Kaylee dodged through the scaffolding of the construction site, racing as fast as she could to get away from the man that was chasing her. Glancing back, she looked at the walls of the scaffolding and cast an illusion, making them appear on fire. However, the man seemed too smart for that. She knew he was one of the people that had taken many of her friends and family members. Glancing down over the edge, she winced as she realized the height she was at. Kaylee looked back in front of her and couldn't help but grin as she saw an opening in the slats and ran for it, turning sideways as she reached it and sliding down into the splits. Expecting to fall through, Kaylee was startled when she didn't- the slats were slightly too narrow for her, leaving her stuck on this level with the man approaching quickly.
Glancing up, Kaylee made eye contact with the man and bit her tongue to prevent herself from screaming in pain. However, she was startled when her power didn't work, even though it still caused her pain. Desperately, she struggled to her feet and took off running, head pounding. Tripping, she writhed as she felt a hand grab the back of the over shirt she was wearing on top of a green tank top. Still squirming, she felt a hand clamp over her mouth, but she promptly bit it in retaliation. As the hand left her mouth, she kicked behind her, landing her foot between the man's legs. Snickering as she was released, Kaylee took off running once more, heading for the small lift that she knew was near. As she reached it, however, a bullet grazed her shoulder, slicing the skin.
Clutching her shoulder, she stepped into the lift and headed down to the ground level, heading out of the construction site, but pausing just outside to catch her breath. Glancing around her, she stuck to the shadows as she headed back to her cousin, who was waiting in an alleyway just around the corner.


Ianto paced the length of the alleyway, two backpacks and a duffel bag slung over his shoulder.

"Where is that girl?" his tone was impatient as he muttered the words, receiving an odd look from the homeless man sitting beside the dumpster in the middle of the alley.
Frowning at the man, Ianto jogged over and touched the guy's forehead. "This is a mercy." as his finger made contact, electricity passed from Ianto to the man, killing him almost instantly.

Sighing, Ianto pushed the body behind the dumpster before climbing onto the large bin so that he could reach the fire escape that had been built for the shop he was next to. Climbing up precariously, trying to balance the bags on his shoulders, he reached the top and took a seat in the middle of the roof. After several minutes of waiting, he crawled to the edge of the building, leaving the bags behind him as he peered down at the street, trying to pick out his sister from the afternoon crowd. Seeing her, he grinned and waved as she looked up and waved back. Five minutes later she was up on the roof with him splitting a loaf of bread into four pieces.

"Are the twins back yet?" Kaylee inquired and Ianto shook his head.
"No idea. They were supposed to be out getting something, but I don't remember what." he replied, shrugging as he took a bite of his piece.

Sighing, Kaylee munched on her portion as well as she rummaged through her lime green backpack, which she had sat next to, for something. Retrieving a bottle of water, she unscrewed the lid and took a gulp before offering it to Ianto, who drank from it gratefully. Returning the cap to the bottle, Kaylee dropped the bottle back into her bag and resumed eating, rocking back and forth to a song that was playing within her mind.

Quinn walked aimlessly through the town, what else could she do. She knew no others like herself and if she did, they had already been caught. As she walked by a electronic store. She saw her uncle's face once more on the screen. "Thank you for saving me and now I'm going to save you....just as soon as I can get some help." She continued walked until she came to construction site. She wasn't paying attention and ran right into someone. "Oh I'm sorry."

Danielle

Danielle motioned for Danny to follow. Her twin brother had been getting distracted by every noise. She through the construction site until she saw Kaylee running away from a man. As Kaylee ran, Danielle followed quietly with her brother in tow. She stopped and watched Ianto kill the man. Once the man was dead, Danielle followed them. They didn't know she was behind them. She waited until they came to a stop and popped up next to them.

"Hi guys!" she said happily.

Danny

Danny followed his sister as she stalked her best friend. It was weird and he never understood her, but he had to deal with it anyway. He saw Ianto kill the man that was following Kaylee and kept himself from say something like, "Dude, that was awwsome!" It was just like him. He talked to Ianto every once in a while when their sisters hung out and they had to stick with them. Danielle finally made herself known to them when they started eating. He smiled at her typical oddness.

"Hey, guys. We went to go see if we could find any weapons laying around, but didn't get lucky. We will have to learn to use our powers to our advantage." he said knowing that it was really only his that he needed to learn to use to their advantage.

