Introduction

Image
Several years have passed since the time of the Elric brothers, the famous sibling alchemists who saved the country of Amestris countless times. Their tales have been written down in history books, their heroic deeds turned into legends, and the Homonculi they once fought have become nothing more than the things of nightmares for young children. Yes, over the years peace has fallen on the land, save for the endless conflicts with the neighboring nations, but that is to be expected. And what has happened to the brothers?

During their last adventure they passed through the Gate and emerged on the otherside, in a new world that was quite the opposite of their own. Alchemy as they knew it did not exist their, but they where whole, and together, and that was all that mattered. Their fates after crossing, however, are unknown. In our own world, however, Roy Mustang has taken up the position of Fuhrer, and though his experiences with the Elric brothers he has been slowly using the military to bring peace to the land, rather than conflict, as was often the case before. Winrey is now funded by the military, however is still completely independent of their workings, except that now if a solider ever looses a limb they get an automail replacement for free. Other than that she ownes the country's best automail shop.

But, over the last few years, strange reports have reached Mustang's desk. Reports of odd lights, mysterious deaths and dissapearances, and other such things. At first he thought nothing of it, but as more and more reports came in, some of them showing signs that alchemy may have been involved, he begins sending out special investigation units. These are usually cells of three to five people, most or all of them being State Alchemists, who go out on location, make a formal, first hand report, and do whatever they can to prevent further acts from occuring. Afterwards they return to Central Command, though so far little has been turned up. It seems that if an alchemist, or a group of them, are responsable for these events, they are very good and covering their tracks.

All of this changes one day with the dissaperance of one of the highly ranked State Alchemist, known as the Forecast Alchemist, who had the abilities to change the weather in the area for a time. The man had just returned from an inventigation of a small farming village in the West Area and was making out another, follow up report, more thorogh than his first, as he was not so pressed. This partialy finished report was found on his desk, but there was something odd about it. It seems that alchemy was used to erase parts of the report, and more importantly on an area near the bottom, where he may have tried to write something just before whatever it was happened to him. All that could be understood from the information on the paper was that alchemic symbols were found etched into the rafters of a barn, seemingly randomly. It is suspected that prehaps he was onto something and those behind the mysterious events had to silence him.

While Mustang believes the man is dead, he is still gathering a new group of State Alchemists together to investigate the West Area more thoroghly...
-=-=-=-

Here is some information, for those of you who are new to this story and those who might not remember.
For starters, this is technically not a redo or remake, it is the exact same storyline as A Tale of Transmutation (the original rp), this just picks up where the old one left off because, well, people stopped posting...anywho...

Shortly after the exams were given, where only a small number of people passed, a human chimera broke into the records warehouse in Central and made an attempt to kill on officer of the military as well as destroy important information kept within the warehouse. In the end, he escaped, but the records, while damaged, were saved.
With this in mind, and matter to attend to himself, Mustang has ordered the new state alchemists to go along with a high ranking officer and state alchemist by the name of Darna Shaelladh. Now, our group has been given the task of not only finding out who created the human chimera, but continuing on with the investigation into the West.

"It's Issac, Miss Darna." Issac says with a laugh, looking over at the more experienced alchemist and laughing a little at her last words. He had always been told that the military was full of hard men and women with no sense of humor, but he had begun to learn that this was only half true. Since he had come to Central he'd met many kinds of people, like Miss Darna, their leader now, who seemed to him to be like a multicolored ball always bouncing around. Sometimes she was sad and blue, others she was angry and red, but she was a friend, and Issac just hoped she would be a good one, concidering what might lie ahead for them all. "So, to the train station?"

Turning in the right direction, with the others behind him and Darna at his side, Issac began walking towards the front gates of the Central military base, and towards the actual city. He had seen enough of it, and places like it, to know not to wander around, and so as soon as he got off the train he had come straight to the military base. Thanks to that, and his somewhat decent memory for landmarks, he was able to recall the exact route he had taken and got them started on it.

This business with the chimera though, it bothers me, Issac thinks as he walks, his left, gloved hand in his jacket pocket, his right hanging loosely at his side, the same side Darna was on. I didn't even get to see the thing, but it had enough alchemical energy to knock Miss Darna for a loop. and from what I've been told since then, it caused the sprinklers to go off. What was it doing in the records room anyway, trying to steal something? But for who? Who could have made something to strong?

All this thinking about the human chimera was getting Issac worried, and slightly paranoid. In his jacket pocket he always kept a small amethyst marble his father had shone him how to make, and right now he was playing with it, rolling it around inside the pocket, trying to take his mind off things. He had fought against evil before, most days in fact, traveling on his own from place to place, so why should a chimera bother him, even if it was a human one?

Commandant and State Alchemist Vincent von Mark strode through Central City lazily, his sunglasses doing little to block out the sun, which shined overhead at a seemingly perfect brightness; not bright enough to be irritating, but just enough to cast a nice shine on the day. A good day to be doing absolutely nothing...unfortunately, Vincent was currently about to be doing something...something quite important.

His destination, not far away through the streets of the city, was the train station at which he would meet the people he would be working with on this assignment.

The assignment, it seemed, was altogether simple, though Vincent figured Mustang had left a detail or two out--Mustang had a tendency to do that nowadays; even though Vincent was a commandant, Mustang also left him out of the decision making of the state alchemists. That was probably a good thing; the last time Mustang had asked Vincent what changes he believed should be made, Vincent had recommended that they start recruiting cuter girls.

"Clearly he didn't take my advice," Vincent muttered to himself with a playful smirk. He admitted, some of the girls were okay--but those girls also happened to be the type to get very...touchy about Vincent's...well, slightly flirtatious way of going about things. Most of them, however, realising that this was Vincent who was flirting with them, recognised that he wasn't being serious (usually) and ignored him. Sometimes they even flirted back.

Unfortunately, there wouldn't be any girls to flirt with this time. "What am I gonna do..." he sighed with genuine concern, but that worry was dashed when, in the distance, he saw a young man whom he did not recognise--and Darna Shaelladh, whom he certainly did recognise. Jogging over to them, he began his greeting in his usual casual, unconcerned way. "Hey Darna!" he called, even though they were by this time not far apart. "Thank god--you don't know how worried I was." He doubted he would have to explain to her what he was worried about. He turned to the young man next to her. "Nice to meet you," he said, suddenly adopting a mature tone. "Commandant and State Alchemist Vincent von Mark."

