Introduction
Aistein: A kingdom on a large island. The citizens are pretty well off, domestic trade is booming and the nation has enough resources to rely on itself. The few sanctions against Aistein barely have an effect on the economy. The ruling king is a dark wizard who claimed the throne after the past king died with no suitable successors. Citizens have compulsory education up until their 16th year of age. In normal schools, students learn usual subjects and also learn the basics of magic. At age 14, students have the choice to continue general education, go to a trade school/vocational academy or go to an arcane educational institute.
Name of capital: Aelswir Size of nation: two islands with a total area of 230,000 sq km Population: 9 million
Aelswir: A city of about 250,000 citizens. It is located in the central-west part of the larger island. It is home of the king and the royal arcane academy. A large river flows through the city and commonly ships load and unload wares in the river port. The architecture of the city is magnificent and reminds one of baroque Europe. There are barely homeless citizens in the street. Poorer society often still possesses a somewhat decent wooden or stone house in which commonly two families reside. Poorer society is found on the outskirt in woodland area in which the homes commonly have a small garden area. The middle class lives within city walls in bigger building with a family living in one or two of the floors of a six floor stone residential building. The upper class resides in a neighborhood between the bazaar and the palace. There are two hills in the capital, on one is the royal palace and the other is where the academy is located. The palace is a large building made of a light blueish stone with a courtyard and enough guestrooms for about 200 nobles. The academy is a giant building with a ten floor building in baroque design and a large tower with platforms on top. The arcane academy is white in color at the base and its tower is dark brown.
King Irgiden: King Irgiden took the throne as there was no successor for the king. He was a court arcane scholar and before his coronation only a dark wizard in secret. He is sort of an antivillain. He appears to be middle-aged, handsome and benevolent in character despite being a dark wizard who seeks to expand the nation, even by means of war. His primary plan is to give many arcane students a good education to be able to crush their enemies. He even started a program for scholarships for young adult from poorer society to be enrolled in the academy. Scholarships are limited to 100 a year. Additionally at other arcane institutes he allowed easier access for the financially weak and better education. Because of Irgiden, the citizens enjoy lower tax, an economic boom and better standards.
Aistein Royal Arcane Academy: A prestigious academy for up to 8000 students. Most of them come from middle-class or rich families, about 200 come from noble families and 100 from poorer society. The school doesn't exactly have subjects but courses depending on the future profession. Also there isn't just one uniform for students but the uniform depends on the course taken. The academy has 400 teachers of which about 60 are dark arcane users. Despite some prejudice teachers have come to have respectful and good relations with each other.
The academy consists of one large building. The dorms however are in separate buildings at the bottom of the hill. The dorm rooms are for up to four people and are rather luxorious. Each room comes with an enchanting table and an alchemy table. The beds are queen size and comfortable. Each room has a walk in closet with four compartments and a private bathroom.
Courses:
Assassin: Assassins learn combat, illusion magic and poison making. About a third of the time they do active training and exercise. The uniforms are a short-sleeved and short legged, high collared leather bodysuit with a utility sash with buckles to fasten it tight. While they look a bit uncomfortable and unflexible the wearer will be surprised. The uniform also comes with a robe. The brown robe is optional and useful on colder days.
Healer: Healers learn healing magic, alchemy, barrier magic and medicine. The trek up the hill to the academy is enough exercise for them.
Uniform: Female: A white turtleneck or blouse underdress, white boots and a white robe. Male: A white turtleneck or dress shirt with white pants and white boots and a white robe. Both have a belt or sash to attach an herb pouch.
Battlemage: Battlemages learn magical defence, destruction magic, weaponhandling and combat. They commonly exercise with the assassin course.
Uniform: Female: A blue laced shirt, a chainmail vest, a short weighted skirt, chainmail greaves and reinforced boots as well as a weapon sash. Male: A blue laced shirt, chainmail greaves, a chainmail vest, reinforced boots and weighted shoulder guards as well as a weapon sash. After some time they wont notice the weigh anymore.
Necromancer: Necromancers learn the forbidden magics such as death magic, necromancy, blood magic, demonology and enchanting. Their exercise is made up of track class once a week.
Uniform: A black short-sleeved, long-legged bodysuit with a high collar and a black hooded robe and black boots. Upon initiation they receive a tattoo on their right shoulder or along their cheek bones.
Dark scholar: Dark scholar is a specialized course that takes a year longer than other courses. They learn demonology and death magic in-depth. No exercise classes. Uniform: A red lace up tunic, red pants, leather shoes, a black collar or choker and a red hooded robe.
Staff-maker: Staffmakers learn the craftmanship of making and enchanting staves. They don't really have uniforms however use brown aprons and are offered brown robes. Compared to the other courses, this course only goes for three years.
Enchanted smithing: Weapon and Armorsmiths learn the art of smithing and enchanting. They have regular exercise class requiring them to gain upper body strength. Like Staffmakers they don't have uniforms and get leather aprons and brown robes.
General magic course: General magic course is for those who just want to become mages. It covers all magics, however not very in-depth. Uniform: Just a blue hooded robe.
Enhancers: Enhancers learn how to enhance human bodies with magic. They boost fellow magic users abilities but also boost the ability of ordinary soldiers. There is also a darker part where they can mutate themselves with magic. Uniform: A beige tunic with brown pants and boots. Also a beige hooded robe and a forehead crystal.
Free course or specialized courses: Free course means a student chooses general education with three classes of their choice. Specialized courses mean that it is only one subject taught in a master-apprentice relationship. Here there is no uniform however a dress code: Dress appropriately. No loose jewelry (which means only form fitting jewelry like bracelets, circlets, collars etc.). Listen to masters recommendations.