It wasn't really useful to take anyone's emotional pain. How could he end up with an ability so useless? There was no way he could use that to defeat the enemy. He took his black backpack off and opened it to grab his ham sandwich. Danielle grabbed her black backpack with duct tape all over it and pulled out her peanut butter sandwich.

"How can you eat a sandwich with just peanut butter in it?" he asked.

Alex wandered endlessly. He was completely lost. More then that, he was lost and confused. He had no clue where he was or what time it was. All he knew is that he got lost. Again. He looked around. Okay, it was kind of easy to get lost in the sewer system. But it was the easiest way to get around without being seen. Barely anyone went down there. And it was incredibly easy to pop out at night, sicne most of the manholes were located in alleyways and non busy streets. A little placement for workers so they don't obstruct roads.

He sighed, and looked around. He then checked his cell phone. "Holy Crap! I have a Signal down here?!?!?!" he said, shocked.

Kaylee squeaked, jumping to her feet and turning around as Danielle popped up beside her. "Oi! You almost gave me a heart attack! If you had, what would Ianto here do for food, since neither of you brought something to contribute?" she teased playfully, tossing a quarter of the loaf of bread to Danielle and another quarter to Danny, grinning cheerfully.
"Danny, I think when you're hungry enough you'd eat anything. I for one am starving, so..." she trailed off, taking a bite of the bread quarter she had.

Before she sat down, Kaylee hopped up and jogged to the edge of the building, laying down on her belly and peering over the edge, watching passerby. Out of the corner of her eye she noticed a girl talking to someone that she couldn't quite make out. Shrugging it off, she continued to peer around and, after some thought, she removed her cell phone from her jacket pocket, having kept it despite some dislike from her comrades. Flipping through her contact list, she came across a friend that she knew was like them. Hitting call, she waited for Alex to answer the phone, if he was even still alive or had a signal.




Ianto remained silent as Danny and Danielle arrived, offering only a courteous nod of greeting since he was too lost in other thoughts to provide a spoken greeting. As Danny informed the group of what they had been looking for, Ianto had an idea.

"I can get us into some place with weapons. Two of us. And get us out again. I'm pretty sure it will work, but I'll have to be one person and the other one will have to do everything once we get there. Separating and transporting takes a lot of energy," Ianto was serious, but offered a half smile at the last part, "but I can do it. If we decide to do it I'll probably bring you, Danny, if you're up for it." At his final statement, Ianto gestured toward Danny to suggest that he wasn't just saying Danielle's nickname.

Glancing over at Kaylee, he raised his eyebrows at her cell phone use, but said nothing, hoping that her judgement was sound in this case.

"I could take Kaylee, but I would prefer not since her only fighting power is through possession and illusion and a. she can only possess one person at a time and b. she cannot possess people and create illusions at the same time as well as c. when she possesses someone it is painful for her and it leaves her body susceptible to attack- a problem I will be too," he hesitated, searching for a word other than 'drained', "a problem that I will not be able to help with at the time."

Alex was then also shocked to hear footsteps. Human Footsteps. He looked for a hiding spot, and spotted an old pipe. He knew for a fact it wasnt being used because it was incredibly out dated, so no worries of sewage randomly hitting him. He climbed in, and as they passed, Kaylee called, and they looked down the sewer tunnel he was in. And then of course, they spotted him. They shot at him, but he used his telekinesis to get rocks to block the way as he answered Kayle"Oh hi Kaylee, you doing okay? I'm doing good by the way. So, anything ne...." he he started, only for some the sound of a few bullets wizzing by him.

"Ummmm, can i put you on hold for a sec? Kay Thanks" he told her, returning all his attention to the people attacking him. After a little Telekinesis action, he hit them on the head....with their own guns.....so hard, it knocked them out. He then returned to the phone. "Okay im good. By the way, have you seen Danny or Danielle recently?"

Danielle

I rolled my eyes at my twin brother and smiled at my best friend, Kaylee.

"Peanut butter is amazing. Duh!" I said.

I sat next to Kaylee as she got on the phone and listened to Ianto tell Danny something. Apparently he knew something about a place where they could get weapons. I listened as he explained that he would have Danny go with him. That was my chance to be able to show Ianto that I'm not some wimpy girl. I stood up and looked at them.