With the first sound of his voice in the distance, Darna slowed her walking and gently squeezed Isaac's shoulder. Of course the Fuhrer would be so kind as to send the delightful and ever infamous Puppeteer Alchemist with them. Not only that, but he just had to be her commanding officer. Darna suddenly started to think that perhaps a promotion was in order for all the bull that was passed her way.

"Worried?" Darna laughed louder than a normal person would and rested her head on Isaac's shoulder. He was a good sight leader for her. She just might keep him around.

"Worried that it would be all male pheromones? Afraid no little hotties would be around? Well, I'm afraid you have once again been let down, Vincent von Mark." Shaking her head while it rested on the boy's shoulder Darna sighed. "Sometimes I think Fuhrer Mustang is trying to drive me into an early grave." The statement was with a lower tone, but still light-hearted. Vincent von Mark may have been a nuisance as a human, but he was one hell of an alchemist and she couldn't possibly forget that. Finally lifting her head back up, Darna readjusted the sunglasses on her nose and allowed another rather large smile on her face.

"Well, I suppose we have another body to take along with us, Isaac. It's a good thing Taven cooks for many." Turning her face in the direction of Vincent she smirked. "We're making a pit stop on the way to East. Hot food and a new cane for me." Darna realized something and laughed as she tap Isaac's knee with the cane he'd so kindly loaned to her.

"It seems we all have some common interests. All three with canes. What a trio we could make." Giving the young man another squeeze she lowered her head again and pulled the cane in tight to her body. "Continue on, Isaac. We don't want to miss our ride."

At the sound of the mans voice, Issac instinctually slowed his pace. Looking over he was wondering how this man knew Darna, but before he could say anything the man introduced himself as Something-or-other Vincent von Mark, another state alchemist. Just when he was about to introduce himself to the man Darna placed her heads against his shoulder, which caused him to blush slightly, then smirk a little at her words. It would be very odd, three state alchemists traveling together, all of them with canes that weren't completely needed. Then, all of a sudden the conversation came to an end, and he felt Darna lift her head, squeeze his shoulder once more, and tell him to move on.

"Sure...um, nice to meet you Vincent." Issac says, raising his hand to his head in a half hearted salute, not sure yet if he trusted this man or not. "The station shouldn't be too far from here, we can still make the train with plenty of time to find a nice seat somewhere." As he speaks, both to Darna and to Vincent, he begins walking once more, leading their little group, or Darna at least, to the station and their ride into the East.

I wonder what type of alchemy this guy uses anyway? Issac wonders. He looks kinda...off. Maybe he deals with fire, or light, or something bright like that, may explain those weird sunglasses he's wearing. Issac found that he was still to polite to ask the man outright, and he decided it would be rude to try and ask Miss Darna about it in private, and so he would simply wait and see. They were bound to come across something that would require alchemy from him, right? Unless he didn't fight of course. Well, maybe his skills are useful, whatever they are. Mustang wouldn't send a new state alchemist like me out with one high ranking alchemist and an odd guy just off the streets...would he? I suppose he might...

Soon the sounds of the station could be heard. People moving around and talking, the train whistle in the distance, the men in suits shouting for people to move back from the tracks and prepare for departure. One person caught Issac's eye more than the rest through. It was a tall man in a dark outfit, with a wide brimmed had pulled low, so as to cast his face in shadow and make it unseeable.

(4 people with canes actually XD)(guna keep it short for now, since im not with you guys yet D:)(wait, tall dark man! that might be my intro!)

Riley walked down the road, nearing the train station. He saw a few state alchemists, chatting to themselves. As Riley looked at the train leaving, he stopped. It wasn't his train anyways, his train was carrying his package, his notebook he had to leave behind. He kept his eyes on the state alchemist. Ok, well, he wasn't really a killer or thief, and hasn't done anything wrong really, but none the less, he had no interest joining the military. He preferred to do things his way. As the next train started to approach, he noticed one of them looking in his direction. There were a few others who also had Dark clothing and such, but he couldn't shake the feeling they were looking at him....

He guessed he would find at soon enough, because if they did notice him, they would stop him before he left the station most likely. As the train approached the station, a train worker took out the mail and packages. "Thats mine" Riley said, pointing to a package. The man was happy to give it to him. But only when Riley turned around and start to leave did he realize the person was too happy, and didn't ask any questions. Before even seeing what was coming at him, he took out his sword and blocked the incoming sword attack. "Damit" he said under his breath, staring his assailant in the eyes.....

(well, thats not too bad ^.^)

Vincent paused momentarily when Darna informed him that there 'would be no hotties'--which seemed to Vincent to be implying that Darna herself was not good looking. For all his wiles and charisma, Vincent had trouble knowing what to do when people said things at their own expense, so all he did was smile that self-assured grin of his and say, "Aw, c'mon, that's not necessarily true. But hey, yeah, this should be pretty nice! If Mustang's got me n' Darna on the job, it must be something good!" His nonchalant, very casual demeanour may have belied his true capabilities--but then, perhaps that was all to Vincent's own advantage...

As the train they required pulled into the station, Vincent strode towards it at a brisk pace, ensuring that Darna and Isaac were following closely. He was nearly at the train when he heard the sound of a sword clashing against another blade, and swept around to see a large man in black swinging a sword at a boy who could not have been more than fourteen years old--a boy who had his own sword, but, it seemed, was unlikely to fight back effectively against a full grown adult. "Now then, seems we have us a situation here..." Vincent murmured before taking off towards them.

