Mark Bentley sat in the small, internet cafe by the school's bookstore, his computer open as he typed something on it. A steaming cup of coffee was by his left hand, as well as his oh-so-important computer bag. His shaggy black hair hung over his face, glasses having fallen to rest on the tip of his nose. The black long sleeved shirt he wore was rolled up to his elbows, the salmon colored strips on the side curled up with every wrinkled. His jeans were worn and faded, slightly baggy, but still exposing the converse on his feet. His boy was lean, but had a certain class to it, an amount of muscle filling his shirt just enough.

Pausing, Mark reached down to pick up his coffee, raising it to his lips and sitting back in his chair. His eyes were focused on the screen, reading over the report he was writing. "Hn." He muttered, almost amused as he sat forward again. The soft roll of thunder could be heard through the cafes windows, as well as the slowly increasing pitter-patter of rain. He smiled slightly. Rain~ His favorite thing~

Quickly however, he returned to his work, wanting to get back to his dorm and pick back up on his video games.

Dan walked into his dorm room and upholstered his sidearm. "Man that thing has been poking my side all day," He complained rubbing his hip. After he unpacked his bag he put out his uniform. A long loud siren sounded from his bag and he said," I knew I forgot my radio." He placed the radio in a charger next to his bed. He cocked the weapon that had been poking him and placed it under his pillow. The badge that hung around his neck fell off. Dan placed the badge in the dresser door. His computer beeped and he pulled it out and started to access the police data bank. "Nothing is going on today, its been slow this year," He muttered to himself.

Jay opened one eye as his roommate walked into the room. "Geesh, stop the muttering." he said sitting up on the bed. Jay walked over to the computer to take a peek. "What do you mean there's nothing going on? Do you expect there to be some kind of murderer larking around?" he asked looking out the window and yawned. "When does class start anyways?" Jay asked looking at the time. He walked over to the bed and layed back down. "When it's time, can you wake me up?" he questioned closing his eyes, and making himself comfortable.

"Gya!?" Chesley said as she was walking home from the music store. She had bough a new CD and some headphones and was in the process of listening to it when she felt a rain drop on her nose. Her first reaction was to stuff her new stuff in the plastic bag and make sure it didn't get wet. Right in time too, the moment it was safe a steady down pour began. She looked around in search of a haven, she caught sight of a canapy in front of a window to a coffee store. She made a mad dash and managed to get under it, of course it was a little late now.

Her raven black hair was dripping with water and her layered outfit, one blue short-sleeved shirt and a grey long-sleeved shirt underneath, were sticking to her skin. The sticky clothes shed light to just how skinny she was, this effect also gave her somewhat more of a figure. Also, her dark blue skinny jeans almost looked black due to how much water they had absorbed. When she looked in the window though and saw her reflection she smiled, she looked better wet.

She thought about waiting for the bus but decided she was already soaked she would walk. Her school and dorm were four blocks down the road and past the boy's high school. Chesley could careless, walking in the rain she headed towards her dorm and tried to think of any homework she had yet to finish. "Oh no..." she gasped she began to run, she had a biology report due tomorrow and she hadn't even started her research yet. She would once again pull an all nighter. As she past the boy's school a couple of them cat-called at her, she rolled her eyes but didn't acknowledge them. They were making fun of her because she didn't have an umbrella, they could go jump of a bridge for all she cares.

Texi had just finished his evening workout, and walked out of the gym, making his way toward the cafe. He opened the door, and the cute waitress that had been flirting with him the day before, shot him a quick smile, and said hello. He replied with a quick hand gesture and spied Mark typing away at a computer. He sat down beside him and said "Hey Marky, watcha got there?" looking at his computer screen.

"Will do, but its 8:45PM we don't have classes for like twelve hours," Dan said laughing. His radio went off and sounded the medical call alarm."Dang that gets louder and louder," He said while covering his ears. The siren stopped and he picked up his pillow and switched the guns safety off. "Well goodnight," He said while fluffing his pillow and drifting off getting ready to sleep.

"That report for physics." He muttered, sitting back in his chair and glancing at his roommate over his glasses, even though it was just a blurry outline. He pushed his glasses up as he turned back to the computer. "Have you started yet?" He asked, raising his coffee back to his lips and sipping the hot liquid. He reached his free right arm out to move his computer bag closer, almost protectivly, but also to make room for Texi.