"I'm coming too." I said.

Danny shook his head at me. I raised and eyebrow and crossed my arms.

"Why not?" I asked.

"Because, you can get hurt and someone needs to stick with Kaylee." he said.

I laughed. He was being ridiculous.

"Then why don't we all go? We can all use our abilities to make things a bit easier." I argued.

Danny shook his head, stood up, and pushed down on my shoulders so that I ended up sitting too. I looked at Ianto and then quickly looked away and back to Danny. Danny caught on and chuckled.


Danny

I laughed as soon as I realized that my sister had a cruch on Ianto. Who would have thought? That must have been why she wanted to go with us so bad. I looked at Ianto and smiled. It would be mean of me to embarrass my sister in front of him by telling him that she liked him. I also had to admit that I sort of liked Ianto's sister. Danielle was facing away from ianto, probably hoping that he didn't notice her reaction. Her face was bright red as she looked at me with a look saying, "You better not say anything." She was lucky that I didn't plan to say anything...until him and I left.

"Danielle, how about you just stay here with Kaylee? Like Ianto said, things can happen and we can't afford to have to deal with that."

Danielle nodded. I could tell she wasn't happy with it, but she probably didn't want to embarrass herself again.

After a moment's thought, he nodded to Danielle, "Alright. Finish your sandwich and let's go. We aren't bringing anything extra. Danny," he hesitated, "take care of Kaylee."

At that, Ianto turned and began going through his backpack, pulling out two baseball caps: one dark blue and one black.

"Here." he held the black cap out to Danielle. "It'll keep them from seeing us on the cameras before I disable them."

With his free hand, he pulled the dark blue baseball cap over his brown hair, pulling the bill down to shadow his face.

About thirty seconds after Danielle had finished her sandwich, he headed toward the edge of the roof. "Come on. We need to find an outlet."

Hopping down onto the fire escape ladder, he swung down, landing on the closed dumpster below, knees bent to absorb the shock. Climbing down, he stretched, waiting for Danielle.




"Hey Alex, I'm fine." she waited while he did something.
When he came back, she smiled, "Yeah, they're sitting less than five feet from me." she laughed, "Listen, is there somewhere we can meet up? I think we'll have a better chance if we all stick together."

While she waited for an answer, she played with her hair, twirling the curly dark brown strands around her fingers.

Looking over her shoulder, she covered the mouthpiece of her cell phone. "Oi! Ianto! Where are you going?" she called to her cousin, but received no answer.

Frowning, she sighed and uncovered her phone, waiting for Alex to speak once more.

"Ummm, well, depends, are you near any sewer exit or entrance. Also, you want a M4 Assault rifle, just took a few from soem people i knocked out in the sewers" he told her, picking up their weapons. And their wallets while he was at it. "I think im under the library. This is only a guess because remember that one time i found that crazy person shoving books into the toilet? Well, im looking at one of those books now....." he noted, not wanting to discuss the condition of the book. The Library doesnt want it back, thats for sure.

"Also, i found some snack bars on the guards in case your hungry. And a bag of chips, unopened. And some......keys? Well thats not edible, but they might come in use eventually. Anyways, where are you? You know any good spot to meet up? We should probably wait till night. Unless you have sewer access that is" he told and asked her.

Danielle

I grinned when Ianto said I could go. I finished off my sandwich. Ianto had handed me a black cap. I imitated him by pulling the bill down to shadow my face. With one last happy glance at Danny, I followed Ianto off the edge of the roof. Once I was next to him, I smiled.

"So, which direction?" I asked.


Danny

I glanced at Kaylee when Ianto mentioned her. She was still on the phone with someone. When I turned back around to face Danielle, she was smiling like an idiot as she followed Ianto off the edge of the roof. I rolled my eyes and sat next to Kaylee.

"Who are you talking to?" I asked.

I was bored and curious. I had always liked Kaylee. Her personality was very interesting and I couldn't help but admire her for it. I tried to listen in as best I could to the other person. I had to strain to hear their voice. It sounded like Alex. Where was he?

At Danielle's question, Ianto paused, thinking. "This way." he headed toward a nearby housing block, hopping over a fence when he got to it to find himself in someone's backyard.

