yes, Cloud, you can have him.

HOWEVER!

While reading about Arceus, I realized that this was a not the type of pokemon that would come running when called, so I wanted to make sure everyone understands how the essences work.

The essences call to the legendary pokemon it represents. The call becomes weaker across distance, time, and dimensions. It also carries the purpose of the call, be it, "Help me! I'm gonna die!" or "Waste this asshole!". The Purpose as well as the pokemons personality determine the final factor, Consent. No matter where it is, or what you want it for, it still has to consent to come. Some trainers may have an essence but never have a Legendary come to them.

This is why Team Omega is collecting the Essences.

They believe that by posessing all the Essences a Legendary Pokémon has left behined, that they can force it to do their bidding.

As an added note, Team Omega has several essences for each legendary. In fact, the ones you players posess may be the only ones they don't have. What are they doing with them? They're making clothes, necklesses, hats, vests, coats, whatever seems appropriate, out of them for the summoner to wear.

Well, if SamuraiMaster is out or has to change, I have a pair of twins that I wanted to have with Latios and Latias. Is that OK, or can I only have one character?

EDIT: Also, if I have two characters, can they compete as a team? (Like in the games, you occasionally run across pairs of trainers?) If so, can they both have essences, or just one? And is the legendary they have the essence of supposed to be part of the team, or not?

EDIT (again): If we get eliminated from the tournament, do we stay in the RP? I'm going to guess that battling will be based more on the games than on the anime.

Postby Cloud557 on Thu Jan 21, 2010 7:09 pm

Okay, I've made the edits your asked, and I hadn't seen your post until just a moment ago because I was sleeping. But, changes have been made. Now, I just have a question real fast so I get rid of one part of the post. You said, that, in the first post "Each pokemon may know every move they would learn by leveling up in addition to any HMs they can learn and four TM/Move Tuture/etc. taught moves." I would assume that the move tutor part, also includes the elemental hyper beams, which now I will change one of my questions. When it comes to the all moves part though, does that mean, that during battles against other players, I should be able to use say... The TM moves that I listed for Empoleon, and seeing as there are four of them right there, also be able to use any of the moves it can learn through leveling up? And to go into more detail, where do egg moves stand on the can learn thing? Can they be used as if normal moves from level up, or would we have to make a special list or add them to the TM list and such?
