The world of Wralandir is a perilous place, from the Almac Plateau to the Ashlands; danger lurks around every corner. Whether your enemy may be a thieving bandit, cannibal barbarian, or fearsome orc -- one must always be prepared. But, not even the mightiest warrior can survive a fray between a Colossus. Yes, the colossus: beings with extraordinary magic, powerful enough to lay waste to entire civilizations over night. They are the stuff of legends and myths, few have survived encounters and lived to tell the tale.

For centuries these monsters were allowed to do as they may. Unopposed, they were allowed to rule over entire kingdoms, worshiped as gods and just as feared. But like all things good or bad, they must come to an end. Warriors rose up, armies were formed, and battles were fought. In the end, the Colossi lost and a balance was restored...

The tables have turned and the hunters have become the hunted. Bands of warriors are trained in the arts of hunting and killing these titans. Armies vigilantly protect the newly risen kingdoms from harm. But, it will take more than that to wipe out the colossi. They will no simply be vanquished, many still hold seats of power and continue to worshiped and revered with entire armies at their disposal. It is now a matter of survival of the fittest.

Welcome to Age of the Colossus, an adventure roleplay. This roleplay will be small scale, only containing a maximum of 5-6 roleplayers. I am keeping it small to minimize problems and maximize activity and creativity. The roleplay will be heavily character driven, but there is a over-all story and campaign set. So depending on what the group decide this can be made into a sand-box roleplay.

This roleplay was created for the purposes of having fun in throughly thought-out environment with talented and experienced roleplayers and writers. Character will grow and relationships will develop as the roleplay progresses. There will be a good mix of battle scenes to offer action in the form of combating monsters and there will also be scenes where diplomacy is called for. There will also be a great deal of choices, varying monsters, and changes in scenery to further keep things from getting too stagnate and boring.

As I said earlier, this will be a small and private roleplay. The roster is currently already filled as layers were personally invited to join. But, as things always come up in RL, we may be accepting characters at a later date of expand the character limit. So do not be discouraged and feel free to submit a character or PM me. Just be aware that acceptance may not be instant.

For the most part this roleplay is finished and we will begin posting in the IC within a few days, however there are still areas in the roleplay that need fleshing out.

Below are a list of classes you must choose from to base your character around, from there though, you are free to customize your character as you see fit. The classes are present to help our group become more diverse. This will make the outcomes of combat and other situations vary as we will all specialize in different areas and will cause us to combine our talents to overcome obstacles.

Classes

  • Warrior: Is a generic and broad class; individual warriors have diverse backgrounds and different styles. Bodyguards, adventurers, former soldiers, invading bandit kings, or master swordsmen are all warriors, yet they come from all walks of life and backgrounds and often find themselves on very different alignments, goals, and sides in a conflict. The Warrior is skilled in combat, and usually can make use of some of the most powerful heavy armor and weaponry. As such, the warrior is a well-rounded physical combatant. Some warriors may be able to learn basic magic, but its capabilities in this field are somewhat limited.

  • Monk: The monk is a master of martial arts. Specializing in unarmed combat, they use no armor and only use special weapons. They also utilizes a spiritual element, Ki, that augments their fighting through the use of special abilities gained with experience. These powers and abilities are not traditional magic spells. Attacks by an unarmed monk are like a strike from a weapon with magical enhancements.

  • Rogue: A rogue fights with precision. These deadly combatants focus on a single target and dismantle it with deadly efficiency. They are particularly adept at tearing down individual opponents. Armed with blades, a rogue focuses more on positioning, and teaming up with warriors and mages to deal out maximum damage while enemies are either distracted or disabled. Acrobatic strikes lacerate foes, often leaving them bleeding out and steadily weakening, while the rogue smoothly slips behind for a devastating backstab.

