Before the species of man ever started to emerge onto planet Earth, there were supernatural creatures known as Mythicals.

These Mythicals lived among man, eventually becoming realized as sacred beings that kept the world in balance. The Mythicals not only helped to shape the world, but they also brought the inspiration of new ideas and innovations to make life easier. Unfortunately, like so many innocent creatures across the land, the Mythicals were being slaughtered for unnecessary purposes. In time, the situation got so out of hand, that a group of five individuals with extraordinary gifts embarked on a mission to save the sacred creatures.

They found a way to split their world into two separate dimensions. They named the new dimension they had created Waldria. It was to Waldria that the five individuals gradually moved the powerful Mythicals. Each being able to control one species of Mythical, each person of the group was responsible for safely transporting one community of the sacred creatures to Waldria. Eventually, more people with the group's gifted abilities were discovered, and so more Mythicals were able to enter into the new dimension. The group of twelve humans stayed in Waldria, and convinced an abundance of people to join them. The twelve gifted humans taught these new people how to domesticate and control one specific species of Mythical. These newly educated people were the first Tamers.
A Tamer, by definition, is someone blessed with the ability to control one species of Mythical, attain powers similar to the species they control, and by their own will and way, travel between the dimensions of Waldria and Earth . The first Tamers stayed in Waldria, where they started to gain a numerous population. Some of them continued to live in Waldria, while others moved to the modern world where they had originally came from.

The Waldrian Academy for Mythical Tamers was established more than a thousand years ago in the forest region of Waldria. It serves as a place of learning as well as a safe haven and a home for Tamers who wish to grow in skill, as well as in knowledge. Generations of Tamers have all grown up in the premises of the school, and have always been excited to pass the tradition on to their children, and their children's children. Needless to see, the Waldrian Academy for Mythical Tamers is a point reached in every Tamer's life.

The academy initially offers its students the chance to make friends, new discoveries, and long-lasting relationships. That's not to say that there will obviously be rivalries and enemies to be made along the way. In this day and age, Waldria isn't as safe as it used to be. In fact, history may as well repeat itself in a different kind of fashion. A fashion that could be the destroyer of life as we know it...

Image
Creatures thought to have come from the ancient city of Atlantis, Perytons are elk-like creatures with the wings of birds. They tend to stay in groups, and thrive in the arctic regions of Waldria. They are usually very graceful and elegant creatures, but when angered, they become extremely vicious. The guardian god of perytons is Poseidon. Peryton Tamers are most commonly known for being loners and quiet folk.

A phoenix is an elusive bird associated with rebirth and resurrection. The independent and rare species has the ability to light itself on fire without being harmed. A phoenix is also immortal. Once it dies, it can arise from the ashes of its predecessor, and be reincarnated into a new life. The guardian of the fiery phoenix is the goddess Brigid. In Waldrian history, phoenix Tamers have been known to be the bravest and most chivalrous of them all. Usually students who are phoenix Tamers have some sort of bravery about them; whether they be wild and reckless, or justice-oriented. As for their physical characteristics, they can be easily recognized by their shiny red, or in some cases, golden blonde hair.

Being creatures of high intelligence, elves play a substantial role in Waldria's civilization. They have kept many ancient documents and records, built several of Waldria's winding roads, and play an influential part in political affairs. Immortal elves are radiant human-like creatures of elegance, wisdom, and spirituality. Pure and graceful, they have an unalterable desire to preserve nature, as well as to be stewards for other creatures. Elvin Tamers are known to be quite serious, yet loyal and accepting of other Tamers of the same Mythical. They tend to stay in a tightly-knit group. They are brilliant minded, and succeed in practically all academic endeavors. They are known to have an unending rivalry with centaurs, as well as centaur Tamers. Tamers of elves have distinguishable fair-skin, and usually have light-blonde hair to match. However, a select few are brunettes and redheads. The patron god of elves is the Celtic god Freyr.

Protected by the sun god Apollo, the majestic centaurs are Mthyicals found in Waldria that have the upper body of a human, and the lower body of a horse. Like their physical appearance, centaurs have dual personalities. They can be astounding teachers, and are usually there for people who need help or guidance. However, when angered, they are known for their wild and untamed personalities. They are skilled hunters, and so it is wise to back off when a centaur is angry. The race of half-man half-horse creatures are also gifted in astronomy, as well as predicting various prophecies throughout time. The Tamers are very flexible/versatile, and are considered the "jacks-of-all-trades" among the students at the academy. They are merry and cheerful, as well as honest and loyal. They are especially known for their craftiness and ability to think outside the box. These Tamers, like those of the elves, (their rivals) tend to stick together in a group. Regarding physical characteristics, centaur Tamers usually have brown wavy, thick, or curly hair. Some say their mouths and noses are usually very wide, making them look "horse-like".