As he approached, the man turned towards him with a leer--what was this clown with sunglasses and a cigarette planning to do? "Get out of here--" he began with a nasty tone, but he suddenly stopped. "My, what manners..." Vincent sighed melodramatically, his hands in his pockets, but the man didn't seem to hear him. He had frozen, his body had seized up, and his eyes wide open; the sword fell to his side, and he suddenly fell to his knees, his hands grasping his face and trembling. Suddenly, he began sobbing and shrieking. "No! Don't see that! Please! Don't make me remember..." He seemed in great pain as his body contorted and he continued to scream as if he was being forced to envision the most traumatic, terrifying event possible. Vincent merely looked on; behind the light tint of the sunglasses, a slightly cruel, sadistic glow could be seen. Then, as suddenly as he had begun to do so, the man stood up calmly, walked to a nearby police officer, and politely (amusingly politely, it seemed), asked to be arrested.

Vincent turned back to Isaac and Darna with a shake of the head. "Pitiful," he said. The mere touch of cruelty and sadism was gone, replaced by the usual energy and life. "Weak-willed, that one." He turned back to the young man who had been attacked. "Alright there? I'm impressed, I wouldn't have seen that attack coming so easily."

So caught up in watching the strange man in black was Issac that he didn't even notice the sword fight until it had already finished. His eyes never left the man in the hooded cloak until he was aboard the train they would soon be on. But once he was gone. Issac snapped back into reality, and on instinct went to raise his cane, which he remembered wasn't there, but in Miss Darna's hand.

"Damnit...oh well..." He mutters to himself, reaching into his satchel and taking out a piece of paper with a transmutation circle on it. The circle, once activated, would create a simple, but sturdy stone cage around whomever he wanted, but, seeing as how the attacker strangely walked off and turned himself in, leaving the young, yet tall swordsman in the hands of Vincent, Issac only held it in his hand, at the ready.

"That guy, Vincent...he was able to mess with the others mond, using alchemy, right Miss Darna?" Issac asks the woman quietly, staying put for a moment, while the guards come around and gets the crowd under control, moving them away from Vincent and the boy. "Must have something to do with the bodies natural chemical balance...I wonder..." There was no need to wonder, Vincent was a state alchemist, and so there should be no need to worry about his powers turning on Issac. But, even so, he couldn't help but wonder, would his medical alchemy, along with his medical knowledge, prevent the man from assaukting his mind, or was he just as vulnerable as everyone else?

Shaking his head, Issac looks back at Darna, not sure what to do. He has only been a state certified alchemist for a day now, so he doesn't know he could probably just flash his watch and calm everything down a few notches, and so he looks to his more experienced leader for help. To Issac, she, if anyone, would be the one to know what to do and how to handle Vincent if nothing else.

"You hurt kid?" Issac reluctantly calls out, looking back over at them.

Riley holstered his sword, the entire time hadn't set it on fire (yes, Holstered XD). Riley picked up his notebook. Outside, other then a few punches the guy was lucky to get in, looked fairly ok. He was angry with himself however. He should have known they would try something. But he didn't think they knew what train he put the package on. Riley normally would have won that fight, but he was in too big a public place. His quick reaction alone had caught some attention. Riley then looked at the other 3. "Well, i guess thats enough fun for one day" he said under his breath.

He saw the transmutation circle. Did they recognize him? Riley kept an eye out. He was somewhat suspicious, it was unlike anyone to just send a one man team to kill him. Not if they knew who they were dealing with. If Riley had shown his full force, the man would have been dead fairly quickly, but then they would know who he was. Then he looked at the 3 again, eyeing the transmutation circle. Riley considered going on the train.

But Riley did not expect what happened there. He had made the man simply walk away. He would have to be careful around that one. He then heard him say "Alright there? I'm impressed, I wouldn't have seen that attack coming so easily." "Thanks, you..."he thought about what he was about to say. "You pick up some tricks while traveling. Especially with those new Bandits around, taking anything of high value and military. "And even more so with some of the usual chaos that happens here" Riley added. Riley looked back at the train, which had already started leaving. He had been distracted too long to get it. He sighed and turned around, only to hear an explosion. He turned around, only to find the train had apparently been rigged to explode. They had known he would have gotten on the train. Riley made a note he would have to keep an eye out for them.

Then someone else had asked, which is why he turned around, if he was ok. "Other then a punch in the gut, a punch in the stomach, and a pinch almost hitting my ...gut again." he noted. That guy was so lucky he had surprised Riley. And that Riley couldn't use his full power. Riley looked back at the wreckage. "I guess its a good thing i missed the train" he said, somewhat Jokingly. Riley realized he would have to be more careful however.

The kid kept answering his own questions, leaving Darna with nothing to answer. She had since let go of his shoulder and was listening to the fight she could not see. It was some ways away, and like always, Vincent took it upon himself to correct the situation. Darna wasn't very fond of his cocky attitude, nor the way she felt she couldn't ever really trust him, but watching him perform that alchemy was like watching a great painter work his magic. Everything was so fluid and there were little hints of electricity in it. She watched him closely, seeing all the colors sway from Vincent into the perpetrator and how he sent the little messages telling him what to envision and how to move.

"Gorgeous," she whispered. Just as he was turning himself in, that's when all the citizens started talking, yelling, acting terrified and shocked at the same time. Sighing, she set the cane down and began moving through the crowd.

"Excuse me! Move! Coming through! Excuse me! I'm blind! Get the hell outta my way!" She wasn't exactly couth, but it got people to split for her. "State Alchemist making her way!" That's when she decided to pull out the watch and swing it around. It was a beautiful thing, really, being able to flash the silvery disc and pretty much get whatever she wanted. In this case, it was the ability to boss the police around.

"Officer!" She called out, because she knew she couldn't see the man or woman collecting the assailant. "Take the attacker to Central Headquarters. Let Lieutenant Wilhelm take it from there." The Colonel spoke so that he could not argue with her no matter how hard he tried. It came naturally to her, bossing people around. It felt good sometimes too. As she was finishing up her business with the police men, she walked over toward Isaac, whose scent she was growing more and more accustomed to. After another day or so, she would be able to find him anywhere. The idea of it made her fingers twitch and her chest feel tight, however. Just like she'd told the Fuhrer the other day, Darna was not someone who worked well with others. She was bossy and felt like she could do most everything on her own. The idea that she felt alright working closely with anyone made her uncomfortable. At the sudden inclination that she was growing fond of Isaac, she straightened up her back and tapped his ankle with her cane.

