Vala Felcori stands at roughly 5 feet 9 inches tall with a surprizingly lean and athletic frame for what one might expect from someone born and raised on a space station. Her good, albeit pale complexion is marred by a series of burn scars completely encompassing her left arm and part of her torso, there is thin scar running from the right side of her lip down to her chin sometimes hidden by her long, straight black hair though it is normally kept back by a green bandanna that matches her eyes. Other than these marks she is considered fairly good looking, rarely showing any sadness upon her lips nor making an attempt to cover her burns and sporting sleeveless shirts, often with witty remarks emblazoned on them. Vala otherwise wears regulation dress, though her thick leather boots have the words 'Reserved for Hivers' painted on the toes in bold, friendly letters.

Personality

Captain Felcori is, outwardly at least, a friendly and relaxed individual at most times with a relentless sense of humour at even the most dire and frankly inappropriate times. She is quite the geek by her own proclamation, highly intelligent and excellent at the sciences with her grasp of physics in particular helping her in form strategies for her vessel and proform upgrades upon some of its systems. However Vala has a somewhat detached view on life, the impact of some bad situations rarely reaching her 'on time', as it were. She is hiding pain and sorrow from the destruction of her former home though not her intention to avenge them but keeping her anger as in control as possible, directing it at the enemy military more than their entire race. She doesn't care much for the republic's regulations, only really harboring a respect for the laws of physics and non-Hiver life. She can be very compassionate towards others when reality finally hits her but is nonetheless a fatalist, pessimistic about most situations.

Mods to ship:
- Upgraded Hull Armor: The density, composition and molecular structure of the Tesla's hull has been altered to improve its overall strength, durability and resistance to enemy fire power. Its armor is considered to be almost as tough as a Jupiter's and makes it a better 'meat shield' than most Mercury-class vessels.
- Fusion gun: The Tesla has been fitted with 10 improved fusion guns, Vala having improved the efficiency of the fusion reaction as well as in 'dumping' its energy by 20%. 25 point defense laser have been removed to fit these guns on the ship but the improve firepower makes this worthwhile.

Important Crewmembers:
Private William 'Beefy' Malden, Chief Technician and Engineer - One of the most talented and skilled engineers in the Republic of Sol, assisted in the improvements to the Tesla. As Mercury-class ships are designed to largely often act as meat shields for other vessels repairs are required often and quickly done, happens to be almost unhealthily skinny. He was also originally from Mynt, having grown up with Vala but left before the attack and keenly aware of how the attack has changed her.

2nd Lieutenant Sera 'Sergio' Vel'ath, Helmsman- Pilot of The Tesla, she is not the best pilot around but is not unskilled and has gotten The Tesla out of a number of spills. She brave and has 'more balls' than half of the marines on the ship.

Gunnery Sargent Nickholas 'Asinus' Halakin- Regarded as the biggest asshole in the universe by most of the crew and Captain Felcori, hence her habit of calling him Asinus which he is fortunately unaware of its somewhat descriptive meaning. He is, however, very proficient at his job, also responsible for the ships weapon systems, even if he doesn't have much of a sense of humor or any likable aspects to his personality.

History

Planet of origin: Mynt, specifically its space station The Yttrium.
History of Ship: The SRS Tesla has only been in operation for several months but has seen a few battles, proving valuable to the Republic with its improved hull and fusion guns. The new fusion guns and hull design has yet to be implemented in the rest of the fleet.
Personal History: Vala Felcori was born on a space station orbiting the mining operation on Mynt, The Yttrium, it received much of the transuranium ore mined from the planet and shipments were picked up from it to save power in ships that would have been otherwise used for entry and exit of the atmosphere. The station housed many of the workers and their families, Vala one of these, but fortunately it was large and housed schools and other facilities capable in raising children of the workers. It was in one of these schools that Vala became friends with William Malden at a young age, both sharing a love for science and technology though Will was more one for the practical side and she was better at the theoretical. After years on The Yttrium they had both shown great aptitude in their respective specialties, receiving high marks on their final exams. Malden was able to gain a place in a engineering course at a university on Earth but sadly Felcori lacked the funds to attend the college she had hoped for. To gain scholarship she enlisted in The Republic of Sol's Navy.

In her 2 years of service she proved a valuable crewmember of the ships she served on, rising in rank quickly and even briefly acting as a helmsman briefly before finally completing her term of service. She was able to attend and complete a course for a bachelor's degree in Physics. Vala decided to visit her family, still on The Yttrium, before she would commence another more advanced course and arrived only a day before the fateful attack would begin the Xenowar. At the time the Hiver's fleet had arrived she was in the ship bay, in the middle of giving herself a tour around the station when there was an explosion that burnt her severely and sent a metal shard cutting her lip. They were under attack but they didn't stand chance, by the time she had regain consciousness, knocked out the force of the explosion, the station was on the verge of destruction with thousands rushing for the ships. She managed to drag herself onto a vessel capable of using a Jump Drive, several others helping her whom were not so knowledgeable as to how to fly the thing. In excruciating pain she piloted the ship out of the station as the other vessels were blown to smithereens around her and was able to initiate a Drive just before meeting a similar fate.

Understandably bitter from this incident, her entire family lost in the attack, she rejoined the Navy and convinced Malden to enlist as a favor. As she had been recovering in a hospital Vala had devised a few improvements to existing Navy systems, Beefy refining these and they presented them in a new design for a Mercury-class vessel. Being short of Captains and deciding the experimental vessel was best understood by them Felcori was hastily promoted to a captain and given The Tesla.