  • Mage: A mage is able to interact with the forces of magic. Mages deal in raw power, whether sapping, bestowing, or inflicting it. They have incredible tactical potential, a fact underscored by many. Versatile and devastating, a mage is a force to be reckoned with. Mages can all but destroy an enemy’s ability to fight. Slowing, weakening, disenchanting—once they know a weakness, they can turn the most dangerous opponent into a helpless target.

  • Druid: Druids are keepers of the world who walk the path of nature. Druids have a greater control of their body and can change appearance at will, become immune to natural poisons and even stop aging. They also have a unique ability that allows them to change into various animal forms, and various other qualities that assist them in natural settings. Druids work very well with animals, and can try to improve a wild creature's attitude the same way they would improve a humans with diplomacy.

  • Ranger: Rangers have an affinity for open country and wilderness, but as independent scouts and militia, they are opportunists, not stewards of nature. They exploit every advantage of their environment, and can lure wild beasts to attack their foes. Rangers have animal empathy, meaning they can understand them and communicate with them to a certain degree. This is why they can persuade a variety of beast to fight along aside them.

  • Cleric: Clerics focus on restoration, not destruction. They know that the best way to win a battle is to keep themselves and their allies in the fight as long as possible. Removing injuries, granting resilience to wounds, even rescuing comrades from the brink of death. Any fool can cause harm, but no amount of muscle can make a weapon heal.

  • Bard: Bards are often depicted as ne'er-do-wells and charlatans who prefer not to meet challenges head on. A character who fits that stereotype can be fun, but a bard also can function as a person of deep knowledge and wide experience, a folk hero, a slumming aristocrat, or much more. Bards use music to soothe hearts and cloud minds; in combat, their abilities to inspire allies and distract foes are legendary. Beyond their music, they are masters of dirty fighting, stealth and larceny.

Character creation for this RP is a bit complex, or maybe the better word(s) is intricate and overly detailed. There are character classes, specializations, different races, moral alignments, and other choices. To help you, I have created multiple info pages which links can be found in the Links section above or in the OOC Tab.

I have substituted moral alignments form personality descriptions, since to me that describes the character even better than you might be able to. Though if you want, you can still add in a personality description. Also I do sometimes prefer pictures, but a written description is more than welcome as well. And though I have said this before, I will say it again: be creative. There are too many options available, so characters should only be similar in race.

Also let's discuss character balance for a second. Think of a character as a six sided die. If we use a typical human as the average norm, their stats would fall into line as 3’s across the board -- with a 1 & 2 = Below Average, 4’s = Above Average (but nothing spectacular), and 5 & 6 = Well Above Average & Really Good.

So where does exceptional or perfect fit in?

Well this takes us well past typical human greatness and the exponentially harder to achieve 7 & 8 = Exceptional; 9 = Near Perfect; 10 = Perfect.

How do you get there?

Racial Strengths, (i.e.) an elf mage is likely to be superior to humans because of their longevity and heritage. Or if you are studying in one area to become exceptional, though you will probably falter in another after devoting time and resources to one and not the other.

Unless you are auditioning for the role such as a God, one should consider a more mediocre approach to character creation. The upper levels are just that, the exception to the rule.

Just a note: though I have made a character application, you do not have to use it. Although I require the same information to be present somewhere within your sheet. So you might be better off using it anyway. Also please try to restrain from listing personality traits as weaknesses. If you really must make it so, then at least list a good one.

Re: Age of the Colossus

Its entirely up to you, the whole concept is fine with me.

Re: Age of the Colossus

I wasn't really overly concerned with it. I'm sure Zokahn would probably not remember the town. If you want me too I can be more specific.

Re: Age of the Colossus

No problem with that, just make sure you whatever town you choose syncs up with their history. Or were you meaning for this to be at any point in their history, not caring about the specifics?

Re: Age of the Colossus

I figured he pulls through town on his way to some place else. People are singing, dancing, and generally having a good time. It just so happens that he's a troll so he joins the festivities post haste.

Re: Age of the Colossus

Oh... Well either is acceptable. I just wasn't sure if or how Zok would appear in either of those settings.