The next second would have been Darna coldly telling Isaac they had to go, this business was quite over with, but the explosion that sent a heat wave over her back, stopped her speech. Her senses went crazy with the feel of fire, the rush of air in her ears, the smell of explosives and hatred. Her hair went flying around her face, leaving it wildly hanging on her shoulders. For a moment, anyone could think Darna was a mad woman from the streets.

"What in the hell--!" She turned, but saw nothing in the darkness. There was no alchemy. It was just a simple explosion. "Who are you!" She questioned, turning back to the owner of the body with alchemical symbols everywhere. They weren't on his body, but she could see them everywhere. "Why did that man try to kill you? And why was it a good thing you didn't get on that train?" Her questioning was harsh, but Darna was getting a little more than pissed off right now. Lifting her cane, she bopped the stranger on the forehead with it. "You're causing a lot of trouble, sir! And I have a train to catch! Now spit it out!"

Issac had to smile as he watched Darna make her way through the crowd. He had thought she might do something like this, as it seemed to him she was the type of person to get her way, though he hadn't expected the blind person comment. But then again, after seeing her with a cane constantly, he was a little suprised that she really could navigate so well on her own. Before the cane could fall from where she had left it he picked it up and followed after. It was much easier to follow her path then to try anything on his own, but just so as not to crowd the situation, he hung back a little.

Once Darna had spoken and turned back towards him, he noticed her back straighten a little, akin to how one looked after recieveing a static shock or something of the like. He closed the distance between them and quickly placed the cane back in her hand, and was about to ask if everything was alright when the explosion occured. At first, Issac's mind went blank, his raised arm had served as a heat shield, but as the heat died down he remembered the man who had quickly moved aboard the train when no one was looking. Could he have been the one to do this? Or was he still on there, in the wreckage somewhere?

"Miss Darna, please excuse me...I have to see about something." Issac says, placing his hand on her shoulder for a moment then rushing off towards the fire, his paper with the transmutation circle forgotten, and left to flutter from his hand and land on a piece of burning steel, where it was quickly consumed.

Knowing that there are water and other pipes running underground, once he gets close to the tracks Issac kneels down and places his hands on the ground, and a moment later pipes burst up and out of it. They turn towards the wrecked train and begin to spray it, lightly ar first, then with full effort, putting out fires and cooling the metal. Once it's done he seals the pipes off and rushes over to the wreck.

Moving around he looks for any sign of the man. There are no bodies, thankfully, but he does find a piece of charred black fabric, what looks like it might have been the corner of the mans cloak caught as he was exiting the train, having planted the explosive.

What was this man up to, and who was he for that matter? Issac wonders silently, hearing officers yelling at him from the platform by now. why did he seem...familiar?

Vincent had been just about to respond to the boy's words when he felt the ground shake and the air rent by the sound of an explosion. Chunks of the train rocketed out towards the platform, though no one was hit; Vincent looked from Darna to Isaac, to the kid, to the wreckage of the train, and then back. "What the hell just happened?" he muttered; even now, the traces of a grin remained on the corners of his lips. This should be interesting, eh... he thought even as the people around screamed, shouted, ran, and in general just panicked, as if there was anything more to be panicking about.

He watched Darna and Isaac move off; Darna towards the kid, and Isaac towards the wreckage of the train, leaving Vincent more or less on his own. Sticking his hands in his pockets and being quite useless considering his rank, Vincent simply strode over to the boy, interested as to what his answer to Darna's...er, inquiry would be. Vincent himself was amazed at how well Darna could navigate her way independently even when blind--it was a quality he found interesting at the very least. How could she lack the ability to see and sense with her eyes, yet 'see' everything around her so clearly, as if she not only could see, but could see better than anyone else?

((Sorry for the useless filler post V_V))

Riley took cover. With everyone in a panic, he decided to look around. At first, he didn't recognize anyone. But he could tell something was off. Not only had the crowds moved away, they had just caught him in an open area with state Alchemists nearby. Riley knew what would happen next. They would come in, and ether Riley would have to try and hold them off, and possibly still lose, or not fight back, and still lose.

As Darna approached him, he realized something. He recognized Darna. He knew if he stood here long enough, she alone might find out about him anyways. Then Riley got an idea. He asked Darna "Are you sure its safe here, it seems like we should follow the crowd out of here, make sure everyone is ok". Riley paused for a moment, remembering how she was ordering everyone around. "But im sure someone as smart as yourself already thought of that" he added. Riley took this as a good measure, as it usually helps.

Riley began getting the crowds to stay calm and leave the area. During which, he started walking near the end. He then paused. He saw someone... He was wearing things much like himself. He remembered seeing him somewhere before... Riley then heard movement. He looked at Darna and Vincent. However, when he looked back, the man was gone.... "Strange" Riley said to himself.....

(That good, kinda helped you (well tried/trying) with your plot Sov :D )(and can Darna actually sense Alchemy in people? If not, we could say he heard a rumor or something)

Isaac left and Vincent returned as the boy told her it would be a good idea to check on the crowd and to get themselves out. Turning her lifeless, sun glass covered eyes toward Vincent, she snorted and smirked. She was more than willing to fight if any one else planned on it. The State Alchemist beside her was always up for a game or two as well, at least that's what she knew of Vincent von Mark, the Puppeteer Alchemist.

Cocky bastard, she thought to herself. But the Colonel returned her attentions to the boy who'd been attacked and the alchemical symbols all over his person. She could tell they weren't tattoos, but he had them on almost every chakra on his body. Lifting her finger and placing it on the transmutation circle on his head, which turned out to be a his hat, she lifted a curving, white eyebrow.

"Why do you have so many transmutation circles on you?" Her voice was low and threatening, her thing index finger pressing. "Why were you attacked?" A familiar sense of alchemy warmed her back and she knew Isaac was doing his civic duty to the people and helping with the wreckage. A tiny smile curled on her lips. He was a good kid. There probably wasn't anything the Colonel could hold against him... ever. But she couldn't really worry about any of that at the moment. Her instincts as a member of the military and a Colonel in the State Alchemist branch were kicking in. She wanted safety for the people and this little one had been attacked.