Immediately, he headed for the house, kneeling by the wall once there, his fingers automatically removed the cover over the power outlet. As soon as Danielle came close enough, he extended one hand.

"Get ready. We only have one shot at this. You are not to try and help me, got it? I mean, unless someone's shooting at me, don't bother trying to help. I just need to be conscious enough to get you back. And," he hesitated, "if all else fails I should be able to send you back without my being there." it was easy to see his priorities were set on keeping Danielle safe, even at the cost of his own freedom.

As soon as she seemed ready, at least to him, he reached out and loosely grabbed her hand, shutting his eyes as he moved. His other hand scrabbled at the outlet, before he seemed to find the right spot and he simply sat there for a moment. Within seconds, though, an expression of pain spread across his face and they were being pulled into the outlet, whether they wanted to be or not. It was truly amazing to be racing through the inky black inside of a cord, though for some reason it was still light. However, all that Ianto was seeing were the insides of his eyelids as he tried to concentrate, despite the tall waves of pain crashing over him. And then it was over and they were somewhere dark- a closet, probably, but there was enough light for Danielle to see that Ianto was struggling not to writhe in pain, an obvious fact, should she choose to look at him.

"Go!" he gasped, gesturing with one arm for Danielle to go do what they came to do.




"Yeah, we're right across the street from the library, I think. Also, that rifle may be a good plan, so long as you don't come on up and make it obvious you have it." Kaylee smiled slightly.
"Alex." she turned to look at Danny, grateful for his presence. "Alex, why are you in the sewers, anyway?" she wrinkled her nose, but smiled.
"And that food sounds good, but I'm not sure I want to eat chips and snack bars you found on guards in the sewers, whether they are unopened or not." she laughed a little, but quickly fell silent.

Danielle

I followed Ianto over the fence and into the yard. He extended his hand and she shyly took it. An expression of pain came upon his face. I wanted to know what it was that was hurting him, but before I could say anything, we were sucked into the outlet. Once it was over, I looked at him. He looked like he was in horrible pain.

"Ianto, what's wrong?" I asked.

I didn't know much about his powers. That was the scary part. If something happened, I wouldn't be able to just leave him in his misery. I would never do that. He should know. He told me to go, but I waited for him to hopefully recover.

Danny

I listened to Kaylee tell Alex where we were. Apparently he was in the sewer. Gross. I smiled when Kaylee did. Of course Alex was in a sewer. It was an odd place to hide so of course he would be the one hiding there. I listened as Kaylee continued talking to him. Food? In the sewer?

"Supplying a girl with food from the sewer is not how you get them." I said teasingly to Alex.

Hopefully he heard me. I was leaning in close enough to the phone when I said it. I looked at Kaylee to see her reaction. That was the whole point of the comment.

"Massive energy drain, plus I just separated us into individual molecules, which I then transported over a mile or so and reassembled. I'm surprised I'm feeling this good." his voice was low and choppy as he tried to hide the pain.
Managing to get to his feet, he gestured toward the door, "Lead the way. I won't be much help, but I'll do what I can."

With a grimace, he made sure his face was completely shadowed by the baseball cap.

Damn, I hate my powers. Why did I have to be an electric freak? I'm lucky I can touch people most of the time without electrocuting them!

Furious thoughts raced through Ianto's head, disappearing only as he glanced at Danielle.

I guess it's not all that bad, though. I mean, I would be down a couple friends, and a cousin, without them... I just hope we don't get caught and killed here today.

The thought made him blush slightly and he hoped that his face was shadowed enough that Danielle couldn't see it. As he pulled out of his thoughts and came back to reality, however, a new wave of pain came over him, but not from the trip they just made. Gritting his teeth, his knees almost buckled and he clung to the wall with one hand to try and stay upright.

"Some sort of," he paused, gasping for breath, "field or something over the building. It's like," another pause as the pain built, "like pesticide, but for people like me. With electric powers." he gestured toward the door slowly. If Danielle could see his face, she would see the sweat beading there as he struggled to keep the pain hidden. "Go. I'll be right behind you."



Kaylee laughed at Danny's comment, sure that Alex had heard it. Truthfully, she had crushes on both of the boys and wasn't quite sure which of them she favored. She had figured out very quickly how to hide the fact from both boys, or so she hoped.

"Yeah, I'm not sure I would like to date a guy that brought me sewer munchies." she laughed, a smile dancing across her lips.