Jay sat up as Dan got ready to sleep. "Gosh I should keep track of time.." he mumbled. Jay quickly changed into some clothes and pulled up his hood. "It's only 8:45.. I'm going to go out for a walk." he said changing his mind about going to sleep. He already had enough, and he liked walking around during the night. Jay walked out of the dorm and headed outside. It was raining... just great. With a shrug, he stepped outside into the rain making his way to the cafe.

Once in her dorm she didn't even bother changing, she had a report to get to work on and Chesley wasn't going to waste any time. Her dorm mate glances at her and burst into laughter, "You look rediculous." She lifted her cell phone and took a picture, "Expect this to be around the whole school tomorrow, maybe even the guy's school if I send it to my boyfriend." That was Kaitlyn Edwards. Chesley hated Kaitlyn, she was like her own personally imp intent on making her life a living hell. Of course she was really popular, she had thick, volumous blonde hair-compared to Chesley's straight, plain black hair- and had the perfect hour glass figure-compared to Chesley's skinny frame, and and hour glass figure that could only be seen wet. She also had a boyfriend from the neighboring boy's school, a football player, the one all the girls-excluding Chesley- fell head over heels for. Her life was perfect.

Then their was Chesley's life, guys insisted on making fun of her otherwise they paid no attention to her existence. Girls saw her as the perfect target for their daily harassment. She wasn't gorgeous, and even though she knew she could be if she tried exceptionally hard, never tried. Her dorm mate didn't help matters in the least, instead it just meant her only refuge was outside of the school at her favorite music store.

She sat down and started her biology project. Finding the research would take about three hours and writing the paper would take...the rest of the night. 'Lovely' she thought. Kaitlyn giggled and walked over, "Hey guess what, my boyfriend loved your picture and has sent it to most of the guys in the school." she walked over to her bed and jumped on it, probably to send it to the rest of the girls. Chesley's face fell into her keyboard, she was doomed in this room. She packed up her laptop and left her dorm she would find a place safe from the rain, with wi-fi, and finish her project there.

"Hah! Are you kidding? Ive got WAY better things to do than some report. Like uh...That waitress over there! She totally digs me, I can tell. Call it uh...Texi's intuition." He said while winking at the waitress she smiled and waved at him while cleaning a table. Just then Tex's cell phone buzzed with the tune of Maroon 5's hit song "Wake up call". He opened it up to find a hallarious picture of that Chesly, girl soaking wet. "Hah! Look at this picture my bro sent me!" He handed the phone to mark.

“Humpf.” His lips curved up in a smirk as he took the phone, adjusting his glasses to see it better. “At least it looks okay on her. Doesn’t look like she’s made of plastic, does it?” He half chuckled, interrupted as his own phone buzzed from inside the computer bag. Like always, it was on vibrate, and somehow he managed to know it was going off. He pulled it out, touching the screen only to see the picture appear on his phone. He chuckled again, handing his roommates phone back and stuffing his other in the bag.

His fingers returned to the keyboard, but eyes flicked between the screen to his roommate. “And this report is due tomorrow, ya know. I’m simply revising it. That, and stalling to get back to the dorms.” He chuckled again, fingers moving on the track pad to a new section of the seven page document.

She had finally found a dry patch underneath a tree, and it was close enough to the biulding to get wi-fi. She smile, not a single girl in the school would come out into the rain for the sole purpous of making fun of her. She got to work on her project, to her surprise the information she needed she found quickly, and lucky for her she was a fast typer. Maybe it wouldn't take all night, she smiled at the thought. Pulling out her head phones she put them on, when they played music they had neon strips that glowed and a punch design on the head phones. She turned on her new album: Black Holes and Revelations by no other that Muse. She smiled as she started typing her paper.

(Sorry, I gotta go, I'm refereeing a soccer game soon, and I need to get ready. Bye guys.)

Jay pulled off his hood and looked out the cafe window. So much for a walk... he thought as he took a seat. He tapped his feet and remembered there was a report due tomorrow. "Oh, damn it.." he mumbled. Jay hadnt even started yet, and completely forgot about it until now. Sighing, he got up from his seat and decided to head back to the dprm. Maybe be can finish it by tomorrow in the morning.. which was highly not likely for him to do. He walked out of the cafe and went back to the school.

When he got to his dorm, he walked in, closing the door quietly seeing that Dan was asleep. Jay turned on the computer and sat there, tapping on the desk.