"I can be a very scary person if I don't get the answers I need, kiddo." She was moving slowly closer to him, knowing she was towering. It was the curse of her father's line. Many tall woman were in her blood. It worked in times like this, however, when presence was determined by force, rather than psychology. "And, if I miss my train..." The Fuhrer would kick her ass, that's what would happen. Regardless of the situation. The mission was a little more than delicate, and hit home for him, so she had to make sure they were on time.

"If I miss it, terrible dark things will happen to you." She was starting to get a little over the top, but she really, badly needed a scotch in her system. Alcohol would calm her nerves. Mm, alchohol.

Riley looked at her....somewhat....well, he really doesn't know. He kept his journal hidden inside his backpack, and answered her "Well its not my fault that train blew up" he noted. "And if a recall, the..." Riley stopped momentarily. Another train was coming. He looked back at her and said "Everyone needs protection these days, and something is coming." Riley noted. "And also, you should know, i think we may be being watched" he said, looking over to before where he saw the man.

The train (probably lucky for all of them) had a bar car, as well as a good class accommodations. Riley could tell his best bet was to get on the train. He could tell any other action would not end up as well, as at least 12 men he could see that might be after him. Of course they checked the train instantly, making sure that wouldn't happen again. Riley decided on the best course of action. "Well i might as well catch the train too, i need to go check on something...." he said. He held out his hand and asked Darna if she needed help getting on the train in a nice voice. He had, although seemingly no one noticed, a cane, but he didn't actually need it....usually....

(hmm, lets see if we can start combining those little incidents to the general story :D )

With good reason was it that Blythe Meraine tended to keep her distance from the dreaded form of transportation known as “trains”. For one, she’d always been a bit…well, prone to motion sickness, no matter how fast the ride, if it wasn’t living, there was no way to avoid nausea. Ever. Then there was the whole issue of sanitation, space, and congestion. Trains had never exactly been the cleanest of inventions to begin with, running primarily on coal with little alchemical influence; of course it would be a horrible air pollutant. But add the force of people, filthy, varied things that they tend to be, and what before was only a bit disgusting becomes putrid.

Even so, Blythe could honestly probably have brought herself to not entirely despise trains, if it wasn’t for one additional thing. That one thing was none other than the probability that at any time, a train may experience an “accident”, or, as Blythe liked to think of them, “Guaranteed death”.

Still, the train-terrified Blythe found herself not only standing squarely in the middle of a train platform, but staring down the scene of an accident as well, and only moments before her own train, which she had foolishly agreed to ride, was scheduled to depart. Positively wonderful. Pouting ever so slightly at the development, as well as quickly giving a prayer that she’d not die in a spontaneous combustion sometime later that day, Blythe began to survey the scene for her current target. That target of course being the current grouping of a Victor von Mark, Darna Shaelladh, and one other.

It was not more than a few seconds later that she spotted her desire, a wry, triumphant grin coming to her lips once more as she all but pranced her way towards them. It wasn’t exactly so much that Blythe was unaware of the current tense atmosphere, as it was that she couldn’t help but feel an apparently victimless tragedy was largely unworthy of tarnishing her current good mood. Not that a fatal accident would be earning all that much sympathy either…remorse never had been one of her favored feelings.

Fluidly linking her left arm to Vincent’s right, Blythe appeared rather abruptly before the group, not saying a word to note her entrance and curiously eyeing the taller child in front of her. So now even children were taller then her, how depressing. Well, perhaps Darna could at least provide a bit of entertainment at the boys expense to make her feel better about her measly height. She always was talented at doing that. But then again, was Darna even the type to be proud enough to refuse assistance and make a big deal of it? She seemed like the type to do such, but it wouldn’t exactly be the first time she’d been wrong…

Glancing back over his shoulder, Issac could see that Darna and Vincent were both still talking to the boy. Of course he was curious as well, but right now he had more important things to worry about, like seeing that the train was repaired enough so that it could be moved out and the station reopened. There were parts of the train everywhere. Some of the officers had figured out he was a state alchemist when he showed his own watch, and now they were, among other things, gathering up what peices they could to he could put it all back together.

Once he had enough of the material to work with, Issac reaches into his bag and takes out a piece of chalk and drawns a detailed transmutation circle on the largest, most intact part of the train. A moment later, as his hands touch the metal, there is a surge of electricity in the air, a bright flash of light, and the train is back as it should be, though slightly smaller because not all the material was there.

"That should do it. Get someone to move this out of the way and you should be able to open the staion back up and begin loading the next train." Issac says to one of the officers, who salutes him. Then, with a small smile on his face, Issac repairs the ground and water pipes he used to cool of the wreck, then moves back over to the group, drying his hands on his jacket. "So, did I miss anything?"

Looking the group over now he notices a new woman, on Vincent's arm no doubt. His first instinct is to make a joke about it, but then he remembers that both Vincent and Darna, and for all he knows this boy, they all outrank him, and a joke at their expence might not go over too well. Although, he did have to admit, this all seemed a bit too odd. First the strange man, then the boy and the explosion, now this new woman. Finally he begins to realize just how complicated the life of a state alchemist can be.

Vincent had been about to say something to the boy when he noticed that an arm had linked itself to his right arm. He turned to glance at the woman, but he could only think of one female state alchemist who would actually do such a thing (since nearly all of them were so uptight, it could be a pain to a guy like Vincent). Indeed, his suspicions were confirmed when he turned (and then looked down slightly--he couldn't help but notice that) to see Blythe Meraine standing beside him. Immediately, it seemed, Vincent was twenty times more enthusiastic about the entire thing--and he had been quite enthusiastic to begin with.

"Blythe!" he exclaimed, out of nowhere it seemed. "So splendid to have the Brigadier General accompanying us, absolutely spiffing, let me tell you." As usual, Vincent began by running his mouth off--the presence of ladies seemed to have that effect on him. Unless they were the serious type, in which case he acted suave and sophisticated--though at the end of the day he usually ended up being soundly rejected, not that he minded that. Blythe, on the other hand, seemed to tolerate his ceaseless flirtation, and that was probably why he enjoyed her company, rare as he found himself with it. Vincent then noticed Isaac's glance at his arm linked to Blythe's, and (being Vincent), just had to address it. "Got something to say?" he demanded in a fake, confrontational tone; his face then broke into his signature grin. It seemed apparent that Vincent von Mark was clearly not the prim and proper military type--as if it wasn't clear enough.