The mother and daughter got ready. The family ate together and then they were ready to head to the arcane academy. Essina pricked her finger and dripped a drop of blood onto a crystal. An orange portal opened. Soon she and her daughter walked through the portal. They then arrived at the academy. Essina went to her classroom to prepare for class while Haendreda waited a bit in the courtyard to maybe see familiar faces.
When he reached the courtyard he set his case down on a bench and prepared to do some push ups, he half noticed a female student observing the courtyard and thought she looked familiar for some reason, yet with her hair how could she not be memorable? Shrugging to himself Damian began his push ups, wondering if anyone else would show.
A man in a dark cloak with blonde hair walked into the courtyard. Since he was with entourage, he seemed important. "The king?" Haendreda said. She bowed to be polite as the men passed them. "He might be here to welcome students to a new year." She said.
"Now, Carlisle, son," Nathaniel broke the calming silence, "remember to take care of your sister. This is her first year and you remember how frightened you were when you began. Remember, being a noble is-"
"-about finesse, genius, and class." Carlisle finished his clichèd mantra and turned from looking out the window to face him. "Yes, father, I know. And I assure you that June will be my greatest concern for the first week."
Nathaniel's bushy face smiled and seemed to light up, "That's good my son."
Then, seemingly as if on cue the carriage stoped, which jolted all of them toward to the front. They wait until the coachman opens the door. First out is June, the coachman offers his hand as she steps down in her healer's uniform, clutching close to her chest her focus item. When she is safely out, Carlisle also exits the carriage. As he steps down he looks around and sees a circle of students as they watch his family flaunt their wealth. Last out is Nathaniel, as he steps down his black suit contrasts sharply with the white garb of his children.
Carlisle and June each grab a bag from the carriage and the coachman grabs the rest. They walk first to the women's dormitories at the bottom of he hill. When they arrive the help June figure out which room is hers and the coachman drops of her bags. Nathaniel gives her a hug.
"I'm so proud of you, June, I'm so proud of you. If there's anything you need, don't hesitate to write." There were tears forming in the middle aged man's face.
Eventually, they part ways and Carlisle, along with his father and the coachman, travel to the men's dormitories. When they arrive, there is a quick hug exchanged between Carlisle and his father. The coachman drops off his remaining bags. When the family leaves Carlisle breathes a sigh of relief and begins unpacking. He's back at school, back with his friends, and back learning to do what he loves.
When he is finished unpacking, he travels up the hill to the academy, hoping to see some familiar faces.
Then he noticed the King walking by and the young lady next to him musing over why he was there. "Either that or up to something very big. You never know with the King." He observed as he finished his workout and sat on a bench.
Haendreda then began doing some breathing exercises to extend her mana threshold for mana building.
"Greetings, King Irgiden, great to see you out of the palace." Carlisle greets the king, bowing.
The king turns his head to see where the sound came from, then his eyes settle on me and smiles. "Altheda's boy, Carlisle, right?"
"That's correct, King Irgiden, your powers of observation continue to amaze." This makes king smiles, Carlisle knows the best way onto his good side is to stroke his eqo.
"Well, I merely came to check with the principal here. We have somethings to discuss, I have something to place in his very capable care." He says, specific enough to whet my interest, vague enough to give absolutely no information.
"Well, King Irgiden, I shouldn't keep you long. I do hope your endeavor shall prove fruitful."
"Indeed, as I know it, it shall." He replies.
And with that, the king turns away and, with his guards, continues into the academy. Carlisle continued on as well, going through the gates and finding a familiar face. Damien was sitting on a bench talking to Haendreda. He knew them both, if only vaguely. They were all in the same year, and he didn't see any other of his friends yet. So, being the courageous noble he was born to be, Carlisle walks over.
"Damien, Haendreda, how did the summer treat you?"
"My summer was dismal, as usual." He replied, not wanting to mix words in. He waited for the girl next to him to answer as he pondered his next move. Which of course was getting into his room as quick as possible. He could set everything up, spare armor, and the like.

"I'm going to catch up with you later Damien, see you later."
Carlisle walks down to the girl's dorms and to his sister's dorm. He knocks on the door and she opens.
"Class is beginning and it's quite a maze through the castle to get to our class, so let's go now."
June nodded as she grabbed her focus item, "You won't need that on the first day. They never teach you magic on the first day, it's just an introduction to the class."
"Oh," she said as she put it back,"Thank you."
And so they walk up to the academy together. When they reach the gates they enter in and Carlisle shows her the pathway through the winding corridors and hallways until they end up in Healing Magic 01. He drops her off and goes a little bit farther down the hallway to Healing Magic 03 where he enters.
"Ah," said the teacher, "You're late." And as he looks at the ring on Carlisle's right hand he smiles. "This year's Altheda is tardy on the first day."
I nod, "I apologize Mr. Rhines, but I had forgotten to grant myself enough time to both show my young sister where her class was and arrive here on time. I promise, it will not happen again."
"Yes," Mr. Rhines says, "Have a seat over there I was just about to begin the discussion about this years syllabus."
Carlisle obeys the teacher and sits where he told him to. Next to Marvin Grehn, another 3rd year healer.
It wasn't all that bad, that is, if he wasn't the only battlemage who wore red instead of blue. It wasn't that he was practicing dark destructive magics, no. He just liked red over blue. It's also so that no one can see him bleed if he got injured. Slowly the others in his class and assassins got together and soon the school day began for them.