Absently, she picked at the torn threads of the sleeve of her shirt, evidence of the bullet graze earlier, which had already begun to scab over.

"Well, i was just asking you know. No harm is asking, especially sicne i didn't know if you had eaten anything in the last day or two. Iv been hiding down here since it was a easy place to hide. No one barely comes down here, and it runs throughout the city, so at night, i could pop out anywhere and go into a place with whatever money i had left. Although i did snag these guys credit cards and wallets, if that helps.

He then telepathically noted to Danny "And you forget, i have Telepathy, AKA, i can hear your thoughts....". He couldn't help but smirk a little. He wasn't quite sure how his powers were able to do that over the phone, but he guessed it was because it had something to do with the brain and brains use electricity and phones use electricity. That was his guess anyways. Well, actually, he couldn't telepathically connect with Ianto if Ianto tried to keep him out, since he had electric based powers. He was pretty good at reading everyone else tho, although at times, it becomes difficult if there is a lot of emotion rising up or something, as it teneded to block the thoughts.

He then noted "So how far are you from the library, and in what dirrection? It shouldnt be too hard to see the large building from where ever you are" he noted, looking around. He then noted "And have you heard anything.......anything about......our parents?" he asked, afraid to ask however.

Danny

I rolled my eyes at Alex's telepathic message. Normally, I would have wondered where the words in my head were coming from, but this powers things wasn't new anymore. I glanced at Kaylee and couldn't help but smile as she did. Her comment to Alex made me a bit nervous. Did she like him? I suddenly became more self-observant. I noticed that she had a small wound where she fingered her shirt.

"Kaylee? What happened to your shoulder?" I asked, ignoring Alex if he was still talking to her.

I glanced at the phone in her hand and leaned in closer so he could hear me through it again.

"She has to go. You can find your own way to the library. It isn't that hard. And by the way, maybe you should learn to separate the voices in yuor head from the voices coming from the phone." I said teasingly.

I didn't want it to seem like I was being mean to Alex on purpose or they might know that I like Kaylee.


Danielle

I didn't move an inch. Ianto spoke. His voice was...not his normal one. Covering the pain didn't work very well. I knew him better than that since Kaylee was my best friend and I hung around them quite often.

"Ianto, if you're in pain then we shouldn't be here. It isn't worth it. We can find weapons somewhere else." I said in a concerned tone.

Not too long after I said it, he seemed to be in even more pain. I moved next to him and wrapped an arm around him so I could help support him.

"Ianto, we need to leave right now. I'm not going to let you do this." I said sternly.

I didn't want him to hurt himself anymore than he already was. I could tell the pain he was feeling must have been excrutiating.

"No." Ianto clenched his teeth, "I knew it would hurt. I suggested it. We're going through with this. Just- we need to hurry."

He pulled away from Danielle's arm and opened the door, but paused before he exited the room, small sparks flying from his hand, which was on the wall.

"No need to worry about cameras. Or anyone that was touching the wall. Let's go."

Stepping out of the room, he used the wall to support himself as he worked his way down the hall, peering into rooms as he passed them. Finally he seemed to find what he was looking for.

"Here." he called out quietly, glancing back where he had last seen Danielle.




Kaylee was about to answer Alex when Danny said she had to go. The edges of her mouth turned down ever so slightly as she answered the telepathic boy.

"I already told you we're across from the library. I'll meet you there in an hour, okay? Get a shower or you're not getting a hug." she laughed at the last part, but said it seriously. She didn't plan on hugging someone that had been hanging out in the sewers for the last who-knows-how-long.
Hitting the end call button on her cell phone, she tucked it into her pocket and raised an eyebrow at Danny. "Is that jealousy I heard?" she couldn't help teasing him lightly about it. It was rare that she heard anything like that from him.
Returning to pulling at the loose threads where her sleeve was torn, she shrugged, "Got shot at earlier searching for supplies.

Before Kaylee hung up, Alex noted, loud enough for Danny to hear "don't worry, I havnt touched any sewage, and I'd be cleaner then Danny regardless". He then made his way to an exit, climbing out somewhere in the area I'd them. However, as he came out into an alley, some guy carrying a gallon of water on his bike was startled and swerved out of the way and into the wall. The container broke open and Alex was sprayed with water. He sighed, and focus his telekinesis to get the water off him. "Well, now I know for a fact I'm cleaner then Danny" he noted to himself, with a small laugh. He began looking for them. Which didn't take that long since they were around the corner.