"Anyway, since we seem to be boarding the train," he stood aside and bowed dramatically, gesturing with his hand to the train. "May I help you onto the train, dear lady?"

The little bastard was avoiding all her questioning. The Colonel didn't like that. And what's more, he started being nice to her and offered to help her onto the train. It felt like her fists needed to go through someone's face and the little one was standing right in front of her. It was tempting, but would have been pretty stupid on her part. Instead she turned around to greet the Brigadier General. She felt her presence just as she was walking up. Perhaps it was Blythe's demeanor that made Darna not react like a barbarian, or just the fact that Darna was getting really, really tired of everything right now.

"I just want to know what in the hell is going on." She cursed under her breath. Isaac had rejoined them, after kindly helping out the train station and the officers with the mess that had been made by said "mysterious man".

"Well!" Darna spoke rather loudly. "The Fuhrer never said this was going to be easy!" She turned and sighed at the boy with all the alchemy. "I don't trust you." She spoke plainly. "Thank you for the offer, but I want to make up my mind about you before I owe you any favors." With that she turned back toward the others she knew and trusted, mostly, and nodded.

"Which way to our train? I want a scotch immediately. And I need to speak with Taven as well." She stood and waited for anyone to tell her.

Taven would know what to do about her little... predicament. That train had been carrying someone. Something she'd read about, that Taven had taught to her as a young woman. She'd sensed it as they'd walked into the train station, but had been side-tracked by other happenings to notice where it had gone. Darna had to make sure that what she'd seen was really what she thought. If that were the case...

Her face blanked at the possibility. Could she still be...

"Yep, scotch." She whispered with another quick nod. "Anyone wanna speak up with directions? I need alcohol immediately."

Barely holding back a chuckle, Blythe matched her favorite companion’s theatrics with an over done curtsy of her own. “Ah, but how could I refuse such a gentlemanly offer as that?” she grinned her answer, placing her hand ever so softly into his own. “Though I suppose we might have to pick up dear Darna first, wouldn’t you agree?” With her free hand, the amused girl motioned towards the aforementioned woman, an expectant expression crossing her face as she did so.

Surely Vincent wouldn’t go against character after all, no self respecting prankster would ruin his own fun~ In the moments of waiting for a response though, was it that Blythe became aware of an oddly familiar face. A face she sworn she’d seen somewhere, but couldn’t for the life of her remember…Had it been that prison roster she’d been leafing through?...no, he didn’t much look the part of a criminal. Maybe the military asylum registration list she’d been reviewing?...but then he probably wouldn’t be out in public…Was it that new State Alchemist’s portfolio perhaps?...probably. Eh not much point in dwelling over such small details anyways…not when there was delicious alcohol to be had!

Looking away and scratching his head, Issac says nothing when Vincent notices him looking at the two of them. Blythe huh? Oh well, does it really metter who she is? She's on the creepy guy's arm. Looking away still, he listens as they talk, then turns to Darna when she speaks of the train and laughs a little. "I suppose we should go. Here Miss Darna, let's go."

Gently he takes her hand and places it back on his shoulder. He is half afraid, as he takes it, that she might mistake him for Vincent and judo slam him or something. Soon he leads her onto the train, and shows the ticket taker their tickets. The man nods, then directs them to a nice, first class cabin, with a full complimentary bar for the military. It takes Issac only a few moments to navigate them to their seats, but before he sits down Issac speaks to the ticket taker once more.

"Excuse me sir, my friends and I have sort of had a long day, what with the explosions and what not. Could you bring by some alchohol for them?" Issac asks the man with a smile.
"Um...sure. I'll send an attendent up here as soon as the passengers have all boarded and taken their seats." the man says, a little weary of Issac, wondering if he is old enough to drink, but knowing he is a state alchemist, so it probably doesn't matter one way or the other. "Excuse me..."

The man walks off and Issac takes his seat, laying his bag across his lap and leaning back, sighing and glad the chaos is, for the moment at least, over. Now maybe he can get some rest, and asj the others if they noticed the man. If anyone else had, it would probably be Darna, what with her abilities and all.

(sorry it's short)

The grin that was plastered across Vincent's face could only widen. Even a hopeless flirt like Vincent couldn't help but smirk when a girl like Blythe took his hand, even if she (like Vincent often was with other ladies) was not entirely serious. But he was not going to dwell on this--Blythe had turned back to Darna, and Vincent nodded, a malicious, trickster-like glint twinkling in the eyes, visible behind the light shades of his sunglasses.

"Indeed, Darna, you look like a boiling tea kettle just waiting to explode," Vincent began. But before he could continue (and probably for his own good), Isaac--as the young man's name turned out to be--took Darna by the hand and entered the train, displaying the uniformed man standing in front of it their tickets. Aw, go ahead, spoil the fun... Vincent thought to himself, amusedly. Seems we've got a long little train ride ahead...good thing I brought something to do...

As they were led to their compartment, Vincent laid the satchel that had been slung over his shoulder onto one of the seats, and retrieved a pair of books. Books were one of Vincent's greatest joys in life. If he had a satchel or a backpack at any time, it could be guessed--nearly always correctly--that there was at least one book in it. The book he happened to be reading at the moment was titled A History of Alchemical Artifacts and Abilities (he wondered briefly if the author was paid overtime for alliteration, but moving on). This was another subject that fascinated Vincent--the greatest alchemical powers and objects. He studied them eagerly, studying the world's most famous (and infamous) alchemical powers and their wielders, and history's most notorious and mysterious alchemical artifacts.

"Ah, no alcohol for me, please," Vincent quickly informed the man. Turning back to his companions, he explained, "Alcohol interferes with my alchemical ability."

Riley sat down, Vincent on the other side of the train across from him. Riley put his cane next to him. He took out the book "The Ways of Fire", a book about all the ways he could use fire Alchemy, and the story behind those ways. Many people had asked him about the book, he always replied "Reading is a hobby of mine, i like to read all sorts of things".Riley couldn't help but notice that something didn't seem right. He looked around. No one he recognized still.... You would think Riley would be better at not being found, but one way or another they found him.

