Set 100 years after Zordon's death, the good will placed over the universe from his energy has begun to wane against outside negative forces. With the help of Alpha, Billy's great-grandson Dr. Michael Cranston is able to find out who this new threat is... The NegaBots! Creatures that are part living being, part machine. Their soul purpose is to extract the necessary materials from the core of each planet in the galaxy in order to create more of their kind and to feed their leader, King Askel.

The only way for them to stop the NegaBots is to use a form of energy that is faster than the speed of light to meet the challenges of space travel. Through science alone, it is almost impossible with the technology they have... Alpha and Michael have no other choice. Summoning the assistance of Dimitria and the reformed Divatox, Alpha and Michael are able to create a light energy that has been infused with both science and magic to create what they have determined to be: Super Spectrum.

The light is then dismantled into seven separate color waves in order for it to be used by certain human beings. The call now begins to go out, looking for those special fighters willing to go above and beyond their natural limitations and save the galaxy from danger. Caution must be used though, as this power is beyond anything the world has seen, and if it should fall into the wrong hands, it could mean the end of existence...

==========================================

The sun was beating down unusually harsh as Geoff cruised in his jeep towards an unknown location. It had been a long time since anyone had put out a call for his help, but perhaps it was time to try something different. The gravel and dirt beneath his tires assured that this ride would only be a reminder of the dangerous possibilities that awaited him at the end of this drive. From what he could get from the message, they needed help with some sort of experiment for inter-stellar travel. They didn't mention much of anything else, but the "death annulment" clause faxed for him to sign meant that there was the distinct possibility it could get really messy if he wasn't careful.

The road began to veer to the right, causing the mountains to drop off and begin to reveal a large funky looking base. It looked like a large smoke stack sat as the foundation of the structure while the building arched in a curve outward from the stack and then had wings attached at the ends. It looked like something familiar, something like this...

Image

Geoff could only guess what could be going on behind those walls, but continued along the road anyways. There was no action in being a coward. Finally, he pulled up to the building and put his car into park. Though he didn't get out right away, he took a moment to let everything sink in. This whole experience was beginning to get too strange even for him to grasp. Another nagging notion, was the fact that there were no other cars there. Didn't the guy say something about this being a team mission?

He let out a deep breath before turning off the ignition and getting out. He took a few steps towards the building, but backtracked and leaned against the hood of his jeep instead. It would be best to wait for backup, if any, than to go into this weird building alone and unguarded...

As Lexie drove, she tried to think about the chain of events that had led to her getting into her silver convertable and driving to a place she had never heard of. It started with a phonecall, a man's voice telling her that she had been selected to join an elite team on a top secret mission. At first Lexie laughed and hung up, thinking it had to be a prank. Then the letter appeared (somehow in her apartment) with the directions and a picture of the location she was to go to. The letter was ignored as well. When she received a second phone call, Lexie's curiosity got the best of her.

So here she was, following a strangers directions into the middle of no where. As she drove, she couldn't help but wonder what made her so special. She had spent the majority of her life in the background, so why had she suddenly been brought into the spotlight? It had to be a joke, a prank. A game her friends were playing... some sort of Mission Impossible scavenger hunt.

When Lexie's tires hit the dirt, it was clear they were not meant to go offroading. Luckily, she considered herself and excellent driver... with stunt driver dreams and asperations. As she approached the strange tan building, she could see a jeep with a boy leaning against it. Now he was smart, driving a jeep into the desert. She made a mental note not to take her precious convertable out here again.

As she stopped her car a few feet from the jeep and removed her sunglasses from her gray eyes, it hit her. She didn't recognize the boy leaning against the jeep. Now she was confused, and more than a little nervous. Turning off her car, she got out, shoving her keys into her jeans pocket as she walked.

"Hi," she called out as she approached the stranger. "Please tell me you know what's going on here."

((Sorry, I couldn't help but giggle when I saw the Fox Kids logo in the corner of that picture... :D)

For the first time in a very long time, Ryo Yomotashi had been called up into his father's top-level office. Rarely did the old man want to speak with his son, let alone on his own turf. This was a momentous occasion, but one that Ryo had almost passed up. It wasn't like he had anything to say to his father, anyway. But, in the end, he figured that it would probably be something important. Heck, maybe the old geezer was buying the farm and wanted to leave Ryo a fortune or two.