Re: Age of the Colossus

Well, originally I thought the group dynamic was in place and I would be the new guy. So it would have been a victory celebration of some sort after downing a colossus, but now I'm not sure.

I suppose he could have met one or some of them at a village festival if the above holds no water.

Re: Age of the Colossus

Glad you like it. I think the song fits him perfectly. I originally had some classic rock songs with sexual themes, but felt that was more appropriate vibe for the character. Its a shame I couldn't find one for the roleplay to fit it better.

Yea, I meant to ask what you meant by party... so what did you mean?

Re: Age of the Colossus

Completely off topic, but I really dig this theme song feature to the character sheets. I listen to theme song associated with each sheet as I read it and I'm gonna do the same when reading posts about said character.

I was surprised that the Count's song was not metal. The song you chose is perfect, but I read his name as Death Rock.

Yeah, it might be better if this is run numero uno. I put under recruitment that Zok met his fellow adventurers at a party. How long ago would this party have been? Like some weeks ago, or would he not be sober at the beginning of play?

Re: Age of the Colossus

I would say make their first outing. I have my reasons, but I'm feeling a little too lazy to list them out right now.

Re: Age of the Colossus

Storm, middle of the night.

As far as which mission, it doesn't really matter to me. I can roll with whatever you guys decide.

Re: Age of the Colossus

@Ez: Don't worry... Though every quest will probably amount to to "find the monster and kill it" there are many ways to go about doing that. Plus, with everyone here adding in their input, things should never be too stale. The Castle Siege will definitely reappear later, but probably with a different story tied to it.

@Kuro: Naw, thats cool if you want to keep both characters in at the same time.

@Everyone: I actually didn't think everyone would want to go with this idea.. I wasn't sure what the favorite would be, but #1 was ranked pretty low. However, I do like the outcome and so #1 it is! (Even though Shiva didn't get to weigh in) You know, if I was sticking with my vampire character he would be severely disadvantaged... Apparently, with the lore I am going with, vampires die when completely submerged in natural water. And of course Koga would be rendered useless.

Anyway... Like Kuro said, the best way to do this post wise, would be to keep everything in the forums and only do individual collabs on smaller levels. Other than that, how the battle goes will be up to us as roleplayers and how we want to use our characters.

Now that we know what quest we will be moving onto, there are a lot of other smaller things to be decided. Most of it I can do myself, but I want to know what you all prefer. So if you would like me to include anything specific when it comes to our resources, such as the ships, weapons, etc... let me know. Or, if you would like your character to have a specific mount for this, just make sure it is within your characters grasp. Also, a preference on setting should be shared as well. Otherwise I will go with what I think is 'cool', which could amount to a battle in broad daylight in the middle of summer or it could be hurricane season in the middle of the night during a terrible storm.

Also, since we will be jumping time to a year or so in the future, let me know if you wanted anything specific to happen in or as one of the filler missions. Or I may make this their first major outing as a group, period.

Re: Age of the Colossus

Maybe we could be divided into three groups on three different warships or however many baddies we'll be facing?

Re: Age of the Colossus

Hey Fly, would it be totally uncool of me to keep both characters in the party?

Also, I vote for #1 also, though really any of those sounds fine with me. May I suggest that we break up the collab posts a little, maybe shorter segments or with fewer people, but multiple 'segments' of battle or something? It'd be easier to do with multiple enemies.

Re: Age of the Colossus

I think a nautical romp would be fantastic, as well as the "gathering valuable scales/organs/poisons/etc" It's also totally different from our present situation, and definitely ups the "team" dynamic of keeping the ship afloat.

Re: Age of the Colossus

In order of interest I vote 1, 3, and 2.

I really like the idea of sea monsters. Leviathans of the deep and all that jazz.

Re: Age of the Colossus

For some reason I feel like going with Quest 3 and having some sort of castle siege, but would I be the only one saying we should save that a little later to break up the monotony of killing giant creatures?