Riley put down the book, taking out a sandwich. He ate half of it, and saved the other half for later. He then noticed that one of the workers had asked if he wanted anything (which was odd). "I'll have some milk please, need something to keep up my energy" he told him. He put a book mark in his book, and put it back in his pack. He looked up at Vincent. "So where are you guys going anyway?" he asked him.

As the Waiter came back with his milk, he then asked "What book are you reading?" At that moment, he noticed what book it was. Riley positioned his hat ever so slightly so that, hopefully, if there was a picture of him, he wouldn't notice he was him. The last thing Riley needed was for the military to follow him everywhere, since that would practically attract them to him.

Almost immediately upon spotting the alcoholic wonder, had Blythe stationed herself comfortably atop one of the bars two stools. A quick glance over the bar, along with the various liquors that inhabited of course, and Blythe had all but died of pure joy right there. There it was, standing so proud amongst its alcoholic brethren, the rare and elusive Everclear, most alcoholic of all drinks in existence. Oh what she would do for just one sip, let alone a shot…or three, as the case may be. As soon as that attendant found his way back to her, then it would be that she finally tasted the epiphany of all alcoholic beverages.

Until then, she would just have to occupy her time with idle conversation and playful flirtations, the usual. The former, however, sounded much more tempting as of the moment. “Vincent darling, why exactly is it that alcohol interferes with your abilities any ways? Simply intoxication making it dificult to work or…?” Blythe drawled curiously, twirling absently around on her comfortable bar stool as she spoke. When out of the office and away from those who she actually commanded, Blythe had always found little point in keeping up her image. As such, she was often to spend her rare moments free from her horrid office enjoying the little things in life. Like how incredibly fun swirly bar stools are…And completely cutting off overly large children’s questions in favor of her own, as the current case seemed to be.

Eh, in her defense though, the child had been acting much too suspicious to be up to any good. Probably a part of a drug cartel or something, they always were. They never even had any half decent substances either, truly they were an insult to alchemists everywhere with their horrid yield results.

Vincent glanced up as he realised the boy was now sitting beside him--apparently he had been this entire time without Vincent even noticing. Seems we have ourselves another little passenger on our quest...Though I truly doubt we should tell him anything about that quest. It seemed to Vincent that the best thing to do would be to just leave the kid off at the nearest stop; cruel, perhaps, but as state alchemists they had a duty to fulfill at the moment, and Vincent highly doubted having this young man aboard would do them much good. Nevertheless, he decided to answer the boy's question, and also noted his strange behaviour.

"It's called A History of Alchemical Artifacts and Abilities," he said as the waiter brought him a glass of water--though Vincent, it seemed, had not even asked him for one. At this point, he heard Blythe's query, and turned to answer it. He had no doubt that there was nothing to fear from telling Blythe that much about his power--the more...er, concerning aspects were not something she needed to know about. "Well, when you consider exactly what my abilities are and how they work, it's really not a good idea for me to risk even a bit of alcohol..." Among the many obvious things that could go wrong, there was one that Vincent thought of in particular--if he was not in full control of his judgment, it was possible that Vincent would forget his own limitations and overuse his power....and the consequences for that could be disastrous. In fact, he was already worried...on his last mission, was it possible that he had...?

Shaking his head to himself, he drove the thought out. As if seeking to make amends for its disappearance of only a moment, the grin returned to his face as he glanced back to Blythe. "But hey, doesn't mean we can't have a drink," he raised his glass of water, as if in a humourous toast.

Riley could tell the look on his face. And honestly, it actually relaxed Riley. If they knew who he was, they would not be so quick to let him disappear again. A waiter came by, offering Riley a drink of Ale. Ok, Riley knew he was mature, and that there was a shorter older person near him, but did the person really think he was over the drinking age. When Riley looked at him, he was already gone, the Alcoholic drink on the table. "Well...I must say, they do give a lot of free drinks" Riley noted.

Riley looked out the side of the train. A field of tree's was there. He looked back at Vincent. "You start the book? I read it myself, nothing much after page 121." He told him, then noting Except Page 243, the recent version has a page on the Elric Brothers." Riley looked down. Ed and Al...how he heard those names so many times from his mom... Riley let a slight tear escape his eyes. He wiped his eyes, and looked at everyone else. He noticed Issac.

Riley then took out his journal. He worked on some of the encoded bit. When the Waiter came over however, he raised it up. "No one can see this" he thought to himself. "No one, or else bad things could happen..." he mumbled barely.

Wow, i just saw these posts, lol ^_^' worry guys.

And lucky you leiori, I didn't anything near as strong as vicodin, just some moltrin or something like that...good luck though, hope you don't have screwy blood pressure like me and nearly bleed to death X_X'

I've been working on a Naruto rp site, so I've been busy as well, but I'll look this rp over and attempt to post sometime soon...

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

I'm sure most everyone here has been preoccupied with the Holidays. :) Merry Christmas, Happy Channukah, and Kwanzaa and so on and so forth. I will most likely post tonight, then won't post again until Sunday.

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

Sorry, sorry, sorry! °^° I completely forgot to mention that I was having my teeth pulled on monday @.@ been too doped up on vicodin to really function. Well, generic vicodin...and I look like a chipmunk now. _. Er but yeah, i'll try and post soon! Sorry again >.<

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

It's unlikely I'd ever fully leave...I just tend to vanish on occassion during the school year :P
Though my phone finally has internet and I can check up on ya more often X3

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

yay, you guys came back :D me so happy! i was starting to get a little worried about you guys to be honest.

anyway, i don't know if it was maintance or not, i've been getting a GENERAL ERROR message for the past 3 days that comes and goes. i sent emails but i'm not sure if an admin actually did anything or if it resolved itself, seeing as how everyone has been exerpiencing something of the like

now, back to the rp...i'm not sure about Rei either, she's been gone for nearly a month now i think, and left no word, so for now i feel we must press on. if you guys want to make some small reference to Vincent here or there i think that'd be alright...honestly i'll prolly keep forgetting to do so, lol...anyways, the fight doesn't have to be long, i'll end it either in this post or the next, depending on how things are going, and after that we make out way through the back roads to our destination

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

Well, I posted finally if that helps any Lovely(though, as usual as of late, it's not the best quality and I'm absolutely dreadful at fight scenes >.<...I really need to take a writing class v.v)
I'd say we could probably just skip over Vincent for the time being though, maybe make a reference to him being hit offguard/being knocked out...But it's ultimately Soul's decision I suppose :/

All I know is that I'm in the posting mood today and have some five other rps I need to go head to now...so, if there's a post when I return to this rp, I'd be very likely to respond for once :P
And I'm totally not trying to goad anyone into posting because I really want to read awesomely written posts. Nope, not at all >.> <.< ._.