He rode his deep blue Suzuki GSX1300R down into the parking garage, where he was immediately admitted through the security gate and given a small card that indicated where he should park. Of course, as soon as Ryo was just out of the guard's sight, he chucked the card away and stopped the bike in a spot next to the elevator. It wasn't the most dramatac act of defiance he had ever commited.

Ryo stepped into the elevator and hit the button for the second-to-top floor. You had to talk to one of the secretaries and use a private elevator to go up to the last level. Just an extra precaution. The small box was pretty fast, shooting up like a bullet through the building. It wasn't one of those fancy elevators where the wall was glass and you could see outside--it was just a plain, boring lift. It stopped a little under half-way for someone else to get on. Someone who apparently knew Ryo, because the little man offered to shake his hand. Absent-mindedly, Ryo accepted the gesture. The next stop was Ryo's floor.

This part of the building was remarkably sparse. There weren't many people wandering around. Ryo had barely taken four steps out of the elevator before he was approached by a tall, blonde woman. She was probably one of the secretaries. Fit the visual profile perfectly.

"Mr. Yomotashi, please follow me," the woman said with a slight smile.

"Yes, ma'am," Ryo replied with a half-grin. She was pretty good-looking, for a corporate type.

The woman led Ryo through some corridors to a small elevator. Once they were inside, she slid a card through a reader, and then the doors closed and the elevator brought them up.

On the other side of the top floor, the secretary pushed open the enormous oaken door and allowed Ryo to enter before shutting it firmly and returning downstairs. Ryo paced the office. His father sat in a chair behind a desk on the far side of the room.

"Sup, dad," said Ryo casually.

His father scoffed. " 'Sup, dad.' What kind of greeting is that? You kids these days..." With a frown, Ryo Yomotashi, Sr. pushed up from his desk and took a few steps towards his son. "I have something for you. I got it this morning, but I don't know where it came from. The man who delivered it said it was imperative that you receive it today."

Mr. Yomotashi pulled an orange envelope from a drawer in his desk and held it out towards Ryo.

Ryo crossed the room and took it. "Good thing I didn't ignore you, then," he said, with just a hint of contempt. He peeled open the envelope and pulled out a sheet of paper, then began to read it over. Salvation, perhaps?

His father sighed, then turned slightly away. "I don't know what this is all about, but... if you're not busy... how about lunch, or something?"

"Tch. You trying to make up lost time?" Ryo almost laughed. Since when did his father want to do anything with him? The only times he spent lunch with other people was when he was trying to sell them something. "Besides, looks like I got somewhere to be. Later, dad."

With that, Ryo folded the letter, stuffed it into his pocket, and left the room, with his father standing silently in the background.

According to the letter, Ryo was supposed go out into the desert and meet some strangers next to some old building. Directions were included, but they were little more than, "Head east," and that sort of thing. There weren't exactly street signs out in the desert. It sounded like it might be interesting, and anything was better than what Ryo otherwise had planned for today: watching TV with some Chinese take-out. Besides, he hadn't been off-roading on his Hayabusa in a while.

* * *

The ride through the desert was hot and stifling, but the artificial breeze created by Ryo's superfast movement was a small comfort. Dirt and dust now covered his clothes, which right now consisted of a white t-shirt, blue jeans, and black leather jacket zipped all the way up to his neck, where his jet-black, polished helmet sat.

After about half an hour of screaming through the desert and nearly eighty miles per hour, the building came into view. It was kind of funny looking, but that just made it all the more impossible to miss or mistake, so Ryo knew he was at the right place.

When Ryo got a little closer, he saw two more vehicles parked outside the complex. Closer still, and he saw a couple of poeple: a girl and a guy. He couldn't recognize them from here. Ryo powered forward. He slowed the bike, then pulled up a few yards from the Jeep and stopped. He switched off the engine, kicked down the stand, then swung his right leg over the bike. With both hands he pushed off his helmet, then set it down on the bike's seat.

Ryo took a gander at the other two present. He didn't recognize either of them. Not that he had expected to, of course. "Sup, guys." He couldn't help but look Lexie up and down, clearly checking her out. It was just what he did. "How you doin'?" he said with a nod and his trademark half-smile.

((Sorry if it's absurdly long... I was absurdly bored... this successfully occupied 34 minutes.))

O soul, grieve not, for this abode is only transient.