The radio blared and Dan woke up gasping for air. He put on his uniform and ran out into the rain and to his car. The engine turned over and he turned on the sirens. The cars wheels slipped in the rain and splashed the window of the nearby cafe. A large group of cruisers stationed outside of a large building ,on the other side of town, were flashing lights and making sirens. "Whats going on," I asked as an officer walks up to me. "Lieutenant, we have one perp inside with five hostages," he told me. "OK rush the building after S.W.A.T gets here," I ordered him.

Mark jumped slightly as the water smashed against the window frame near him. He turned in his seat quickly, pushing his glasses back up just in time to see a police car, sirens blaring and lights flashing, rush past. "What the hell...?" He muttered, staying where he was a moment. He should finish revising his paper, but his curiosity got the best of him. Snapping his computer shut, he pushed it into the bag and slung it over his shoulder. Grabbing his coffee, he turned quickly to door, heading out before glancing back at Texi. "You coming?"

"Sure am, bro." Texi said, as he followed Mark out the door. On his way out, he turned and shot the waitress a "Call me!"

Sirens were blaring louder than her ear phones could drown out, Chesley decided at that moment that she was going to file a complaint. Looking at the road she found the car had gonethe other way. She stood up, she was half- way done writing her essay, she could finish when she got back.

Mark sighed, growing impatient with his roommate as he grabbed Texi's wrist, pulling him outside and into the rain. Thankfully, his computer bag had a flap going over everything, and he had thought to put waterproof spray on it when he first started carring all his thing around. They would be safe. He started running, releasing his roommate as he made his way to the building with cop cars and lights flashing. This was it, he pressumed. Pushing his glasses back up, his hair sticking against his neck and darkening, he noticed Dan was over there as well! Mark hurried over to him, not paying heed he probably shouldn't. "Hey, what's going on?" He asked, blinking up at the building and sheilding his eyes from the rain.

Jay watched as Dan ran out the door in a hurry. He was pretty used to him doing that so he wasnt surprised. Jay watched as Dan's car speed off somewhere through the window. "Looks like there's an emergency." he muttered to himself before shutting off the computer. He gave up on writing the report, knowing he probably couldnt finish it anyways.

Chesley found the building with all the cop cars, it was pretty hard to miss; sirens blaring, cops yelling orders, big red and blue flashing lights. You would have to be deaf and blind to miss it, and even then you would probably walk into the throng of people thus giving it away. She was curious, she walked up to a random kid, "Hey, what is going on?". The kid didn't appear to hear her. So she just pushed her way up to the front where she could see better.

Upon reaching the end of the line, literally, she fell forward onto her hands. Barely catching her bag which consisted of her laptop -with the research paper- and more importantly her head phones and music. From here she had a pretty good view, and could make out some words, but still had absolutely no idea what was going on. Looking around she thought she saw what appeared to be Kaitlyn's boyfriend, she quickly recognized that it was NOT him. Rather a kid who looked just like him, and he was with a guy with glasses; four eyes. They were talking to one of the cops, whom seemed to be about the same age. 'Perhaps I should try to get closer and figure out what was going on.' she thought to herself.

"Sir I need you to step back," He told the civilian. The radio sounded once more and Dan talked to one of his officers," OK whats the status on S.W.A.T?" "We have snipers ready and trained on his head," He told Dan. "Good take him down," Dan said over the radio. The sniper fired and the bullet penetrated the perps head. "Okay clear the hostages," He yelled over the radio.

Jay wondered what was going on, and so he went back outside. It wasnt really hard to find where Dan was since there was flashing light everywhere. He walked through the crowd of people until he saw Dan. "What's going on here?" he asked looking around. It seemed like something big happened. Then he noticed Texi and Mark. "Oh, hey." he said raising a hand.

Dan took off his helmet and stopped being Mr.Police officer and just acted like Dan. "Hey guys," He said while shaking the helmet hair away. "Jay did you see me give the call that killed that bad guy," Dan said when his head stopped shaking.

Chesley stopped when she heard the gunshot. "Oh..." she said, "I guess that means it is over." She lifted her head up in pure frustration, "Right when I was getting dry too." She looked forward and watched the steady stream of water going down her nose, she probably looked stupid but she didn't care. She chuckled, if only she had the brains to bring an umbrella, or at least a rain jacket. The chuckle stopped abruptly when she thought about having to return to her dorm room. She looked down at her hands, her long-sleeved shirt was so heavy with water it began to stretch out over her hands, she chuckled again. 'I can't really blame her for thinking it is funny." she thought. She decided to stay behind and watch the police finish their job, and untill the crowd left and it would be easier to actually get back out.
