Pirate Captian of the Spirited Lady
Age: 26
Appearance: Tall with a sturdy build and deeply tanned skin, Captain Cory has long black hair that reaches a bit past his shoulders, and is always tied back. His eyes are a mesmerizing shade of aqua that is only set off more by his tanned skin and dark stubble that can always be seen on his strong chiselled jaw. He was remarked upon in his youth as have a very “pretty” face, and a particularly malicious Spaniard dealt him a blow to the face that left a scar from his left eyebrow to his chin to help remedy that, and though noticeable, does not diminish his handsomeness, especially not his roughish image with women.
Occupation: Captain of the Spirited Lady
Personality: Clever and direct, with a devilish sense of humour, Jacob is a man prone to obsession with his goals, and is libel to have a bloody good time while he’s at it.
A cutlass, daggers, his ship, and a number of flint lock pistols he has stashed on his person and on his ship.
History: Jacob’s life started rough, with a sailor for a father who rarely came home, and eventually never did. At this point, when he was ten, his mother and he travelled from southern Scotland to London to take a ship for the new world and hopefully a new life. Their ship never made it, having been intercepted, attacked, and set aflame by a Spanish privateer ship before they could make it to Jamaica. Jacob was spared and forced aboard to work as a cabin boy for the captain, as his last one had died in a skirmish, and Jacob was a sturdy lad. It was aboard this ship Jacob received his scar from a drunken crewman, and his hatred for the Spanish began.
It was about a year later when Jacob was “rescued” by Captain Morgan and his crew, gladly taking the young lad aboard after defeating the Spanish privateers. At first, Jacob found his situation little changed, as he was still forced into service as a cabin boy, but soon came around to the lifestyle of a pirate, making friends who would sail on his own ship one day, and even growing fairly close to Captain Morgan. Jacob was 25 when he took captaincy of the Spirited Lady, so named for the fact he literally spirited the ship (one from his former Captain Morgan’s own fleet) out of harbour with his new crew. This act officially severed bonds and ties between Cory and Morgan, though anyone who knew either of them could tell you they viewed the stunt as a friendly challenge between the two of them. At the news of Morgan’s death, Captain Cory grieved, but is now dead determined to find Morgan’s Cove, confident solving the old man’s final puzzle would be the best way to honour him in death.