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

>P Poopie. Well, I understand, I've had to take breaks like that before. It would have been nice had she told us (if that is in fact what's going on). Anywho, I guess we should keep going? -shrug- I'll do whatever you all's do. :D

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

I keep on getting kicked off due to site maintenance :/
Which, I think everyone else is getting as well, if the lapse in OOC activity over 5+ hours means what I think it means :/
Otherwise, I'm going insane.

Oh, and I think Rei might have taken another vacation from Roleplaygateway ._.; She hasn't been on much as of late v.v

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

My computer in my room is 99% of the time says Roleplaygateway wont work, so i might not be able to post as much as i would like too.

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

I'm HERE! I've just been waiting. ... :(

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

lol, nice. good luck with the hunting of the ellusive Computor! >:}

um...anyway. poisons? huh, hadn't thought about it. i suppose they would affect him, but it would take time...if it was a paralitic poison, it would take a few minutes longer than normal to work, and after it did start to work it would probably only be half as strong...

oh, and the DtB rp is up
http://www.roleplaygateway.com/roleplay/darker-than-black-dark-tides/
feel free to join whenever if you want, still working on my characters ^_^'

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

Sweetness! I spot me some Activity :P Huzzah! Now I just need to find a computer and not my droid :3 twould take me hours to we're a response on this keyboard XD

Does War have any weakness to poison btw? Or is he immune/resistant?

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

lol, nice ^_^

like i think i said before, my idea is for this to all take place either in Japan or somewhere else, maybe America...Contractors are now public knowledge, some of them are good and just trying to live their life, others are bad and using their powers to commit crimes and manipulate people for their own ends...but there is the syndicate, studying them, wanting them dead, still using them to kill one another...PANDORA is still there, but it has joined with the star gazer people and they just study the stars and Contractors and all

for plot, there are 2 main groups of Contractors, one good, fighting for the rights of their kind, the other bad, mainly just in general.
Group 2 seem like just your average thugs and crooks and such, but in reality they are working on a way to kill off the humans, so that only Contractors will be left on Earth

our characters, prolly all Contractors, will have to decide our places. join one of the groups, try to stop one of the groups, or stay the heck out of the way...any of that sound good? cause honestly i just pulled all that outta thin air ^_^'

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

Okily dokily! And I finally finished the anime, and you're right, it doesn't really matter about the RP. The syndicate is still there, Hei is somewhere out there, the Contractors are becoming more like humans, blah blah blah... nothing really changes in the end. It's kinda nice.

Can't wait to get started! And can't wait to get back into the Alchemist RP! :D:D:D:D

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

sorry i was gone for so long guys, my computer crashed >=[

anyway, glad to see you are interested in the DtB rp, and sorry i spoiled it for you Lovely. for my rp, i'm thinking you don't really need to know much about the show, just the basics of Contractors...because, aside from what physically happened in the anime, i have no clue wtf is happening XD

i'll prolly start work on the DtB rp later tonight, and i'll put a post up soon too. right now i'm having to restore my links and such on the computer, but i'll get on everything asap

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

Sounds interesting, and guys, psot up! Cmon! I need to get to the part where war punches me into a tree on the path you guys are taking!

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

My post, like many others it may seem, is lacking in the creative area. But that's what happens with these slow spots. ONWARD WITH THE ACTION! :D:D:D:D:D

Where is Rei?

**Edit - About the DtB roleplay, I am intrigued. I would love to enter a character I've been toying with for a while.
My only problem is that I haven't finished the series yet. Some of your post was spoiler-ish to me. :( Not blaming you though, I should have finished the anime LOOONG ago! (That kinda rhymed teehee)
Anywho, what I'm saying is, I'm in (As you well know) but as far as plot goes... I don't know much about Evening Primrose so the analogy doesn't work for me and I'm pretty much useless in constructing plots at the moment.

My head aches horribly. >P bleeehhh on physical ailments. I'm too young for this crap.

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

Hurray for complete filler post that had no express purpose other than to result in some ACTION! >:P Huzzah! *cough* Er, but yes, sorry 'bout filler post, I've got nothin at the moment...except mildly bunnying Vincent ahead >.>

Oh! And I might be interested in a Darker than Black Rp, but I haven't actually read/watched the series yet >.> :3

Re: [OOC] A 2nd Tale of Transmutation

it seems like everyone just sorta dropped off the face of the earth...

anyway, my rp idea. i've only seen the anime, no manga, and i guess there are different seasons of the show so i'm guessing what i saw was the first or original one...anyway, my plot, what i have so far...

10 year have passed since Hai kept Hell's Gate from being destroyed. Contractors are known by all, some because they're fighting to gain their place among the humans, some for the crimes they commit using their powers. the story will focus on a new group, similar to Evening Primrose, trying to gain rights for all Contractors, while The Syndicate is still trying to turn all the rest of the world against them

Heaven's Gate still cannot be harmed, and Hell's Gate is protected by law since it was made known that if it were to be destroyed an entire race would be wiped out. so they have to come up with a way to take out the Contractors without destroying the gate. to do this they are wiping out the memories of some Contractors and using them to commit crimes, like stealing things, killing important people, things like that

so far that, and a few characters, is all i've got. i was thinking that the leader of the new group gets taken in to custody, and they alter his/her memories, and so they start becoming more agressive. and maybe it's up to our group of characters to take her down, but without destroying the group...

like i said, i don't have much and any help would be appreciated
