Possibly Pirates: The Ancient Brotherhood OOC

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Skallagrim on Sun Apr 06, 2008 1:31 pm

Possibly Pirates 2: The Ancient Brotherhood.

Early 1700's, West Indies.

This RP takes place in the Possibly Pirates Universe, however it is allows you the freedom to be the Captain of your own ship, independent of the PP2: Curse of the Raksasha storyline. You do not need to be a player in PP2: CoR to play.

The rules:
This an expansion to another game, titled Possibly Pirates: The Curse of the Raksasha. It is not necessary for you to have played PP1 or currently in PP2 you to play in Ancient Brotherhood. There will be allusions to previous events in PP1 and current people and events in PP2, but don't worry...everything that you need to know will be explained. Now, here are the rules that you MUST follow to play:

1.No ninjas. NONE. Don't bother explaining your martial arts skills to me, or how they fit into the story, or how it will enhance the story or whatever. The answer is a simple, clean cut NO. This is a pirate game, so you will either be playing a pirate or a sailor of some sort. No ninjas.
2.Obey the basic rules of RPing. No Godmodding (controlling another player's character without permission from them), respect your fellow players, have fun and whatnot.
3.You MUST read the posts before yours. Don't skim or you could miss something important.
4.Request permission to join either by PMing me or by posting here, in the OOC thread. Don't do it on the IC thread.
5.Absolutely no OOC in the IC thread. If you slip up, you will be requested to alter your post. Slip up a lot, and I might begin to think that you just didn't read the rules. So you'll probably be kicked
6.If you go 7 days without posting (without first giving a reasonable excuse, such as vacation, super busy schedule at school, death), you will be kicked from the game.
7.Keep a reasonable amount of realism in your posts. There is a fantasy element here, but it still takes place in the early 1700's. So no time traveling machine gun wielding Amazons running around in bikinis and whatnot.
8.Don't try to force the plot forward. What makes a game work well is if we all work together to push forward the storyline...but don't go from sitting in a tavern to you being brutalized by an Australian king's pet naga that has decided to sweep you away to be his bride. Or anything odd like that.

As far as characters go, I would appreciate it if everyone involved put up a character description. For those of us that were involved in the first one, just make sure it's updated to where your character is now, two years after the ending. For those of you who are new, just a basic character sheet will work nicely. Baring in mind the rules, of course Something along these lines would be great, but it doesn't have to be exactly like this:

Name:
Age:
Appearance (image can be used):
Brief History

Many people like the idea of having command of their own ship, this is being offered as a place for ship to ship combat as well as character development and interaction, all set in the Possibly Pirates mythology.

You may join as Captains of your own ships, or as members of a ships crew.

There are three major ports from which the Ancient Brotherhood sails from, Port Royal for English buccaneers, Tortuga for French buccaneers and Barbados for Dutch buccaneers.

You do not have to be from these respective countries, however if you sail for another flag you will have a Letter of Marque that allows you to sail under the protection of that flag as a privateer.

You can also be a member of the Ancient Brotherhood, a buccaneer, who owes allegiance to no country but the brotherhood of pirates.

There are neutral ports such as Rio de Janeiro which are Portuguese or Spanish owned.

I have provided a link so you can see the options of actual ships available to you. And NO YOU CANNOT HAVE A SHIP OF THE LINE UNLESS YOU BELONG TO A COUNTRIES NAVY.

Please utilize the link below as it gives a slew of great information that we used in establishing the PP universe.

Re: PP2: The Ancient Brotherhood

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Skallagrim on Sun Apr 06, 2008 7:01 pm

Name: Erskine McTammany
Age: 32
Gender: Male
Ship Position: Captain of the H.M.S. Rising Dawn

Appearance:
Erskine is above average height, standing a commanding 6’3”. His dark brown hair is often tucked under his long powdered wig. Atop his head sits his crimson plumed bicorn hat. His honey colored eyes, piercing when focused on who ever he is speaking to. Erskine’s long angular face and high cheek bones cast a harsh frame for those eyes. His long, lean body wrapped in the gold gentleman’s long vest and rich royal blue captain’s coat. The white noble’s shirt that lays underneath the vest complete the image of a naval captain. His legs covered by white knee breeches that taper and vanish into his polished black thigh-high boots. The lacing that secures the boots to Erskine’s legs, a rich blue that matches his coat.

Adorning his waist is the thin black belt that secures the rapier carrier and frogs for his weapons. One is a beautifully crafted three-ringed rapier, a bone grip wrapped in wire making a very secure grip in the harsh environment on the sea. The matching main gauche sit on his left hip, tucked away, only the glaring bone hilt exposed. On the baldric that Erskine wears when they are closing on enemy ships, he carries a brace of dueling pistols.

History: Erskine McTammany joined the Royal Navy at the age of 8, and made his way through the ranks. First as a cabin boy, then a surgeon’s mate, and finally given a rank at the age of 18. He took command of his first vessel at 21, hunting down roving pirates that preyed upon the fat merchantman’s that sailed between the ports. Erskine is always an intense individual, but when faced against pirates that intensity becomes over whelming as he hunts pirates without qualm, granting no mercy to pirate ships that fail to surrender. Since he has been a captain in the royal navy, more pirates have danced a tightrope jig or were sent to Davey Jones’ locker than any other captain.