The waves lapped against the side of the boat soothingly. Stevo could have stayed like this for another few hours, just laying on his boat, if hadn't been for his cell phone.

"Hello." He answered. He listened for a few moments then stood and grabbed his back pack. Pulling on a shirt, he could hear the plane not to far away. It was an older model, with pontoons for landing on the water, and was a green color. As it landed and slowly made it's way a few yards from the boat, a man jumped out and called to Stevo. The young man threw his bag to the man in the water and, with a hand through his wavy hair, jumped in the water himself.

"I really don't see why you put on a shirt if you were going to jump back in the water, sir." Commented Frederic lightly. "Now where would you like us to drop you off?"

Thirty minutes to an hour later a small plane landed in a small Californian desert and a soaked Stevo stepped out. Hefting his back pack, he waved Frederic and the pilot off. He walked over to a trio a vehicles, his flip flops smacking on the dry ground. Stevo smiled at the three there, "Yo! You dudes here for that job?"

Geoff looked at the other three individuals showing up for this wild goose chase. The girl's question only assured him that this was nothing of the ordinary. He shook his head in reply,

"No clue," he said simply. "Although, that whole "death annulment" clause was pretty suspicious."

He nodded as the other two showed up and made their greetings, "Any idea of how many of us this guy needs?" He could guess they would be in the dark like him as well, but it was worth breaking the ice. The building seemed less ominous now that there were reinforcements in the same predicament. He turned towards the building,

"Maybe we should go inside," he said. "See what this is all about?"

Keiko drove her car to the desert in America. She has been given a phone call from America saying that she would be chosen in the new elite team. The most convininent thing was that she currently had her tour at America so she guessed it would be great. He spots a few people. She gets out of the car "Ah... hello" she bowed "I'm Keiko... man this place is so hot." Keiko took off her cardigan "Its like an inferno here. Why are we here anyway." She picked up her phone to call her butler "Eh?! Doushite!!! No reception!" she placed her phone in her pocket. She looks at one of the people suggesting they would go inside the walls of the tower "Does it have air conditioning?"

Ryo crossed his arms, chuckling light-heartedly at Keiko's disbelief. "Welcome to California, babe." He winked.

He turned back to Geoff. "I'm all for getting outta this sun, though."

Ryo started towards the entrance to the building, passing by Geoff and Lexie. It really did look funny, but at the same time, very plain. In fact, from a distance, you probably couldn't even pick it out from the backdrop. Probably a good thing, since it appeared to be some sort of military establishment.

Ryo knew as little as all the others about this whole thing, and was anxious to find out more. The "death annulment" clause detailed on the folded note in his pocket was actually what had sparked his interest in the first place. Ryo never was one to pass up an opportunity for "death or glory."

She looked at Ryo and looked down at the soil. She followed Ryo into the building and looked at the base which didn't seem to function anymore "Looks really old..." she said "Where is this? Am I joining the army?" Keiko walked over to one of the computers and pressed a red button. The lights of the base began flashing. "Whoa! Kirei! (Pretty!)" she exclaimed. She looked at the tube which was at the far wall. There was nothing inside.

"So why are we here anyway?" Keiko asked "I need to be at the tour in seven hours!"

The group of people assembling was the strangest, most absurd, mismatched group of people Lexie had ever seen. When one of the newcomers clearly checked her out, she rolled her eyes in response. Matter of fact, that was her response to most of the people who assembled.

They began walking towards the building, with Lexie falling somewhere in the middle. She kept close to the boy she had originally met, if only because she met him first. Oh, and it helped that he hadn't hit on her.

"I'm Alexis, you can call me Lexie though." she said, realizing that no one had introduced themselves yet. "Might as well get to know each other..."

Her sentenced trailed off as they entered the building. Immediately Lexie's eyes went wide. It was like nothing she had ever seen before. Suddenly, lights started flashing.

"Are you kidding me?" she called out to the girl who had hit the button. "Don't touch anything! We don't even know where we are."

Geoff followed the other two into the base, taking a peak around the corners, but finding nothing out of the ordinary. He smiled at Lexie as she introduced herself,

"Nice to meet you," he said with a genuine grin. "Name's Geoff. Looks really old in here..." In fact, it seemed as if nothing had gone on here for a long time. As the lights began to flash thanks to Keiko's curiosity, Geoff noticed a thick layer of dust on almost everything in the room. It was so thick on the floor, that they're footprints could easily be seen after taking a step towards the center of the room.

