We welcome our most amazing Global Moderating team leader, Angel Melfina, to our very first; Interview with a role player!

<Vexar> I'd like to begin with where you began. How exactly did this fate of role playing befall you?

<Angel_Melfina> It all started with anime. I fell in love with Sailor Moon on Toonami on Cartoon Network. It prompted me to go online in search of media about Sailor Moon and ended up joining a Sailor Moon chat.

It sucked, so when Gundam Wing came on, I researched it and came upon the Gundam Wing Chat, where I met Eric(Remaeus) and Justin(Zhelir) and Tonia(Haruka Tenou) and April(Faith) and many others. They all introduced me to role playing. It was all strictly chat roleplaying.

<Vexar> That must have been intimidating.

<Angel_Melfina> Bear in mind, this was in 1999, so yes, it was at first. I wasn't sure what was going on.

<Vexar> How'd you overcome that?

<Angel_Melfina> I just dove into the action. Justin/Zhelir was very helpful. He was one of my first friends on there. I have him to thank for bringing me into the world of RP. It's funny to look back on. I was always the damsel getting kidnapped or killed or something.

<Vexar> Then we all have him to thank, you now being a leading GM on this site. How do you cope with running a team and also role playing?

<Angel_Melfina> It can be rough and stressful at times, especially being staff, but I try to make time for roleplaying because it is my getaway. I'm really just now starting to learn how to balance staff duties and role playing. I will admit, it can still be overwhelming.

<Vexar> Especially when you have the real world to attend to. Do you have any tips for those wanting to help you out by becoming a staff member?

<Angel_Melfina> I'd say to always want to look out for what is best for the site as a whole. Love it like a home if you truly enjoy it here, and do what you can to keep it clean, just as you would anywhere you live. If you see a thread that is out of place, put a report on it and tell us why you're reporting it. If you see material that is inappropriate, put as report on it. We can't be everywhere at once. And, although we(staff) have the power to move/delete/edit/etc., it takes a whole community to keep our home clean.

<Vexar> Right on. Back to role playing, what are your favorite types of role plays?
<Angel_Melfina> Honestly, I like all kinds, although I shy away from ones containing fighting or really advanced futuristic stuff. They frighten me, as I'm not an expert at either by any means. Haha

<Vexar> That brings me to my next question. How do you handle conflict between you and other role players?

<Angel_Melfina> I haven't come across that in a long time. As I said, I normally shy away from it. But, if I did, I would certainly do my best to give it a try, even though it's not in my comfort zone. I think everyone should give different styles of RP a try, instead of sticking to one thing. It helps you grow as a writer and a role player.

<Vexar> I agree. In your time of role playing, how far do you feel you have come?

<Angel_Melfina> In terms of miles, let's just say I would be on Neptune by now. I have always loved writing, but I know I have improved leaps and bounds from when I first started role playing nearly ten years ago. Through RPing and school, I've learned more about developing a character, descriptive words, proper sentence structure, interacting with others. I wrote a Sailor Moon fanfiction years ago, and when I need a good laugh, I go back and read it. It really makes me realize how far I've come.

<Vexar> That's great to hear. I'm glad to have had this chance to interview you! Any final words or tips?

<Angel_Melfina> Yes. It is one of my biggest goals to make people realize that role playing should be a constant learning experience. When you're reading really good posts, you should be taking mental pointers and learning from them. So that each time you post, you get better and better. I've been at this for nearly ten years and I'm still learning when I read other good role players work. It's fun to learn and get better and ask for others to tell me where I could do better. And never forget that role playing should be fun. Treat others as you would want them to treat you. And that's it. ^^

<Vexar> Thanks for the tips and time!

Rock on Angel Melfina for providing her time and patience to allow this to be possible! And, to all of you outstanding role players out there. I’m watching for you, looking for the next person to interview, so keep up the awesome work!

This was quite an interesting interview. If you decide to conduct more of these, perhaps try to interview normal members; maybe even newbies if you feel like a bit of perspective is needed.

Great job, will wait for the next one. =)

Interesting.

Vexar was a good interviewer while you, Angel, were a good interviewee.
:3

I agree with Twilight's idea, mainly because I was thinking of the same thing. I think holding interviews with new members may help people wanting to join decide whether they're really into this site or not. Plus, it'll be interesting for us members!

Wow, very good interviewer. Maybe when he interviews someone else, he can ask who that person's favorite character(s) he/she ever made was, and then ask them questions with them in character, alongside the original interview.

I'd read that. . . really, I would.
If anyone knows of any good wilderness survival roleplays, I would be exuberated to hear about them or get an invite.