"Well, how is...." he started, then noticing that Kaylee had a tear on her shirt and asked "are you okay? What did I miss?". He then also shot a slight mini-glare at Danny for half a sec, and went over to them. "did something happen?" he asked, forgetting about the KOed guy in the other alley. He then added "And where is Dani and Ianto?"

Danny

I rolled my eyes at Alex's final comment. He would only be cleaner than me in his dreams. I heard Kaylee's comment and tried to ignore it, but failed and ended up blushing.

"Um, no? Nevermind, it doesn't matter. You are wounded. Does it hurt at all?" I asked.

I was feeling just fine until Alex came from around the corner.

Great, look who finally figured out how to get here.

I caught his glare that lasted only for a second and moved right next to Kaylee. I looked at Alex to see his reaction when he spoke. He wanted to know where Danny was? I'm right here. Why would he want to know where I am? Wait. He must have been talking about Danielle.

"Your precious Danielle is with Ianto. Are you jealous?" I teased.


Danielle

I didn't want to make him hurt himself by taking forever, so I ran quickly in the direction that he told me to. I hated that he had to be in pain for this to work.

"Ianto, I really don't want you to do this to yourself. You leave and I will carry out the rest of the plan." I instructed.

I caught up to him and peeked into the room that he was looking in. As soon as I saw what he was talking about, I grabbed it and ran out of the room with Ianto's hand in mine. He was in pain, but the sooner we got out the better.

"Hurry. the quicker we get out of here, the quicker the pain ends." I said to him as I continued to pull him back to the room we came from.

Kaylee was about to answer Danny when Alex arrived. Rolling her eyes, she sighed and stood up.

"I'm going to the library." she swung her backpack onto her shoulder, but left her duffel bag behind.
"Every little tear. It's like I'm glass." Kaylee muttered as she walked away, knowing very well that the boys could still hear her.

Quickly climbing down the fire escape, she climbed lightly to the ground and headed across the street. Stepping into the library, she headed to the bathroom and splashed water on her face, washing off what dirt was there. After, she headed into one of the stalls and changed into a red tank top beneath a black vest. Heading back into the library, she made a beeline for the teen section and immediately picked out a book titled Crescendo. She had just finished reading the first book and was very happy to start the second one.




"No." Ianto's voice was almost a growl as he answered Danielle. "If I leave you will be stranded. Not my plan."

As she ran into the room, he followed her, swiping some of the numerous smaller weapons that were lining the walls. Following Danielle back out, he let her take his hand, but pulled her into the next room down. Within minutes footsteps passed by and Ianto could hear them stop at the room they had just left. Within a minute he could feel the electric field that was over the entire place get cranked up a couple notches, spurring a whimper from Ianto, who could feel blood trickling from his nose. He knew the field would have no effect on Danielle, but he was struggling to hold back a fit of coughs. He stumbled toward the back of the room, shaking, and pulled Danielle along with him. He searched blindly along the walls for something electrical and was relieved when he found a switch. Clutching at it, he felt himself be sucked inside, only for even more excruciating pain to explode through him. A minute later they had fallen through the other side, back in the backyard they had left from, and Ianto was on the ground a foot or so away, nose bleeding, blood splattering on the grass in front of him as he coughed. His entire body was shaking at this point and he was ready to pass out, but not quite.
Struggling to his feet, he stumbled forward, heading for the fence he had been able to climb over so easily earlier. Now he was lucky he didn't hit the concrete on the other side.

Danielle

I was about to reply, but changed my mind when Ianto pulled me into another room. It wasn't long before I heard the footsteps. I looked over at Ianto. His nose was bleeding.

"Ianto." I mouthed.

Not too long after, he found a light switch and we were back in the backyard. I hopped over the fence with him and pulled him into the bushes with me.

"Hang on. you aren't going anywhere until you are well enough to run again. And don't tell me you are, because i can tell you aren't." I said in a serious tone.