"So what now," he asked, almost to no one considering none of them had a clue what was going on. Just then a door in the far back shot open, letting in a bright artificial white light that stung for a moment in Geoff's eyes. He was finally able to make out the figure of a human, probably a man in his mid thirties. The man began to walk over to them and Geoff could get a better view.

The man was indeed older than the lot of them, but had an air of enthusiasm that was hard to maintain at that age. His wavy brown hair was messy and barely brushed out of his face. A sleek pair of blue glasses sat on a face of boyish good looks and dashing green eyes. His looks seemed even more imposing with the white lab coat he wore loosely over a light blue button down shirt and charcoal slacks. Perhaps the give-away to his outfit, was in his tie which sported a logo for Transformers.

"Welcome," said the man with a winning smile. "I've been expecting you. My name's Dr. Cranston and I've brought you all here for a very important reason." The doctor paused for a minute, looking at them and around them. Geoff looked behind him to see what he was looking at, but there was nothing as far as he could tell. "Hmm, one, two, three, four, five... looks like two of you are missing."

Geoff could only shrug at this query. So there were supposed to be seven of them... but why? "So what's this important reason?" he asked flatly.

The doctor only shook his finger before turning to one of the computer boards. After a quick succession of buttons pressed, an alarm could be heard as the floor began to shake. Without a moment to spare, the computer consoles began to descend into the ground while the wall in the back parted, allowing a rush of that same white light to rush over them. It was almost a complete washout until his eyes could adjust again.

By the time the moving parts had stopped, they now stood on a balcony that overlooked a vast laboratory, filled to the brim with the latest technology, even devices Geoff had only read about in sci-fi books. The doctor turned to them again while spreading his arms out, "Welcome to the command center!"

"Death Annulment?" Stevo asked as he reached into his back pack frantically and pulled out a piece of crumpled paper with some jelly stains on it. He looked it over a few times before remarking, "I guess I should've read it..."

He looked up to find the others already starting off. Shoving the paper in his pocket, he jogged to catch up. A few of the others were talking to each other, names and such. Before he could say, "You can call me Stevo," a doctor of some sort walked out and started talking to them. Stevo didn't really hear it, he was checking out the flashing lights.

When an area opened up with some weird looking technolgy, Stevo let out an appreciative, "Woah, dude... Command Center? Cool. Cool."

Stevo dropped his bag to the ground and started looking around.

"Whoa! Sugoi!" Keiko screamed as the technology began to 'summon' itself. She looked around "reminds me of that TV Show I watched in Japan with the robots and suit people." she walks around "Dr Cranston. Why are we all here? I don't recall winning a prize so I could come here or register anything." she grabs and hairband from her wrist and ties it around her hair. She looks around the room and its many monitors.

If anybody knew the high-tech world, it was Ryo, being the son of a captain of industry. But there was high-tech, and then there was high-tech, and that's precisely what this underground facility boasted. There was stuff here the likes of which the world had never seen before.

"Whoa," was all Ryo could say as he walked in circles around the balcony, taking in the impressive view. Maybe he could score some of this cool stuff and show it to his dad later on... nah, the old coot probably wouldn't give a damn, writing the things off as meaningless toys before even looking at them.

"Cool out, babe," Ryo said to Keiko. "I'd say the prize is right here." He turned his gaze to Cranston. "Some pretty sick stuff you got here. What's it all for?"

"Don't talk to me like that!" Keiko said "I want to keep my image clean for my fans." she walked away from Ryo. Her uncle was interested in the technology of the current age and began making his own laboratory. He was pretty much close to what the common age called an 'otaku' "an obsessed fellow who lives in his home with his obsessions" she looked at the back wall "Are we going to live here by any chance?"

"Why isn't anyone answering?!" she screamed

Dr. Cranston only chuckled as he placed his hand on Keiko's shoulder, "It's all right. I'll explain everything in a minute." He turned to the others, "Please follow me if you will."

Geoff looked warily at Lexie. This was starting to get a little over the top. The high tech laboratory and their overly charming host was hitting him on so many receptors, he wasn't sure what to think except go along with it. As he followed the doctor, who was halfway down a stainless steel spiral staircase. At the bottom, the computer consoles twinkled and beeped intermittently while a figure pressed this button and that one.