Image
Considered rare in Waldria, pixies, or more commonly known as fairies, are small, winged creatures with the ability to perform magic. These creatures are small, yet powerful, graceful, yet mischievous. Most pixies are harmless. Regardless, some are quite dangerous. There have been reports of paralysis, kidnappings, sudden illnesses, and deaths all blamed upon them. Nevertheless, pixies and fairies are well-protected for one reason: medicine. The small creatures have been known to make the best herbs and medicines in Waldria, some being able to cure fatal diseases and life-threatening wounds. The Tamers share very similar qualities to their Mythicals, as they are just as childlike and free-spirited as the pixies themselves. They pride themselves in creativity and imagination. They have dreamy looks to match; most pixie Tamers have curly/wavy light-blonde hair, and a generally young-looking appearance. The fairy queen herself, Áine, is the guardian goddess of the pixies.

Perhaps the most powerful Mythicals in Waldria, dragons are large reptillian-like creatures with wings similar to those of bats. Both the European and wingless Asian types of dragons exist in Waldria, however the European species are more prominent. Chinese dragons are very rare. In fact, seeing a Chinese dragon is considered good luck in Waldria. Protected by the legendary god Thor, these creatures have the reputation of being ferocious monsters that show no mercy when approached. In fact, citizens of Waldria are urged not to approach any locations where dragons can be found. Dragon Tamers in history have been recognized as being the best warriors and generals throughout the land. Thus, present-day dragon Tamers are branded with the stereotype of having a tough, strong, and intimidating nature. Likewise, these Tamers can be spotted quite easily, as they are usually the tallest, as well as the most muscular.

The werewolves stationed in Waldria are slightly different than the ones we've come to know through European folklore. You see, the werewolves that roam Waldria are referred to by their technical term: "parent wolves". The ancestors of these wolves were the original werewolves, and helped to afflict their curse onto unsuspecting humans on earth. They were then banished into Waldria, leaving behind a monstrous pandemic. Basically, these creatures cannot shape-shift into humans, and ARE NOT humans themselves, but rather they are able to spread the disease-like adversity of lycanthropy onto people by either biting or scratching them. Citizens of Waldria know better than to go outside during a full moon, as this is the time when werewolves appear the most often. These Mythicals used to be a big threat to early civilizations in the dimension, as they were infamous for destroying entire villages overnight. Unsurprisingly, parent wolves are watched over by the god Loki, father of the untamable mythological creature, Fenrir. The Tamers of werewolves are usually thought to be either wild and energetic party-animals, or mentally-insane souls.

Trolls are the hardest creatures to describe, as they come in a variety of different forms. They commonly dwell in both the forest and mountain regions of Waldria. Although stereotypical sources believe trolls to be the slowest and most dim-witted of the Mythicals, these creatures are very human-like and intelligent in a couple of ways. Large trolls tend to make their own camps, as well as create their own families and clans. Most people believe that trolls are ferocious beings that attack wanderers on sight, however, this is not true in the slightest. Trolls are misunderstood gentle giants that very rarely attack anyone. In fact, trolls have been known to give gifts to travelers that happen to pass through their camps. The Tamers share the same characteristics as the friendly creatures. Generally having oval-shaped faces, they are selfless, humble, kind, and most importantly, peaceful. Protected by Gaia, they make good friends, and according to Waldrian superstition, they tend to be the luckiest.

These Mythicals are the most beautiful (and at times, the most dangerous) creatures in Waldria. Merpeople, or known by their common name, mermaids, are humanoid creatures with the lower body of a fish, and the upper body of an attractive woman. they reside in deep waters, usually being found in Waldria's warm seas and lakes. It's a risky move to approach a mermaid in water, as some are aggresive, while others don't mind the company of humans. The mermaids that swim in the lake near the academy are known to be safe, while the fish-like creatures that reside in the arctic waters are so wild, that they will attack on first sight. This is abnormal for merpeople, as when they are about to drown someone, they will charm their victim before pulling them deep into the water and in most cases, eating them alive. Tamers of these Mythicals are known to have exquisite physical beauty, as well as an abundance of popularity. The first mermaid, Atargatis, looks over the mermaids and their Tamers.

