Roman and Raze made it to the ship in less than half an hour. Raze quickly ran onto the ship and checked it. So far it looked clear.
"Hey!" Roman called to one of the docking workers. "You refuel my ship yet?" she asked walking over to him. The man jumped off a crate and picked up an electronic clip board,
"Nautical V?" he asked and Roman nodded. "You'll be at a quarter fuel in ten minutes," he said looking back up at her.
"Make is five and I'll slip a few creds your way." The man smiled greedily and entered a few numbers on the board.
"Roman Martyr?" she turned and saw two guards walking toward her. Instinctively her hand dropped to the gun in her hip holster. "Warden wants to see you, he's got a new bount." Roman looked over her shoulder and Raze who only shrugged.
"Fine, but he better make it quick," Roman said and followed the guards to the Warden's office. She entered without knocking and saw him standing near the window looking at the prison below.
"Hell hounds," he said without turning to look at her. "Very effective for keeping inmates in line," he chuckled. "Pias Lodicker, otherwise known as Crym. Seventeen murders, armed robbery, and deadly assault on five government officials. Last seen in the Gamma Quadrant near Tolin 5. Thirty thousand credits, what do you say?" he asked as he grabbed a file off the table and handed it to Roman. She flipped it open and looked at the picture.
"That's a big boy," she said shaking her head. "Looks like he weighs closer to forty thousand."
"Thirty-two."
"Thirty-eight"
"Thirty-five."
"Thirty-eight." The Warden glared but silently nodded. "Good. As always, he stops being my priority as soon as we..."
"Lock him in the cell," the Warden finished. Roman's eye twitched, but it was her turn to nod. The Warden grinned, his partly severed lip exposing his teeth. "See you in two weeks, Roman."
Roman walked toward the door. She was reaching for the handle when an alarm sounded. roman would have figured it was the second warning call for the hounds, except that the Warden suddenly gasped and a red light was flashing. She turned back to him and his eyes were bulging as he looked out the window.
"What?" she asked feeling her heart sink. She ran to the window and saw dozens of prisoners scrambling up the walls. One of the was wrestling with a guard. The prisoner grabbed the gun, shot the guard, and turned to the window. He blasted it and the Warden tackled Roman as the glass shattered.
"All hands to the first level, this is not a drill!" a voice came over the intercom. Roman shoved the Warden off of her and stood.
"Raze!" she called into her communicator. "Prison's going to hell, get the ship running." Roman ran for the door, but the Warden tripped her.
"Wait for the guards to secure the floor!" he said with a wild look in his eyes. Roman ignored him and tried to stand. "Don't open that door!" he yelled and hit her over the head. Her vision swam and she collapsed trying to regain some sense of consciousness. She had to get out before the prisoners got loose!