"Whoa," said Geoff as his eyes settled on the figure, which turned out to be a life-sized robot!

Image

It was shocking and yet amazing to see something like it at this day and age. Of course technology had evolved in the past century, what with robots beginning to take on more humanoid appearances. So to see such an ancient contraption was something of an anomaly.

The robot noticed them approaching and moved from around the computers to greet them,

"Howdy folks!" exclaimed the robot. "Nice to meetchya! Name's Alpha" He proceeded to shake Geoff's hand... a bit cool, but the enthusiasm seemed to over turn that to make it warm and cheerful. Geoff smiled, "Geoff Gray."

Dr. Cranston cleared his throat, Geoff turning to see he was standing in front of two vessels, each containing a bright liquid. Suddenly two ethereal women appeared in them. They looked translucent, yet solid at the same time.

ImageImage

"Everyone," said Cranston. "I would like you to meet Dimitria and Divatox"

"Hello," said the two women in unison. Dimitria continued, "It is a pleasure to meet you all."

"Yes," chimed Divatox. "I have been eager to finally meet you all. Although... there seems to be a couple missing."

Cranston again chuckled, "I'm sure they're on their way. It is a bit of a trek." He turned around at pulled out a rusted old coin. "Now, do any of you remember in your history classes the story of the Power Rangers?"

Geoff looked the the coin, perplexed by its relevance. "Sure, but what does this have to do with us?"

"Good question," Cranston replied. "You see, it is they who saved the world then, and it will be you who will save the world today... you are going to be the next generation of Power Rangers!"

((I love reading your posts with the pictures in them. It makes me giggle every time.))

Lexie exchanged a wary glance with the boy who was apparently named Geoff. She was glad to see that amidst all the excitement and commotion, someone was feeling as weird and apprehensive about this situation as she was.

The next part was all a blur. Lexie tried very hard to pay attention, but the robot and virtual women made it very hard. Was this place for real? Suddenly the conversation turned to Power Rangers, and Lexie perked up. She listened to the verbal exchange between Geoff and Cranston, eager to hear what he had to say about the Power Rangers.

A sharp intake of air caused Lexie to choke when Cranston said that she and her companions would be the next generation of Power Rangers.
"Are you serious? Why us? Why now?" Lexie choked out, still recovering from shock.

"Power Rangers? Us...Power Rangers. I never would realise that we can be saving the world for justice." Keiko said. She looked at a rusted coin of a Pterodactyl and a Sabretoothed Tiger "Are you sure this is not a hoax."She walked over to the robot and stared at it "Hello there, I'm Keiko." She gave him a hug "The robot is so kawaii!!"

Sure, everyone knew about the Power Rangers. Fighting evil, saving the world, all that jazz. It was common knowledge these days. So, this was where they hung out all those years ago... Ryo assumed a place like this would have been made a national monument by now.

When the doctor told the gathered young folks that they were to become the next power rangers, a hush fell over them for a few moments, but the silence was quickly broken by a rude outburst of laughter from Ryo. "Oh, come on!" he said to Cranston. "You expect me to buy that?"

Cranston's stoic expression, however, told Ryo that this was no joke, and Ryo's face turned serious again, as well. "You're not kidding are you? Oh, man..." That was kind of a large bite to swallow.

So instead of trying, Ryo turned his attention away, focusing instead on the short robot called Alpha, which had apparently garnered Keiko's affections. Ryo walked over the the small metal man and banged his knuckles a couple times on Alpha's saucer-shaped head. "I wouldn't exactly call it cute. Seems a little trashy to me. My dad's built less trashy things in his garage over the weekend." Well, that was weird. Had Ryo just complimented his father?

"But seriously... Power Rangers?" Ryo said, spinning back around to face Cranston. "Why now, and why us?" He looked around at the gathered group. A real rag-tag one.

She looked at Ryo giving him her angry pouting face "BAKA! This robot must be ancient! Back in 1990 we wouldn't have Stemcell accelerators back then to power up the most humane robots." Keiko shouted as she was ready to slap him across the face. She then put herself together and turned to the control panel with the switches flashing. "These buttons looks like those from a video arcade cabinet."

Keiko hoped that this wasn't her home at all. She needed to return to Japan in a few weeks.
