Matthew, finding the commotion rather annoying, stood up from his chair in the kitchen. He hadn't moved from that spot in several hours, which probably made most people forget about him. Matthew walked upstairs, and moments later came downstairs with a struggling Mike held by the back of his collar in the right hand. As he opened the door and walked outside with the child, he dropped him flat on the cement ground.
After closing the door, Matthew took a cigarette fom his pocket and lit it, tossing the rest of his pack over to Mike. As he guarded the entrance to the doorway, he continued to smoke, waiting for Mike to do the same.
Matthew may not have made the most responsible choice as a "parent," but it showed he at least was alive enough to see the problems in the foster home.

Last time I checked, we determined that you're getting a box of chocolates.