Image
Very few satyrs can be found in Waldria. In fact, the creatures' population seems to be declining, leading some scholars to speculate that the species of Mythical is endangered. Satyrs are intelligent beings with goat-like features. Normally, a satyr has the upper body of a human, and the lower body as well as the ears, horns, and tail of a goat. For many reasons, these humanoid creatures tend to be nomadic. As well as being excellent shepherds, they make outstanding musicians, and are often hired to play at feasts, ceremonies, and other public events. Centaurs and elves appreciate satyrs, explaining why the Mythicals of Pan can usually be found in villages and camps besides their own. For some strange reason, all satyr Tamers are born men. There have been no female satyr Tamers in history. Men who are responsible for taming and protecting the satyrs usually have fast-paced, energetic, humorous, and entertainer-like personalities. Although not as popular as the mermaid Tamers, they are well-liked and tend to have many friends and followers. Like the satyrs themselves, these Tamers can usually be identified by their dark curly hair.

According to Japanese folklore, kitsunes are fox-resembling creatures with mystical powers. Their trademark feature is their nine tails that signify great wisdom and power. They are the messengers of Inari, who watches over them. The true definition of a kitsune isn't quite clear, as the creatures have a dual personality. They are infamously known as tricksters; they break and enter into the human world by shapeshifting into different forms, and then perform malice in whatever way the choose. On the other hand, some kitsunes are considered celestial beings full of gracefulness, guidance, and good judgement. Generally, a kitsune's nature can be determined by how many tails it has. (the most being nine) Unlike the Mythicals they watch over, the nature of a kitsune Tamer is much harder to predict. In history, these Tamers have been known to be superior thieves, as well as philosophers with wisdom and intelligence greater than the elves themselves. With their ever-present dual personalities,
people find it hard to truly put their faith in them.

Image
Even demons, supernatural beings of malevolent nature, can be found in Waldria. However, they are much harder to come upon than most Mythicals. Unlike the other creatures, demons cannot be found in any specified location. In fact, most demons are considered spirits rather than physical beings. They only take up a physical form very rarely, if there is a purpose for doing so. Other than those scarce times, demons can only be seen and called upon by their Tamers . Because the creatures they tame are so dark and frightening, demon Tamers are viewed as having the stereotypical mischievous, insane, gothic, and almost evil persona. This is not true at all; although there were some dark necromancers who tamed demons in the past, not all demon Tamers have poor judgement. If you steer away from the proclaimed stereotype and look past society's lies, you will see that these Tamers can be the most determined as well as the most cunning when it comes to a variety of situations. In fact, with their wide arsenal of abilities, some people claim that these Tamers are the most powerful; even more powerful than the Tamers of dragons. Strangely, almost all women who are born demon Tamers tend to have the same jet-black-colored hair. The citizens of Waldria feel that this has to do with the demons' ties to the Egyptian god of the dead and the underworld, Osiris.

Anyone caught performing the act will receive severe punishment)

  • Just a general rule in the roleplay: It should be noted that the Mythical you tame cannot hurt you, even when other Tamers who control the same Mythical are trying to use the creature against you.
[*] Make sure to check the ooc regularly for important updates and other things important to the roleplay. Also, look at the places tab (when it is completed) to learn more about the world of Waldria.
[*] Now for some rules you've probably heard: No ooc drama. If you have questions about the roleplay or the world it takes place in, post them in the questions tab. For concerns, please pm me.
[*] Reservations last 48 hours. If there is no character sheet, i will turn your reservation down. There will be a password.
[*] I will let you change face claims if you like. Keep in mind, however, some Tamers have a set description as to how the look. (Example: Phoenix Tamers have red or light blonde hair, Female Demon Tamers usually have black hair, etc.) I may turn down some changes to face claims if they do not match the Tamers’ physical descriptions at all. Not every group of Tamers has a physical description, though. For those groups, you can change the face claims to whatever you like.
[*] No god-modding, obviously. I'd like to see some growth and development in this roleplay. I'm not restricting you from making strong characters, i just don't want them being almighty. Besides, not every Tamer is strong in all aspects of their powers.
[*] Along with the previous rule, there are some powers under the Tamers that i claimed to be 'rare' and only for 'skilled tamers'. I put those words there for a reason. Although they are listed, I don't want every single character having those powers. You may or may not see why i even dared to list them later on. I'd say teachers and older-aged characters are much more likely to have those rare powers than students.
[*] For right now, you are limited to three characters
[*] Please keep the gender ratio even! I'd prefer you make a male and a female. If you've made two females and you want to make a third character, it MUST be male. ( If you're upset about this, let me say one thing: if we get far enough into the roleplay, these rules may change...)
[*]This is a MATURE and LITERATE roleplay. If you can’t write 300+ words, don’t join. At least two good paragraphs per post. CHARACTER SHEETS MUST BE LITERATE AS WELL. On top of that, I would like good spelling and grammar.
[*] For the password, tell me what your favorite animal is
[*] That's it for the rules! Have fun :)[/list]