I was worried about him. That was when I remembered her powers. I had the ability to take the physical pain from anyone and put it on myself. Slowly, I focused on relieving him of his pain. Bit by bit, I started to feel it. His nose was still bleeding, but it felt like mine was supposed to be. That was how it worked. I take the pain, he keeps the injury. It wasn't good enough for me. I continued to take the pain from him until I couldn't see it in him any longer. It was starting to hurt. Bad.


Danny

I looked at Alex with a confused look. What did she mean by she's like glass? I realized that I was letting her go off by herself. I stood up and quickly caught up with her in the library. She was looking at a book.

"Hey. I'm sorry if it seems like I treat you like you are 'like broken glass'. I just...I don't want...um...Ianto would get mad at me if anything happened to you on my watch. You know how he is." I said nonchalantly.

I almost told her that I didn't want anything to happen to her and that I just wanted her to be safe. That would have been a big mistake. I couldn't have her knowing yet. I watched her look at the book and waited for a response. It was getting really annoying that Alex was here. I would have to find a way to keep him away from me.

"No. We have to get back to the others." Ianto coughed, blood splattering on the leaves in front of his face.

Suddenly, he could feel the pain go away, but frowned as he saw it appearing on Danielle's face. Coughing once more, he rubbed his arm across his face, trying to get rid of the blood running down it. He still had some of the pain, but it didn't show anymore. Seeing the pain on Danielle's face, he knew exactly what she was going through, so he promptly picked her up and carried her back toward the others, jogging as smoothly as he could.




"Ianto has better things to worry about then my well being. He knows I can take care of myself well enough. What's your excuse?" Kaylee spoke bluntly, not caring if her words hurt him or not.

Frustrated, she ran her fingers through her hair, curly brown locks bouncing as they fell back into place. With a sigh, she shut her book and stuck it back on the shelf, too distracted to concentrate on the printed words.

Pacing now, she let words tumble from her mouth quietly, just loud enough for Danny to hear. "Yes, it's a bullet graze. Yes, I got shot at. Yes, I'm fine. No, I am not a piece of glass. I am a human being, just like you, and I don't need someone to kiss every little cut and tell me everything will be okay, because I know it won't be." Kaylee was sniffling now, holding back angry tears.
"Sorry." she whispered an apology and after a moment, she shifted subjects.
"Anyway, I know you're cleaner than Alex. I think you've actually showered in the last couple days. Him I'm not so sure about."

Suddenly, she threw her arms around Danny and hugged him, standing on tip-toes to put her head on his shoulder.

Alex was slightly confused, but he decided to follow them, since he was tired of being alone and had just found them. Of course, that's when he saw trouble coming, or to be specific, 8 of the mayor's "SWAT", as he keeps hearing them called. He ran after them to warn them. He turned a corner, only to catch the end part. Which annoyed him. He sighed, and made a note of revenge later. But right now, safety first.

"Um, guys, we might want to get out of sight. Now." he told them. He then added "I saw 8 of them headed this way...". He looked around for a place to hide. "Is it me or are we trouble prone?" he joked slightly, although it was a real question. He then noted "I saw a storage closet that way. Or the basement that way...." he pointed them out, trying, and succeeding pretty well, not to panic.

Danielle

I grimaced as Ianto picked me up. Pain exploded inside me. I watched his face the entire time I was in his arms. I needed something to distract me from the pain.


Danny

I wrapped my arms around Kaylee as she hugged me. After a while I pulled her back and ran a hand through her hair. It was cute the was she dyed it. My attention snapped to the annoying asshole who decided to follow us in. I smirked at him before he gave us the news that we had even more company. I looked at Kaylee again and tried to keep myself from going into protective mode. Danielle and Ianto still weren't here.

"Dammit." I said.
I turned my attention to Kaylee again and sighed. "At least they made themselves obvious. Do you know where we can hide?" he asked, forgetting that Alex was still there.

