Xaven was very intrigued. Someone wanted Skywalker killed? Heh, fat chance of anyone taking that job. Then again, they couldn't have known that Xaven was overhearing, "Skywalker? As in Jedi Master Skywalker?" Xaven asked, spinning around in his chair. He saw a black cloaked man, speaking to a Bothan. Black cloak... Sith, perhaps? Xaven knew first hand that the Sith were still out there, but couldn't be sure if the cloaked man was one or not. After all, black cloaks were common among those who desired to keep their identity a secret, plus Xaven couldn't sense any Force power. Of course, a real Sith would obviously hide his presence in the Force. The man seemed to glance up at Xaven.
"Yes... that Skywalker. Interested?" he said in a hushed tone. Xaven moved to sit at the table, "If you think you're capable of killing him, you're welcome to take the job and try." the man practically whispered.
"What exactly does this job pay?" Xaven asked, cutting to the chase. He was surprised at the answer.
"Anything you desire."
"Anything?" Xaven asked, intrigued. He could use a new ship, he had to admit. He considered and said, "I want a new ship, decent sized, but capable of combat. And a private dojo for me to train in, I'll let you know what planet to put it on when I decide."
The man smiled. A smile that Xaven had seen before. It was the cruel smile of a Sith, "Done." he said coldly. So this guy was one of them, probably wanted to topple the Jedi Order or avenge the Emporer or some damn thing. Xaven didn't care.
"I want the ship up front, otherwise I can't leave this stinkhole of a planet." Xaven said, eager to get off this rock, "You can give me my dojo after the job is done.'
"Of course, Xaven." replied the Sith.
"How do you know my name?" Xaven demanded, trying to sound as clueless as possible. It was obvious that the Force had something to do with it, he had sensed that.
"You introduced yourself when you first spoke up, remember?" he replied, obviously trying do the old Mind Trick.
"Right... I remember now." Xaven lied, deciding to humor the old man and hide his own abilities.
"Go to docking bay 216 in 24 hours. Your ship will be waiting for you there." the man replied then got up and left.
"Can they really get me a ship in one day?" Xaven asked himself as he returned to the hovle he was staying in. Of course they could. The Sith could obtain anything they wanted, by any means if necessary.
So the Sith want Skywalker dead. That was no surprise. The Sith had worked hard to destroy the Jedi and Skywalker pretty much made all that effort worthless by reviving the Jedi Order.
"Hmm... so once again I let myself get sucked into the Their schemes..." he said to himself. Oh well, this time, it was going to pay off... right?