Instead I think Option 1 would be our best choice currently as it does put a relatively new group out of their elements onto the sea, if this was any amount of time it could be more like their true trial-by-fire as a cohesive unit (like this is the first colossus battle they've had to face for awhile if that would even be possible/desirable?). Definitely would go with the red sea snake option, even if it sticks out like a sore-thumb if it was nocturnal it wouldn't be easy to spot anyway.

Re: Age of the Colossus

Feel free to vote on your favorite and share your thoughts and ideas.

Quest 1
On request of a small fishing village, the adventures were sent by the Demon King to assist with a naval problem. Apparently, their sailing routes have become plagued with large sea creatures, which attack their ships and prevent them from doing their job. While, a dilemma of this nature is usually handled by more disposable resources, these creatures seem to be of great value to the King and so he has decided to send our characters. Our characters will be aboard a large ship accompanied by a small fleet of similar ships. Once out to sea, they will be attack by three large sea serpents which they must kill and at least claim their fangs, scales, or whatever is deemed valuable from their body.

The quest is relatively simple, but every character will definitely be out of their elements and should be a challenge.

Possible Sea Creatures
Possible War Ships

Quest 2
It is well known legend that every (insert random amount of time or mystic date) that the Kingdom Devourer awakes from its long slumber. When it does, it goes on (insert another random amount of time) eating binge where it devours anything and everything in its path. Only after it is satiated, will it return to its home and sleep once more after being satiated. Well, it is almost that time once more, but the King of Nexus does not plan to wait idly for his kingdom to be destroyed. He isn't sure if this so called legend is fact or myth, either way he has sent his group of Legend Slayers to inspect it. Our group then travels to what is known as the World Abyss, where the creature is said to reside. Upon reaching their destination they discover the creature is in fact real and set forth to destroy it. They will be accompanied by a specialized forces customized to deal with the suspected threat. This will consist of War Machines, a battalion of Mages and Archers, and squads of Valkyrie Knights (angel warriors or warriors on winged horses) and Griffin Riders.

This will be another Colossus battle, though there should be no moral qualms about killing this one. The difficulty will be just as high if not higher as the monster is a larger variant of a hydra.

Possible Kingdom Devourers'

Quest 3
Unbeknownst to our group of adventurers, the king they were hired to serve is also a demon and as such has a demonic history. In his old life one of his greater enemies was a powerful demon lord in the Ash Lands. With his new found power, he has decided to seek out his old foe and see to his demise. Our adventurers will be manning a castle siege and laying waste to an entire kingdom and hordes of demons.

If this was a true campaign, this quest would be tied into the primary storyline as they are not just killing some random monster. The Quest would likely be three parts: the castle siege, castle exploration, and then the final battle. They will be accompanied by an army of Orcs, secondary forces outside of the Human Army of Nexus. Other than that, they will be on their own as they traverse the castle and fight the demon lord.

Also, with some changes, this can be reversed. With the adventurers defending against a castle siege.

Re: Age of the Colossus

Depending on what Shiva does, Oran's character will be the only veteran of the group.

But I agree 7, I am looking forward to beginning the next quest in this RP. I have been toying with a few options for quests to make it really interesting.

I'm also eager to use Vellond... While I'm on the subject, is the idea of magic powered guns, to supernatural and less fantasy? I was thinking it might be a bit much. If so, I could make him a swordsman and make him a witch hunter like I originally planned.

I actually will be going with another character. Decided I like being our tank more, which is likely why I was uneasy about using a ranged warrior. But, I won't delay the startup for the finalization of my character. If all else fails, I will continue with Koga.

Re: Age of the Colossus

Heck yeah, I can barely remember the last time I was in an RP with Ezarael and/or Kurokiku. I'm definitely looking forward to this.

Re: Age of the Colossus

Dangit.

I was just struck with an idea for a new character, which of course means that you should expect a sheet within a couple of days or so.

I hate it when this happens.
