Roleplay Board: A mass production of roleplays. ( )

Postby Pangerbaum on Fri Jan 28, 2011 2:06 pm

Greetings all, I am looking for fellow roleplayers who want to design and create new roleplays. And I mean new roleplays. Meaning that if you can think of something that has more than 25% of a common theme, scrap it. This requires creative juices to be flowing! It also means (sorry to all you fans of these) no FMA alchemy, vampires, werewolves, harry-potter magic, dragons from C.Paolini, radioactive mutations, etc. An example, albeit not a very interesting one, would be a roleplay about snowball fights. It has never been done before and is sort of unique. While that example wouldn't cary very far, I believe collectively, if we have a group of four or five, we can develope stellar ideas, histories, and most importantly new, intriguing, thoughts. Because isn't that part of the fun? Making new characters, settings, and ideas? PM me or post here saying you're interested or it's something you might want to participate in. This isn't definate by any means, but it's the begining to the future!

Sounds quite intriguing. If other people are interested I guess i'll join? haha. As long as it isn't something like, studying for a test. Because that's incredibly bland. =D
Why is it called a broken heart if every part of you is hurting?

It will be quite grueling! Similar to doing a thousand pushups in a minute! But in your brain!

Hah, nah. It'll probably be more chill. It's still in the works. I just want to get a few people that have decent reading experience and roleplaying experience.

Anywhere, really. So long as we clean up the mess. Sidenote: Have you been stalking me? :O... A more serious matter- I think this might fall apart soon unless I get my act together and moderate.

I'd be up for jumping in on this - my main fun really is making unique or otherwise lesser used or more advanced stories and plots.

Haha lol maybe just slightly; I liked your writing style when I saw your post in Babylon, and when I saw this post, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. :p
So first we've got to figure out the game setting before we can decide anything else, correct?

This sounds like a great idea. A collaboration of minds is better than one unless it's politics.... Anyways, I would love to join in and give my ideas of what the story should be about.

Alright. Sooo I guess this is gonna be messy, but everyone just unpack your brain-full of thoughts that you think have possibilities and things to avoid.

I'll start with things to avoid because that's easier:

Vampires vs. werewolves

highschool anything(may make some exceptions)

Left for dead, 28 days later-esque plays of apocalyptic zombie-blah.

Deserted island with a bunch of people who crash-landed there. See: Lord of the flies and Lost.

Naruto-theme ninja stuff.

kenshin/bleach samurai-esque stuff.

The list goes on, but those are some things that just come off the top of my head.

Okay, things that are possible ideas for new plays:

I haven't seen many pirate roleplays recently, but it's been done before. Just a thought.

The workings of a town that has bits of each age in it. Example: A town with two-story max buildings, but modern design: Glass windows, ornate doors, air conditioning. Blacksmiths that produce both swords and have the know-how to make an engine?**1 Modern medicine meets magic?(It's possible we play it without magic. Middle age wolfhounds(closer to wolves than domesticated dogs) meets falconry meets domesticated cats meets unicorns?(again we can nix the fantasy idea.)

All of that was just an idea of a play. I haven't seen it before.

Basing off of the previous statement an interesting setting: a city that has all four seasons in it, but in different sections. Or multiple climates. Large city. Possibly a country with four different seasons year round. A part of the country that always has trees in fall color (google that if you've never been to the northeast or midwest-north in fall) and is mild weathered with occasional cold days. A blisteringly cold part of the country that is always snowing, but has the occasional unseasonably warm day with snowmelt. Many hotsprings and calderas? Maybe calderas are left out...or just one or two really big lakes heated by geothermal energy(caldera: a volcano after it has become in active. typically holds water-sometimes warm. Like a big heated pool). Summerland: preferedly on the country's ocean. It's always hot as if in a tropical area. i.e: florida and the carribean. Rains frequently. Jungles interspaced. Springland: next to the winterland and has snowmelt and many rivers that are ice cold. Wide open fields with daisies for cliche. It seems like everything is new-growth. (oh by the way it should be that the winterland touches fall and springland, but not summerland. same with fall land touching summer and winter etc. a big cycle.) in each of these 'lands' theres a dividing line. between winterland and springland is a line. you can have two feet of snow on the ground in winterland and new grass a foot away with weather warmer by 40 degrees. In the middle cross where all the lines meet, there is a city (to be named) where there are four districts for each 'land' and much trade happens there. bam. I love when an idea comes and loops around to connect.

Apollogies for my random string of words that probably are hard to read- I'm not too great at freewriting from the top of my head and having it make a lot of sense to other people.

I'm actually quite taken with that setting. Yes, it has many impossibilities so it has an element of fantasy, but other than that, it can be the setting for pretty much anything.

1**(I'm personally not a fan of engines, guns, any pollutant from whats natural. I wince at the airconditioning idea, but at the same time it could be cool.)

I do like the "Seasonland" idea... Sort of reminds me of LoZ: Oracle of Seasons...

Nerdy GBC games aside, a lot of RPs on this site utilize the factor of Magick or Ninjutsu or whatnot... I think it would be an interesting idea to set an RP in a Fantastical world, but not include the aspects of Magick. [I'm actually working on an RP as such as we speak]

Aside from that, I really have no input atm... I'm currently feeling a bit creatively blocked, so to speak.

Oh? I didn't play that one. For zelda, I was an N64 guy.

As for your roleplay.. Share your thoughts?

I'm an all-around Zelda nerd. I own a copy of every game in the series... :p

And as for the RP, it would be in a medieval / renaissance / baroque / whatever era, basically with knights, templars and assassins and shit like that... sort of based off of a "job system", if you may. Either no magick would exist in this universe, or there would be a Mage-type Job Class that could utilize Magick... Either way, it would limit it so not everyone is flinging fireballs around left right and center. Very alliance-based... I was planning on making the main conflict either a war between two kingdoms or a sort of civil war within the kingdom, between different factions of the army, etc...

I am leaping onto this thing! I want more original plots so that I (well, my characters) can live in worlds very different from my life ^^

I have a few strange ideas myself, though whether they've been done or not I am not sure.

Go ahead! Post them! I'm sure we'll eventually all spontaneously come together with a spur of creativity and make something amazing! I'm just so dead right now because of this awful term paper for U.S. History I'm writing. And I'm working out in order to get ready for tennis season. The winter slumber so far hasn't been very healthy haha.