Ianto glanced up and down from what was in front of him to the girl in his arms and back again. Somehow, he got his cell phone out of his pocket and called Kaylee, trying very hard to keep calm as he saw people moving out of the street- out of the way of something. Pausing to glance behind him, he spotted the town's new law enforcement team coming this way and swiftly veered off into the library, which was across from his destination- the top of the department store. Turning around in search of a hiding place, he spotted Kaylee, Alex, and Danny close by and was about to head over to them before he realized that the metal detectors would notice the weapons that were, at this point, tucked away in the inside pockets in Ianto's jacket. Turning his head so that the blood dripping from his nose didn't hit Danielle, he hoped the others saw him as he left the building and headed around to the back, where he set Danielle down carefully on the ground on the other side of the dumpster. At this point he was struggling not to cough and he was beginning to wonder if the field at the building hadn't caused some sort of internal damage. Shrugging off the thought, he moved away from Danielle and went into a fit of coughs, blood splattering the side of the building and pooling at the bottom. Wiping his chin and nose with his jacket sleeve, for lack of something better to use, Ianto crawled back to Danielle, afraid to stand up, and knelt by her, unsure of what to do. Without him realizing it, his hand had moved from his side and was gently brushing Danielle's hair from her face.

"It'll all be okay. I'll keep you safe. Anything it takes to make sure you're okay. I promise." his voice was soft and a small, sad smile found its way to his face as he heard people com around the side of the building, heavy boots thudding on the ground.

Ianto stood, frowning, and turned to face them, eyes narrowing, but he raised his hands in surrender, moving out and away from the dumpster in an attempt to keep them from getting too close to Danielle. He faced the mayor's special-hired goons with a sly smile hidden beneath an annoyed frown, like a fly was bothering him and he was going to get the fly swatter to take care of it. As three of the men approached him and reached out, grabbing his arms, they collapsed upon contact, hands burned through their gloves, the scent of burnt flesh tainting the air. Ianto went into yet another coughing fit, unable to contain it now that he was feeling all the energy drain from earlier once more as well as the drain from giving the men electric burns, their screams echoing in the alley before they fell unconscious. Ianto shook his head once he stopped coughing and knelt by the men to touch his fingers to their closed eyelids, the shock just enough to render them blind.

"I'll be back." he spoke quietly to Danielle before he turned and left the alleyway.

Within minutes he had electrocuted most of the group of 'law enforcement' with relative ease, and had even taken out the vehicles, which had been made by people who hadn't thought of the powers they would be going up against, since they were made of a rather conductive metal. With all that opposed him dead or unconscious, Ianto staggered back to Danielle, dizzy with exhaustion, he collapsed beside her, breathing heavily. He managed a small glance in her direction to check and make sure no one had hurt her and was satisfied that she was safe before he drifted into unconsciousness.




Kaylee closed her eyes and smiled ever so slightly as Danny hugged her and ran his fingers through her hair. After Alex arrived she answered her phone when it rang, but heard nothing on Ianto's end, so she hung up and tugged on Danny's arm in a 'come on' type gesture before she headed out front. She simply stood there for a moment, surprised when she saw her cousin out and fighting people. Stepping back beside the door, she concentrated and caught the eye of a passing soldier. Gasping in pain, she felt her body crumple to the ground, slouched rather lifelessly against the wall as her entire being transferred to the soldier. Immediately, she raised the machine gun she felt weighing her down and fired the entire clip into several soldiers and then, loading another, she fired that, too before catching the eye of someone else. Whimpering as the soldier she was leaving collapsed, she felt herself be sucked into a new body and she stood up, surprised to find that she was controlling a woman in the same regalia as the man she had just left. This woman appeared to be rather high in ranking, as she had a double barrel shotgun strapped to her back as well as a machine gun with half a clip left in her hands and two handguns strapped to her hips. Heading over to where her own body was, she watched for Alex and Danny, raising a hand in surrender as she bent over and set the machine gun on the ground, pulled out the handguns and put them there, and placed the shotgun beside everything. Glancing toward Kaylee's body, the woman's eyes rolled back in her head as she was shot in the back, dying instantly. Kaylee struggled to leave the borrowed body and return to her own. Coughing as she became conscious in her own body, Kaylee instantly looked for Danny, trying to ignore the headache that was flaring up in her mind, as well as the terror that had taken root there after having been in the woman soldier's body when she died.

"Danny." Kaylee shivered, unable to push away the feeling of emptiness and the cold that had entered her body, despite the relatively warm day.

As Alex watched the fight unfold, he couldn't help but wonder what was with Danny today. He looked towards Danny and began to speak, he felt something stab him from behind. He then realized that there are only 7 troops there. One must have decided to do a sneak attack. He created a forcefield around him and expanded it quickly, pushing both the attacker and Danny into a wall, although the attacker was hit harder, and both Alex and the attacker passed out....
