Questions? Problems? And ze likes ( )

Postby MeiaGisborn on Sun Sep 04, 2005 3:14 pm

Well we might need a place where we can ask questions, instead of dealing with it privately with an admin/moderator, just in case other people have the same problem, let it be universally known, except if it is a personal problem.

No?

Well anyway the chat is not working for me. Refuses to let me on. So any of you smart people out there know what could be the problem?

Right now, since we don't have any questions that have been asked more than once, we don't actually have frequently asked questions. And, if you notice, the FAQ forum is open right now. Feel free to post questions there.

Right now, the chat has a couple bugs, but it is completely functional. FF doesn't seem to like it more than once, and IE works okay most of the time. Since I am optimizing the site for FF and THEN when the new IE comes out, it will be tested for compatability.

For right now, I work in Firefox.

Okay, I know I'm reviving an old thread (ALMOST THREE YEARS!), but instead of clouding the forum with another "General Questions" sort of deal, I thought I would continue this one with the retarded question that I have.

At the bottom of the main forum index, all the current online users are listed. Why are some of the names in italics? I don't see a common denominator in the names that I'm seeing in italics, and was just curious as to why they were different?

Today, Friday, October 10, 2009, is my last day on RolePlayGateway.com.
Everyone give me lots of love, because I shall be handing lots out. <3

I think the italics are the names of the users who have clicked on hidden, at least my name is no longer in italics and I have unchecked the hidden status box. *shrug*

They're the hidden users that you can see because you're staff.

I have a question that is simply out of curiousity and I don't want to create a topic about it either.
Ok, when you're in UCP and in the Usergroups tab, what does it mean by "demote selected"? This may be a really dumb question, but I was just wondering since there's a "resign selected" option as well.
Just curious!

Demote, I think, means that if you are a member of multiple groups, you are choosing for that group NOT to be your default group. For example... When I was on staff, I was a member of 4 different Groups: Global Moderators, GWC Vets, Registered Users, and the House of Daggers. I chose for Globals Moderators to be my main user group, so my name was green. Now, GWC is my main group, so my name is Periwinkle. If I wanted my name to be like a normal user, could just demote GWC Vets and my name would no longer be purple, but I'd still be a member of the group. I hope this makes sense.

Another way to do the same thing would be to just make Registered Users my main user group, but I think the demote option is there by default of the forum, perhaps in the off chance that the board owner, Remaeus, decided to get rid of the Registered User group, since EVERYONE is a member of it.

As for the resign option, I assume that is if you want to leave a group, to where you are no longer a member of it at all.

User Control Panel -> Manage Bookmarks

It is in the Overview, so one could find it if they check their messages. (One of the tabs.)
Meh.