Erskine has always been considered an exceptional captain and his crews have always benefited from any success he obtains. While he doesn’t condone excessive drink, he does carry enough casks of rum to carry his crew months of duty. For all he asks, he returns ten-fold. Not one of his crew has ever faced the lash needlessly, nor has he ever had to resort to keel-hauling anyone. On occasion Erskine has used his influence to gain release of a sailor or two from local gaols.

Now Erskine has been commissioned to hunt the most elusive of preys, the buccaneers and privateers of the Ancient Brotherhood who pray on English merchant ships.

The H.M.S. Rising Dawn is a Fifth rate Frigate, displacing 1450 tons, has a compliment of 294 men, with 44x18 lb. cannon.

Name: Myriam Nancy Oaken
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Ship Position: None
Appearance: Dark brown hair cut just below her shoulders, generally kept braided and wrapped around her head. She has a very pretty face, and a sort of elegance about her that denies her humble position of birth. Her skin is pale and soft, and she is short of stature. She has pleasant curves and bright blue eyes, and is always graceful in her movements.
Brief Bio: Born the daughter of a butcher, Myriam grew up not lacking in money, but far from high up in social status. She has always tried to lead a respectable life...but her family is tainted by a run of less than noble members. Most of her brothers and cousins are involved in thievery, a thing that Myriam is deeply ashamed of. She despises any running against the law, and refuses to make even a minor infraction...if only to make up for the rest of her family. One day, her younger cousin was finally sent away for her shameful ways as a petty thief. But tragedy struck, and the ship that her cousin had been taken away on was struck by a hurricane. Her cousin was lost at sea, and Myriam traveled across the sea to assist with Richelle's funeral and such things. Unfortunately, she's had a little trouble getting back home, as most ships are uncomfortable taking women onboard. Now, her goal is to simply return home and go on with her life.

Name: 'Flintlock' Kelly Jones Mclar
Age: 30
Appearance: Image

Kelly's Famous Gun's, Kelly was named because of the many guns he carries like these.
Image

Kelly's Vessel
http://media.outnow.ch/Movies/Images/20 ... .fs/13.jpg
Kelly's vessel, "The Drakonian" is like any other pirate vessel. Stripped down of any uneeded items, more guns added, and more sail added. This gives it more speed, firepower, and manuverability. It is not as big as many vessels used by the navy, being only a schooner. But it can sail circles around most navy vessels.

History: Kelly Jones Mclar was born in Scotland, the son of a fisherman. All his life he grew up by the sea, one day during a fierce storm a ship was wrecked a mile off shore, the next day a body was washed ashore. In the dead man's hand was clutched a small amulet, Kelly Jones took the amulet and buried the man. He did not know at the time that the amulet gave him the Captancy over a pirate crew and vessel, docked hundreds of miles away. At the age of eighteen Kelly Jones began roaming the country in search of adventure, somehow he happened to end up in a port at the same time as the vessel, "The Drakonian". While in a bar he met up with a crew member of the vessel, and in a drunken stupor showed the man the amulet. Immediately the man took him to the vessel, and when Kelly awoke he found that he was now the captain of the vessel. For ten years Kelly has commanded the vessel now, and has become one of the most feared pirates ever.

Re: Possibly Pirates: The Ancient Brotherhood OOC

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Aslin on Mon Apr 07, 2008 11:22 am

Name: Aslin
Age: 25
Appearence: Tall and has a well toned body. Long brown curly hair that is tied back. She has a tanned colour from being on sea for her whole life. Her golden eyes are sharp and observant. She has arched eyebrows that indicates her strength in character. Her sharp nose sits upon a full mouth. She wears tight fitting breeches and knee high black boots. Slung about her hip is a brown belt that holds her dagger and her father's sword. She wears bindings on her chest as it makes it easier for her to move about when she's commanding her sloop, Poseidon. She wears a brown trench coat that falls to her knees. With her hair hidden under her wide brimmed hat, and her bindings about her chest, Aslin is often mistaken for a man. She behaves like one as she has never been in the company of woman.

Weapons:On her two hands, there are 2 bronze bands that extend to her elbows. Hidden beneath these bands are two blades. She has her father's sword and her dagger. She is also able to use the bow and arrow but prefers the sword to them. Hidden in the back of her cloak is her pistol- a weapon that no one knows she has.

History:Her Sloop, the Poseidon, was her father's but after her father's death, 6 years ago, the crew had voted for her to be their new captain because they all agreed that she was the 'man' for the job. Aslin has been on sea for as long as she could remember. She does not know who her mother is as her father, the former captain never talked about it. He ensured that Aslin was put to work when she was ten. He taught her everything she knew about sailing a ship, handling the crew and fighting. As such, Aslin behaves tough and never gives away any emotion- her face is always stoic. Her weakness: her crew- she cares for them like famliy and ensures that nothing bad happens to them. They do the same for her. Aslin is part of the Ancient Brotherhood, taking over her father from before. Aslin, being part of the Brotherhood has had been in so many battles that she is scarrred in memory.

As of now I have 1 pirate captain buddy, Kelly...so if he's not posting yet, do I just come up with the way I meet up the other captains of the Ancient Brotherhood? Considering there are only 2 pirate captains me and him...

Aslin, you have free reign to create and devise pirate captains and places as you will, there are a few strict cannon points for said Ancient Brotherhood, such as they are of multiple nationalities, are spread across the West Indies and there is one place where they all call home to seek refuge, Rio de Janeiro.

Although the Buccaneers of the Ancient Brotherhood can be found in Port Royal, Tortuga and Barbados, Rio is where they come together to seek peace and where they can negotiate with the Three Super Powers in relative security.
